What struck me with many other quotes was the obstinacy of many businesses insisting on digging trenches, which was utterly insane given the topography of our plot which was very, very steep! The only possibility was to consider well-placed drip lines over the slopes and directly into the potted sections of the patio and deck. We already had a funky drip line system installed by the previous owner that was hideous, impractical and ugly. Enter Sound Irrigation:) Mike was kind, attentive and listened. He was the only one to make a considerate plan that suited our property and garden needs. His plan was clear, logical and wonderful. Aly is a very competent and kind office manager, so communication and scheduling is a breeze. I love the Rachio wi-fi smart control system. From my iPad or phone it is so easy to adjust the watering system to a number of sections depending on the weather changes. We had to disconnect two areas for a few seasons due to renovations. When Mike returned recently for a start-up, he took note of the change and made a point to improve that section's installation. Justin and Aldo were able to come out within a few hours and re-hook up that area as they had the required equipment on hand. We are so happy to support this local business. Kindness goes a long way. We have dealt with the same hard workers over the years who are content and reliable. And they are just sweet people to work with. Now that's a sign!

He spent a lot of time making sure everything was working, even digging through the dirt to show my where the water was coming out of the drip system. Vans Landscape to the rescue! Summarizing for those that…read moredon't like to read a lot - My experience with Van and his team were great! Van was clear in communication - we accomplished a lot via text messaging; they were fast in execution and implementation and amazing in clean up. I can easily, and heartily, recommend and refer Vans Landscape (vanslandscape.org)! About my tag line - I'm not exaggerating when I lead with 'to the rescue', let me provide some details for context ... I'd previously hired a different landscaping service to do some fairly major change, cleanup and renovation work for my small space. In the end, that other landscaper's description of the work, including rendered images of what the finished product was to look like - did NOT match the result. Enter the home owner's association ... where they reminded me that what they approved and what they saw - wasn't the same. Yeah - it was so bad that multiple neighbors and the HOA 'expressed concern'. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed, discouraged, disappointed. I'd just moved into my space a couple of months ago, all the hope and optimism that comes from moving into a new space, being a new home owner and looking to fit into the community. Yikes! How much would a correction cost me? Could I trust another landscaping service? How long would it take? How much would I be fined by the HOA? I took a couple of days to organize my thoughts, and began the search for another landscaping service and came across Vans Landscape. Van scheduled a time to visit my space. He patiently listened to my situation while we walked my small property. He kindly and respectfully offered some alternative suggestions. I had been so distracted by my disappointment and frustration with the situation, that Van's suggestions 'cut through' - they are much better looking and functioning solutions. Thank you, Van - I am grateful! In the end, I'm proud of how things now look. My small rock front yard has a clean, low and gradual, retaining wall that goes up the street, an extended retaining wall along a shared property line and some new arborvitae for privacy in my back patio - resolving concerns and issues for the front and giving me some privacy on my back patio! My neighbors have remarked that 'It (the retaining wall) is beautiful', 'Looks so much better', and 'Should we add them to the list for the HOA?' (Yes!) It may sound silly, but I did feel 'rescued' - someone helped me when I genuinely needed it; resolving my real issues, improving curb appeal, and resolving my neighbors and HOA concerns. My future plans include Van's ... When I'm done, and with HOA approval, I'll be asking Van to give me an estimate on my ideas. Again, my experience with Van and his team were great. I easily recommend and refer Vans Landscape (vanslandscape.org)** for your next project or for landscape maintenance as their attention and commitment to detail was made clear. **Yeah - I listed the site as there's a few Van's Landscape sites out there; I want you to have the one I used.

Their quote was fair and competitive -- ultimately I decided to move forward with someone who came directly recommended by a friend, but Van's pricing was absolutely in line with the market and within about $100 of my lowest quote out of five different providers I interviewed. The scope included a full spring cleanup of a heavily overgrown yard, including mowing, pruning, weeding, pressure washing, bark installation, and repairing a distressed gravel pathway. Their pricing was very much on par with the other companies I met - for that large service, as well as ongoing bi-weekly yard care. They were on time, responsive via text when confirming the verbal quote and providing additional pricing details, and overall very kind, transparent, and fair throughout the process. Even though I went a different direction for this particular project, I would absolutely feel comfortable recommending them in the future. The experience was easy, professional, and very competitively priced.

When we started, we knew we needed something done but were not able to articulate the "what." With very little input from my wife and I, Tyler completely designed and laid out our project with incredible detail. He says he doesn't bill himself as a landscape architect, but he really should - the work is amazing. Turns out, it wasn't a small job. It included tearing out existing plants and grass, building two retaining walls in the front, putting some gravel in along our driveway, backfilling soil, mulching and planting both the back and front of our property, and installing 3 zone irrigation (including trenching the side of our house). Tyler is one of the few contractors I have met to date in Seattle that embodies the phrase "I say what I do and I do what I say." From our very first email, Tyler has been responsive, a clear communicator, upfront on pricing, and set clear expectations about delivery. And when it came to execution, he not only did what he said he would do but went above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction. His crew is professional, respectful, and the best at what they do in their various areas of expertise. Our project has only been wrapped up for a few days, but we've received compliments from tons of folks - including real estate agents in the area who have been floored at the design and overall curb appeal it has added. Becker Landscaping has only been around for a couple years now, but I'd be surprised if they didn't become one of the most well-respected names in Landscaping in the area very soon (and booked out accordingly!). I can't recommend Tyler and the Becker Landscaping team enough! I forgot to take before pictures of our property - and this after picture barely does it justice. I'll update the review if I can find better!

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint and share my highly frustrating experience with Northern…read moreWaters, Inc. regarding recent services on my mainline irrigation system. The issues began last December when a fencing company's negligence caused a leak and a winterization failure. The Northern Waters team initially came out to identify and resolve that specific issue. However, when we turned the water back on earlier in July, the system experienced unusually low pressure. This led to a cascading series of costly and ineffective service calls: Visit 1: A technician came out, simply confirmed the low-pressure issue, and we were charged $180 for him walking around and letting us know that indeed the system was not working. Visit 2: The technician returned later that week. He stated that sand must have been pushed into the lines during their previous winterization repair, causing a blockage. Despite this being a direct result of their prior work, we were charged an additional $480. We were assured the system was fully repaired. Unfortunately, the system was far from fixed. While it was scheduled to run every other day at 5:00 AM, we began noticing significant water pooling in certain areas. Worse, one of our larger rhododendrons is now dying due to a complete lack of watering. We ran an out-of-cycle test ourselves and discovered several outlets were still completely nonfunctional. Visit 3: The company sent out the exact same technician. I had to personally walk the property with him to point out 6 to 7 distinct nonfunctional areas that absolutely should have been addressed during the prior visits. During this walk-through, the technician identified even further issues, resulting in a staggering $880 charge for this third visit alone. I am incredibly disappointed with the service and the absolute lack of accountability. I was repeatedly charged for follow-up visits to fix issues that were either caused by their own repairs or completely missed by their technician. Combined with the property damage to our landscaping, the fact that it took three separate, expensive visits just to get the sprinkler system functioning properly is entirely unacceptable. Be aware of this company and proceed with caution before hiring them.
