This review is especially for Mathew, whose attention to detail and quality bar when it comes to maintaining the yard is second to none. We hired him and his colleague because he did such a fantastic job on our neighbor's yard and even helped tidy up the small strip of our yard next to our neighbor with the massive pine cones, so that's when we knew we had to officially hire this company and have him come do our yard bi-weekly! Do not hire them! Expensive and rude. Twice they cut down my flowers. The first time they claimed that they thought they were weeds. The second time they cut down my replanted specialty sunflowers, that I put plant markers by to ensure they knew that they were supposed to be there! They claimed that a rabbit chewed them. Yard Butlers has been a trying experience. Manager (owner?) Bill has been somewhat responsive to my needs and requests, but we have not been 100% on the same page. We started with a big, all-day clean-up that was big money. That was incredible, and showed how well his two-man team could tackle a job. Unfortunately I had also asked for a two-man crew to follow up every two weeks, estimating an hour each visit. The first visit was just one guy who didn't really speak much English and whipped through some blowing and raking in about 30 minutes. Too little in my mind for $150 a visit. I also stated that beyond landscape cleanup I was after grass fertilizing and weed killing. That was mentioned to the crew on the next three visits but was never addressed. "I have to talk to Bill" or "Bill hasn't said anything about it" was the general responses I got. I'm tired of pulling dandelions and fighting back clover, but my yard has never looked nicer. Now, I got Bill to waive the 3% fee he charges on credit card payments in exchange for the bi-weekly service, but after this fall's epic drought I was finding difficulty in what things I needed the crew to do. Sometimes I'd get one guy, sometimes two. Yet, besides mowing, nothing was done with the grass. I asked Bill to go to every three weeks service. He balked at that which put me off. He was also charging my card without sending (emailing) me an invoice, but did when I requested one. Now, the month of October had just one visit, when he billed for two. I caught him on it, which he immediately corrected. I'm really okay with it, provided it was an honest mistake and not something underhanded. But I would appreciate a more communicative presence on his part. I'd be pleased to know ahead of time who is coming and approximately when. Bill seems amenable to working with me so if we can get more on the same page with billing and scheduling I will definitely keep using Yard Butlers' services. I have been using Yard Butlers for 3 years now. They have done major cleanups for me, pruned roses and trees, removed bamboo, built a raise bed for growing veggies and done regular maintenance - mowing and edging the lawn. I have been using Bill for over 10 years. His communication skills are lets say non-existence, but they got the job done-for the most part. However, through the years a little dog poop in the yard has been a problem for him, which when we agreed to do the job was not. So, the crew came and did not do my back yard. I notified Bill of this and he went on the offensive, stating dog poop and no workie. I said communication is critical when I am paying. I said I will pay 1/2, which is actually more than it should be because the front yard is tiny. He said see ya and cut me as a customer, just like that. So I cannot recommend him as his yard skills may be ok but his admin and customer skills are way lacking. Stay away.... read more

I just had to fire these guys after several years of service. They used to be great, but now they do more harm every time they are in our yard than good. They butchered our front bushes and decorative grasses, they repeatedly haul away ground cover even when told repeatedly not to. Yet they don't trim the hedge or do other weeding we actually request. These guys can cut grass just fine, but don't let them anywhere near the rest of your property if you value any of the growing things in it! From my wife: "These people just destroyed two years worth of expensive new landscaping. They chopped down tall, beautiful decorative grasses that were just filling in. I am heartbroken. These idiots will make your neighbors hate you. They use loud, gas powered blowers instead of rakes. They start early in the morning and the noise is deafening. Do not use The Yard Busters! We need a better noise ordinance in Lake Forest Park because these are inconsiderate jerks. read more

Bill was quick to respond to a voicemail left requesting information. He came by and after a walk through of my yard gave me a very thorough explanation of what was needed along with a quote. I agreed and set my appointment. His crew was here on time and immediately got to work. The second day they also arrived on time and one of the guys walked the yard with me again. I explained a few things I wanted trimmed more. Bill also stopped by on the second day to make sure everything was going as expected. When they were done on the second day there was no recognizing my yard it was absolutely beautiful. When Bill came to pick up my check we talked about a few more things to be done in the future. We've used Yard Butlers twice and the second time has been a disaster. 6 months ago we hired them to level and reseed uneven parts of the lawn. Not only is grass still not growing in the parts they "fixed" but the grass that is growing is thick and coarse and not suitable for any lawn. Despite repeated attempts via email to correct the problem no one has ever come out to even look at it. He promised he would on at least 3 occasions and never did. We agree with other postings on this site that Bill is very rude. He has suggested in emails that the shoddy work is our fault for not having a bigger budget. Asked for basic clean up for a tiny yard at a rental. Asked for pictures of work as we are remote. No pics and after having cleaners take them the place looled terrible. Weeds at the entry for renters to see, leaves all over and driveway gutter clogged with leaves. Gate left unlocked hence house unsecured! and a rake left again the garage door in the midst of leaves. I will never work with this company again! They over charged us and only did a third of the work they promised us. We were told they would mow, weed and trim, and neither of the times they came was any trimming or weeding done. We canceled their services yet they have still shown up to mow our lawn three more times and are trying to charge us, even though these last 3 visits were not asked for. The first visit was great. After that, I'm not quite sure what they accomplished... not very much? The things we discussed on the first visit still hadn't been addressed a couple months later. They came for a free visit after I complained about some work that desperately needed to be done, but still didn't do the requested work. But the reason that I canceled their service is that after I told them the first day that I have dogs and they must be sure the fence gates are closed, they left the gates open. The first time, I found the open gate before the dogs and sent them an email reminder. The second time, the dogs found the open gate first. read more
