    Potato Salad

I liked the sub. Would of given 5 stars but the potato salad was elbow macaroni in some sauce.

It's 2017, and Sparky's continues to hold on. I for one am glad they have, and I do try to swing in to grab a few subs whenever I'm near. I love their bread. It's soft and sweet, and is a pleasured mess when fully laden with meats and fixin's. The young folks in there are always friendly, and very much care about their product. Sadly, this is the last one in our metro, and I can't help but think that some day I'll drive by and the building will be empty. Hang, hang on Sparky; Sparky hang on...

Great sandwich always got hosed by a nation chain coming in, but the fresh cuts of meats make the difference

Great sandwiches at good prices. I always get a Poor Boy for 5.99. The bread is soft and delicious. I am quickly becoming a regular.

It was around lunch time when we walked in so the ambience was pretty busy and almost all the tables were taken, but we found a spot in the corner. We stood in line to order and we're greeted with a smile when it was our turn. I ordered John's Veggie Bug and my friend ordered the special of the day, which was the Cuban. I made mine a combo and added the homemade roasted garlic salad and a drink. When our order arrived, my sandwich sure did look tasty and it was! As taken from the menu, John's Veggie Bug consisted of: avocado, cream cheese, pepper jack cheese, olives, cucumbers, sprouts, green onion, lettuce, tomato, pesto mayo and balsamic vinaigrette, on a grilled parmesan panini. This sandwich was super fresh, had great flavors, and I loved that it was on yummy grilled bread that was warm. All the ingredients were plentiful too. I liked how it came with pretzels, something different than chips and the pickle had a good snap to it. You could tell the roasted garlic potato salad was homemade and it wasn't overpowered with garlic. The flavors had a nice balance. My friend's Cuban looked meaty and says he liked it. It was so filling he only ate half and took home the rest for later. The Cuban is worth it's value. The dining area inside almost reminds me of an old school diner feel with lots of decor, art, and vintage type signs. I really enjoyed my sandwich and I'll definitely be back!

I told our waitress that I couldn't remember the last time my husband gave his lunch a 10/10. He even texted a buddy afterwards to tell him just how amazing his lunch was! My wrap was great: perfectly salted avocado, crunchy sprouts, close attention to detail. I could only eat half since the wrap was so large, so I took the other half home and it still tasted great later. We can't wait to go back!

Every contact I've had with Grain Shed employees has been more than pleasant; they truly seem to enjoy working there, and take good care of their customers. I need to shout out to Toby and Audrey before I go on. They each provided 110% on customer service, being personable and making sure we left happy. On 2 separate trips to Spokane, I've visited the Grain Shed 3 and 4 times over the course of 3 days (yes, if you do the math, I went twice in 1 day, and the restaurant was NOT just around the corner!) Everything I've tried is delish, but in case you have to limit yourself, I highly recommend the OG, the beets and feta toast, the bread flight with sauces and cheese, the molasses ginger cookie, and maybe a chocolate croissant. I've heard their bread pudding and pumpkin pie (holiday special) are out of this world! I tried to get over to listen to their live music before leaving town, but still need to squeeze that into my schedule. Travelers: save space in your luggage for a loaf of bread. Sadly, no shipping at this time, but I'm waiting for it! This SoCal resident is officially The Grain Shed's #1 fan. I dare any of you to try to take away my title!

The Grain Shed does a farm to table model and is a bakery and brewery. I got a snack here along with a beer and left quite satisfied. I got a Grilled Cheese Sandwich on some of their house made bread with some Cheddar, Swiss and Provolone cheese. The exact name for this sandwich is the Cheesy Toastie. And of course moving on to the beer... the primary motivator to come here. I got the Kölsch beer here called Field Trip. I do love a good Kölsch as they are nice, light bodied beers. And they are especially nice in the summertime. Flavor features in this beer is maltiness, breadiness, a bit of hoppiness and a dry finish. Another beer that Steve and I tried was the INWPA which was a Pale Ale. It was also a nice light bodied beer which again hit the spot despite it being a different drinking session. Flavor characteristics in this beer is citrus, a yeastiness, hoppiness and a biscuity trait. Good beers and sandwiches and we are aiming for a return whenever we are in Spokane again.

Before going back to Idaho from running errands in Spokane, we stopped in for lunch. I wanted to try something different this time and ordered the half-size of the Caruso's Signature Salad and as described by the menu, it consists of: Dried Cranberries, Candied Walnuts, Parmesan, Tomatoes, Onion, Salad Greens, House-Made Croutons, House Vinegar & Oil Blend, Blue Cheese Dressing. I opted for the house of vinegar and oil and really enjoyed their blend. The salad was a delight and the candied walnuts were so scrumptious! The half-size portion was really filling too. My roomie ordered the half-size Meatball sub. I love how they hollow out some sourdough then stuff the meatballs, sauce, and cheese inside and afterwards close off the sub by using the inside bread they hollowed out to plug up and close the sub. Genius idea! My roomie says his meatball sub was really good, super oven hot, and pretty saucy tasty. He's big on cheese and wished it had a little more cheese. Overall, he said he'd get it again. For my birthday dessert freebie, I went with the raspberry cheesecake. It was a pretty big slice and had some height to it, not like the normal standard size you commonly see and it had a decent amount of crust ratio. Ambiance was quiet as it was after the lunch rush and before the dinner crowd. The male worker helping us was super cool and chill and even wished me a belated birthday, which was nice. I think next time, I'll try their pizza.

Also wanted something sweet and had the carrot cake. Not overly filled with spice or a strong cream cheese flavor. While I would have preferred more of both it also was not overpowering and still enjoyable.

My goodness was all the food absolutely delicious. I can't recommend this place more. The pretzels there are so unique and delicious. Best pretzels ever. Finally the strawberry oat bar was simply the best tasting thing I've had in a while and it melted in your mouth. Soooooo amazing! The biggest issue right away was how long the food took. It felt like we were waiting forever, and by the time it finally came out, it definitely didn't feel worth it. We started with the pretzel, which honestly was nothing like a pretzel. It tasted more like glorified fried dough and didn't have that classic pretzel texture or flavor at all. For drinks, mine was way too strong and just didn't taste good. It wasn't balanced at all and ended up being hard to even enjoy. For my main, I ordered the Cascadia burger medium, but it came out clearly well done and overcooked. On top of that, the egg on it was severely undercooked.. some of the whites were still clear and slimy, which completely ruined it for me. I had also heard good things about the mac and cheese, so I gave it a try, but that was another disappointment. It was bland and runny, and even after adding salt and pepper, it still had no real flavor. My husband ordered the chicken sandwich, which wasn't terrible, but it was definitely on the dry side. They were also out of fries, so he had to get fruit instead, which was kind of disappointing. Overall, the food took way too long, the quality didn't match the price, and the experience just didn't live up to the hype at all. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.
