This is the best coffee in Buffalo (and possibly the world)! A grande House is the perfect pick-me-up cup of Joe. If it's breakfast you crave, you can't go wrong with a Mike's sandwich on a bagel with bacon. For all other occasions, I'm into the spicy tuna wrap, on spinach, in a pretty large way. The spicy sauce has a great it'll-make-your-lips-tingle-especially-if-you're-drinking-coffee-with-it-instead-of-water kick to it. Plus it's packed with cheese and delicious greens! read more

If it were possible to give a half star, I would've. To anyone who is a person of color, you might wanna watch out for this place. I haven't felt so uncomfortable at a restaurant in a long time, and this was first time trying out something new. Never doing this again. I ordered a California vegetable omelette with a hot chocolate. When I went to pick up my order, I noticed I didn't receive any silverware or utensils. I would've picked one up, but given our current circumstances with the Covid-19 pandemic, I had to go back up to the front counter to ask for one. There was no one at the counter at the time, so I asked the gentleman who was fixing drinks for one. He was super rude and his tone was very aggressive. To think something so simple and so innocent in nature could be reciprocated with so much rudeness. In addition to this, the customers and rest of the employees kept staring and glaring at me for the entire duration of my time there, like I didn't belong. I am an Afro-Native/Caribbean woman, with a medium-deep complexion and curly hair. Apparently I didn't fit their particular customer image as others glared and made me feel highly uncomfortable. The part Breakfast Wrapthat made me leave was a man who came to the area where my friend and I were speaking. He stood in front of us glaring for a solid 15-20 minutes. This prompted me and my friend to leave, as we both decided this was not a welcoming environment. I've had better service at a McDonalds drive-thru window than here. great local alternative to $tarbucks. This location is huge(!) and that fact that it's on a corner is great since they've packed in wall to wall doors that open up to the outside which is great for when the weather in Buffalo is nice. The espresso was 'meh...' wait, let me take that back. It was probably the worst I have ever had. Not sure what exactly went wrong but a cheap little machine from the store could have brewed a better shot. It tasted like burnt charcoal from the bottom of a grill. I took three sips and then had to immediately as for a cup with ice and water it down. However, it was STRONG. If you want something to kick your tail into high gear, get a double. Atmosphere is great, the layout is good plus they have some comfy chairs! I sat here for a few hours today and for the first time in a while my butt didn't completely go numb in a coffee shop. Staff was cool. Most of them are pretty interested in serving the client but maybe they could tone down the yelling of orders out. At least take the persons name down and yell that at the top of your lungs instead of "WHO HAD THE PIZZA?! ... ANYONE MISSING A PIZZA?!?!" Free wifi is awesome. My husband and I went to the Elmwood location today for Restaurant week, for an early lunch. We shared a mushroom pizza, spinach salad, and lemon scone. They don't make a very good chai latte, but the selection of flavor shots rawks my world. The "baristas" are high-energy and friendly, though sometimes it takes an eternity to get a foo-foo coffee drink. One star off for the table-hoggers. One person does not need the table for 6. Went here with a group to do work. I got an iced coffee--it tasted terrible. No matter what I added I couldn't get the coffee to taste good. Tim Hortons, Starbucks even McDonalds I don't have that problem. I put 1 sugar, and 1 creme in and if its not sweet enough I add 1 of each to taste. Spot's coffee just doesn't want to cooperate. The wifi again does not work. We couldn't get any work done. We had to leave. Also my friend got a humus dip (in a bowl) with these cookie/pita/bread pieces...and she had to wait 20 mins...WHY? As my friend and I drove down Elmwood, we decided that it would be a good idea to just go and relax. This place is so eccentric and relaxing, every time I am in here someone I know pops out of nowhere. Since we just came to relax we decided not to order anything, because we ate right before we got there. The only thing I have ever ordered from here was the red velvet cake, and oh my was it gooddd. The service was really great, the workers are really friendly. As well as the people in the cafe. Most of the people that go there are either relaxing, reading, studying, or just surfer in the net. Making this place a really comfortable place to be to get things done. The inside environment is very clean and I love the artist look to it as well. The drawings/paintings on the wall is great and it goes well with low light. I just wish there were more couches. read more

Never have a bad experience at Spot Coffee- especially the Elmwood location. Bagels, pastries and sandwiches are always delicious and the drinks make a perfect pair. I suggest trying the Cinco Shake in the summer- perhaps not the healthiest of choices but the caramel, vanilla and coffee go hand in hand. The matcha green tea latte is also a great option. This location was my second home during Grad School and it was super accommodating- large enough for group projects and discussions yet quaint and quiet for those who just want to read alone with some coffee. read more

I'm still trying to figure out where all the hype about Spot Coffee comes from. I've been here a few times and had a few of their speciality coffee and tea drinks: nothing special. I also did try their hummus appetizer: definitely not authentic hummus, if anything it tastes bad. Now that they are newly expanded, Spot has free WiFi at all their locations. And they offer personal gourmet pizzas...they are unstoppable. If you have never been to Spot, just go already. They roast their own beans so the coffee is always fresh and tasty - the best cup in Buffalo in my opinion. The food is really good. I've always enjoyed the spicy tuna wrap, which a friend of mine recommended, b/c aptly stated, "It's good. It's like a tuna sandwich, but it's spicy." It is one of the best social scenes in Buffalo. I've been to different SPoTs, including this one, many times in the past few years, but never had a chance to leave a review. We came in because my husband was craving dessert and we wanted to wander Elmwood. He chose a slice of cheesecake, but only after we awkwardly stood at the counter for some time. All of the employees were in the back, chatting. One even looked over a few times, but acted like we were an annoyance to be dealt with later. Finally someone came over and took our order, but it was obvious she wasn't in the mood to be at work. I didn't get anything initially. The cheesecake my husband ordered was OK, but he is a cheesecake maniac and it wasn't quite up to his standards. After hanging out for a bit, I magically became hungry (aka the frozen yogurt I had eaten before we got there moved over and made room for dinner). So I went up to the counter, and this time it was someone different! Thank goodness! He was very friendly and helped me choose between the two sandwiches I was craving. I ended up with the grilled cheese and was thrilled. Tomato, cheddar, and dijonnaise. Loved it! So the food was good, and half the service was great. The other half, not so much. Fingers crossed you don't get the woman who was having a terrible day. read more

Spot Coffee is a local coffee chain that totally rocks my socks. Their menu is expansive, and offers something for everyone. My personal favorite is the 'Cocomoco', which is just a fancy hot mocha drink. It's a bit pricey (over $4 for a grande), but I'd rather support a local business than their corporate conglomerate down the street. I've never had the food there, but from what I've heard, it's good. The atmosphere is very cozy, and offers stools, tables with chairs, an area with sofas, and outdoor seating for your caffeine consumption. The people that hang out at Spot are very friendly, and I could probably spend a whole day there just chatting with random strangers. If I lived closer, I'd spent a lot more time at Spot. It's definitely worth checking out for locals as well as out-of-towners! read more

The Spot Coffee on Elmwood has a younger, more hip vibe to it than many of the other Spot Coffee's I've been too. The large open areas with lots of open tables make it a great place to have a cup of coffee while meeting up with a friend, or just to study like I often do. The only qualm is that the background noise, between the store operations, music, and other customers, is mildly loud, so if you can't stand a louder environment, I suggest bringing headphones or selecting a different Spot location. Setting aside, the coffee itself is okay. Spot's coffee brew has a distinct flavor to it that I can only describe as mildly sour. Some people love Spot's unique blend, but as for me, I'm not a terribly big fan and have just grown accustomed to the taste. read more

This shop looks super cute, because it is. I had a matcha latte which was perhaps the worst matcha latte I've ever had in my life. They didn't do anything ceremonial about it and I actually threw it out early. If I would them, I would either teach all staff how to make matcha or just take it off the menu. The chai on the other hand was super delicious. The mixture that Spot Coffee uses is great: a little spicy, with flavors of cinnamon and a nice overall finish. If I'm in Buffalo again, I would consider going back here for the chai. read more

I am a huge fan of SPoT coffee. I've been to all of the locations in Buffalo, but this review is specially regarding the one on Elmwood. I've recently moved within walking distance of this location, and I was super excited since I'm a student and I love studying and doing work at coffee shops. Specifically at SPoT coffee. However, I've visited the Elmwood location multiple times and have found trouble connecting to their wifi each and every time. I keep coming back hoping it was just a one time fluke that the Internet was weak, but this has happened on every single occasion. Big disappointment, especially when you're here with your laptop and school materials for a productive session of marathon studying. I thought maybe the connection would be better since they started handing out 2 hour username and passwords to patrons, but I've had the same issues (maybe it's a tiny bit better but not noticeably). The coffee and food, however, are on point. Exactly what I expect from every SPoT coffee. Great coffee, delicious food (although a little pricey). The Elmwood location is great for hanging out with friends or catching up with people, or people watching. Highly recommended for that. For studiers: my favorite SPoT coffee to study at is the one on Transit Rd. :) read more

Got to nerd out here for Gilmore Girls coffee day earlier this month. Netflix was allowing local coffee stops to front as Luke's diner for the morning. Very good coffee here! I am a coffee snob and I just don't know what it is about this place, but it is delicious. Maybe it just fits me, can't explain it. I also got the breakfast wrap (spinach) with eggs and salsa. Between the number of people here and the quality of our food, I was very impressed! They were slammed from 6-8am while we were enjoying the Luke's atmosphere and they handled it well. A cozy little coffee joint with an appreciable amount of hot tea and cocoa. They have a fair share of bistro-like sammiches and sweet little pastry items. The seating is cushy and cozy if a little crowded during the popular hours. There are rumors that expansion is coming sometime soon, so perhaps this problem will solve itself! The bathrooms are tucked away in the back, and labled by some poor Barbie/Ken dolls that underwent Extreme Hipster Makeovers. They're usually clean and are spacious with mirrors for preening. The patio outside is great in the summer and heated in the winter, though your results may vary. The staff can be a bit hipsterfuckyou, but soon they may realize that they have some lovely local coffee place competition right down the street. Stopped in for a cup of coffee here last Sunday. Seems they expanded since I was last here. Place looked really clean and modern inside. I used to go here all the time for a cup of coffee before heading off to school, when i lived around the corner on Auburn Ave. The coffee was just as good as always. And now that they expanded, they took care of what I would have deemed one there biggest problems, lack of room in the place. I also picked up some of their beans, their Ethiopian harrar is one of the best coffee's I have had from them. Glad I brought some home. Highly recommended read more

Been going here a long time & I'm NOT even a coffee drinker!! They've always had a lot of choices for the non-coffee-addicted individual. I was very bummed out to hear that the record store attached to the place, New World Records, went out of biz yrs ago, it was always cool to shop there & walk thru the open entrance near the cash wrap & get a cookie & pour over your new music. Still, Spot is a great place! I want to like Spot Coffee, but I can't. Even with the expansion of this location, it's lacking in seating. It could use more tables and chairs and fewer couches, so that people who want to order lunch actually have a place to sit down. But, my biggest problem with Spot is the process of retrieving your order. It's like a circus. They call out your drinks not by YOUR name, but by the name of the item, i.e. "Green tea!" Unfortunately, it is difficult to hear the servers, which leaves everyone in a state of confusion. Your neighbor will turn to you and say, "What was that? Did you hear what he/she said?" Today, I ordered a green tea, and I believe that one of the other patrons had taken my order because I never received it. Would it really be so hard to take down the names of each of the patrons and write it on the cup? Wouldn't that make it a lot easier for everyone? I don't understand why management would want to make it needlessly difficult to retrieve a cup of tea. I prefer Starbucks - more corporate, yes, but much less hassle. read more

Great coffee shop on Elmwood. Many seating options from sofas to fancy chairs to regular table and chairs. The lighting is ample, but somehow soft. The space is relaxing yet easy to work in. The coffee selections are basic. No super fancy specialty lattes. I'm fine with that, but my husband likes super sugary drinks and they don't have many options... We've only had pastries or bagels, but the food has always been good. The staff are nice and the drinks come out fast. The bathrooms are clean too. They have these counters up against the windows that are just the perfect little nook to go and read/work at. The coffee was very freshly roasted at another Spot location. I do wish there had been a less-dark version of the Kenyan AA. Staff was charming and well informed. This is the true Buffalo, NY coffee chain. Even though a lot of Western New Yorkers want to claim Tim Horton's as belonging to Buffalo that truly belongs to Canada. There are several Spot Coffee locations around the Buffalo area, however I've only been to the one on Elmwood at the corner of Cleveland so this review only applies to that location. First of all this is a great place to hang out either with friends, with a significant other, a family member, by yourself or to get some studying done. The atmosphere of this place is so great in my opinion. There are tons of tables and comfy chairs everywhere and the walls are painted with really neat pictures and bright colors. It seriously just has that coffee shop atmosphere you see on sit coms where everybody meets up to unwind and talk about their various experiences during that episode. Kind of like Central Perk on "Friends". As for the coffee, I usually opt for one of their espresso drinks. Most recently I ordered the mocha and the time before that I ordered the carmel machiatto. Both were good and right up there with what you would get at Tim Horton's or Starbucks. The price of the coffee is in between Tim Horton's and Starbucks. Not as cheap as Tim Horton's, but not as expensive as Starbucks. The desserts here are amazing! This is such a good place to go out for dessert! I got the cheesecake the most recent time I was here and it was superb! My cousin got a massive brownie which she really liked. They also have pie, cookies, and other really good looking desserts to choose from. I'm really glad Buffalo has it's own coffee house chain like this and if you live in the Buffalo area or are just visiting I suggest you give Spot Coffee a try. read more

Cute toilet signs..which I know...it's not that important! :P Tip-bits: Parking can be tricky, either across the street by Globe Mkt, or in Blockbuster's lot or along the side streets.
