    DIY order/pay station

8.10.25: Finally had a chance to check out this place. It was a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't very busy when we walked in. Nice, big clean space and not cluttered. My friend is into Philly Cheesesteaks and I wanted to try the veggie rice bowl. So at the ordering counter, there's a bell to ring for help or to ask questions. With that said, it's a DIY kiosk tablet that was pretty simple and user friendly. My friend got a traditional Philly Ribeye Cheesesteak with extra cheese and an order of cheese fries. I got the veggie rice bowl with all the veggies offered except for jalapenos. I choose 2 sauce options: soy aioli and gochujang. I also got a side order of fries. My veggie bowl arrived hot and steamy and had a pretty good flavor profile considering I chose 2 sauces. Rice to veggies was proportionate and the portion itself was worth the value too. If there's any suggestion, it would be to use a different rice or add a little water to it throughout the day as it's on the warmer so it doesn't dry out as fast. I'm a bit weird and like my veggies slightly undercooked and will ask for that next time. Overall, I enjoyed the veggie rice bowl. Now, the fries were amazing! Great crisp, tender inside, and best of all it had this texture I only come across sometimes. I tried to take a pic to capture what I mean. But ikyk! My friend, at first glance of his Philly, wondered where all the cheese was since he ordered extra cheese. Well, it's safe to say it was nicely folded into the meat because after taking a few bites, he said it really liked it and that it was definitely cheesy. He got 2 different cheeses and said next time he will order extra peppers. He also made mention of the bread used and how he liked it and that the bread used could make or break the sandwich. In the end, he wished he ordered another sandwich to-go for later lol. The cheese fries were SUPER CHEESY so if you're into that, definitely order it. There was only 1 gentleman working, cooking, and cleaning. I want to guess he was the owner. He was really friendly and helpful and cooked us up a great lunch. On a sidenote, bathrooms need a code and the women's was really clean.

Philadelphia and Seoul connection (R&B music pun intended). We liked these guys. We've driven by their Northside location dozens of times over the years and never went, but was intrigued with their expansion to the Valley area that's right in our regular shopping corridor. And, no one has to talk me into enjoying Americano favorites that have a Korean lean. Technically this is a fast food style place, but the goods are cooked on the griddle in an open kitchen while you wait. When we went for an early lunch, there was one dude doing it all. He did great. We love good, quick, in/out joints when shopping, and this place is a solid option. Nice clean place, too...

The veggies are crisp and the grilled panini bread it's served on is so delicious. My roommate ordered the French Dip and he said my pic doesn't do justice compared to its awesome tastiness...he was so impressed and enamored with the quality of meat that he didn't really need the au ju--which is unheard for my roommate lol. On another note, they offer a ton of hot sauces and I tried, Melinda's Ghost Pepper, and it was so fiery good that I'm gonna find myself some. If you like heat, try it! Service was great and ambiance was calm since we came after the lunch rush. Definitely looking forward to our next Smacky's visit!

Every contact I've had with Grain Shed employees has been more than pleasant; they truly seem to enjoy working there, and take good care of their customers. I need to shout out to Toby and Audrey before I go on. They each provided 110% on customer service, being personable and making sure we left happy. On 2 separate trips to Spokane, I've visited the Grain Shed 3 and 4 times over the course of 3 days (yes, if you do the math, I went twice in 1 day, and the restaurant was NOT just around the corner!) Everything I've tried is delish, but in case you have to limit yourself, I highly recommend the OG, the beets and feta toast, the bread flight with sauces and cheese, the molasses ginger cookie, and maybe a chocolate croissant. I've heard their bread pudding and pumpkin pie (holiday special) are out of this world! I tried to get over to listen to their live music before leaving town, but still need to squeeze that into my schedule. Travelers: save space in your luggage for a loaf of bread. Sadly, no shipping at this time, but I'm waiting for it! This SoCal resident is officially The Grain Shed's #1 fan. I dare any of you to try to take away my title!

The Grain Shed does a farm to table model and is a bakery and brewery. I got a snack here along with a beer and left quite satisfied. I got a Grilled Cheese Sandwich on some of their house made bread with some Cheddar, Swiss and Provolone cheese. The exact name for this sandwich is the Cheesy Toastie. And of course moving on to the beer... the primary motivator to come here. I got the Kölsch beer here called Field Trip. I do love a good Kölsch as they are nice, light bodied beers. And they are especially nice in the summertime. Flavor features in this beer is maltiness, breadiness, a bit of hoppiness and a dry finish. Another beer that Steve and I tried was the INWPA which was a Pale Ale. It was also a nice light bodied beer which again hit the spot despite it being a different drinking session. Flavor characteristics in this beer is citrus, a yeastiness, hoppiness and a biscuity trait. Good beers and sandwiches and we are aiming for a return whenever we are in Spokane again.

However this time, I decided to try a different location and test their veggie sandwich consistency and freshness. When we walked in we were greeted and I was surprised how big the inside dining area was. It wasn't busy and actually empty the entire time we were there. Mother's Day could have affected this. Anyway, I proceeded to order the #6 veggie sandwich and my friend ordered the Turkey Tom and added salami, peppers, and oil & vinegar. My sandwich was really good and consistent with the veggie sandwich from the other store. Bread was soft and delicious as usual and all my veggies were fresh and crisp. There was adequate cheese and the avocado spread tied it all together nicely. My friend was pretty happy with his choice and said it was really good. The employees were nice and had good customer service. The store was brightly lit and noticeably clean. I would visit this store again. It's worthy to note this location has a drive-thru, but no outdoor seating.
