Went to Lemon Drop on a Saturday night for a girls' night out. The decor is really cute and I loved the ambiance--it has a fun, inviting vibe. We sat outside by the fire pit, which made it even better. The bartender had great energy and was definitely a highlight of the night. There were a few birthday celebrations going on, and he kept the energy up and made it feel lively. We ordered two rounds of the "Man at the Garden." The drink is aesthetically pleasing, but the taste was just okay--nothing special. The servers were nice, but service was a bit slow. We were left unattended long enough for the ice in our second round to melt, which was a little disappointing. We wanted to try another drink, but after waiting so long, we ended up just being ready to leave. Came here for a quick bite and had to get a lemon drop while we're here. It's seriously the best, if you haven't tried it yet. The ambiance is causal and almost like an old dive bar that was revived. The servers were all very nice and greeted us right away. Food and drinks came out quick! The food here is interesting! It's a short bar menu of light bites with an Indian fusion twist. There are veggie fritters, samosas and even a chai cocktail to name a few. We tried the chicken tikka masala tacos (a little dry, but flavorful!), the naan and sauce (I wish the naan was fluffier!), and the popcorn chicken with French fries. Love it here! We stopped in for drinks on a Saturday evening around 7pm, had no problem getting a very comfortable lounge seat in the corner near the bar. The staff were very friendly and attentive, the bartender was knowledgeable and friendly as well. I had an old fashioned and it was perfectly made, pricing was very reasonable. We will definitely come back here, especially because they have a dog friendly patio, so it would be perfect for an afternoon cocktail with the pup. read more

I always enjoy this spot every time i visit! i'm so glad this place is in alameda. The happy hour menu is great, from drinks to food. I like the crispiness of the wings with the sauces as well. They actually gave us the wrong order, but we were already eating so they ended up giving us our right order still. The flat bread could be a bit more crispier with the crust. but the flavor was there! Now to the drinks, i very much appreciate their seasonal drinks. The vibe was awesome from the moment we walked in. We had every visible staff member welcome us in. It is seat yourself, we found our seat and did not wait 30 seconds for our server to come to the table with menus. Great attitude, ready to answer any questions we had. We had a margarita and a lemon drop (of course!) and the drinks were excellent! We ordered the fish tacos and the chicken tikka masala tacos. They were AWESOME! The fish was cooked perfect with a delicious batter, the chipotle sauce was spicy spicy but so flavorful, it was pleasant to eat. The tikka masala tacos were a complete surprise! In a great way. I'm still high on this place. We come in here periodically when we want a drink because it is honestly probably the nicest bar in Alameda. The vibe is still great. Ow that they remodeled they serve food and that's awesome., I don't usually go in here for the food, so I don't have much to say about that. On our most recent visit, they had a new bartender who was pretty inexperienced, but so friendly she made up for it. Someone really should tell her, though, that martinis, contrary to what James Bond thinks, should actually be stirred and not shaken. Also, can you guys please quit buying olives with pits -- it's obnoxious. Anyway, overall it's awesome and you should go. Just make sure you have a few dollars, two modest size cocktails will set you back 35 bucks after the tip. read more

Sooooo. I rarely post negative reviews because I know it really can effect a business but the service was so bad that I think folks should know. The drink I had was absolutely delicious but had I wanted another one, I would have had to get it myself. Our waitress took or order brought us our drinks and then was never seen again. My chicken wings were very over-seasoned but otherwise not bad. We placed our order at 5:53pm, at 6:37, my partner and I had finished our wings and fish n' chips. My daughter still had not received her tikka masala flatbread so I got up and asked the bartender what was going on. He said he'd check. Lots of minutes later, still no flatbread. I got up and asked the bartender again. Finally the flatbread gets brought by the new waitress. By now we were ready to go but the waitress never came back to check on us, in fact no one had checked on us in the more than one hour we were there. I got up and flagged down the waitress and asked for our check and a box for the rest of our flatbread. We watched the waitress as she went back and forth a bunch of times. She seemed not very conservative in her movement and kept going back and forth rather than getting all the stuff done. Maybe she's just learning. Finally she brought us the bill and a box. But the staff were not attentive nor particularly friendly. They did comp us the flatbread. The Bay Area is extremely competitive for bars and restaurants. The drink was so good but the service was just not up to par with what I would have expected. The ambiance was fine and it was not crowded at all. Lemon Drop, or rather the space it occupies, used to be a place called Lemon Tree. Lemon Tree was a den of iniquity. Driving by, you would regularly see the 'over served' stumbling around and even passed out on the sidewalk. If you were walking down the block, you would cross the street. Thankfully, this unfortunate place closed down, and sometime later, reopened as a markedly nicer establishment known as Lemon Drop (but frankly, after Lemon Tree, there's nowhere to go but up). Lemon Drop has been in Alameda for a few years now, and has done well. It consistently gets a lot of business, especially on the weekends. It has a lounge-y vibe, with plenty of tables, if you're with a group or don't feel like sitting at the bar. The staff is friendly and attentive. The bartenders are great and expertly mix a cocktail. Try the Peaches & Cream, which I hope they keep on the menu permanently, it is delicious. They have a totally adequate food menu, and again, other bar places, please take note: serve food! - and Cheetos don't count. Lemon Drop's food menu includes flatbreads, samosas, tacos, even oysters. You can also bring in food from the Indian market next door; I believe the owners of the two establishments are related. Extra points for them being open late, when most of Alameda's sidewalks roll up early. If you feel like getting dinner beforehand, Sushi Broadway is directly across the street, there's the very nice Asena restaurant a block or so away, and plenty of eateries nearby on Park St. Cheers and enjoy! read more

Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday and we sat at the bar. It was Monday and it wasn't too busy. Bartender was GREAT! Loved watching them craft the drinks, especially the Tajin Bae. The Tajin Bae was delicious. My friend's cosmo was exactly what she wanted for her birthday. I also got a gin and tonic (made with a requested St. George's Terrior gin) later and they have a VERY extensive full bar. LOVE IT! They now have a very delicious food menu and the kitchen doesn't close until 11! We got the Tandoori Street Tacos trio of lamb, prawn and chicken, the Tikka Masala flatbread, tuna tartare, and hamburger. All so scrumptious and filling and the price not too bad for the portion size. The decor inside is so chic and inviting. They also have outdoor seating in front with electric fire pits. We came here after a wedding dress fitting and it turned out to be the perfect spot for a celebratory lunch. This is my 6th time here. I love lemon drops and i'm sure they make a great one, however, I cannot get away from the Sage The Gemini. Ok, I'm stepping out on a limb here but if there was a "feminine" bloody mary, this drink is it. It's weird but that's a compliment. Parking is typical Alameda street parking, they have indoor/outdoor seating that's great on a nice day. Also, an elevated seated area inside that's perfect for a birthday or feeling like Mac Dre. So been going here for years and have had many good times but last night was the last time. The manager Malik thinks that publicly embarrassing customers is the way to get good reviews I guess ‍! The staff was super friendly and I was helped by a lovely woman named Presley.
