Literally your local neighborhood dive bar. You may not know about this place until you actually are from the area! It's on a quiet street with surrounding houses and apartments. Not in a prime spot for city nightlife, so definitely something iykyk. Walking in, it was a little better than expected. Although, there were all sorts of smells (coming from people maybe?) throughout the bar lol. It's cool there's a pool table on the end of the bar, which is $1 to play. First come first serve. Vibes are chill while they play hip hop music in the back. Everyone mainly sits outside, but they also have a patio that's pretty cute with all the string lights. One man is working, so he's basically the bartender and cleanup of this bar. Does the job if you wanna just grab a drink. read more

I use the words "Neighborhood dive bar" in only the best possible way. Walkable with the dog and incredibly dog friendly, this place is the epitome of a neighborhood gathering place. On top of that, the food's really good! Their tacos are tasty, and the sleeper on the menu is the spicy tuna melt. *chef's kiss* from any of our friend group who've had it. The nachos, pretzel, and soups of the day also bring something homey. You can walk in and see island folks you know, or quickly start getting to know a friendly new someone. We love it here. Likes: local focused, full bar. Gives you options for inside or outside. Want to be alone and with dog? You can hang outside. Want to watch lots of sportsball, go to the bar. This is a great dog-friendly dive bar with wonderful food. There are tables outside. There are a few parking spots in the lot in front. I suppose this is a throwback to the days when this was a bait shop. We ate outside, the interior looks small. My friends had chips and salsa, a grilled cheese sandwich with pickles, and a slider. They had beers. The doggie had a beef patty and water. I had the ceviche and a glass of red wine. It was perfect, this dish often has too much vinegar, and this one did not. I would like to go back and try some of the other food. I really enjoyed the meal and the location. I hope to stop here again. read more

The service at the bar was shitty and rude. The beer selection is good. The food was ok. People are smoking right outside the bar, so even if you are not next to the smokers the disgusting, unhealthy smoke still reaches you while you are trying to eat and enjoy your beer. read more

Date: 6/17/2022 Times: 6:00 PM 65° Sunny I haven't been to this dive bar for almost six years. At that time, the event was a reunion for those of us who attended two high schools in Oakland. The owner was a high school classmate of my oldest sister. I also knew the owner all the way back when we attended the same elementary school. After the bad experience and treatment that my husband and I received, we never went back to any of reunions. Being berated and scolded through an email from the organizer of the reunion, which resulted in my feelings being hurt, I chose not to have anything to do with them. I found out just recently that this dive bar has a new owner. My husband and I were going to stop in yesterday after the Golden State Warriors win in the NBA final. It was also our 33rd wedding anniversary. We imagined the bar would be crowded and decided we will visit a day later. Earlier this evening, we checked out Boathouse. What a way to celebrate an NBA Finals win and our 33rd wedding anniversary but show up at a dive bar. Hey, there is nothing wrong with that. We met two nice people, Kim and Pep. Definitely, this visit was much better. The ambiance is much nicer and cleaner than before. Kurt, the bartender, is friendly and pleasant. I told him about the bad experience that my husband and I encountered. He reassured me the bad experience was not going to happen. Lighting at the bar is better. There are two flat screen TV's mounted on the wall. Giants are playing against the Pirates. Score 2-0, Giants. Good. Eats: Spicy tuna panini for husband; ceviche tostada, chicken taco with onion and cilantro and pork taco with mango salsa. I enjoyed my meal even though I could not finish it. Leftovers for a late night snack. Ceviche was quite good with freshly squeezed lime juice, chicken taco was a tad salty and pork taco with mango salsa was delicious. Return visit? Yes, for the ceviche and pork taco. read more

Fun spot for a drink and some food! Was really surprised they had food. Drove by a bunch of times and glad we finally went in.

Overpriced. Also I think they sell alcohol to minors. Ambience seemed weird & creepy. Service was meh.

I enjoy Boathouse and the small town vibes it gives. There is a chill atmosphere, they have good drinks and attentive bartenders (Janet + Christian). The only downside is that I don't enjoy when there is that guitar guy there randomly strumming songs in the background. They turn all of the music off and it makes it low key uncomfortable and really puts the vibe in an odd place. The guitar guy doesn't sing, he doesn't play entire songs and he doesn't even play songs that are fun/exciting/good bar vibes. This is an entirely too huge downfall because atmosphere and music in a bar play an insurmountable part in the success and continuity of business. I actually left when the man started playing his guitar again because it was honestly really odd and just put the whole mood. I will definitely return and I sincerely hope that I don't accidentally come on another night where this random man is playing his guitar at random parts of the night. I would literally walk out again if that happened haha. No hate to guitar man it's just weird that they shut off the entire bar music to let this dude strum his guitar in background. Also the kitchen was closed but they served select folks in the bar, which I was not one of and I was hungry. Hopefully they standardize the rules and entertainment. Cheers!! read more

I started off the day looking for a parking spot for the Art & Wine Festival. I found a spot in front of The Boathouse. I decided to journey into there. I found all the local beers on tap. I was overwhelmed with this wonderful smell from the kitchen. I decided to try some food & ended up trying half the menu. It was like I was going up the stairway to heaven. I highly recommend the chicken nachos & the chicken tacos. Absolutely delicious. The service was quick and friendly. Fun atmosphere. I ended up not going to the Art/Wine Festival. read more

I came pretty early at 12 noon, it was empty and a young lady at the bar helped me. I've never been here so I usually go with my normal midori sour, she didn't have the the necessities but she made me this vodka strawberry sour, soooooo freaking good. Just because of that I will be coming back, seems like such a chill vibe here as well. read more

I almost don't want to review this place, because it's so perfect as is. But the owner deserves his due. Get it straight--this is a little dive that serves the folks on the marina and closes early. As it should--makes total sense. Beyond that, we're taking EPIC sandwiches and delicious wine on tap. Plus a great clientele (stop instagraming and put your phone away--these guys have stories). Had to visit-- the place used to look a bit more dive-ish than I'd like. But now, it is clean and quite nice. Hubby was told that the sandwiches were pretty good, so, off we went for a night on the town. Or something like that. We were not disappointed. The bartender/chef/owner is an interesting and engaging fellow. He has cleaned the place up so that old ladies like me feel welcome. The bathroom was clean, so that was a big plus. I gave five stars because this place has amazing potential, still and all, I would like to see a bit more choices for the food. I know, I know, limited kitchen and all, but I think there are options. My brain is reeling with things one can make on a panini grill. However, the choices seem to be a home run hit. I got the hot Italian, and Hubby got the Cubano. I was very happy with mine, and Hubby didn't complain. There were several surprises in this place. First, the owner has a sommelier certificate. --Not really something you see very often in a place like that. Second, the guy knows food. I am anxiously awaiting for more offerings from this chef turned bartender! Next, you can pick up a six pack or a cold bottle of wine here. A score for people who live nearby at the marina. And last-- there is room for a small band or a tiny restaurant, or a convenience store, as well as a microscopic patio that could hold a table or two. Bring your crowd-- sports team, bachelor party, lunch meeting, employee party, there is room for you all. Just warn the guy before you arrive, a one man operation needs some prep time to please a crowd. Call ahead to order and pick great sandwiches up for dinner!
