One of the best if not the best lamb burgers I've ever had! The patty was juicy and the fries were crispy. Service and ambience was 100/10. I only wished they had a tip jar, or maybe I missed it. read more

Went to a Project Burger before seeing a movie at the Alameda Theater and ordered two burgers, one being the Kafta which has West Asia/SWANA (or called Middle Eastern) flavors. The service was kind and helpful, the food came out in 10 minutes, and wow were the burgers yummy (and not bad price-wise). I really liked their burgers and will be back, especially for happy hour! read more

Project Burger is the best burger spot on the island. High quality, huge portions, and the service is always welcoming. You really can't go wrong ordering anything from their menu. I've tried their fries, burgers, and chicken sandwich and no complaints here. I also appreciate that they offer a variety of Alameda Soda on tap. read more

I was in the area for something else and decided to stop in since I was starving. I ended up ordering the kafta burger. It was pretty busy when I walked in and there were only two people working, so there was a bit of a wait. Despite that, the customer service was very kind and they even gave me something on the house for the wait, which I thought was kind of them. I honestly wasn't expecting much, but the burger really surprised me. It was juicy, delicious, and very flavorful. The only thing that caught me off guard was that the burger wasn't fully assembled, the lettuce was on the side. At first it seemed a little unusual, but it was actually thoughtful since it keeps the lettuce from getting soggy. Overall, the food felt like it was made with care. Very good and flavorful. I'd definitely come back! read more

Lamb burger and fries made quickly and done to perfection. Service was pleasant and very helpful. Great place to have a reasonably priced delicious burger. I will definitely be back. I've lived in Alameda for 56 years and I've dined into every restaurants in town. To all the naysayers, I'm sorry for your negative experiences but let's give the man a break, he's alone, okay? I personally think that Sambo's on Webster Street in the 70's ranks first and is now followed by Project Burger. Again, that's my own personal opinion. Thank you. read more

Small burger joint right next to the movie theater in alameda. Burgers were decently priced for how big they were (1/2 lb of meat!) and came with interesting flavors. The black and blue was so tasty with chunks of blue cheese layered over strips of thick cut bacon. I appreciate the way he cut our kids burger in half when he saw we had two kids with us. He also made sure their fries weren't too hot, which was thoughtful! You do have to wait a bit since their crew is small and they cook everything by hand. But it was definitely worth the wait! We all enjoyed our food immensely and will be returning! The house salad was also a nice surprise; super flavorful and fresh. Not a typical salad dressing. Definitely check this place out if you're visiting alameda. read more

Wow, What a pleasant surprise. I always drive past this place and like how it looks, and always said one day I am going to come here. And today I am here to say it was worth it. It was delicious, the Kobe beef was tasty, the pickles were amazing and the fries were fried to perfection. The staff was friendly, and the prices were reasonable. I am definitely suggesting this place moving forward. read more

Updated Review - my initial experience at Project Burger was excellent, and earned it a 5 star review, but tonight's experience was honestly a waste of time and money. We placed our order at 6:20pm and it took till 7:10pm to get our food. The owner is also the order taker, cook, and table buser; and the restaurant was busier than the day we initially dined. If business continues to do well he honestly should hire one other person to help with order taking and bus tables. Additionally, customers who placed their order after us received their food first. When we finally received our food the whole meal seemed like it was made in haste. Very poor quality cook on the burger patty itself. My patty was undercooked on the inside, and the exterior was burnt (meaning he had no control of the heat on the stove, it was set too high so the outside cooked faster than the inside.) My boyfriend's patty was completely raw looking, he refuses to complain when we eat out; but I offered him airborne when we got home to kill any potential germs from the underdone patty and he took me up on that offer. Additionally, the owner/ cook totally ripped us off on the fries. We ordered 2 sides of fries with our burger, costing an additional $5.95 each. He came out with one tray of fries and said "I made enough for the both of you." Respectfully Sir, what you gave us to share was the single order of fries that you price at $7.95. We were not served $12 worth of fries. Waiting 50 minutes for our food to be served undercooked & burnt patties, and get ripped off on fries is absolutely unacceptable. We didn't even get compensated in some way for patiently waiting without a single complaint as long as we did. Docking to a 2 review due to lack of consistency for a return visit. If you want better service and good food - go on a week night no one cares to really dine out on. If you walk in and the place is busy leave (unless you see he's hired help) it's not worth it. read more

Terrible Service!! I went in to make an order for the first time and it took very long for the Rep to come up to us then I asked about the Sweet potatoe fries and the grass fed beef and got 2 worded answers with no Smiles or anything ( kind of what are you doing here vibe). Then while in the middle of ordering he walked away without saying anything. I wonder if it all was because of my skin color (black male) kind of looked like i was talking to an owner. The setting didn't seem diverse either. read more

First time checking this place out. There was only one family when we arrived for what most people would deem as early dinner but for family with young kids, 5:30 is our usual. But once it was around 6:20, more customers were in. The kid meals are definitely of good value. It also comes with a drink. All that for 10.95, that's good. May seem pricey but when you compare to the same at a fast food, I think it's decent. The Kobe style burgers were yummy. Lots of options to personalized it. And you can taste the quality in the meat, but don't think of it as your high end burger as it isn't when you're paying under $15 for it. One thing to be mindful about is that there was only one staff to manage the whole store throughout the time we were there. So if it gets busy, just be understanding. read more

Project Burger - Hamburger with fries - American Near Me - Alameda, California

It sure did not take me long to return to Project Burger. That California Burger was so delicious that I returned earlier this evening to order two, one for me and one for my husband. I did not and could not wait until this Saturday for that California burger. I'm hooked to that burger. It is not a 1/3 lb. ground beef pattie, but a 1/2 lb. ground beef pattie. In case people don't know the difference between 1/3 lb. and 1/2 lb., a pound is 16 ounces, 1/2 lb. is 8 ounces and 1/3 lb. is 5-1/3 ounces. California Burger is not a fast food business. The burgers are freshly prepared. The wait for a food order can take more than 15 minutes. This visit is also an opportunity for me to get to know the owner. He's friendly and pleasant. I can say with no doubt I will return to try other items on the menu. The description of the turkey club sandwich has perked my interest. In the future when Park Street is having events, I know to pay Project Burger a visit for burger and fries. I know a shake would be perfect, but no can do for health reasons. Because I enjoyed the California Burger so much, I am raising the rating to 5 stars. read more

My wife and I were visiting Alameda and the place we were going to go was closed. So, walking towards the theatre, we opted to stop by this place. We are so glad we did! Their Momma's Mix (Halal burger) and Kobe burger were spectacular! The service was great and the outdoor area was well arranged to allow bench seating overlooking Central Avenue. Very casual, relaxing. Like Pampered Pup, if you're heading to the movies or just came from one, stop here. You won't be disappointed! read more

Dry patties, stale buns. Overpriced. Sticking to in and out or habit burger. However the portion is good.

2026, and still the best burger you'll find for miles around. You can get a 1/2 lb grass-fed beef burger on a nicely toasted sesame seed bun with no sides and a tall glass (not plastic!) of ice cold milk for under $17 before tip. The owner is very friendly, and seems to be making the food himself. The place is clean and spacious, with nice restrooms. I'm wishing Project Burger the best of success! read more

I came here on a weekend around noon and there was no one inside. There was only one guy working who was both the cashier and the cook. He was very calm, friendly and nice. I got the grass fed beef burger with American cheese and caramelized onions. The burger was huge and absolutely delicious. The cheese was beautifully melted and the beef patty was juicy and really tender. The toppings tasted fresh and the sauce provided good flavor and balance to the burger. I liked that with each bite, I could taste all the toppings and let it be known that the beef was still the star of the burger. The buns were nicely toasted and held everything in the burger perfectly. I also ordered a side of regular fries which came in a generous portion. They were fresh cut and had a nice crispiness on the outside to softness on the inside. I just wish the fries were a little bit more crispier but they still tasted delicious. There weren't a lot of drink options. It was mostly Alameda sodas and as you could probably guess by the name, the sodas were made right here in Alameda. They might have had some beer but I wasn't interested in alcohol this early in the day. They did have 2 pitchers of ice cold water and cups near the door. This was a small location but it actually had plenty of seating inside and outside. They had 2 restrooms that both men and women could use. There was a parking garage around the corner if you couldn't find street parking. read more

We just went for the first time, Haman the owner waited on us. I ordered the jalapeno burger my husband ordered fish tacos. Haman was friendly and very personable. I asked if I could please get the burger well done, no pink. He said yes however you want it. It was awesome large well done, thick patty it was beautifully constructed and tasted perfect. My husband's fish tacos were fresh grilled salmon, not breaded or fried. Haman explained that he only buys fresh fish that he personally likes to eat himself. This is definitely a place we would/will eat at again! We enjoyed our meals and engaged in a lengthy conversation the 3 of us laughed and shared experiences. read more

My favorite burger in Alameda so far! Tried two burgers during a weekday lunch, and both were excellent. Super fresh, packed with flavor, and nice and big--everything you want in a good burger. The Wagyu burger really stood out: crispy fried pickles and a punchy wasabi aioli made it fun, different, and seriously tasty. It's a one-person operation during the week (cashier and cook), so the wait can be a little longer, especially during lunch rush--but it's absolutely worth it. This spot has quickly become my go-to in Alameda. Can't wait to go back. read more

This place is small and unassuming. Almost looks closed. It's rarely busy, might even be empty. There's usually just one guy in there doing it all. With all that said, it's hands down my favorite burger on the island. TRY THIS PLACE OUT. The flavors of his burgers are amazing. Perfect char on the burger, juicy, and cook exactly how you ask. I don't like any pink in my burger and he prepared it perfectly. He'll bring it to your table and pick up the trays when you're done. He's a nice guy and puts a lot of love into his food. Someone in another review said he even puts parchment or wax paper between the patty and bottom bun in to go orders so the bun doesn't get soggy. this is a beautiful and thoughtful touch. I know it's easy to think Scolaris or Nations but Project Burger is really THE ONE. They even serve local Alameda soda flavors. I suggest the black cherry. I strongly suggest eating here, if you're a burger person you will not want to miss this place. read more
