The burger here was disappointing and average at best, suffering from a few technical errors and the topping choices being generic and uninspired. The patty itself was dense possibly due to being over handled or buying in pre formed patties, on top of that it was under seasoned. The bun was inadequate and untoasted, which when combined with the poor choice of placing the LTO on top of the patty, led to a sad soggy bottom bun which couldn't stand up to the burger and warm wilted lettuce. The burger sauce was unremarkable and the cheese unnoticeable. The one thing I did appreciate though was the 'grilled onions' were properly caramelized. In the end, while these issues can be corrected I didn't really see any concept or identity here. It's just another burger bar. read more

Really reasonable prices, especially for the Avon/Vail area which tends to lean fancy and expensive. Being a fan of Northside Kitchen in Avon, we thought we would try its "sister" restaurant, Southside Benderz. It proudly advertises its daily Happy Hour and the "best burgers on I-70." As it was still Happy Hour we thought it would be a great time to check it out. The atmosphere is nice, a bar along the north wall and tables in the rest of the place. It took a while for someone to take our order and when taken, beer came out quickly, but the soft drink ordered was forgotten. We ordered a basket of truffle fries and burgers. 40 minutes later, the food arrived, along with the apology for the forgotten soda. While waiting and hoping to at least get the soda, the waitress was up at the bar drinking shots with the bartender. The fries were cold, greasy and limp, the burgers also cold and tasteless. When done, we had to ask the hostess for our check because our waitress was nowhere to be seen. The hostess provided an apology ("the waitress was very busy making milkshakes") and our beverages were credited back. Though you can't beat $2 pint drafts and a pretty good beer selection, the food and service were awful. Maybe they were just having a really bad day or maybe they hope you will forget the food and service after enough cheap beers. read more

The bun and condiments were good, a little more, ok a lot more, 2000 island sauce would have been great. The shoestring parmesan fries were really good. We are regulars here because the burgers are to die for. They're always juicy, most times requiring multiple napkins for cleanup. A single burger is usually more than enough to suffice even the largest of appetites. The Cajun waffle fries are phenomenal and are a usually go-to. We've been here a few times, and keep going back. The food is good and service is okay. But every single time we've gone, there's something funky going on. Whether the frozen drink machines aren't working, they're out of frozen drinks, ice cream machine not working, orders getting messed up, portions messed up, etc. The service can be slow, but I think ultimately, a lot of their problems are stemming from those handheld devices the servers have to use and management/lack of structure. Service was super friendly, and food was tasty, but lacked that little "extra" that would have me craving it to come out of my way. I had the BBQ Ahi sandwich, but chose to forgo the BBQ sauce. Ahi sounded amazing, but not with BBQ sauce... The tuna was seared nicely, but the coleslaw it was served on was very generic and clearly pre-made. The burgers ordered at the table were enjoyed. Delicious! The chocolate shake was thick and very flavorful, just like a shake should be. They cooked the burger exactly how I asked for it and it was incredible. They have HUGE burgers, so even with higher price points you're getting your money's worth. The burgers are super juicy and well seasoned.
