As much as I LOVE my hometown, "Field of Springs" Speakeasy Ramen (check it out!!) this new-ish location in Troy is OFF THE CHARTS good!! This was a very last minute decision to meet friends over in Troy, so I broke my STRICT rule and didn't check the EXTENSIVE menu ahead of time. They offer a few of the "best of" from Speakeasy Ramen, but TONS of different, DELICIOUS choices!! We shared a crab rangoon app and sushi arancini balls that were just AMAZING. One friend got the ramen flight (great idea for sampling, btw!!) and the other friend orders a philly cheese steak roll, and I got the hakodate ramen, which was WONDERFUL!! We didn't drink, but their cocktail list looks great as well!! I know I say it every time I "discover" a great new place, but I TRULY wanted one of EVERYTHING on their menu!! My SO met some friends here and asked me to join them for dinner. It was my first time here and what a pleasant surprise! It's much larger inside than the exterior suggests. And it's a very nice place! I had the special spicy tuna and cucumber salad. The spicy tuna was great, nice flavors and the right amount of heat. The cucumber salad was different and delicious. A+ here! My SO had the Thai coconut ramen. Also a delicious dish, this had curry spices, Thai basil, cilantro, lime, tofu, baby corn and noodles. A few heads up items: 1. They were out of 3 tap beers much to my dismay. 2. Service was somewhat slow (but to be fair the bartender also served all the tables). 3. Food was delicious and fresh. We loved it! 4. I ordered the hakata ramen and received no egg. The meat was basically just pork fat floating in my bowl. The broth was delicious but for what you're paying for- it's insane I had essentially no protein in my dish. Server was busy even though restaurant seemed totally empty, and our drinks took forever to get to us. Forever in search of ramen that's as good as what I enjoyed growing up in Hawaii...this place came closer than any others in the area. So far here, I've tried the crispy shoyu ramen and the bao, and some leftovers of the sweet chicken. The ramen was flavorful and the noodles were really good. The gyoza was the best thing about it, perfectly cooked and still crispy with a ton of flavor that was enhanced by the delicious broth. The fried chicken was also tasty but too soggy by the time I found the pieces of it. Would be better served as a topper or on the side to add a little at a time. With all the fried additions, I was concerned that this meal would be too heavy and sit in my stomach all evening, but that wasn't the case. The bao was disappointing. The bites of pork were too large, and seemed as if they were fried then refried just before serving. So they were hard and had that kind of translucent look that old fried meats have. And the buns were wet. They would have been really good if prepared correctly. The takeout sweet & spicy chicken w/ rice made for a very nice lunch when reheated. The decor is very nice. It gets pretty loud around dinner time. Lots of professionals there having drinks after work, etc. Service was efficient, despite them seeming to have a minimal number of servers. Servers were friendly and helpful, too. Haven't had to wait to be seated, but live nearby and strategize visits for the less busy times. Good service and food. We had to wait about 10 minutes for a table on a Saturday night, but that seemed reasonable. Drinks came out quickly and were tasty. One of the beers was flat, but they fixed that quickly. Our appetizers (salted edamame and chicken gyoza) we're good. Went this week with my girl friends. I would recommend Miso for a moms night out or date night place. Our service was fantastic, really friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. It was during Happy Hour so one of my gals ordered several "starters" as her meal. I got myself the Hakata ramen. The toppings were beautiful and plenty. There was also the perfect serving of ramen noodles. My only criticism would be that it was very salty. My other gal friend got the Thai Coconut ramen. It looks delicious and I will likely give that a try on a future visit. For dessert, they had three offerings; a green matcha cheesecake, matcha crème brûlée and some green tea and ube shortbread cookies with a savory soy whipped dip. Wonderful experience! The food, service, and ambiance were all great. Excellent selection of ramen (not your typical shoyu/miso!) and sake/cocktails/beer and ciders. We tried the beef gyoza, very tasty and big! I had the sapporo ramen, husband had the hakata. Both were good, I think I liked his a bit better. They also offer kids bowls of ramen which weren't listed on the menu. I also tried the Southside cocktail and the 21 Barrels Lychee cider. The cocktail was pretty solid, but the cider was fantastic! Not too sweet, not too dry, great lychee flavor. Husband also tried the juice box sake - very cute. Food quality is not what is used to be. Service is subpar. Don't waste your time making reservations here, the table will not be set and ready when you arrive. I first had ramen from here at a collaboration event at the Silver Slipper. Once I heard they had a restaurant up in Troy, I knew I had to try it. I like the green decor around the restaurant and the booths were soft. The tonkatsu ramen was delicious and by far one of the best ramen I've had in town. We had the karage chicken, and even though there was a good amount, it was bland. The sushi arancini had too much rice and not enough protein. The service was slow but our server was also the bartender so it was difficult to get their attention. Overall, the ramen is the best thing to have here! read more

Ambience is great. Service was meh. I wanted so much to love this place. I'm a huge fan of Speakeasy in Springfield. Tuna appetizer was the highlight. Pork bao buns were not crisp or flavorful. We got two types of ramen. Decent but not amazing. What was supposed to be pork belly in the Tokyo ramen was basically boiled bacon and fat. The other ramen had Korean fried chicken and was great. I want so much for this place to succeed and get better. Speakeasy in Springfield is a place i brag about to people around the world. I'm hopeful this place will get their shit together and be on that level. I will obviously give them another chance. Do better. read more

Salt is not the only seasoning available on the planet! Enough already! The chicken on my plate and in my husband's soup had a very odd color. It's not even a stretch when I say this is not only the best ramen I've ever eaten, it is the best soup I have ever had. The diversity of the menu is great. Several different bowls to choose from and other items besides ramen too. The Rangoon fries are the kind of loaded fries bar goers have been asking for since fries were invented. I placed an order at 4:00 pm and was told it would be 25 minutes. I get to the restaurant at 4:25 and I am told it will be another 25-30 minutes. The excuse was they were busy. Really! My wife and I wanted something different for supper tonight and were pleasantly surprised! We loved the edamame and this was a great starter. The house drinks are authentic and light on the palette. We ordered the Hakata Ramen and Cheese Ramen and both were delicious! Prices are excellent for the amount of food and we both took home leftovers. First time to try this restaurant. I had Sapporo for ramen, but I felt like the toppings were extremely less than listed on menu/pictures in other reviews. On top of that the noodles were not prepared well. I had 2 huge chunks part of noodles. Huge disappointment. The service was ok, but seems like short staff so I saw couple of customers turned around at front desk because no one greeted. I like the ambiance though. read more
