Had a dinner reservation for my wife's birthday with my five kids. Despite a reservation they seated us in the bar with little kids. I mentioned on the reservation that I wanted seven pieces of strawberry cake. Come dessert-- not enough cake. It's been several months and I have no plans to return for either business or personal dinning. Update: After several years of avoiding this place, I tried to give it another opportunity. We visited Sperry's in Franklin for the second time last night and were totally underwhelmed. It was difficult to get a reservation, yet 1/3 of the tables were empty, probably a staffing problem, but that wasn't the issue. To be fair, our waitress was very nice, very good at her job but that's about the only thing good I can say about this experience. To be honest, and I'm sure others will disagree, it's a very popular restaurant, this seemed nothing more than an upscale Bonanza. I had the trout almondine, there was zero presentation, it looked as if it moved down the line, they threw a lemon wedge on top, hit it with parsley in the middle and sprinkled it with about 15 almond slivers. The taste was good, but this is upscale, you expect more than a haphazard, threw together dish. My husband ordered the chopped steak wrapped in bacon with burgundy sauce, medium well. It came charred on top, raw in the middle, he returned it and it came back overcooked, dry, burnt on the outside with no bacon. His loaded baked potato was so sparse with toppings that he returned it for more toppings. Our toffee sticky pudding had crystallized caramel sauce, overcooked, but the cake part was excellent, it was just ruined with the gritty sauce. We didn't order steak and we're glad we didn't, because our bill was still $100+ for this subpar meal. And the bread, c'mon Sperry's, up your game and give your patrons good quality bread instead of these cheap loaves. I could have gotten better bread at Kroger bakery. Needless to say, it wasn't good the first time we went, this time was so much worse, we won't be back and it's sad. It's a lovely restaurant with an attentive staff, it's just the kitchen that's a disaster. You could see the line cooks just throwing stuff on plates, no evidence of a chef like you would expect in this quality of a restaurant. Perhaps there was one and I didn't see it but someone should have checked the plates before this food was ever sent out of the kitchen. We shared the scallops with hollandaise sauce over grits and the seared tuna tower, highly recommend both but if you have to pick one you won't be disappointed with the scallops. One of Nashville's best places to eat. The food is absolutely amazing. The juicy prime rib is over the top amazing, and the salad bar brings us back every time. We go here for all of our celebrations. Our latest celebration, My son in law and daughter had just arrived back in the states from serving in the military overseas and couldn't wait to enjoy an amazing meal at Sperry's. When the server found out that they has been serving overseas for our country, he stepped it up another level of service to spoil them with kindness, great service and a wonderful desert. We have a disabled family member who cannot dine in. We were told they were too busy to take our take-out order. We explained there is a serious disability, and they didn't care and refused to take our take-out order. This was disappointing for the family member who is in their 40's and needs accommodations that are difficult for restaurants, so she unselfishly chooses to get takeout instead. While this may seem like acceptable business practice, it is, in fact, not accommodating the disabled. She would not begin to inconvenience the restaurant with her unusual disability, so this is the only way for her to get restaurant food. Your restaurant needs to do better. Refusing service to the disabled doesn't look good! She wasn't asking for special circumstances. It was disappointing; luckily, other restaurants didn't respond the same way. We will be sure to share this with other patrons and friends. read more

I never do this. We went there last night to celebrate our 38th wedding anniversary. The hostess was awful and tried to seat us right by the bar which we couldn't even get to because of all the people standing around the bar drinking. We stated we didn't want to sit there and one of the guys drinking jokingly said I wouldn't want to sit there either! We asked for another table and they did move us to one, right by the front door. We expressed our dismay to the server, who to his credit tried to get us to stay, but we left. The lobster Mac and cheese is to die for, the steak was phenomenal, the mashed potatoes were glorious, the espresso brownie was delightful. We even ordered the bananas foster. Wow! What a wonderful experience! Came on a Saturday night with 5pm reservations and were seated promptly at 5pm. Our table was near the salad bar, close to the kitchen, seemed like a lovely location to be. Our server was FANTASTIC to start off with, then they started to get busy. We started off with appetizers, the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail for myself and Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes for my husband. He asked for the mustard to be on the side, it came on top of the crab cakes (this is why no 5 star review) and he ordered a glass of Riesling and I ordered sweet tea, no lemon (came with lemon on my glass). Next we ordered our entrees. I ordered the Ribeye, with salad bar and garlic mashed potatoes. My husband ordered the special, bone-in filet, with crispy onion straws, on a bed of garlic mashed potatoes. He doesn't eat salad, so he added the French onion soup. The salad bar is superb! All fresh ingredients to choose from, which I'd expect from a steakhouse of this nature. My husband said his soup was on point! Not salty like other restaurants French onion soups tend to be. Next came the steaks. My husband wished he didn't get the bone-in. Said the flavor was good, just a lot of wasted meat around the bone. My ribeye I had cooked medium rare, was a perfect cook, just seemed a little tough, but good nonetheless. And the potatoes were wonderful! They serve small loaves of hot bread and butter as well, and those are OH SO GOOD! My husband ordered another glass of Reisling, which seemed to take a little while to come to the table and my tea glass sat empty for quite awhile. We opted for no dessert this visit as we were stuffed. I hear the bananas foster is to die for and we saw the espresso brownie which almost made me change my mind, it looked heavenly!! With the price of meat these days I felt like it was a bargain! My ribeye was delicious and well worth the cost, the prime rib was cooked to perfection and flavorful, and the filet melted in your mouth. We all French onion soup which was great- very oniony and a nice cheese crust. A couple added lobster tails that tasted exactly as they should (not rubbery like some others). We finished it off with bananas foster, made table side and our server made an excellent suggestion to video the prep in slow motion, he was right- best suggestion ever!
