Tonight the girl sitting at the table rolled her eyes when we walked in and took her sweet time coming to seat is. The only thing that keeps us coming here is that it's closer to our home than Star Pizza.. Not once have we had a waitress that seems to be about the customers.. I was highly disappointed earlier today when I drove from over 30 min away to be told the restaurant was closed. They closed 22 minutes early because it was slow.. I didn't know closing times were an option maybe they shouldn't have those hours written down. read more

This place is not what it used to be. The cheese taste and looks plasticky. Family and I came on a Wednesday for the $10.99 large one topping pizza and we were highly disappointed. Our pepperoni pizza had about 2 pepperonis per slice. We have ordered the special before and I never had this problem. When I asked the waitress why the pizza had so little pepperonis she said it was because it was the special. The pasta we ordered did not have the garnishes it said it did on the menu. Went here to celebrate my wife's 50th. It's what she wanted. We haven't been to Spanky's in several years and didn't realize it was a new building. We were seated promptly and courteously. The manager and staff were very kind and attentive. We ordered several different pizzas and I had the meatball sandwich. I was very impressed with everything. The pizzas had great flavor and a fantastic crunchy throughout crust with good amount of sauce. My meatball sandwich had great flavor with lots of cheese and sauce. But, the bun was too soft. I suggest a better and harder hoagie roll and cut the meatballs in half instead of putting them on there whole. There was a Texans game playing on all the flat screens and the sound piped through all the restaurant speakers were overwhelmingly loud. There was hair in my daughter's food. It was black hair and our hair is light colored. She didn't want to eat after that and went to the car leaving her drink full on the table. They offered to exchange her meal since she had only taken a couple bites. I politely explained she didn't want to eat after that. They didn't offer to take it off the check, we had to ask. Then they bring the bill still charging for everything else including her drink. I said, her drink is full is that the best you can do? They removed the drink. I was not happy with the way they handled the situation at all. I even wrote on the ticket I would be leaving a review about it and not returning and they didn't care. Truly disgusting and the manager was very rude. I didn't want to make a scene so I let it go but it was ridiculous. I used to go there before the remodel and used to like this place a lot. I will never recommend it or go back there. Would give 0 stars if I could. Maybe the health department should know about it as well. Because they didn't seem to think hair in the food was a big deal at all. Gross. read more

Good and consistent food and service! This place is always packed during the lunch rush and its obvious why. The food is typical American Italian but they do it well, no frills, but that's OK its what Spanky's is. The staff is always busy, but always friendly, they keep up up with their tables, never leaving the customer wondering where they went or looking for a refill. Again, nothing fancy about it, but if you want just solid American Italian food, this is the place. Their old location (next door) had a better atmosphere, but the new location is nice and has plenty of charm. You will never leave hungry but you will leave with a to-go box. read more

I was a patron of this restaurant for 15+ years and loved it very much for many years. Now I'm saddened by what has happened to this once great (in my opinion) establishment. The decline didnt happen overnight. It was a progression from the time when the original building burnt to now. But something drastically changed in the way the restaurant was run in 2018/2019. New managers in the building and all the sudden we are trying to drink Margaritas through paper straws. Not to mention the pizza went downhill and was served with a lot of greasy, watery like fluid in the bottom of the raised dimple serving pans. I literally would use my napkin to soak it up before I tried to eat it. The other menu items suffered as well. Chicken Alfredo cooked badly with a rubbery "chicken" and paled in comparison to what it once was. I feel sorry for that once nice wait staff who now seem to be frustrated and short tempered. I can understand why. I finally had to give up my once favorite pizza place in town and won't be back. So depressing. Wish the originator hadn't turned over the day to day to the other family members. The business has never been the same since. read more

I have been to Spanky's for dinner a few time over the past 10 years and I can honestly say it just keeps getting worse. This visit I had recently to the new location is by far the worst experience I have ever had at spankys and one of the worst experiences I have ever had eating in a restaurant in general. One would think that because it's a new location, the owner would want it to be the best it's ever been. I'm guessing that the owner or owners just don't care. Spankys was out of a few toppings for their pizza, they were completely out of wine, they were out of different varieties of liquor and the liquor that they did have was of the cheaper verities. The beer that they served wasn't very cold and it was skunked. The service was lackluster, we were a party of four and constantly had to ask the waitress to refill drinks or bring napkins. Just all around a very bad experience and anytime anybody ever asked my opinion on spankys I will advise them not to go. read more

For the last 2 months my sisters and I have made Wednesday our sister day during happy hour. I can not complain about their $3.00 margaritas HOWEVER, I can complain about the horrible customer service we've recieved the last few times we've been there. The waiters have been distant and blatantly ignores us until we reach out to someone else to get their attention. The managers as well have displayed poor customer service as well. On one instance they tried to "over charge" us AFTER all bills were paid IN FULL ON SEPARATE tickets, to present a ticket that clearly didnt belong to us. Their also skimpy on the pepperonis on the happy hour pizza. We ordered 24 wings this last time and about 13 of them were still raw. Regardless of how you choose to look at it YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS IN THIS FACILITY SUCK AND COULD USE SOME REFRESHING. The customer is always right. Take in mind that I eat lunch here 5 days a week, but it is a healthy lunch. I have been eating two plain grilled chicken breasts with seasoning fir the past several weeks. Last week I was informed the owner no longer wants me to pay the agreed upon price, but to increase it. Keep in mind he did not sit down to discuss this with me; however a server said that was the agreed upon deal and he needed to honor it. Since that day whether by coincidence or not my lunch has been extremely tough chicken that you need more than a butter knife to cut. So today I order a different entree and paid $3 more for something I did not want, but I also didn't want my grilled chicken to be tough. I shared today that I will have to locate another place to dine at for lunch as ultimately $11 is too much for a tea and sandwich. read more

If I could give less than 1 star I would. I went in to spankys a couple times before at the beginning of the year and I loved it. They had the sweetest bartender Brittany who you could tell was experienced and knew what she was doing. I normally do not like female bartenders but I was pleasantly surprised by the customer service I received and the speed and skill I witnessed. So of course I come back since I am back in town on business and was so pleased with my visits last time I was in town. Not only do I find a completely different bar staff that seems to have no clue what is going on or how to make a proper drink but also see roaches behind the bar. I cut my trip to spankys short and will probably not be coming back. I am baffled by the fact that they got rid of the only person who seemed to know what they were doing behind the bar and did not train the replacements very well at all. Plus roaches???? Come on! This is a food establishment. There is no way they are not aware of the problem because I saw multiple critters in the time I was there. Such a shame I will have to try and find a different establishment for my extended stay visits to Houston. read more

This place sucks. I ordered cheese pizza and it was burnt. Was there ever any cheese on it? No sauce either. Just a dried piece of bread with burnt cheese. This wasn't a one time incident either. My husband likes the lasagna and every time the pizza is gross. How do you mess up pizza? Also there's one very rude obnoxious staff member there, not sure if she works there still but garlic is not a topping you moron. It is used to give the sauce flavor. I love their thick crust pizza. I have always had good table service. I have a LARGE service dog and they have always been accommodating to my needs and my dog's needs. I cannot thank the owners and wait staff enough for their willingness to understand that I need my dog with me for assistance. I don't always get this good reception in other Houston business' when I walk in with a German Shepherd. (He is very well behaved and has his service vest on.) The wait staff is very attentive to its customers and to drink refills and checking the food. Their hot wings are just fabulous. I recommend getting the sauce on the side until you can gauge your "heat" level for yourself. They are fresh and done in house. The service is fast considering it is a deep dish style pizza. My husband loves the thin crust too. Lunch specials are reasonably priced. read more

If you want a great place to eat that's consistent in quality and service....THIS IS YOUR PLACE! We love to come at lunch! Our first time we came, we had Leti as a server...she rocks! Great service, good attitude and we have requested her every time we've been back. While I stick to the lunch pizza which includes three toppings, my fiancé has gotten the pizza and the burger and says it's delicious. Today I had mushroom, black olive and pepperoni. Ask for your pizza crispy so it comes out with that extra crunch. It's so loaded with toppings and cheese! Perfect every time. My fiancé had three meats on his and it was delicious as well. For an appetizer we had the jalapeños and onions....THEY ARE GREAT! Fresh, flavorful, great crunch! I highly recommend Spanky's any day of the week! They also have plenty of tvs and are very accommodating about changing them when multiple games are on! Ask for Leti! You won't be disappointed! read more

Went to try spanky's last weekend with my mom... When we arrived it took awhile to get a server (we went around afternoon lunch)... We ordered salads before our pizzas; they were brought out & I ordered the house salad. For some reason there were no croutons on the house salad so when I asked the waitress if she could bring me some she said there may be an "extra charge"..... For some croutons????? On a $3.99 side salad? Ummmm... Ok. We also ordered a large 2 topping pizza. Upon waiting for around about 45 minutes we had to ASK our waitress where our pizza was? Though she knew we had been without food seeing several other tables getting food before us being seated AFTER us... She apologized for the wait and said the kitchen "lost" our order and that it would just be 15 more minutes for them to make it and that the manager was aware of the situation.... We assumed the manager would discount our meal or take of the salads or SOMETHING or come out and apologize or something but.... Nothing. Our meal was still $30 . Disappointed in overall customer service but the pizza was good yet over priced. read more

I've never had an awful experience at spankys till today. The shrimp Alfredo I had was very yellow and had an awful after taste. My girlfriend had chicken Alfredo which had very over cooked fettuccine. The bread that comes with the Alfredo was very stale. We also order hot wings which were NOT spicy but mysteriously sweet which was disappointing. The waiter didn't offer to ask why we didn't eat or offer us some type of refund.
