The Tokyo Hibachi

All I can say is that this place was totally an unexpected find in Springfield, OH! You do have to look past the exterior, but once inside this place is very welcoming and comfortable. Service was great, we were greeted and seated quickly, and there was little wait time when our appetizer and entrees arrived. We ordered the spicy salmon roll and yellowtail roll - both were great and fresh! We both ordered the Tokyo (shrimp and steak hibachi) and it was amazing. I've been to several Japanese steakhouses, but this one in Springfield so far has been the best (including those in Columbus and around Easton). This is a gem folks!

We stopped by Sake, which is my boyfriend's favorite sushi place in the world! I started with a hot sake and miso soup. Ironically the sake was scalding to the point where it hurt your hand to pour yourself a cup full and the miso was lukewarm. These temperature mishaps are the reason I docked a star. My boyfriend is obsessed with crab Rangoon and the one at Sake is his favorite. I'm not an expert on the dish, so you'll have to trust his word. The exterior was crisp and the dipping sauce was a slightly sweet soy sauce - all in all I enjoyed the dish. I had the spicy tuna roll. The tuna was fresh and the spice level was decent. Again, I'm not a sushi expert, but I enjoyed my rolls. Sake offered 30% off most of the menu so the price of the dinner ended up being quite reasonable. Service was very efficient and the restaurant was clean and inviting.

Guess who tried Sushi for the first time?!? And a "crazy rabbit" roll with spicy salmon, no less!!

Sake now is your best choice for sushi here in W. Springfield. Service, cleanliness, and attention to detail, something that sadly is now less than stellar a few doors down at its sadly limping "cousin," Sakura. We had a great dinner here Friday night, and didn't feel like we were interrupting the waiters/waitresses, nor coming at a "bad time," which was the case our last visit to the other Japanese steak house choice down the street. Not sure if they're run by the same owners or not, but if you're in the mood, and in the area (still not quite worth a special trip...) this is your best bet for Japanese on the "strip." Sushi or Hibachi, give it a try!!

Ordered sushi to-go during the week. Came home to find out that we didn't get one of the rolls we ordered and our shrimp in the shrimp tempura rolls weren't even deveined. We also didn't realize it until halfway through eating them! Extremely disgusted! Called and spoke to management who said she could do nothing but add a credit for the 3 rolls (missing, and 2 non-deveined shrimp tempura rolls) to use next time we come in. Definitely will not be going back.

Our table after they refused to make it in front of us.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. We had a party of 11, 2 toddlers who were not eating, and 4 hibachi meals. Since we did not have 6 hibachi meals (half the total of our party) they would not cook in front of us. Those of us who did not get hibachi still spent money, we just got sushi instead. Then two separate couples came in and sat at a different hibachi table and they cooked in front of them. Just doesn't make any sense when we easily spent double what a couple would spend, yet they refused to cook in front of us because half our party didn't order hibachi. Mind you, there are no signs that state that is the "rules".

Philadelphia roll California roll 2 of my favorites!

Love eating here. Typical hibachi experience or booth the food is always good. My wife and I often get the sushi though. We love the Yummy Yummy Roll here as well as several others. Heck even the tempura chicken is better than most other "chicken fingers" - plus there is Yum Yum sauce so it's a win-win.

The food is alright depending on what you order. Service is good not too shabby. It's a little pricey for what you get in my opinion.

Better than ramen I've had in San Francisco, Atlanta, Chicago or Dallas. The chili oil or sashuan oil is not as hot as I thought. Easy to eat, even if you can't tolerate much spice. Staff was super amazing. Shout out to the guy behind the bar. Rockin' beard and rockin' attitude. Easy 30-minute drive from Beaver Creek, Wright-Pat area, but so worth it.

I wasn't as surprised this time by the location in a neighborhood, something that gives it a very welcome feel and suggests with the addition of a covered outdoor porch with picnic tables that this is a good neighborhood hang. I was late for lunch, almost two but there were some folks still finishing up. Good vibe, good music and casual atmosphere. I opted for the Takoyaki app which was tasty and not so burning hot that it scorched the roof of your mouth. Also the right amount of mayonnaise as opposed to often an excess. The Ramen Flight was fun in principle but I wouldn't do it again. I unwisely and perhaps naively assumed there would be mini versions of the full serving of Tonkotsu broth with Mayo, Thai curry and Szechuan with scallions. But it really is just the broth and ramen. Expected the Szechuan to have some heat and peppery lip buzz but did not. The Thai curry was super salty. Just missed some option of veggies and protein. Finally I would suggest not sitting near the front near the stairs to the kitchen. The spot has competing music soundtracks with two different play lists battling between your two ears.

The rice in it is hardly seasoned and just didnt taste "wow". Their yakisoba is a weird medley of rice noodles in some brown sauce they call yakisoba (like they didnt even use the actual noodles!) I got the katsu kimchi jiggae... they put a perfectly fried katsu INTO the bottom of the jjigae..... like it was wet and sad. And for some reason my son had a full bowl of rice and mine was only half full?? The kimchi flavor was off... almost tomatoey? Needless to say.. my husband barely ate his yakisoba. I took 95% of my stew home. To top it off as we were checking out, they came and said they were having some troubles with conmecting tp their card people... if we could ..pay with...cash? And i had to send my husband out to an atm... and then it came back online. In all this they couldnt even give a small discount for this situation. I am sad to say I am likely not to return... this round of ownership change has brought the place down.

As much as I LOVE my hometown, "Field of Springs" Speakeasy Ramen (check it out!!) this new-ish location in Troy is OFF THE CHARTS good!! This was a very last minute decision to meet friends over in Troy, so I broke my STRICT rule and didn't check the EXTENSIVE menu ahead of time. They offer a few of the "best of" from Speakeasy Ramen, but TONS of different, DELICIOUS choices!! We shared a crab rangoon app and sushi arancini balls that were just AMAZING. One friend got the ramen flight (great idea for sampling, btw!!) and the other friend orders a philly cheese steak roll, and I got the hakodate ramen, which was WONDERFUL!! We didn't drink, but their cocktail list looks great as well!! I know I say it every time I "discover" a great new place, but I TRULY wanted one of EVERYTHING on their menu!! Beautiful decor, GREAT food, fair pricing and friendly service, I'm HOOKED!! What a PERFECT addition to downtown Troy's culinary "scene!!" Check 'em out!!

Recently open for lunch in addition to dinner - I cannot recommend more highly pairing your beverage and/or entree with the ahi tuna wonton nachos. Order it for yourself or to share. The ramen here is delicious. No fret if you don't care for ramen - there are many other options and something for anyone. The secret winner though are the cocktails. Very unique and delightfully balanced are perfect on their own but really paired with the delicious food menu.
