came here for my birthday for lunch! such a great and welcoming experience. we had a table seated outside right by the water, with a beautiful view of the beach. service was amazing, attentive to details. we ordered the ahi tuna crudo, seared salmon, and flat iron steak frites. the ahi tuna crudo was smooth and zesty. the seared salmon had a nice nutty sauce and crunchy textures. the flat iron steak frites was juicy and umami. at the end of the meal, they had prepared a birthday dessert for me. i definitely recommend reserving here to celebrate special occasions! i've been to laguna beach a handful of times but had no idea about this place, as it is hidden inside a resort. having access to the open, watching the waves was so calming. read more

We decided to try splashes for our anniversary dinner. I was hesitant going here since the review weren't so promising but the place was such a pleasant surprise. They recently completed a 9-month remodel and it reminds me of the Italian amalfi coast. Beautiful ocean and sunset views that make a great backdrop to a meal that is sure to be a treat. The server who may have been a sommelier was great with his recommendations for wine and champagne. The bread service is a must - soft and airy with a hint of sweet and saltiness. We ordered the hamachi tartar along with the oyster trio with champagne mignonette. The scallops are amazing and the blood orange gel is so unique. The seared halibut could've used some oomph to the dish. For dessert, the server gave us the crème brûlée for our anniversary and we ordered the tropical sorbet with espressos. Espressos were so good! All in all, very nice ambiance, food and service. I would be going back. read more

Splashes is what I call "fake nice" and not worth the price tag. My husband and I were in town celebrating our anniversary and he surprised me with a reservation here. We didn't know but they just opened after a 9 month renovation. This was our impression: Ambiance: 2/5: beautiful modern decor but the lights were way too bright for our 8:45 pm reservation, there was no background music and if you're not by the small wall near the water, you'd have no idea it was even there. I get you're supposed to hear the waves "splash" but I heard more of my neighboring tables conversation or others were listening to mine than anything else. The vibes were just off and not very romantic. Food: 1/5 appears to be sophisticated concepts and plating but my "tableside" lobster bisque was cold, the scallops were $60 for 3 pieces with hard pieces of squash, & the pork chop was unevenly cooked. The bread and butter was the best dish of the evening... Service: 4/5 the only saving grace was how attentive and nice our server was. She knew the menu well and always had a smile on, checking on us frequently. We did get complimentary dessert and a glass of champagne, which was nice. The place has potential but I wouldn't come back. Felt like a big waste of money for mediocre food, dressed up like fine dining. I hate writing negative reviews, but I hope this place improves with experience to match their price and hard work renovating this space. read more

We went here for a company Christmas party. The area reserved for us was down the stairs to the right. We had a perfect view of the sunset and we had our own bar and bartenders in our area. The drinks were flowing. They were all delicious and I loved the presentation. I love pretty drinks. We had a set menu. My date had the New York strip steak and I had the sea bass both very tasty. Splashes is perfect for wanting to get the view and feel of outside for the sunset but being able to close the window when it gets too cold but still having the view. The service was great, both food and bartender service were on point. Cute ambiance with little high top tables with their individual lighting. Bigger tables also available. Beautiful restaurant situated in the Surf and Sand resort in Laguna Beach. This location offers beautiful sea side dining with lively views of the pacific. About as close as you can get. The service here is on point. Friendly. Attentive. The restaurant offers a lovely wine selection. Food is good, flavorful, a few dishes were a bit bland and lacking in excellence, but decent overall. The real gem here is the Splashes bar. It's situated just past the restaurant and it's level overlooking the ocean. Simply stunning atmosphere and service. All the selections from the restaurant are also offered here, and the vibe is more quaint and warm. The bar tender Alberto was fantastic, Friendly warm service. My wife and I recently dined at the newly renovated Splashes Restaurant to celebrate her 30th birthday. We arrived for our 6:00pm reservation and were promptly seated on the lower level closest to the beach! Treated to ocean views at every angle. The wonderful team consisted of our server Pablo, busser Pepe, and Sean Reynolds, the Surf and Sand's incomparable beverage director! Once we were seated and the team was properly introduced we were welcomed with an Amuse Bouche of Ahi Tuna and a Passion Fruit mimosa. Pablo made sure he was available at every turn and guided us through the menu selections. For starters, we shared the tableside lobster bisque and "cheesecake." The lobster bisque, one of the best we've had, was poured over a lobster salad and full of flavor. The cheesecake was so unique and had a "crust" of what seemed to be chopped dates and walnuts. Perfect way to start our meal. For our mains, we ordered the scallops and duo of Lamb. Pablo shined again with a terrific wine pairing for the duo of Lamb. The Lamb was cooked perfectly and the turmeric crepe filled with lamb was surprisingly delicious. The scallops were like butter, and beautifully brined and sweet. Some of the best scallops we've had. To finish we had a wonderful Crème Brûlée (complementary for my wife's birthday) and Sean insisted we try the Basque cheesecake - and we're so glad we did. Absolutely incredible and cannot wait to come back to try again! The food and ambience were perfect and could only be matched by the staff's attention to detail at every turn! It's been years since I've eaten at the Splashes restaurant. We do frequent the bar area, and forgot that the restaurant has a totally different set of menu. I reserved a table to celebrate our friend's birthday. Everything we ordered was good and everyone was happy with what they got. We got the Hamachi tartare (doesn't come with chips... we asked and they gave us some). The celebrant got the Muscovy Duck Breast, which he enjoyed. I, and one of our friends, got the Seared King Salmon. It was soft, juicy and delicious! We both enjoyed it. One of our friends got the Whole Roasted Branzino, which she also enjoyed! The celebrant was given a complimentary creme brûlée with a candle for his bday. And almost everyone in the restaurant sang happy birthday with us! The creme brûlée was delish!! We also ordered the Apple Tarte Tatin which we also enjoyed! All the food was served so beautifully! Our server, Carson, took good care of us. The place is very nice but small. The view is amazing! Which were both amazing, also tried the duck dish that came in medium rare, the meat was okay but the puree made it better! The octopus dish was amazing as well and the dessert was too! I made the reservation super early on noting that it's for a birthday occasion, but they wrote "congratulations" on the plate with the dessert treat? That was a bit odd.. the food: very disappointing and overpriced for the value. We found some sort of sand-like texture in one of the mushroom dishes so we asked them to take it away.. that was a bit concerning for a higher-end restaurant. the Brussels that paired with my fish was also burnt and tasted bitter Service was good, but took forever to get our bill, probably forgot about us? came here to celebrate me and my boyfriend's 5 year anniversary. the hosts were very friendly. our server was great i wish i remembered his name, but he was in his 20s and had wavy/curly black hair. (maybe hispanic?) well he made sure everything was okay and we got what we expected. the food runners made sure our waters were full as well. the manager was walking around making sure everyone was having an enjoyable time. overall great service! this place is great for fancy, romantic, upscale, classy, and elegant dining. my boyfriend hasn't been to many upscale restaurants that provide an experience, so i loved that he was able to experience it here. we both felt special on our special day. also, i love how close it is to the shore and you can hear and see all the waves crashing. one of my favorite parts! you can even go down the stairs of the restaurant and onto the beach, which i love because i wanted to have dinner and go the beach for our date and this was very convenient. our food was great. we were very unfamiliar with many ingredients being used. i ordered the halibut which i believe came with some sort of jam or jelly. the jam, fish, and roasted corn paired so well together. i love when there's multiple textures to my food, so i loved the softness of the fish, the thickness of the jam, and the tenderness of the corn. my boyfriend ordered lamb chops and i tried them. most of the time i cannot eat lamb or goat for personal reasons, but this one was great. it was not too aimy? not sure what the word it for when the lamb taste too much like animal instead of the meat. anyway, it enjoyable for the both of us. he loved the alaskan baked he wanted to order like 5 more lol. it's like his favorite dessert ever now. i loved the crème brûlée. very well done! you can tell the dessert chef perfected his crème brûlée technique. so yummy! 10/10 recommend! read more

It was my second time coming to this place for brunch and I was 100% satisfied both times. I love this place because not only the views but also the foods are perfect. This restaurant is located right next to the beach so you can a really nice view of the beach and the ocean. It is inside a resort and you can do valet parking. It was $10 with validation when I first went but the second time, valet parking was complementary due to construction of the resort. I got a cocktail recommended by our server and it was 100/100. We got short rib skillet, french toast, and mushroom flatbread and everything was amazing. Last time, I also tried octopus and it was really great too. French toast - crunchy outside but soft inside. Portion is good to share Mushroom flatbread - paired with house hot sauce and was so yummy. A good plate to share as well Short rib skillet - served with tortillas. But food was okay for my normal tasting tongue lol Also I think we made a mistake on going during lunch. It felt like there was not that many options to pick from. We ended up getting tuna sandwich which my fiance and I both thought it was regular tuna sandwich since it didn't say ahi tuna lol I ended up getting the pizza with blue cheese and bacon which was good. Definitely on the higher size for price and considering how much they charge for their food service was definitely not top notch. We had to wait for our check for almost 40 minutes. But I do have to say they make their cocktails pretty good although it has price tag between $17-22. read more

The restaurant is small and furniture is a bit outdated but the ocean view makes up for it. Food was overall delicious. Seafood tasted fresh. We ordered octopus, mussels, and brussel sprouts for appetizers and they were all very flavorful and tasty. Octopus was a bit overcooked but still yummy. For entrees, we had salmon and sea bass. Both were cooked well, but the salmon had a sweet beet sauce that I didn't feel really work. Dessert was also savory. Service was very attentive, nice and cordial. This is a beautiful restaurant in Laguna beach worth checking out. Use the Valet parking in front, it's FREE when you dine in at this restaurant. I recommend coming a bit early or when it opens if you want a window seat. Had a reservation here via opentable and was seated exactly when it opened at 11:30 for brunch. Food here is a bit pricey but taste wise was excellent. I got these. Four Oysters - Simple as it gets, it's 4 small fresh oysters. Flavor was clean and you can tell it's fresh. Pricey but delicious. (4.5/5) Short Rib Skillet - I really enjoyed this dish. Came with black tortilla with really tender short rib. Great brunch dish! (5/5) Shrimp and corn hash (Special) - Off menu special item that the waiter told us. This was easily the best dish with 4 jumbo shrimps and some tomato on top of corn hash. Pricey but good! (5/5) It's a great spot for occasion. Service is great, views are stunning and food is delicious. A bit on the pricey side for what you get but the venue makes up for it.
