    Crab and avocado tower

Such a fantastic spot. We had the crab and avocado tower, tuna sandwich and a sauv blanc from NZ. Food was exceptional. Portions were generous (mostly crab/tuna, minimal filler and no mayo - what a concept) and very reasonably priced - $28 for the crab tower. Would definitely recommend. Lovely grounds and atmosphere. The service is slow to order, but timely once ordered.

If you love seafood this is it! Look no further!

Food was delicious but the service could have been better. But Janelle came to the rescue and was super sweet and met our needs! The crab tartar was amazing!!!! Definitely a must try after such a relaxing massage. FYI if you want a deep tissue massage I highly recommend Brian.

Relaxing and beautiful. You are seated right next to the courtyard of the spa. The service was great. The food was better than I expected. The mango quinoa lettuce cups were healthy and beyond fabulous! Tip make sure to have a Bellini.

Grilled chicken lettuce wraps (amazing) with raspberry thyme bellini and classic peach bellini in background

Beautiful setting, delicious food, reasonable prices for a spa cafe. The courtyard is beautifully landscaped and peaceful, with an herb garden where they grow herbs for the dishes. You can either take your lunch at tables in the courtyard right in front of the cafe, or by the pool (we opted for the latter since it was a gorgeous day) We shared the grilled chicken lettuce wrap, and it was amazing -- plenty of chicken breast, cooked perfectly, with carrots, cucumber, radish sprouts, on a big chunk of tender Bibb lettuce w/ the most amazing dressing/dipping sauce -- peanut, cilantro and ginger. I would love to get the recipe or try to replicate it. It came w/ 2 big wraps -- enough for my husband and I to share -- for just $15. They also have an assortment of bellinis -- we tried the classic w/ peach puree, the raspberry thyme (my favorite) and blood orange -- and they were all great, just $9 (as opposed to the $15 cocktails at the main splash pool). Noticed afterward that you can actually get an entire bottle of champage for $18 ($49 for Vueve Clicuot). You need to be a guest of the spa (have booked a massage or other service, or purchase a spa day pass) to eat at the Cafe, but if you're there, be sure to check it out.

The staff is always friendly and personable, and the restaurant is usually clean and well-kept, which I really appreciate! My favorite order right now is the "Not So Fried" Chicken Sandwich. Between the toasted ciabatta, Mendo's Krispies, Mustard Pickle Slaw, and herb aioli, it's a divine mix of flavors. A side of the mustard remoulade totally elevates the dipping game! I'm also currently obsessed with their Spicy Curried Couscous! I do wish the "large" size of the Spicy Curried Couscous was a bit bigger since it feels more like a medium to me, but everything else is on point. Overall, Mendocino Farms has great food, awesome service, and is a place I always enjoy coming back to. Looking forward to my next visit!

The tomato slices are hearty. (One time the tomato slice was 1inch thick!) Thick slices of sourdough. That habanero honey sauce really takes the BLT up a notch on flavor. Very satisfying. I usually order order online for post workout dinner at home. Rarely is my order ready by the stated time on the receipt. I think most orders are placed online since the counter is always stacked with takeout bags. Dining room isn't busy (in the late afternoon/early evening.) If you are reading this review then you're likely new to Mendo. Good food takes time. You can taste the quality of the ingredients. Seasonal items are always worth a try. And there were clumps of some sort of grilled tomato in one spot but not throughout, so I was eating the clump of tomato and it was pretty disgusting by itself. I commented to a server and he shrugged it off. Then today I ordered beef with brussel sprouts and mushrooms. The mushrooms were not uniformly sized with some large and uncut and others thinly sliced, changing the flavor and the parmesian cheese it was supposed to have been cooked with tasted like they were fine bread crumbs, not cheese; they were cold. The brussel sprouts were hardly cooked and half were hot and half cold. The onions with it were just a piece of the end of an onion. The meat was very tough and dry. I live in the area and have been going there for years. I'm so disappointed in the quality of the food lately, yet the prices have risen.

This time, I tired the Baja wrap and it was really lacking flavor and was overwhelmed with guacamole. We ordered my son the kids grilled cheese, which was decent for him. We added a side of avocado for him and to my disappointment again, it was mashed avocado in a bowl instead of freshly sliced as I was envisioning. I will give it one more chance when I am able to eat the cold deli meat and see if those sandwiches are better for me.

This time around, it's just the family for Mother's Day. Since I know my food, the table let me order. Fresh hand cut thick long French Fries without a ton of seasoning or oil arrived: one with a cashew cheese truffle sauce, one with no salt, and one salted as requested. My daughter loved her reuben. I loved my blt. The two Caesar salads for the table disappeared quickly because their dressing is unbelievable! Let's see .... what didn't we eat is probably smarter than what did we eat. Beet ketchup, The C Word (braised cabbage), a couple of cronic sushi rolls, and there was a special lemon creme brûlée. Everyone enjoyed everything they ate, including my almost 3 year old grandson (they brought out a specially sliced fruit bowl for him). They offered many choices for kids, but he just wanted fruit. Hope you had as wonderful a Mother's Day as I did. Yes. We appreciated eating healthy and not walking away stuffed but instead satisfied. They were selling plants. So I bought 4 and planted them today! The gift that keeps on giving! We will be back for sure! With garlic, gusto & gratitude, Chef Marian
