This is absolutely my new favorite bar. As someone who loves Halloween and all things spooky, I was so excited to find this spooky metal vibe dive bar! The decor was top notch and made me feel like I was in a haunted house in the middle of February. Had a deeply disappointing and hostile experience here. When I tried to have a friendly, casual conversation at the door about checking out Portland's burlesque scene, the door staff member forcibly asked what race I was...which was entirely inappropriate, the staff member turned it into an uncomfortable, racially charged argument which I chose to not engage with and I walked away immediately as things got weird. To add to the lack of professionalism, the bar staff was visibly intoxicated. When I reached out to management to address what happened, I was completely gaslighted and dismissed, and even accused of making the staff uncomfortable when I was the one who was subjected to hostile behavior. An unwelcoming and toxic environment, I will not be returning. read more

This is basically a goth bar. It's decorated as such and plays heavy metal/screamo music. It's a fun (but kind of distracting) and unique experience. I visited this place on a date, and I don't think this place suited my date's personality at all, but it was fun to try something different. We sat at the bar and service was okay. We ordered vegan poutine and our server forgot about it until we reminded him quite a while later. The vegan poutine was something I had never tried before anywhere, so I was happy to try something new as a vegetarian, but it wasn't my cup of tea. The sauce was just not my jam. All in all, I recommend coming here for the experience. There's nothing else like it in Denver, and I had never been to a bar like this anywhere else either. The people that work here are truly incredible. It's such an amazing inclusive space. I have been here 3 times now for different events and had such a great time each visit. Today I tried their food for the first time. The brunch to be specific and it was really delicious and huge portions and the prices are really decent I highly recommend trying that out. Ryan got a fun cocktail and I got a mocktail and they were both fun and yummy and had fun names and lots of flavor and we were both pleased with our choices. We experienced the goth brunch today. We did a couple other events and had some great drinks and shots (Crypt juice ) even with friends ! They also have really cool local artists and vendors that come here to sell their items and every time I have come there has been different ones there showing off their amazing talents and crafts. This is such a fun and safe and inclusive spot that i highly recommend! Will be going back again and again! I've been here twice now for vintage reggae night and it's just a cool spot. The front room (main bar) has lots of horror themed posters and some memorabilia kind of stuff. Their cocktail menu has thematic names - I got the Levitated Corpse last time (gin, blackberry, lemon, lillet blanc) which I really enjoyed, light, sweet, and fruity without being too strong or cloying. You get a cool assortment of people here as well. The second/back room is where the performances are and it has a small stage for the musicians to set up. I've been here twice for the Denver vintage reggae society shows and really enjoyed the vibe. First time was one of those frigid afternoons back in January and we went last night as well - it was a lot busier on a Saturday night. People seem cool, everyone's just dancing around and vibing. I love admiring people's clothes and hair at the events too - I need some interesting stuff for reggae night now. I love all the music they play and was happy they had the back room bar open last night too. Great smaller spot for some shows or grabbing a drink or two with friends. And while I haven't eaten there, the menu is really cool and has a lot of vegan options as well, if that's your thing. Street parking only here but even last night we found a spot right around the corner on the side street. read more

Sunday afternoon. Cinco De Mayo. Tres bands. Una fiesta. I've driven by this place countless times before. Talk about missing out. While the decor suggests I might see Glenn Danzig, today was a celebration of a different sort and the Crypt was perfect. Though the space isn't exactly large, people were getting their groove on, especially to the sound of Denver's own Los Alcos. Staff are friendly and the.bar has plenty o' choices, even enough for this beer snob. I wished I hadn't eaten beforehand after seeing what some folks ordered. Vegan is touted, but the normie bites looked stellar. Eating French fries or French onion soup on Cinco De Mayo felt wrong, but they looked delicious. Folks in our group enjoyed the hummus plate, too. This was a low-key event, with people there just to eat and chill on the patio. We did that too, and time got away from us. That happens when you're having a good time. It'd be great to come back whether or not there's music I'm into. read more

I had to try this horror themed dive bar on our Denver vacation! I walked a long way from our rental, and arrived well after dark. The place was pretty busy with local drinkers, my kind of crowd. It wasn't happy hour but the drinks were reasonable, for specialty cocktails. $10 for a Levitated Corpse cocktail, which I drank slowly while taking in all the creepy decor. Love The Crypt. The vibe is just what is needed on a chill night. It's also pretty good on a night where you need exciting energy. The prices for drinks are pretty decent as well. Been here a couple times, but most recent time has been a Monday night. The bar has a decent amount of people, closer to slow than busy. Though, that is my speed for a Monday night. I find it hilariously and sadly ironic that this establishment has a free Palestine flag yet when their Muslim customers request no bacon on y'all's bbq burgers, y'all don't seem to respect that request/ customization. I figured that I would come back a second time and give you all a second chance to redeem yourselves. The second time that I came in and put in an order, I specifically stated "no bacon" I assumed that my order customization would be respected, it unfortunately was not. I don't know if there was a miscommunication between the bartender and myself or the bartender and the cooks, but I double checked with the bartender that I stated no bacon, and she confirmed. I never ever eat pork ever, so when I took a bite of that bbq and bacon was on it I felt like shit for days. Either stop the free Palestine, white liberal virtue signaling, or respect your Muslim customers when they request no pork on their food. I have to say I really enjoyed the atmosphere the most here with the multi colored skulls in one room to the lamps with goat heads and gory props. It's what any horror fan would love. Food is good too. I had a tasty hummus plate. The hummus was prepared very well and was enjoyable. The bartender who was a younger gentleman with dark brown hair and a beard however looked like he was using every fiber of his being to be cordial with my friend and myself. While he still had a grip on himself it looked like he had no patience for us from subtle little tones in his voice to a couple facial expressions that made it obvious he didn'twant to deal with us. We weren't being difficult at all and was still learning how the ordering process was done since we never been here before. Oh, imagine the situation when someone deliberately wants to make his life miserable. If the atmosphere wasn't so cool and the food good I probably wouldn't have been so generous with my stars if I had to base my experience mainly on the service from this one particular person. read more

My wife and I stopped in here prior to a comedy show that was in the area. Horror memorabilia, heavy metal and dim lighting - this all lived up to my expectations for a place called The Crypt! We were just having drinks, but I did look through the food menu and everything looked great. They specialize in vegetarian, vegan and gluten free food, but also have non-veggie options. We definitely want to come back and try something. They had a good draft beer selection and my wife had the Haterade cocktail. She really liked it and the color of it looked creepy in the red lighting of the bar. We had a good experience here and would come back to try some of their vegetarian menu items. Whoa... this is a cool place!! I'm already thinking about planning another trip to CO just to come back to this spot. I have never experienced a bar/restaurant like this one. The music is so fun. If metal is your thing , this is your heaven. The decor is exceptional. Super cool lighting and amazing artwork and posters. The food is out of this world. I was genuinely blown away by how flavorful the Nashville pakora was. I felt good vibes and I knew the food was going to be great but everything still exceeded my expectations. The servers were so personable and welcoming. For a Sunday night , this place was lit so I imagine this is the place to be on a Friday/Saturday night. Visited The Crypt last night and it was so fun! The vibe reminds me of the now closed Tooey's on Colfax. This is a punk/goth bar specializing in yummy vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free menu options. They also have a beef burger for carnivores. Everything we ate was so freaking good! The food is delicious, decor is spooky and they have fun things to keep you entertained! First thing's first - this is a full service bar (with liquor), wine, and beer. They have a couple beers on tap as well as cans of hard seltzer and cider. I didn't see a cocktail menu but you can order just about any liquor drink. I believe wine is Black Box and they had White Claw seltzer. I'm hoping they add a spooky themed cocktail menu in the future, since I'm a sucker for fun cocktails. They also had some non alcoholic drink options too for those not drinking. The food we ordered was sooo good! I'm not sure what they do to their fries but they were crispy and perfectly salty. Seriously these are the best fries I've ever had and I can't recommend them enough! We ordered a vegan eggplant Ruben and pakora fritters. Both were delicious! This is a super cool spot to take a vegan date. I'd come here again just to eat, not even drink. They have a second room in the back with an additional bar, arcade games, pinball, pool, and a photo booth. The back area is worth checking out for the art for sale and neat decor alone. We played a round of pool while finishing drinks and ended the night with a photo booth pic. Definitely don't skip the photo booth-there's a surprise waiting for you on the strip of pictures! A few things to note- there are 2 sets of gender neutral bathrooms (one up front and one in the back bar area). The bathrooms up front contain pictures of the deceased inside as decor. There's a disclaimer before you walk in. If that is bothersome I'd definitely check out the bathrooms in the back area. The back area bathrooms have a cool display of plastic skeletons in the hallway. The lighting throughout the bar is also dim and most lighting is tinted red. I found it to be romantic and spooky, but some may be sensitive to the lighting. Overall 5/5 stars and I can't wait to come back! read more

What a cool place! The Crypt is a punk/metal/horror bar that wears its aesthetic very well. I've been to many bars that try this theme and honestly many of them don't do a very well job at it. They tend to feel watered down or corny. Not this place though! From walking in, the bar, and even the bathrooms, everything is on point (speaking of which, check out the bathrooms next to the main bar for some pretty intense pictures, definitely not for the squeamish). We got some mixed drinks on our visit and they all tasted good with plenty of strength. Prices are pretty average. Overall, this is a neat place to go with some friends or a significant other and grab a drink or two while seeing how many punk flags, metal posters, and horror figures you recognize. I was new to this bar and went with some friends after a concert. We are all very open minded people and usually love new scenes with new people. I am not a super gothic-presenting person, although I love the culture. The people and staff here were extremely unfriendly and mad at me for not understanding some weird rules they had about lining up for drinks, when literally every other bar does the opposite. I'm someone who likes to be involved in the alternative community here in Denver, and I bring a lot of business into this bar; that being said I feel the need to mention that friends and I have often experienced the majority of the staff members being just straight up rude. It's been multiple times on multiple occasions that staff seems to have a major attitude. I've been a service worker myself, I get how frustrating and overwhelming it can be, and I can put up with a lot, so the fact I even feel like saying anything at all is very telling in my opinion. I've seen bartenders yelling at people over seemingly nothing, pushing people out of the way, and consistently refusing to take accountability when they get orders wrong, amongst other things. I really like it there, and I want to keep coming back; but I'm not gonna keep showing up, bringing my homies there if I continue to see this unkindness every time I walk in the door. read more
