Recently just came back with my boyfriend to celebrate him finally being off call for work after 31 days. He said he wanted a steak and some wine and we got both! Ambiance was nice as always. Not too loud but was pretty busy. We had maybe a 5 minute wait once we checked in for our reservation. Our server was the sweetest on a Saturday evening and she was so knowledgeable about their different wine options. He asked her to pick a good red wine that was middle of the road and her option blew him away. It was very good. I got a red sangria and was pleased with it, I prefer mine to be sweeter though. Their bread was delicious as always, crab dip was very good! Wish I had more. Their Caesar was much larger than expected so we shared it but it was good. I opted for the filet medallions Oscar (not pictured) which was good and ordered them medium. Honestly they weren't cooked consistently at all but still very good. Some pretty rare and maybe one out of 4 were actually medium. The ones too undercooked I just took home and ate the next day with eggs. Wish it came with a little more asparagus though. Whipped potatoes are very good! Overall enjoyed my time here and after all: two glasses of wine, two sangrias, bone in ribeye, Caesar, au gratin potatoes, filet medallions Oscar, whipped potatoes and crab dip we had a bill of around $225. read more

This was our first time coming here for brunch, and it was a great experience overall. Our group ended up ordering a mix of items, some from the brunch menu and others from the regular menu, which gave us a good feel for the variety they offer. I went with the filet mignon, paired with a baked potato and a wedge salad. The steak was cooked perfectly and had great seasoning--definitely the highlight of my meal. The baked potato was massive and tasty, though it could have used a little more butter and sour cream to really take it over the top. Service was excellent throughout. The staff was very attentive, consistently refilling water glasses and checking in to see if anyone wanted another mimosa, which added to the relaxed brunch vibe. To celebrate turning 14.5, my Mom requested that my brother and I wine and dine her at Stoney River. Having never been, and always eager to celebrate my favorite Leap Year lady, we gladly obliged. While enjoying some adult beverages, my mother and I popped deviled eggs in our mouths while my brother sipped New England Lobster Bisque down his gullet. Nary a crumb or drop was left. Much like the appetizers, for our mains, it was a taste of the land and a taste of the sea. My brother delicately inhaled his salmon, while my mother and I carved away at our hulking pork chops, taking 90% home as we were at this point very full of deviled eggs. The atmosphere is reminiscent of steakhouses gone by. They haven't fallen victim to anything shtick-y, which I find refreshing. Dimly lit with booths a-plenty, it's the kind of restaurant you dreamt of going to as a child watching a lot of 2000s television. This was such a delicious meal! I came to celebrate the birthday and the staff was so friendly, offering us a free slice of cake as well as a birthday card that was signed by the staff. Now, the food was absolutely amazing, we started with their complimentary bread that tasted like a cross between bread and a donut, it was incredible. For our entree I went with the filet medallions and crab cake. The steak was cooked perfectly and the crab cake was so flavorful without being mushy. The whipped potatoes brought everything together when you mixed it in with the crab and steak! We also got the brussel sprouts and parmesan fries for the table. And without question the dinners were delivered to the correct guest. We were pleased with the entire dining experience. Those in our party thoughts the steaks were perfectly cooked to their liking. Stoney River has recently changed their menu and prices. Sadly, we don't plan on coming back. They got rid of many staples such as the trout, meatloaf and hamburger. The replacements are subpar. They even have a new recipe for mashed potatoes. They are now saturated with butter. Just look at how heavy they are in the pictures. read more

Food Let's talk about it!!! Everything we tasted was spot on! Started with the steak rolls and the free rolls, had the bone-in pork chop and double cut lamb chops. You can't go wrong with any of their choices, though. Wanted to try the Halibut but it was sold out . Next time, will have to get a side of the chimichurri because it was incredible on the steak rolls and with the lamb chops! Service Staying with the halibut. We were able to order it, but were informed moments later that it was not available. Could've been an issue but the manager Jane made it right! Apologized and turned around that part of the service. Other than that, seated immediately and our waiter was very attentive making sure the drinks stayed filled. Ambiance Absolutely amazing, cozy. Loved the fireplace. The lighting can be a bit dark so it can be tough to get those Yelp pictures but I tried my best lol. All in all, great restaurant in an easily accessible location with amazing food and Ambiance. 11.23.2025 Second visit this month. Same situation both times. We ordered an appetizer, I order a filet medium well with a loaded baked potato. When we were here two weeks ago, the steak came out medium. Blood all over the plate. It was taken back and cooked to the right temperature and all ended well. Yesterday, that was NOT the case! The steak arrived more medium rare. This steak was taken back and brought back out by the manager. I believe she said her name was Susan. Upon cutting into the steak, it was maybe medium at this point. I did ask the question, "how do I order a steak HERE to ensure I get what's requested" ? Her being the manager didn't have an answer. If I order well done, it comes out as shoe leather and apparently they can't do medium well here! She did offer to place the steak back on the grill after telling me that "it temped at 145 degrees!" What a poor response. My salad an appetizer were my dinner yesterday as I didn't trust that my meal could be corrected by such a nonchalant and poor response by a member of management. It will be a while before visiting another restaurant. It's hard to find a decent steak here in Nashville. Either it's burnt to a crisp or still moving! No in between. Wish I'd taken pictures. Every single piece of food we each tasted was seriously perfect delicious. We each ordered more than we needed so we did grab take-home boxes to carry the yummy stuff with us. The vibe in here is so wonderful and feels so relaxing and comfortable. My favorite thing even more than food at every place I go to is always the service though. The service here was seriously A+++. The host at the entry, the server, the manager, and everyone else in there were seriously perfect and made the whole time there so fun and enjoyable. I dined at Stoney River on March 9, 2024 at 7:30 pm for my birthday. I had a good experience and it was a good choice to celebrate my birthday. The food was great, but the service was less attentive than expected. Probably because we were seated in the corner next to the bathrooms. But it wasn't too bad because it was a lot less noisy than the middle of the restaurant. For appetizer, I had the lobster bisque. The bisque was creamy and flavorful. I was satisfied that it had a decent amount of lobster pieces in there. For the entree, I got the coffee-cured filet mignon with a side of garlic mash potatoes. It was cooked to a perfect medium temperature and was one of the best tasting filets I had. It did come out missing the chimichuri sauce, but it was rectified after several minutes of waiting for the server to come back and check on us. The food came out in decent time, which was impressive given how busy they were. If the service was more attentive, it would be deserving of 5 stars. I was able to come with family to Stoney River last week for a celebration. The restaurant was busy, but thankfully I had made a reservation and we were seated promptly! I was struck by the lighting of the restaurant, which was on the darker side. It certainly didn't bother us, but something to take into consideration. Our table, however, was quite large (circular table for 6) and it made it quite difficult to converse. To start, the friendly staff brought their house bread which was delicious. A sweeter bread that was a great way to start off the meal! We ordered two appetizers, the spinach artichoke dip and the steak rolls. The spinach artichoke dip was ok. I found the chips to be a little too salty. However, the steak rolls were amazing!! Makes my mouth water just thinking about them! For my entree, I was bold and ordered the coffee-cured filet mignon (medium rare). I also opted for fries with the steak. It was so unique, with a crispy outer layer. I was very impressed! The steak was cooked perfectly and it was clear that the cut of steak was high quality. Overall, solid restaurant with an interesting ambience. Food is on the pricier side without the more formal environment you might expect (which is not necessarily a bad thing!). Always a solid choice. They have very good steak, baked potatoes, and drinks. But the carrot cake... omg the carrot cake. I've been a professional carrot cake connoisseur for over 25 years now and have it for my birthday EVERY year. Theirs is hands down my absolute favorite. Their slice size is equivalent to about 3-5 slices and it's just so incredibly rich and delicious. I'm just going to start off by saying that this is the best steakhouse in Franklin. I've long held the opinion that it was Cork and Cow, and Cork and Cow is amazing, but Stoney River is better in basically every way. In today's world it seems like it's difficult to get a truly great experience anywhere, even beyond restaurants. By a truly great experience, I mean one that's flawless where you don't feel a single shred of uneasiness about anything once you leave the restaurant. It's a sign of the times. It seems like everywhere you go these days, there's always something that's a little bit disappointing. Even in a positive experience, 95 percent of that experience will be positive and there will be a 5 percent chunk that didn't feel right and you just shelf it because the overall experience was positive and you move on. To me, that's generally how even the positive experiences are in today's world for every business. My experience at Stoney River was the first time in a long time that I can honestly say that an experience was 100 percent positive. I left the restaurant with not one single feeling of negativity about anything. The food was amazing. That prime rib was so tender, I could have eaten it with my lips. The Philly cheesesteak eggrolls appetizer was one of the best appetizers that I can remember at any restaurant I've been to. The cocktails were good. The service was good. One thing that I really want to highlight about this restaurant is the value. The value at Stoney River is about the best of any restaurant I've ever been to in my life. Value doesn't mean something is cheap. It means you get as much or more than what you pay for. SO MANY RESTAURANTS these days fail in this category. Even the good restaurants will have good food and good service, but you'd leave with that feeling that, while it was good, you didn't get your money's worth, and that really dampens your opinion of a place when it's time to become a repeat customer. This concept is actually how I luckily ended up at Stoney River to begin with. We were first supposed to go to the best reviewed American restaurant in Thompson Station before deciding on Stoney River. I don't want to name the name of that restaurant because it's actually a good restaurant, but if you're from the area, you can probably figure it out from that description. It's a restaurant that I've been to in the past and while the food was great, once you order a couple of cocktails and a few very small appetizers, you're already in over a hundred dollars before you've even ordered mains and dessert. So instead of going there again, my girlfriend and I decided to try out a new spot, which happened to be Stoney River. The portions at Stoney River are epic. My girlfriend and I made a concession at the table that we weren't going to be able to eat everything, so we just decided to team up on one of our entrees and take the remaining entree and what was left of the appetizer home. The steaks come with a side included. I can't tell you how big of a difference this small detail makes in influencing whether a customer has the subconscious sentiment within them to come back one day as a repeat customer. This just further substantiates the point I made earlier that there was not a single part of this experience that would sit on my mind as even a small negative and make me hesitate in revisiting Stoney River, which is so rare for a business today. I actually can't wait to go back to Stoney River, which I will very soon. I left feeling flawlessly positive about the food, the service, and the value I got for my money. Been a long time (at least 12 years) since I've been to Stoney River...shame on me. Sat at the bar and Zack got me set up with something to drink while I looked over the menu. Tonight I was craving beef os opted for a wedge salad and a slab of prime rib with garlic mashed potatoes. Very important...don't say no to the offer of bread. These little morsels are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Liberally apply some of the honey butter and wow...little honey donut holes. The wedge salad is quite large, the iceberg lettuce crisp, and there was ample trimmings to last the whole wedge. The prime rib came out as requested and was very tender and flavorful. The Au jus was just right...it did not reflect too much Worcestershire flavor or saltiness and compliments both the prime rib and the garlic mashed potatoes. Stony River does not disappoint! Every time I have been here the staff & food exceed my expectations. I usually get the Tuna Stack ( on the Starters list) as an entree because it is is a hearty portion. The Tuna is always super fresh , melts in my mouth & explodes with flavor. The Crab Cake is another one of my favs! I seriously could eat these dishes every day. Admittedly, I am not a big steak person. However, my hubby had the filet salad & he raved about it from his first bite and ate the whole thing! Stony River service is top notch & always consistent.
