Van was clear in communication - we accomplished a lot via text messaging; they were fast in execution and implementation and amazing in clean up. I can easily, and heartily, recommend and refer Vans Landscape (vanslandscape.org)! About my tag line - I'm not exaggerating when I lead with 'to the rescue', let me provide some details for context ... I'd previously hired a different landscaping service to do some fairly major change, cleanup and renovation work for my small space. In the end, that other landscaper's description of the work, including rendered images of what the finished product was to look like - did NOT match the result. Enter the home owner's association ... where they reminded me that what they approved and what they saw - wasn't the same. Yeah - it was so bad that multiple neighbors and the HOA 'expressed concern'. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed, discouraged, disappointed. I'd just moved into my space a couple of months ago, all the hope and optimism that comes from moving into a new space, being a new home owner and looking to fit into the community. Yikes! How much would a correction cost me? Could I trust another landscaping service? How long would it take? How much would I be fined by the HOA? I took a couple of days to organize my thoughts, and began the search for another landscaping service and came across Vans Landscape. Van scheduled a time to visit my space. He patiently listened to my situation while we walked my small property. He kindly and respectfully offered some alternative suggestions. I had been so distracted by my disappointment and frustration with the situation, that Van's suggestions 'cut through' - they are much better looking and functioning solutions. Thank you, Van - I am grateful! In the end, I'm proud of how things now look. My small rock front yard has a clean, low and gradual, retaining wall that goes up the street, an extended retaining wall along a shared property line and some new arborvitae for privacy in my back patio - resolving concerns and issues for the front and giving me some privacy on my back patio! My neighbors have remarked that 'It (the retaining wall) is beautiful', 'Looks so much better', and 'Should we add them to the list for the HOA?' (Yes!) It may sound silly, but I did feel 'rescued' - someone helped me when I genuinely needed it; resolving my real issues, improving curb appeal, and resolving my neighbors and HOA concerns. I had a very positive experience with Van's Landscape while getting bids for my mom's property cleanup project. Their quote was fair and competitive -- ultimately I decided to move forward with someone who came directly recommended by a friend, but Van's pricing was absolutely in line with the market and within about $100 of my lowest quote out of five different providers I interviewed. The scope included a full spring cleanup of a heavily overgrown yard, including mowing, pruning, weeding, pressure washing, bark installation, and repairing a distressed gravel pathway. Their pricing was very much on par with the other companies I met - for that large service, as well as ongoing bi-weekly yard care. They were on time, responsive via text when confirming the verbal quote and providing additional pricing details, and overall very kind, transparent, and fair throughout the process. Bill and his team helped me with several projects in my yard. 1. Clean the roof. They used brush, not pressure washing, which protected any damage on the shingles. It definitely took more labor to get rid of all the moss, but it turns out beautifully. Their price is half of the other company. I couldn't believe I had such a great deal! 2. Install sod. They removed the existing grass, till the land deeply, put down new topsoil, and then laid the sod. We have a lot of curves and Bill tailored the sod to my satisfaction. 3. Tree trimming. My camellias were well trimmed that I can see the top half of the ball shape from my windows. Nice! 4. Demo and haul away old green house. It was heavy duty double-layer plastic green house with metal frame. No screws in most of the connections but rivets. They cut it to pieces and hauled everything away cleanly. The foundation was not damaged at all, which gives me the opportunity to plan for something else. They have a big team which completed all the above jobs in 3 days. We have had Van and his crew do so much to our property, and we couldn't be happier with the service his team has provided over the past two years. I cannot compare Van's finished work to that of other landscapers, but I can tell from my experience of getting quotes and estimates for my property and other properties, that Van delivers what I believe to be the best value for someone like me. While other companies provided estimates that seemingly tried to extract every dollar out of our wallets, Van came in with sensible solutions that wouldn't break the bank. While some companies pushed us towards high-end materials like marble or slate, which are notoriously difficult to maintain, Van was able to recommend materials that were easier to maintain and a lower cost to acquire, saving my family effort and money. He is also very flexible with scheduling and performing the actual work. My wife wanted to make some last minute additions to the work while he and his crew were getting started, and they were able to accommodate these changes no problem. During their efforts, he and his team were also able to make some smart and nuanced recommendations of things we could tweak to make our backyard look amazing. He was never pushy when we thought a recommendation wasn't right for us, and we were always grateful to hear his expert opinions on the matter. He and his team were able to listen to my and my wife's concerns about making specific portions of our property look and perform in specific ways. It never felt like we weren't heard, and the end result matched our expectations. What a disaster! They visited the site, took pictures, and gave me a quote. The day of work came and the folks who showed up were way under-prepared. It was a big brush cleanup and they brought a small truck. Bill, the person who did the quote, called and said Van's had subcontracted the work and they were refusing to do it. No offer to fix it, no rescheduling. We had a contract for the work and they refused to honor it. Avoid! Edit after Bill's comment: Bill is lying. The yard was EXACTLY the same before and after we agreed on a contract price (not an estimate; he was very clear). They came, took pictures, walked around, and nothing was different on the day of the work. The entire yard was cleared/pruned so there wasn't any more brush we could have possibly added.
