The lady pouring it poured majority champagne and a drop of orange juice LOL Food was good. I ordered the vegan fish and chips! I was quite surprised to see this on the menu. Walt from Walt's Adventures in Alameda, California at a restaurant called Hobnob. This caused eatery has both indoor and outdoor dining. Street parking is available but challenging. The food all had the heart of a fine cook. The mac n cheese was to die for and the Gouda burger never stood a chance. Each dish was filled with flavors and was highlights of our experience. This selection is perfect for families or even to host business meetings where conversations can be conducted. The lack of a star was the result for timing as we waited to receive each of our selected items from the waters, to the extra utensils to having our appetizers and main courses presented together rather than separate. We are en route to Ariana Grande and had to grab some food! We saw this place online and it looked promising! We were greeted by a super sweet member of staff and seated instantly! Solid food place with decent vegan options but not many. I'm vegan and have been here a handful of times for breakfast and lunch. The vegan tofu scramble was okay but not anything I would go back for, I'm glad that there was a vegan breakfast option but wish it was a little more creative. We came out to Alameda to beat the inland heat & had a nice time walking around the downtown area, as well as checking out some lovely breweries. Before coming, I checked out the menu for the restaurant, to make sure they had plenty of vegan & vegetarian options, which they did! Our waitress was super sweet & very attentive, & our food came out fairly quickly. I ordered a half wedge salad without the bacon, & it was absolutely delicious! The dill & toasted almonds were a unique touch. He ordered the Brie Burger, & subbed the meat for a Beyond patty. Super mouthwatering! Then we shared the vegan fish & chips & it was sooo amazing! This is a lovely place with indoor and outdoor seating, full length bar, and TVs that aren't so loud as to be intrusive. We went for the bottomless mimosa brunch on Sunday. Our waitress was a very nice woman, but they do have a male waiter we have had before we weren't too fond of. Anyway, the coffee is great. The food is ok. Not much on the seasoning and we were never brought any salt or pepper. We had beignets with caramel sauce that were fantastic. I had the corned beef hash, which wasn't hash at all. Just some shoestring potatoes, pieces of corned beef, and poached eggs. Gluten free toast is extra. My guest had the works which was regular country style potatoes, poached eggs, and bacon. I came here last night for a personal event. I told the owner that I was not going to do a review tonight, but he actually stated for me to do one... so here it goes. For the event, we had reserved labels on our tables. The waiter took drink orders, then food orders. I came late and requested to be the last one to place a food and drink order because I did not want to hold the others up. The waiter forgot about me. He never returned. Fortunately, a waitress was bringing something over to a table buddy of mine and I was able to place my order with her. However, I ordered 2 drinks. One was supposed to come immediately after ordering and the other with my food. The waitress said she was going to try to plan the one with my food so it came out together. She forgot about my 1st drink until reminded almost 20 mins later. I ordered my food which was $17.50 sliders with a substitute of fries $2.. and add bacon $2. When my food came, it came with some sort of greens (Arugula salad..I think) and a side of fries. I don't understand why I got salad because I substituted it for fries. My fries came out first, which made no sense because I ordered my food together. However, upon tasting the fries.. they were cold in some parts..smh. I sent them back for hot fries. The sliders seemed overcooked because they were dry. I'm used to sliders being juicy and soft. My sliders were hard...smh. I did not bother to send them back because I was with many people and I really did not feel like going through the motions tonight..as I normally would have of my food order is just wrong. When the bill came, I noticed that they charged me $9 for a large fries. If it was only +2 to substitute... why did I get charge that? I went on and paid it without complaints. There were at least 4 ppl who ordered food before me and they still did not get their food and it was like an hour passing. I had 2 glasses of wine (Malbec & Blanc). Both were good. I loved the fact that they had karaoke. However, I disliked the fact that people who had gone once still went a 2nd time although there were plenty of people who still had not gone a 1st time. I think this place is chill. They need to do better with accomodating larger parties in both a timely manner and effectively ensuring food is correct, hot and cooked to perfection. I think they probably do best with a table of 4 or 5 ppl. Lastly, it was super hot in here. Yes there are ceiling fans. However, it seems that they have no central air whatsoever. That's ridiculous. Oh BTW.. no waiter ever came back to our table to ask if we wanted to order anything more. They also did not come over to ask if the food was good either. Our finshed plates say in front of us from the time we got it until almost 11pm. I would say that my table received food by 8:30ish. read more

I've been here a handful of times and each time, I always have a great experience! They remodeled it I think after the pandemic and I love the modern, sleek interior. I am usually here for brunch and bottomless mimosas. I have tried many items on their menu, but I always end up with the hobnob hash. It is so good. Everything here does not disappoint. This last visit, we ordered the Hobnob hash, Benedict, pancake special and beignets. Everything was delicious. Their special menu items are usually good too, so don't be afraid to order that. I've been to hobnob and have had only great experiences. My Vegan GF introduced me to the restaurant to enjoy their vegan fish n chips which really were superior to other vegan fish n chips we've tried. She came for the vegan fish n chips, but I stayed for the Surf and Turf appetizer which could be an entree in itself (please never take this off the menu). We also ordered... - The brussell sprouts appetizer without any dairy product to make it vegan. They were great. - Fried Chicken Sandwich - had everything I like in a friend chicken sando. - Harvest moon cocktail - my favorite cocktail thus far that they offer. - Smokey the bear cocktail - which comes in a pretty adorable bear shaped glass. We also happened to be there on a night when there was an artist playing an acoustic guitar set which set a very nice mood. I believe he had some backing tracks which gave the set a fuller vibe. It appeared everyone in attendance appreciated the music. I definitely got more than I bargained for in a very good way. I also love that they have booths for seating. I prefer to sit side by side with my GF. It was nice to be able share food, enjoy a good cocktail, take in a music show, and sit side by side while we did so. Happy hour offers some tasty bites and sips for a good value. The service I have received is better than I would expect for sitting outside (where it's easier to forget about patrons). My servers have been attentive and check frequently on our table during happy hour to take advantage of the time frame. It's worth coming back to this spot for the happy hour value and the tasty standout menu item: the tortilla burger, which is flavorful and juicy, but not soggy. My favorite is the coffee rubbed steak with country style potatoes topped off with a bottomless mimosa - there is nothing better!!! We ordered fish chips, truffle fries, croquettes and Brussel sprouts. When the menu offer Brussel sprouts, it's definitely getting ordered. But imo, this wasn't the best, not the worst either. It says there's a balsamic glaze but i didn't taste it. I seen speckles of it, but the flavors weren't there. Fish and chips were good, very meaty. It says it was beer battered, but it looks between beer battered and tempura. The croquettes were really good, very creamy. Not sure if it was supposed to be more potato-ey, but it didn't taste like there was much. More like soupy consistency? Truffle fries have definitely changed since my last visit. Surprisingly, the place serves alcohol and was full of underage kids, that, or obeying the law, and enjoying their dinner by themselves, or with their parents. I was very pleased to accept that trust, and enjoy that pleasant service provided by Maria. All the food that we've ordered, was done, just as we requested - not over fried, flavored, and met the needs of dining. Congratulations to the chef! I had a seared cod steak in quarters, perfectly seasoned with an aioli sauce on a bed of roasted peppers, spinach and quinoa. It was out of this world! At best this place deserved a one star for their service and that's extremely fair because i can't put zero stars. The service here was extremely terrible. I would never come back, considering i brought my friends I had higher expectations for this place. It was a major let down. On top of that i have never been so disrespected by a server and much more received a sour attitude from staff when asking for basic customer service. After a delicious American breakfast a block away, we went to The Hobnob. Really enjoyed our time here. Our bartender's recommendation was excellent with their house daiquiri, Mule cocktail while I enjoyed their Lost Coast Beer. Their bar food menu was excellent. Their Chicken waffle looked so good as well as their pancakes. We will definitely be back here for brunch. Really love their Several Large screen TV too.
