A round white plate contains five star-shaped fried appetizers arranged around a small cup of dipping sauce. The appetizers are golden brown and crispy, placed on a bed of mixed leafy greens. The plate is set on a gray surface, and the lighting highlights the texture of the fried items.

For a spot tucked away in an unexpected neighborhood, this speakeasy ramen shop is a total find. It felt a bit odd finding it at first, but once inside, it's the perfect escape--especially on a cold Ohio winter day. I stopped by for lunch and it was pretty quiet, which made for a nice, relaxed meal. I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen with extra bamboo shoots, and I was really impressed. The broth wasn't overly salty like many other places; instead, it was well-balanced and flavorful. For appetizers, the Crab Rangoon and Takoyaki were both solid hits. If you're looking for a cozy, "secret" spot to warm up, this is a great choice!

Takoyaki - A white plate holds six takoyaki balls, each topped with mayonnaise and a dark sauce, garnished with chopped green onions. The plate is placed on a white table with shredded cabbage underneath. A person's hand is visible in the background, holding a small green plate. The setting appears to be a restaurant serving Japanese cuisine, specifically takoyaki.

Wow!! I want to give 10 stars! I didn't think I was a ramen person. Just being honest, I thought it was "just" soups. So dumb me has never tried it. Literally in Columbus there are many ramen places and I've never ventured out. Anyway thanks to the vast accolades from so many people who know, I just had to check it out. We started with the takoyaki which was delicious ginger octopus balls. Something totally new and phenomenal. As an entree we got Thai curry ramen. I loved every delicious slurpy bite!! The marinated soft boiled egg, the perfectly cooked shrimp, the tiny mushrooms and the hearty broth. My words can't describe what my mouth was experiencing. I think I love Ramen!

Thai curry ramen - A large bowl of Thai curry ramen contains shrimp, sliced vegetables, and broth, with visible green onions and other ingredients. The bowl is placed on a restaurant table with a side salad, a glass of drink, and napkins visible in the background. The setting appears to be a casual dining environment.

Yum! I didn't know what to expect but the ramen was flavorful and delicious. The vibes inside were cool too with some Christmas lights around the wall. Not a lot of parking outside of the street is full.

Spicy Cheese Ramen - A bowl of ramen contains fried chicken pieces, corn, seaweed, chopped green onions, and a soft-boiled egg. The ramen noodles are submerged in broth, with toppings arranged on top. The bowl is placed on a table with a glass of water, chopsticks, and a fork nearby. The setting appears to be a casual dining restaurant specializing in ramen dishes.

I met a friend here for lunch during the work day. We met up on a Monday, I was so glad they were open as it is typically an industry rest day. It is a small space, but welcoming and not too loud. It was pretty busy right before I got there, but my friend grabbed us some seats since I was running a few minutes behind. The menu is accessed on your smart phone, so make a selection before you come if you are in a hurry or just have crazy anxiety like me. I opted for the curry bowl made vegan. It was excellent and plenty enough for me to take leftovers home and enjoy again for the lunch the next day. I am excited to see they are opening a location in Troy- congrats Speakeasy!

Always wonderful Japanese inspired ramen. We did carryout, the order was ready on time and made correctly. I ordered the spicy cheese ramen it is amazing, they know how to create special flavors with traditional ramen style! I ordered the spicy oil on the side which is what they suggest to do so you can spice it up the way you want. Richelle got the Thai curry ramen with added shrimp, always amazing too, and not too spicy for her. Rangoon is spicy too, but we love them this way. House made Rangoon sauce is perfect sweat and spicy for dipping.

Highlight: Ribs ($17), Tonkotsu Ramen ($17) Crunchy and sweet with a savory outside glaze, the ribs were tender and soft. Tender, thick, and fatty pork belly with a hint of saltiness, accompanied by a creamy broth. Crunchy vegetables, also a bit salty. Soft noodles. The broth tasted saltier the more you ate. Hospitality: We chose to sit outside, so the service wasn't as attentive. Honorable Mention: The restaurant is tucked in the middle of a neighborhood. The shop is small, but has indoor and outdoor seating.

This place is special. It's a small place so I always get it to go. My number one recommendation is order what they are known for, Ramen. I didn't which led to some disappointment. First course was Takoyaki. Octopus & ginger dumplings drizzled with okonomiyaki sauce, kewpie mayo, bonito flakes, & scallions. The Octopus was chewy and flavorless. The dumplings were mushy. Bummer. Second course of Kimchi Rangoon. Crab Rangoon with a hint of kimchi. I'm thinking sweet, Kimchi Crab Rangoon! Nope. The Rangoon was placed on top of Kimchi making it soggy. Yuck. Okay, so I said this place was special. The Ramen is creative, delicious, and outstanding. That's why you go there. I had the Spicy Cheese Ramen. Creamy cheddar cheese mixed with our Tonkotsu broth and house made chili oil, served with fried chicken, tea brined egg, corn, scallions, bok choy, bamboo, nori, and mayu. I always get an extra tea brined egg and sub pork ribs as they are so good. Get the Spice on the side to meet your pallet. I go all in which makes you reverse blow to cool off! If you love Ramen give this place a chance.

I seek out ramen joints in all my travels. I love the esthetics of the place. It's a tiny restaurant tucked in the middle of a neighborhood, with both indoor and outdoor seating. The service was great and my Szechuan Ramen was tasty. The only downside is that they were out of many items. The recent award they won is driving business and they are still trying to figure it out. When back in town, I will visit again!

Chicken Katsu - The image shows a white plate containing several pieces of fried chicken with a crispy, golden-brown coating. The chicken pieces are arranged on a bed of leafy greens, which are partially visible beneath the chicken. The plate is placed on a gray surface, and a glass of water and a spoon are visible in the background, indicating a dining setting.

I visited Speakeasy for the first time with my sister recently. We were surprised at the location since it's kind of in a neighborhood location, but that's ok. We started with the Crab Rangoons & they were delicious, very hot and full of spicy crab flavor! Also very crispy! I also ordered the Szechuan Ramen with a side of crispy chicken, and added corn. My sister ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen. Both were delicious, mine was very spicy (which the waitress warned me about)! Overall it was good portions and good food! Took home leftovers & it was good warmed up too. Advice: don't be worried when driving up! The inside is very nice, but not a lot of seating if you're a big group.

Ok, this place is an investment in the happiness of your belly. Don't cheap out on the experience! Follow the advice of your fellow Yelpers. Rangoon - on point Bonito roll - fabulous Thai curry ramen - scrumptious Tonkatsu ramen - DEEP flavor Szechuan ramen - perfect heat And the boba is just plain fun. Craft beer is an added bonus. Atmosphere is unassuming and eclectic. Go, eat, savor... And take a to go container to continue the goodness the next day.

As much as I LOVE my hometown, "Field of Springs" Speakeasy Ramen (check it out!!) this new-ish location in Troy is OFF THE CHARTS good!! This was a very last minute decision to meet friends over in Troy, so I broke my STRICT rule and didn't check the EXTENSIVE menu ahead of time. They offer a few of the "best of" from Speakeasy Ramen, but TONS of different, DELICIOUS choices!! We shared a crab rangoon app and sushi arancini balls that were just AMAZING. One friend got the ramen flight (great idea for sampling, btw!!) and the other friend orders a philly cheese steak roll, and I got the hakodate ramen, which was WONDERFUL!! We didn't drink, but their cocktail list looks great as well!! I know I say it every time I "discover" a great new place, but I TRULY wanted one of EVERYTHING on their menu!! Beautiful decor, GREAT food, fair pricing and friendly service, I'm HOOKED!! What a PERFECT addition to downtown Troy's culinary "scene!!" Check 'em out!!

The ramen here is delicious. No fret if you don't care for ramen - there are many other options and something for anyone. The secret winner though are the cocktails. Very unique and delightfully balanced are perfect on their own but really paired with the delicious food menu.

For my birthday, I was happy to try this place out since this location was close to home. Columbus is slowly becoming the place for all things foodie and geeky and I love that for us! This place is located on the 1280 W 5th Street and Northwest Blvd. There is parking in the front, and the restaurant is small and cozy. The seating is for parties of 4 to 5 but arrangements can be made so talk to a server. The menu offered everything from drinks, small place to ramen and I wanted to try more. We got the salt and pepper shrimp, the Kyushu Karaage (Japanese fried chicken), Hot tea and Takoyaki for a group of 5. Everything was piping hot and delicious and lightly seasoned to bring out the flavors of the overall dish. The servers were sweet and extremely helpful for explaining what things were and me, being a ramen nerd, could sit back and relax. I got the Kyushu Black Garlic Tonkotsu. It was so GOOD!! I love the taste of black garlic and the umami in the dish was so pleasant. The noodles were chewy, and the pork slices were so tender. The Tendernism! IYKYK. 5 stars for a great birthday meal that did not break the bank. Well, my friend covered my bill. :)
