Visited Mix Bar on a busy Saturday night around 8pm. We were welcomed and sat at a high top. We got our goldfish snacks for the table and offered. I was excited by the menu of cocktails and love Lychee Martinis so I tried theirs. It was sweet but not too sweet and refreshing. My partner had the pandan old fashion and really got the pandan flavor. It was a bit loud for us, but that is a personal preference. Everyone was very friendly and would love to come back for a happy hour sometime soon!

About last night... I was showing my friends from SF a good time in Alameda and decided to take them to check out my boy DJ Wonder. It was a good time to be had by all. I was so proud of Alameda's Mix Bar representing for the City (SF) folks. They had an amazing time and raved about the DJ spinning a cool blend or Hip Hop, R&B, and Old School and eclectic mix with something for everyone. My friends admired the elegant space and crystal glasses. The service was great as usual. Mike the proprietor is always hands on and making sure guests are well taken care of. If you have not stopped in, you must!!!

Best bar popcorn ever lol. I came in on a Friday night - it was poppin with a DJ. First there was no more popcorn but they were kind enough to make more for me! The bartender showed me all the things they season their popcorn with and I was impressed lol it ain't your average bar popcorn! In addition to the usual butter and popcorn salt, he was putting in like chile seasoning of some kind and sriracha?! I don't remember everything but it tasted great and had a little kick. The Asian inspired cocktails were delicious. I wasn't drinking that night but they have NA options - I had the lychee mocktail called White Rabbit. All the bartenders and staff and event other people were super friendly and fun. I saw a bartender doing a shot with customers lol YES this is the vibe I need! It's an Asian owned new bar - such fun, good vibes here - I'll try to tell everyone I know to come and support!

I walked in on a limb just to check out the spot and see what's up. They give you complimentary popcorn which is a nice surprise, I wish more bars did that nowadays. I got the house martini and it was good and also strong haha. The bar wasn't too busy for a Saturday night, kinda more quiet but since they have a DJ, it really just depends on the day you go.

Mix in Alameda is an absolute gem of a spot, and DJ--the bartender--runs an amazing bar program that really elevates the whole vibe with fantastic craft drinks and incredible service.

Made a reservation for a Saturday and was able to grab a seat at the bar. This was definitely a necessity. I'll always keep this in mind when planning a visit here. Upon arrival, we were met to cute tiki interior, dollars overhead (my version of heaven), and an incredible staff! It was such a warm and welcoming environment. The staff was mega nice and helped us answer all of our burning questions. The drinks were perfect! I honestly can't remember everything I had, but the menu was expansive and all the drinks were tasty. We got a bit hungry and ordered some empanadas. I loved these! I loved all the sweet sour and spicy flavors and how everything going so perfectly with the vegetables and rice noodles!! my boyfriend actually made fun of me because surprise me, I ate a whole bowl! I wasn't too hungry, but the vermicelli tasted so delicious especially after I poured that sweet and sour sauce over everything and I actually ate the whole entire bowl and I forgot to take a picture of my food!! I thought it was quite funny, but the Environment reminded me of -perhaps shipyard almost like TGIF Fridays if it was on a boat?! If that makes any sense? I will definitely come back here again since my boyfriend left his burger, and I had his fries and they were tasty and crunchy! And I definitely love the lemongrass chicken vermicelli!

I ordered the NY Steak Sandwich ($21) on housemade focaccia, grilled thinly sliced new york strip, gruyere, heirloom tomato, grilled onions, arugula, sundried tomato aioli, & mixed greens. It was divine, the buttery focaccia was magical. Oddly, it tasted like mushroomsC but there weren't any on it...I checked three times. The housemade lemonade was very tart. A little more than I'd prefer, but definitely fresh. I absolutely loved the layout of the restaurant and where we were seated, right by the open windows at the front. It was such a nice day our seats were prime real estate. The one thing I didn't vibe with was how our server interrupted our conversation about the cash I needed change for her tip. She essentially was like, "just" leave me a 40% tip. I really didn't want to, but I was also not interested in making it awkward for all of us involved. Overall, highly rated for a reason and I'd come back because the food was good.

My favorite part is their collection thoughtful, balanced, complex drinks. If you want a variety of delectable old fashioneds with different spirits -- you're in luck! ---- Drinks ---- The cocktails are the main reason we keep coming back! Old Fashioned menu. They actually have several varieties and I've really appreciated how they use a different spirit for each! I won't review every single one, but you can't go wrong based on what flavor profile you want. They're all relatively sophisticated, balanced, spirit-forward, and consistently well made. The rest of the cocktail menu is equally thoughtful. Complex, creative, and well executed without trying too hard or going over the top with flavors or presentation. The food is delicious as well although we're usually just here for drinks before/after a meal. More small bites than full meals, but everything we've had has been tasty and pairs well with the drinks. We really enjoyed the empanadas; great flavor and execution. ---- Environment ---- Warm, cozy, and stylish -- but not pretentious or obnoxious. Music volume is always at a level where you can actually have a conversation, which I really appreciate! It does get busy, especially on weekends, but it's never been extreme. We've been seated immediately or only with a short wait most times. ---- Service ---- Friendly, welcoming, and attentive! Always had good experiences with the staff even when busy. Most of them have good recommendations. ---- Tips ---- Make a reservation if you can! Walk-ins are definitely possible, though you may end up sharing a larger communal table. We've done it before and honestly didn't mind. The bathroom can occasionally have a bit of a wait. ---- Overall ---- Love this place. It's become our go-to spot whenever we're in the mood for great cocktails and a relaxed evening and want a reliable experience. One of my favorite cocktail bars in Alameda.
