It took so long to visit this place but I finally made a visit to this wonderful establishment. I have read about this place on line a couple of years ago and always wanted to dine here, but with the pandemic, I decided to wait. A friend and I were thinking of a nice place to have lunch the other day and she suggested Spinning Bones. She said she had dined here 4 or 5 times with always positive results. "Everything you get is good here", she said. We entered a dining area that is simply yet elegantly designed. We chose a table and was greeted by a pleasant waiter who brought us the menus. Again, my friend said "everything is good here". I trusted her and chose the pork loin and my friend opted for the black peppered beef. My pork dish came with a most delicious dipping sauce and a side of slaw and pickled jalapeños and arugula. My friend's beef came with chimichurri sauce, slaw, and arugula with pickled onions. We tasted the other's meats and we agreed that the dipping sauce that came with the pork had better flavor although we didn't dislike the chimichurri sauce, it was just grassier. I know I enjoyed every bite and my friend did too. We both ordered coffee that was individually drip brewed at the table, and we both liked that. I also had a piece of cheesecake with blueberries which was delicious! I can't wait to go back and try their chicken. I won't wait so long the next time. read more

I've been following Spinning Bones on Instagram for a while and would always see these beautiful dishes on their secret menu. So I finally got to try it during alameda restaurant week and had asked for their secret menu burrata and their entree secret menu. Let's start with the burrata. OMG, the nice soft burrata, on top of thinly sliced avocado, and bomb sauce and super light, fluffy toasted bread was amazing! Not only was there a flavor explosion in my mouth but the different texture was great! 10/10 would recommend if they bring it back on their secret menu. Onto the entree, I forgot the naming of it but the crispy pork belly and pork ribs were soooo good. My husband ended up stealing some after taking a "tasting bite" because it was so good. What a delicious way to pre-game for Thanksgiving. Their turkey feast is economical, flavorful, fresh and varied. Our Wednesday into Thursday meal. Comes with: -turkey breast, juicy and cooked just right, ever so slightly pink -party rice, so good -sweet potatoes roasted perfectly and I like how they kept the pads of butter centralized so you didn't have to indulge if you didn't want to -collards, maybe more oil, more flavor, found them bland, will jazz them up some more or add to a smoothie I think it was $80 for the entire meal?! They said feeds 2-4 but it's definitely more on the 4 side, especially the turkey breast - HUGE! Also added the Louis salad and their goodie platter, which did not disappoint. Homemade dressing, cashew cheese, fresh herbs, veggies sticks and flaky roti. Nothing like this on the island. A modern rotisserie and def do the party rice. And the people, so lovely. read more

My new favorite restaurant. That's it. My dish! Trip's Triple: Chimichuri sauce along with a hot sauce and delicious lightly cooked chicken and pork shoulder "medallions" (sorta!) along with a delicious little salad! Totally worth it! We had the little waffle and ice cream....oh my Lord! Yummy! I can't wait to go back for the Sunday meal (prime roast?) or the porchetta! The ingenuity of the dishes blows me away. Check it out. You just can't find this anywhere!. We shared the street corn (forgot the title) but it was amazing and I can't wait to give it a go. Somehow, they cut a cob of corn perfectly into quarters, LENGTHWISE and douse it in furikake and another type of spice mix. Here's where I think Spinning Bones rocks my world, they combine a thread of Japanese influence but keep it real, but make it fresh and mind-blowing. I love street corn, I've had it all over the world, but this street corn was amazing. Shareable. We also shared the corn fritters (?) which were frikkin-a fantabulous! With a berry coulis, it was delicious by itself and with fruit, totally Yum! I had Arnold Palmers (my signature drink) and for the first time EVER, they kept bringing me either top-off with lemonade or tea or fresh new A.P's! Oh, be still my beating heart! They treated my pooch Lola like royalty (she is a diva, after all) and my sister and roomie and wife like queens, although it was my birthday!!! Excuse me while I salivate while writing this review... A friend recently offered to babysit my kids so that my husband and I could go out for dinner. This means 1) a meal in a restaurant that's not McDonald's, Taco Bell or KFC! 2) a meal we don't have to shovel in our mouths! Some of you may think I'm crazy or unhealthy (or both.) Parents out there, you understand =) We chose this place because it's still fairly new. Found parking in the area and we were promptly greeted, seated and provided waters and a menu. We ordered: - chicken lickin' - koji chicken - black pepper beef The chicken lickin' arrived first and it was DELISH. The portion here was a bit small but every bite was so crispy and juicy and piping hot. The sauce (WHY ISN'T THE DESCRIPTION ON THE MENU?) was delish as well and we were savoring every bite. The beef arrived next and it was a beautiful medium rare that made me rejoice to no longer be preggo and have to watch what I eat. This was also delicious, and the chimichurri, kimchi and broccoli were nice add ons. The koji chicken arrived a few minutes later. This was my husband's favorite! We wrapped the chicken and greens in the roti and it was delicious. I don't know if they switch up the greens they include in this dish, but we had arugula, which I happen to love. The chicken was super juicy and not dry at all, which we appreciated. We ended with dessert--I believe a chocolate peanut butter torte with a oatmeal and peanut butter crust. That was a bit too rich for my liking (or maybe I was already sinking fast into food coma at this point) but it was still yummy. Spinning Bones, I hope you stay on Park Street for awhile! One of the best meals we've had in a while. Everything about Spinning Bones was perfect from the food to the ambiance to the service. They really are doing amazing dishes here and it's worth a visit (though I selfishly don't want them to get too popular because I want to be able to get a table!). The rotisserie meats are the stars here (chicken, ribs, pulled pork) but don't sleep on the sides and apps-the edamame and smashed potatoes were fantastic as was the roti and accompaniments. Even the arugula salad that came with the Double Dutch was superb-so simple and flavorful! The prices are very reasonable especially given the portions. The Double Dutch can easily serve 3 or 4. We had lots of leftovers and left full! Do yourself a favor and make the drive to Alameda for this gem. read more

My boyfriend decided to take me out on a little date night dinner where his coworker recommended him this cute spot. The plot twist was that his coworker ALSO works here! Bobby made our experience 10x better and made sure we were taken care of. He recommended the best of the best entrees. Bobby sold me on their Sunday special, which I do not regret one bit. Everything here tasted phenomenal and my boyfriend and I would definitely come here again. This time, to try their regular menu items. Firstly, we had reservations on Sunday at 7pm. Bobby mentioned that it was a slow time, to us - it looked kind of busy! Generally they're more packed than what we witnessed. We were fortunate enough to get parking right at the front, so prepare to find parking on this busy street. As we seated, Bobby had already put in an order of Chips n' dip for us without asking while we browsed the menu. We decided to go for some drinks: Shiso Highball and The Mi-Lo. The shiso highball was fragrant and floral while the mi-lo was much stronger and tropical. My favorite part (especially Bobby's) was that it came in a ceramic Buddha! Very unique and cute! As for our entrees, my boyfriend got the Bones Burger which is house-made and very juicy!!! All the flavors paired great. It was so good that my boyfriend was trying to savor it as best as he could. I got the Sunday Special which was a breaded pork cutlet/chop over (what seemed to be) garlic rice. I noticed there was some popcorn on it which I found very interesting, yet it brought the whole thing together. Overtop was a fried egg and some cherry tomatoes. All of this swimming in a pool of coconut curry. I could not get over the various flavors that just harmonized together... I'm so glad I chose the special for the day. For our side, we got the smashed potatoes which was also very unique! It had this type of spiced sauce with sour cream, my boyfriend seemed to like it more than i did! Overall, 10/10 experience. Very delicious food! The St. Louis Ribs were tender and seasoned nicely, pairing well with the BBQ sauce it came with. Really enjoyed the different textures and flavors in the Rainbow Rice. The Goodie Sampler was actually my favorite! That, with a side of the napa cabbage slaw would be a good simple & healthy lunch :) Not too busy for a Thursday afternoon, parking was easy to find. When ordering the food, Christian was friendly and helpful, answering all my questions I had about the entrees. I think I found my new favorite restaurant in alameda. Food was delicious. They definitely know how to cook their meat to my liking. Everything was perfectly cooked and tender. Will definitely be back. The Corn Fritters tasted like fresh made cornbread but it was crispy on the outside. It was like a sweet dessert when dipped into the strawberry jam. Delicious! The Chicken Lickin was my favorite. It looked like a piece of fried chicken with bones when I first saw it but it is completely boneless. It was crispy, juicy and tender. Absolutely delicious with the tofu aioli sauce! I liked the meat that the 3 Little Pigs had to offer. The pork shoulder and ribs were juicy and tender. The meat on the ribs easily tore off the bone. I thought the sausages had a good amount of flavor by itself. I'm not a big fan of eating salad so I took a few bites to try it and I didn't taste anything special about it. I thought it tasted a lot better when I dipped the salad in the leftover tofu aioli sauce. The Double Dutch was probably my least favorite but was still good. I thought the chicken was cooked perfectly and tasted moist and tender. It just lacked a little flavor. I think the ribs and salad were the same as the 3 little pigs entree. Service was top notch. Our server was friendly and attentive. Whenever we finished a dish, he was there to get that plate out of the way for us. He made several rounds to make sure everyone in our table had a full cup of water. We needed some extra forks and he was quick to get it for us. They have indoor or outdoor dining. There's only street parking which can be difficult to find since Park St is the busiest street in alameda. read more

A little bit disappointed after seeing some good reviews. Had the prime ribs. Portion was good; meat was tender; but the meat had no taste. Service was somewhat slow. The place was not impressive and the table was cruddy and the chairs were uncomfortable. We winded up paying $90 per person without drinks for 2 appetizers, 2 prime ribs, and 1 dessert (including tax and tips). It is a bit too pricey for such an environment and quality of the food. read more

We saw Spinning Bones on Bay Area Check Please and we were in the area so we thought we'd try it out. It was very busy but we were able to get a table outside. We started with a couple of drinks. I had the house Pinot Noir and my wife had the cucumber cooler. We ordered the pickles which had four different pickled vegetables and the corn fritters. Both were very good and I found the Pinot went really well with the pickled vegetables which surprised me. Then we ordered the Double Dutch which had half of a Koji chicken and half a rack of St. Louis ribs along with some condiments. Both were good but could have had a little more depth in flavor. Service was fine and the ambiance was pretty simple. I would probably return to try other menu items. read more

Got there early and the place began to fill up quickly, that says a lot about a place. side note:I really enjoy open kitchens where you can see what's going on and this is that type of place. Anywho let's get to the food. I ordered the Chicken bites and Chicken Sando (sandwich) and a brew. And yooooo, talk about a nice size portion! The Chicken Sando was the perfect size. At first sight, you see a nice flatten crispy chicken thigh hanging over both sides of the beautiful bun. Nice condiments and a dollop of PoSal (potato salad for those that don't know). My only complaint (if any and not really a complaint), is that it wasn't super crispy. It looked crispy, but.....The meat was super juicy on the inside but It almost felt as though the juices or the steam or something took away from the crispiness of the chicken. And that was for the bits as well. They look super crispy nice color but when you pite or tear into them they were soft and I was looking for that "crunch" ya know. They both lacked a tad bit of salt as well, but all in all, it was cool. I'd prob try something else on the menu next time. But if you're in the area and what a cool spot to get some good food, this is the place. read more

Went for brunch today and it was good. Loved: tri-tip, the burger and the chicken pate. Oh and the chimichurri was dreamy and delectable. Liked: the broccolini and the bacon edamame Service: friendly but wanted water and forgot an appetizer. Ambiance: good vibes, serviceable decor. Will absolutely visit again. Some of the brunch specials sounded particularly interesting but we weren't given the specials until we'll after the regular menu and already had our minds made up. Brunch at Spinning Bones today: corn fritters, roasted cauliflower, mochiko-fried chicken lickin' and burgers. My husband had the bones burger, and I tried the veggie burger. The patty is made with brown rice and mushrooms and is sturdy enough with plenty of umami. It's topped with lettuce, tomato, pickle, onions and aioli. I'd order it again. We had our senior dog with us so we ate outside, and they were very friendly and accommodating of our situation. read more

First visit with family and all of us fully enjoyed our meals. Started with their Kettle Chips and Dip which was tasty. Bones Burger was best my brother ever had. St. Louis Ribs were fantastic and meaty. 3 Little Pigs served on a tray was picked clean over and Black Pepper beef was tender and yummy. Beer and Wine only are fine and if they had a full bar, not sure it would make a difference. If you're looking for eatery with an eclectic menu, give it a try. I had heard a lot about this place, and today my stepmother took me here for lunch. I had the Bones Burger, cooked to medium, and it was very tasty, one of the better burgers I've had in awhile. It's a generous portion, with 2 pattys, American cheese, pickled red onion, lettuce, thousand island dressing on the side, and a side of mashed potatoes. I opted for a lettuce wrap instead of a bun. It was very satiating, and I ended up taking half home for another meal. Yummy. They are still doing outdoor dining only, located across the street from the restaurant, in the parking lot that used to belong to Big O Tires. Contrary to posted hours, they open at 12pm. Waiter didn't put one friends order in. Asked for 3 waters one wine, got 2 wine and one water. Waiter reached across me, my face, a few times. The waiter messed up the bills. A year ago, I originally heard of this place on a Michelin Catalog. My family and I have been delaying our visit here. My experience was nothing less than superb. The food was a bit pricey but for the entrees and appetizers we were served, it was much worth it. My burger was extremely tender and tasty. The service was nice, and the ambiance was nice as well. Ordered: Special items: Salmon toast - Yummmmm....underneath their perfectly cured salmon (perfect salt ratio curing) was a layer of egg salad on a buttery, thick & soft brioche toast. On their IG it had ikura but mine had none instead of tobiko. I was disappointed even though it was delish. Hence, minus one star. Chips & dip - Yummmmmmmm..... with the right amount of salt, creaminess, and the crunch from the chip! I love my olives tapenade + hummus + soft cheese = LOVE!! ....soooooo in love with this dip!!
