The Spice Room in the Highlands is the best one too, the others are great but this one is the best. A fantastic meal with good service at a great price- hard to come by in Denver! A few dedicated parking spots in front or otherwise on the surrounding streets.. whatever it is, don't let it deter you from coming bc they won't let you down. There's ~15 tables & everything is so fresh! You're served complimentary sauces with a thin roti-like cracker, and the sauces are all so good- my favorite is the cilantro one or the tamarind sweet one.. and they all go great on your dishes. The best appetizers are the samsosa chhole chaat- it's like a deconstructed samosa with crunchy bits & sauces on top, soooo good you won't want a regular samosa again! My other favorites are Chicken 65 & the veggie pakora (fried veg nests). Those 3 alone are enough for 2 people, but if you're super hungry, the entrees won't let you down either! Chicken makhani, biryani, tandoori chicken &/or the curries are where you'll never go wrong. All in all, I suggest you prioritize this Spice Room if you're even slightly an Indian food fan! The restaurant was packed, which definitely says something about how popular it is, but the service was still excellent and attentive. The food was honestly some of the best Indian food I've ever had! I also loved the variety on the menu there were so many delicious options to choose from, and everything we tried was full of flavor. My new go-to Indian spot! I'm so happy I found this place! The food is absolutely delicious, fresh, and packed with flavour. They have such a great variety of dishes to choose from, with plenty of meat and vegetarian options, so there's truly something for everyone. And if you like spice, this is definitely your place. You can choose from different levels of heat for each dish, which I loved. The mango lassi was SO good, and the service was just as wonderful as the food. I was asking about their iced chai after seeing someone else enjoying one, and they were kind enough to bring me a complimentary one to try, such a thoughtful touch. The staff are genuinely kind, attentive, and constantly checking in to make sure you have everything you need without being overbearing. They have two locations, this one is their smaller spot, but it still feels warm, welcoming, and spacious enough to enjoy with a group. Both locations have such a cozy atmosphere that makes you want to stay awhile. I also noticed a constant stream of takeout orders being picked up while we were there, which tells me I'm definitely not the only one who thinks this place is amazing. It's been 3 years since I visited their original location in Berkeley/West Highlands neighborhood. I usually visit the Colfax Ave location. The inside decor was the same, but their menu was easier to go thru. It was light colored instead of the dark background on other menus. This menu did indicate a range of Indian comfort foods (Dosa, Idli and Medu Vada) is only available at their location near Olde Town Arvada. So I need to revisit them. I was served by Indira N. Lunch prices are lower for the same of amount of food for dinner. I got a Family Jones Earl Grey Negroni served in a martini glass. I got an order of vegetable samosa. Two large pieces that were well filled. I got Chicken Korma. This is their mildest curry with cashews, coconut milk and spices. Plenty of steamed basmati rice. I ate it all. Indira kept coming back to check on me and kept my water glass filled. I had no trouble redeeming my $7 Toast birthday reward and earned more points to be used in the future. read more

I cannot believe it took as long as it did to get here. To be fair we did try a couple times and the parking was so packed we couldn't find a spot. All pointing to an excellent experience. The timing was right for my husband and I to come for a Sunday lunch. The service was fast and friendly. We started with potato sliders that were really good but not as good as our main courses. My husband opted for the lamb tiki masala and I opted for the eggplant (Baingan Bharta) Thali meal. The dal soup and spiced potatoes that came in the Thali were incredible. The Thali caught my eye as it's essentially a traditional platter with a variety of balanced small plates from rice to potatoes to dal soup and even dessert all on a single tray. I got it with Butter Chicken which was so good! Highly recommend as it was creamy, medium spicy, and very aromatic. I absolutely loved the street-style chaat! It's creamy, crunchy, cold, and loaded with flavors and textures. Such a satisfying bite and I almost couldn't stop until it was gone. I love that this Thali came with both rice & naan as I usually want both and can't decide lol! The rice was fluffy and aromatic from the cumin while the garlic naan was fresh, soft, and delicately brushed with garlic & parsley. I didn't care for the dal soup (bit too watery) or the jeera potatoes (bit undercooked) but the dessert was a nice way to end the meal. Their options included rice pudding and gulab jamun; I went with the "healthier" option lol. It was creamy, sweet, and cooled down my palate after the various dishes. The Lamb Biryani was another good try! The lamb chunks were tender and seasoned, the rice was aromatic, and it paired well with the onions and raita (yogurt sauce). We have been patronizing spice room for years. It's always delicious. Everything is cooked to order and done well with the requested spice. Regulars are chicken tikka masala, chicken korma, kadai, cheesy garlic naan, chai tea, samosa chaat, garlic spicy cauliflower and others. All so good Full bar. Cozy interior that is always loud and full of people. It's clean and restrooms are ok. Patio is ok when we have the dog but not a Juliet of their experience. Limited seating inside and reservations are recommended for peak times and weekends. It's 4pm on a Saturday and the restaurant was over half full and a dozen people have come and gone for take out. Food was fresh and full flavored. We got one Butter Chicken and one Lamb Madrass, both came with rice. We got medium spice and it wasn't overbearing or too spicy at all. We also got the Garlic Cheese Naan which was sooo soft! The Mango Lassi was also really good, not too sour. Service was quick, didn't wait for a table on a Friday night. Food came out very quick and were made fresh to order. Ambiance is nice and clean, smells like lots of spices when you walk in, which gets your appetite up! They have so many options of curries to choose from! Each curry comes with an order of rice. We ordered garlic and cheese naan which tastes so fresh and soft. The rice is a bit plain but goes well with the heavier curries like the Madrass. Curries are packed with flavor and is the perfect take-out meal. The crackers were a good appetizer with the four sauces it came with. The service was fast as the food came out even faster. So, I came here a couple times in the past. It didn't really stand out in my memory (no negative ass associations, but no burning desire to come here again). However, I have been going to the Arvada location quite a bit the last year or so. And since this location is conveniently located just two long blocks away from the Federal Theater, I decided I needed to try it again. It is really good. It is the exact same menu as the Arvada location. The service is very good. Prices are a bit steep, but that is par for the course these days. The food is really well-made, I have not had anything here that I did not think was well prepared. Probably my biggest problem is trying to decide between ordering one of my old favorites or trying something new. Sometimes you get rewarded with something amazing and other times you realize "oh yes, those aren't quite the flavors I was looking for". But, I can definitely recommend this location and we'll be eating here again. Uber convenient to grab dinner here before going to a concert or other show at the Federal Theater. read more

The Spice Room did it again-amazing Indian food! We ate way too much went to bed extra full but when the food is that good how do you stop? The chicken Shahenshah is our favorite dish and we always get that with naan and we've started getting the french fries because french fries and curry is just an unbeatable combination. I'm a big fan of their Chana saag and the sag paneer also very good. In fact I've never had a bad meal there. Lately we order all of our spice room online and pick it up and eat it at home and I've been really impressed by their commitment to using sustainable packaging. Wonderful! We had been to another one of their Spice Rooms in Arvada and it was perfection. I thought I'd show the family this other location, and it was just as delicious! We are now huge fans. We used to love Yak and Yeti, but the quality went down and so we've been on a hunt for a new Indian/Nepalese. This is it. The hunt is over. We love this place, the service, the quality, the ambiance. I'm willing to bet that even though they have several locations, the quality is top notch each time. While the ambiance wasn't as pretty on 38th as it was in Arvada, it still made up for it with the excellent food and service. Glad to have found a new favorite! read more

Food: this place is so good! I love their naan so much. They bring out garlic naan and it just envelopes you in all of its garlicky goodness. I got the garlic cheese naan last night and it was phenomenal. My friend got date naan, which is turning into a new craving of mine. The sweet and savory combo is lovely! The chicken Tikka and makhani were both superb! The food came out piping hot. The rice was yummy too. Service: The service was good too. My water glass almost never had the chance to get lower than halfway. We were served within 15 minutes of arriving even though it was Diwali and we didn't have a reservation. (Save yourself the stress and call ahead!) Our server ran a tight ship and got us out of there in less than an hour which was perfect so we could make a movie across town. They do take a bit longer to cook, so would recommend ordering them early. We tried some unique dishes, the mango chicken curry and the honey curry. Medium spice packs a punch, in a good way. The honey curry was very sweet, more like an Indian version of a sweet and sour chicken, with fried pieces dripping with honey. I probably wouldn't order it again, but it'd be good for someone who wants something more suited for an Americanized palate. The mango curry was delicious! We got the chicken makhani and chicken vindaloo. I loved the amount of heat in the vindaloo and the chicken in the makhani was very tender. We ordered garlic naan and were disappointed that it was one small piece of it. However, it was very tasty and soft! Overall, Spice Room is a great spot for Indian food and I'd like to dine in so I can try a bunch of the authentic Indian street food appetizers!
