My 20th ramen restaurant review. This place is way out in Springfield Ohio from Dayton or Columbus. It's a pretty small place and they do not mainly serve ramen and have many side dishes. Unfortunately in a place like Springfield a restaurant that only served ramen probably would not survive. The vibes definitely felt like a small diner and it wasn't fancy or anything. However it was quite busy. We got an appetizer that included shrimp cream cheese rangoons. These were typical American Chinese style, but they were far too cheesey in my opinion. The main ramen was the tonkotsu ramen. It was decent - definitely better than anything in Dayton which doesn't have any acceptable ramen options. However, at $16 I felt like it was very pricy. The broth was good - but a little salty and overpowering - and I like salty broths generally. The toppings were OK, but definitely a step down from an established ramen restaurant in a big city. For some reason it somehow felt the toppings and egg were less seasoned in comparison to the ramen or that they didn't care as much about perfecting the topping flavors. They were very default and didn't seem super-super fresh, but simply good. But all in all this place was decent. The noodles were good - could have been springier but still good. I'd love the broth to be piping hot too next time. read more

I work practically in walking distance to this "hidden gem," and have been DYING to go check them out for MONTHS!! Nothing makes me happier than to see a up and coming, NON CHAIN, incredibly creative/"outside the box" restaurant arrive and do WELL, especially in the "culinary desert" here in the "Field of Springs!!" DON'T let the location of this wonderful spot scare you away; you're here for their AWESOME food, which is some of the best not only here, but in the whole region. Check their website for rotating specials, along with tempting standard features, including some unique twists on sushi rolls, appetizers, and some Asian fusion tacos. I ordered the octopus dumplings and the JFC chicken tacos, which were both ok, but they both were just warm up for the AMAZING, life-changing RAMEN!!! They've got a few tempting options, but I'm sold FOR LIFE on the Thai Curry Ramen. I'm a sucker for just about all things curry, and this most certainly did not disappoint. Spicy, but not crazy hot, wonderfully flavorful, and it comes with plenty of great add-ons. Are this the GREATEST ramen I've ever tried, no... But there's absolutely NOTHING even in the same universe here in Springfield, and that counts for PLENTY!!! Everything was wonderful - food, service and atmosphere. Appetizers were excellent and the ramen is unbelievably tasty.

We stopped in here for lunch as we were in the area and the ratings were intriguing. We started with shrimp Rangoon. Now, I've never had shrimp Rangoon before but when I get crab Rangoon I like to see and taste loads of crab. The shrimp was barely discernible with a bunch of cream cheese. In spite of that, it was good. The sauce that came with it was awesome! Slightly sweet slightly chili flavored and a bit of heat! Next I had the double crab roll. I used the leftover sauce from the Rangoon and it was wonderful! Gets a big recommend here! My SO had Thai Curry Ramen. It's a large bowl filled with things that will make your tummy happy. I stopped in with a friend upon their recommendation. It's a small trendy spot with some nice outdoor seating and some booths/seats indoors as well. I ordered tonkotsu ramen and a steamed bbq pork bao bun. This was the best ramen I've ever had, no contest. The broth was rich, complex, just bursting with umami. The soy brined egg, the pork, everything was perfect and the presentation was gorgeous as well! Our server was casual and personable, contributing to a relaxing dinner. We ordered the shrimp Rangoon first. It was delicious, smoky cream cheese filling, not fishy at all. $9.50 for four smaller sized rangoons is a little steep so I'd skip it next time. The tonkatsu ramen was amazing! Full of fresh corn, veggies, noodles and the broth was spot on. I added a little of their hot oil and perfecto! Two things I didn't care for...the pork belly was super fatty, as in so fatty there was barely one edible bite in the entire bowl. Secondly, the little mushrooms were very weird. Almost tasteless with a bad spongy texture that wasn't pleasing. The soy brined egg was ok but weird to me as well. Overall, a drive from Dayton was worth the one time four star experience! Oh, and the place is kind of a dump. Cute but dirty. Needs a good wipe down. read more

This place has been on my hitlist for a few months now, because a good bowl of ramen is hard to come by around this area. Tonight I ventured on my own to test out this bowl of noods. When GPS directed me to the restaurant at 8pm at night, it is easy to spot and definitely looks like a bar kind of spot. I can tell business is good tonite as I drove past. The inside, matches one's expectation. Since I cam alone, I waa offered a seat at the bar. The staff was very friendly and attentive. At no point did I feel forgotten, and infact was checked on often to make sure all was well. The menu for the evening is small, but small i mean there was maybe 6 to 7 items. That is ok! I appreciate a place that is focused. I went ahead and orded the Tonkotsu Ramen and the rangoon. (It is worth noting they advertised for freshly made sushi up till 2pm, so I was unable to sample that tonite). The rangoon was pretty alright, I am not a fan of rangoon in general. This one has a kick to it, and contains shrimp (noting seafood is something I do now that my husband is severely allergic to shellfish). I would recommended if one likes spicy and rangoons! The ramen arrived in a pretty presentation, and was served with chilli oil on the side to adjust to your liking. It smelt good, and the broth tasted like it had flavor (I have had ramen ehere the broth... tasted like murky water). The noodles were not THE best I ever had, but they were cooked appropriately (not till its super soft). I was disappointed at the amount of meat present for a 16 dollar bowl of ramen.... It is a cute hole in the wall restaurant. Very mellow & hidden away in the neighborhood. We walked in & were immediately greeted kindly, told to sit anywhere. Once we sat down we scanned the QR code for the menu & began browsing. The water came out in a Tito's bottle which we found pretty cool! After all this excitement, we were excited for our meal.... I wish I could say I was excited after I ate the rangoon's. I'm asian with a high spice tolerance but oh my GOODNESS- my stomach was BURNING from the combination of the buffalo in the rangoons & the sauce they give you. This made everything after horrible for me. My family ordered the Tonkasu Ramen as it was what we came for & not impressed. Not to mention it was missing ingredients. The pork belly was ALL FAT. The nori was old. I wish I could say we will give it another shot but nothing else on the tiny menu seems appealing. When brought up that ingredients were missing upon departure, our waitress was very kind, but the other girl not so much. If you're going to make faces, that's ok it's a natural human reflex, just wait until the customers leaves . I'm rating this a 3 out of kindness but I don't even think it lives up to that. read more

The wait staff were helpful and friendly, the wall decor/art was interesting and the food plentiful and delicious! We had Thai curry and each took home enough for another meal. If you happen to live in Dayton. The drive is worth it compared to the other ramen option in the Dayton area. The food is very good and serve tacos in addition to a bar. (although there are only two options for ramen) the ingredients are fresh and you could tell the people who work here care about the food and service. Ok, so my Yelp friend ,Tyler, told me about this spot. Seeing numerous great reviews I told him I was shocked I had never heard about it. Now, I have to say even as an older adult ( don't ask! ), I thought I would definitely be up for the challenge! It's a place off of the Main Streets in town but once I got there I realized I go past it pretty often and never paid any attention to it! I took my 13 granddaughter with me, and the inside was definitely a really nice "vibe", as she put it. Lots of craft beer selections, really nice art on the walls from local artists, which are for sale as well. The woman working was very kind and explained the artists get 100% of the proceeds of what they're selling. All the art displayed was pretty exceptional. She explained they got a wall of great art work so they both benefited. I thought that was really wonderful since most artists don't always have a place to display their work. Okay, food- I guess that's why you're reading this. I do not have a cultured palette! My thought was maybe my granddaughter and her dad would so I wasn't concerned about trying something new. My husband is like me, we are pretty simple eaters! We ordered the Thai curry ramen, Ribs a couple of JFC tacos and an order of shrimp Rangoon. I have never had the curry dish before. I'm 100% sure this is loved by people who enjoy this sort of thing. I love the ingredients ( except the soft boiled egg) but the mixture just wasn't my thing. My son liked it a lot so obviously it's probably me! The tacos, well, none of us are big mayo eaters and there was what seemed to be a lot. The chicken was excellent inside the taco. I def could've eaten that and been satisfied. I guess a happy meal would've made me happy but this wasn't that type of place! The ribs, now they were delicious! They had flavor and were cooked perfectly. Meaty and no fatty grizzle. The shrimp Rangoon was spicy. I liked it but no one likes the cream cheese so that wasn't even tried by the others. So, to sum up- very nice place for the craft beers and such, great for art, to buy and sell. Food, just have a pallet for it. I like sushi and I believe that have several options, so maybe next time! Wonderful food at this hidden gem! The Thai curry ramen was creamy and delicious, and the tonkotsu ramen was great as well. We had the pork belly bao which was also tasty - the bao had a nice chewy texture (but the bao took a long time - it came out halfway through the meal). What a gem! When it comes to ramen, my experience stopped at midnight snacks in my dorm room, impatiently waiting for the microwave to buzz as I heated up a noodle packet. Let me tell you...this ramen is leaps and bounds better than what I had during my college days! Talk about FLAVOR. The broth, noodles, meat and veggies all had a unique flavor that came together in a fantastic way! Portion is not an issue either, there was more than enough in my bowl to fill me up. Seating here is a bit limited, it's not a large place and the tables they do have are close together. If you aren't able to get a table then it will be carry-out or bar seating for you. Well worth the wait! We have wanted to get in this joint for several years but each time we tried they were packed. Today they were slow at the end of the lunch hour and our party of five got a seat and the amazing adventure began. The list if cocktails, on tap brew, and those in cans was impressive and we watched the cocktails prepared with care and precision. We didn't sample any today but they will be had next time we visit. My daughters and wife ordered various types of boba teas and they were all enjoyed. We started with several orders of their house made rangoon. They had a unique creamy interior and a very tangy, delicious dipping sauce - highly recommend. My wife and oldest daughter got the daily special of Catfish Báhn Mì. They were HUGE and an explosion of flavor in every bite - so good!! My youngest two daughters got the kid's noodle bowls. They were also massive despite being for kids and while devoid of all the extras the various adult ramen bowls have, the broth was extremely flavorful. Last but not least, I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen. Good grief, it was amazing beyond words and filled to the brim with a variety of deliciousness. A three night and day prepared bone marrow broth topped with local pork belly, soy brined soft boiled egg, narutomaki, beech mushrooms, nori, corn, bok choy, & scallion were combined to make the most amazing ramen I have ever experienced. We will be back and even if they are busy next time, we will wait!! read more
