    Vegan Fish and Chips
    Sabrina M.

Solid food place with decent vegan options but not many. I'm vegan and have been here a handful of times for breakfast and lunch. The vegan tofu scramble was okay but not anything I would go back for, I'm glad that there was a vegan breakfast option but wish it was a little more creative. For lunch, I've had the vegan fish and chips which was pretty tasty! I like the tartar sauce it came with and the batter on the vegan fish was seasoned well.

So my friend and I went for brunch and time to catch up. We sat inside next to the bookshelf and felt cozy. Our server was very attentive and sweet. We had a couple of cocktails which were pretty and tasty. I had the classic eggs benedict and a salad on the side (potato substitution). The entire meal was great but that salad was my favorite. The dressing was so good. I enjoyed me experience here.

We came out to Alameda to beat the inland heat & had a nice time walking around the downtown area, as well as checking out some lovely breweries. Before coming, I checked out the menu for the restaurant, to make sure they had plenty of vegan & vegetarian options, which they did! Our waitress was super sweet & very attentive, & our food came out fairly quickly. I ordered a half wedge salad without the bacon, & it was absolutely delicious! The dill & toasted almonds were a unique touch. He ordered the Brie Burger, & subbed the meat for a Beyond patty. Super mouthwatering! Then we shared the vegan fish & chips & it was sooo amazing! The batter was perfection & the vegan tartar sauce tasted exactly like the real thing! Definitely think we will be coming back soon!

This is a lovely place with indoor and outdoor seating, full length bar, and TVs that aren't so loud as to be intrusive. We went for the bottomless mimosa brunch on Sunday. Our waitress was a very nice woman, but they do have a male waiter we have had before we weren't too fond of. Anyway, the coffee is great. The food is ok. Not much on the seasoning and we were never brought any salt or pepper. We had beignets with caramel sauce that were fantastic. I had the corned beef hash, which wasn't hash at all. Just some shoestring potatoes, pieces of corned beef, and poached eggs. Gluten free toast is extra. My guest had the works which was regular country style potatoes, poached eggs, and bacon. For the cost of over a $100 it was just ok.

I've been here a handful of times and each time, I always have a great experience! They remodeled it I think after the pandemic and I love the modern, sleek interior. I am usually here for brunch and bottomless mimosas. I have tried many items on their menu, but I always end up with the hobnob hash. It is so good. Everything here does not disappoint. This last visit, we ordered the Hobnob hash, Benedict, pancake special and beignets. Everything was delicious. Their special menu items are usually good too, so don't be afraid to order that. The service was also amazing. The staff here is always so accommodating and friendly and I love coming back.

They had us from hello. We ordered the fried zucchini and ahi tacos for apps- she actually asked if we wanted to add a taco so we could split evenly. Had the seasonal shrub served with a metal straw- a taste of summer. Salads for dinner- so amazing!!!

I've been to hobnob and have had only great experiences. My Vegan GF introduced me to the restaurant to enjoy their vegan fish n chips which really were superior to other vegan fish n chips we've tried. She came for the vegan fish n chips, but I stayed for the Surf and Turf appetizer which could be an entree in itself (please never take this off the menu). We also ordered... - The brussell sprouts appetizer without any dairy product to make it vegan. They were great. - Fried Chicken Sandwich - had everything I like in a friend chicken sando. - Harvest moon cocktail - my favorite cocktail thus far that they offer. - Smokey the bear cocktail - which comes in a pretty adorable bear shaped glass. We also happened to be there on a night when there was an artist playing an acoustic guitar set which set a very nice mood. I believe he had some backing tracks which gave the set a fuller vibe. It appeared everyone in attendance appreciated the music. I definitely got more than I bargained for in a very good way. I also love that they have booths for seating. I prefer to sit side by side with my GF. It was nice to be able share food, enjoy a good cocktail, take in a music show, and sit side by side while we did so. The staff were also very friendly which is always a plus.

I haven't dined inside the restaurant so I can't speak to the full experience here. If the weather is nice, the spacious outdoor tables are perfect for dining al fresco with my dog. Happy hour offers some tasty bites and sips for a good value. The service I have received is better than I would expect for sitting outside (where it's easier to forget about patrons). My servers have been attentive and check frequently on our table during happy hour to take advantage of the time frame. It's worth coming back to this spot for the happy hour value and the tasty standout menu item: the tortilla burger, which is flavorful and juicy, but not soggy. The biggest drawback is the location being difficult to see when driving by and the limited parking due to the typical crowds on park street.

Cutest bottomless mimosas and the whole menu is yummy. You must try the buffalo cauliflower. Eggs Benedict was cooked perfectly and the brunch potatoes were amazing. It ain't brunch if you skip the French toast! It's also a bar at night and they do karaoke here which is fun! Service was amazing!

I will state the obvious, these are just about the two most expensive dishes on the menu, but man, they had heaps of seafood and were absolutely delicious! It's a longtime local favorite of mine and my go-to spot for meeting up with friends--equal parts escape and comfort. The cocktail menu is impressively deep, full of beautifully crafted, fancy tiki drinks that practically beg to be explored, and so far every single one I've tried has been delicious (dangerously so). Inside, the bar nails the classic tiki vibe--warm, immersive, and transportive--while the outdoor patio offers a lovely, relaxed option with plenty of extra seating on warm days. The staff deserve a special shout-out: genuinely friendly, attentive, and accommodating, which only adds to the overall experience. A quick pro tip: if you're planning to stop by during popular after-work hours, definitely make a reservation--it fills up for good reason. The food menu is on the smaller side, but the bites are tasty and thoughtfully done, perfect for sharing alongside a round (or two) of cocktails. It definitely stands out from the run-of-the-mill brunch benedict. Vegetable Hash (roasted sweet potatoes, garnet yams, sunchokes, cauliflower, cremini mushrooms, celery root & onion, savoy spinach & poached eggs): This was also delicious and also set itself apart from the standard brunch hash. I loved the different vegetables in it besides being just potatoes and onions. The mushrooms and root vegetables worked really well together. Everything was well-seasoned. I'm glad we ended up choosing these dishes even though neither were my original top choices (I decided on the menu with my friend). It made me feel like you can choose anything and it'd be a banger. We were quite full from these dishes, and we forget we also ordered beignets to come out last. They were fluffy and mostly air (but not in a bad way). The service throughout the meal was good. We were checked on from time-to-time and our waters were refilled, although I wish the water glasses were a little bigger. One small thing to note was that we were given the check while we were still eating, even though the restaurant was still seating people despite it being close to closing time. Unsure if/why we were rushed like this. Overall, this was a memorable brunch spots I've been to in the Bay (dare I say one of the best?). We left smelling like a campfire. I would recommend it.

I stopped by here for happy hour and had a really pleasant experience! They offer $10 classic…read morecocktails and discounts on appetizers like chips and salsa and guac, French fries, nachos, and other bites. I ordered a classic martini with a twist, it wasn't my favorite drink ever but it was made well, just not my usual. After that I ordered a classic margarita which was super good and came with a black salt rim and dehydrated lime. The margarita was super tasty and both drinks were made right away! For food, I ordered the chips and salsa and guac. The guac was very good, it tasted fresh and was a good size portion. The salsa was really good, it was chipotle tasting but had a lime tanginess to it that was unique and refreshing. They were generous with the portion of chips and the chips were thick and crispy and seasoned well with just a little bit of salt. I also ordered the impossible taquitos which came with guac, sour cream, and salsa on top. The presentation was beautiful and the food came out fast but the taste was a bit weird, it wasn't bad but it just tasted like burger meat in a taquito. I really appreciate that they offered a meat alternative but wish it tasted better, like maybe use potatoes instead of fake meat, or use fake chorizo over a burger seasoning. It would also be nice if there was a vegan version not just a vegetarian version. Despite my critiques of the food, I have no critiques for the service and atmosphere! My server was phenomenal and attentive and checked in often! I had a great experience and look forward to coming back but would definitely be more eager to come back if they updated with more vegan options!
