Seattle Eastside Pavers installed pavers in our backyard in September 2023. We paid extra to have…read moresealant put in between to pavers to make sure that we don't have weeds growing there. This was primarily the reason why we paid to have the pavers done. 1 year in and there are weeds already growing in between the tiles. There are visible gaps in between the tiles where the sealant should have been applied. It looks like the sealant work was not done well (check pictures). There are a couple of loose tiles as well, near the entrance of the backyard, which just points to shoddy work. Communication has also been pretty poor. I don't hear back about any questions or messages that I send until I email back again asking for an update. Here's my recent email chain about this issue. ================= Walter Angel Alfaro Wed, Sep 18, 12:26PM I'LL TRY TO STOP BY ONE OF THESE DAYS Jeffrey Johnson Wed, Sep 18, 12:28PM to Walter Thanks. Jeffrey Johnson Sep 28, 2024, 11:42AM to Walter Are you going to be able to make it this week? Walter Angel Alfaro Sep 28, 2024, 11:44AM to me yes I will be there today after 4pm Jeffrey Johnson Oct 15, 2024, 10:32AM to Walter what did the provider say about the weeds growing inside the sealant? when can you come fix the gaps in the sealant and the lose tile near the entrance? Walter Angel Alfaro Oct 15, 2024, 10:50AM to me I already spoke with them and I'm waiting for a response ================== This issue is still unresolved as of today Oct 31 and I have not received any update since the last email pasted above on Oct 15. Update 1: The rant about Nature is a bit puzzling. The yard was swept once a week as recommended, so pointing to that as the issue is a cop out for the poor quality work done on the sealant. Did nature create gaps in the tiles where the sealant should be? Is nature the reason for the poor communication? As a business you select what providers and materials you will work with. Its not the responsibility of the customer to get in contact with the suppliers you are using for doing the work you are paid for.

We used Rios to construct our patio many years ago. They did a good job then and came back to sand…read moreand seal a few years later. We called them last year to repeat the sand and seal. They didn't arrive when they said they would and I had to make multiple calls to reschedule. It was very difficult to get them to call back. Even when they finally did they didn't arrive on the day they said they would and rescheduled but didn't show again. They finally did show and about an hour into the job I went outside to find one of their workers urinating on the side of our fence. They did not sand properly (we paid the total for the job) and we've tried to get them to come back out to complete the job. Frank came out and said he'd schedule the repair but he never did and now no one returns our calls. They also said they sealed it but we have moss growing in the surface of our pavers. Avoid this company. You will end up being disappointed.

Upfront: Coordinating with Rios was easy. Freddie was super responsive / really friendly and was able to come by the site with 2 days to assess the project. I was expecting a response / estimate back within 1-2 days but it took more like week. I was not in a hurry with the project so this delay didn't matter too much. Paver Patio: The crew worked very efficiently. They were able to remove grass / soil the first day and bring in new soil, sand, pavers the following day. In total - it took the team 3 days (not full days - they had to stop work on one of the days because it started to rain so hard) to complete the project. Other Notes: Once the paver patio was complete - the last piece of the project was to fill a certain area with river rocks. When I called to ask when the rocks will be put in I was told "this afternoon" and the next time "tomorrow". This was probably my only negative experience of working with Rios. I was not in a hurry so I didn't mind if the rocks were put in the same day, next day or a few days later. As a customer - I didn't appreciate not having the actions align with what I was told. Again - overall, i am happy with the project. The patio looks good.

I am very, very happy with the new patio Jose and team installed. They are an excellent company to…read morework with for the following reasons: QUALITY - paver layout is beautiful, & they installed extra gravel & drainage pipes to address my "swamp" COMMUNICATION - I always knew exactly what was happening, when the workers/trucks would be here. Before work began, Jose responded promptly to my requests for changes in design, gave detailed drawings &estimates PRICE - it was a very fair price, and lower than the other bid I got for a simple rectangular design DESIGN - my requirements were a bigger patio that covers up the swamp. Jose came up with a plan that has curves to fit in well with the curves in my existing landscape, plus the swamp is gone! He gave me advice on which sizes of pavers would work well in the design. PROFESSIONALISM - every day the team was on time and left the area cleaned up. They laid and re-laid pavers until they were satisfied with the look. They spent a lot of time leveling and fixing places where water pooled on my lawn/old patio. They improved the downspout drains and crawlspace vents. Call them for your project, you'll be glad you did!

After 2 years living in our Issaquah rambler, we were tired of our grubby back yard. With a very…read moresloping hillside slumping into it, the constant roll of rocks, and puddling of runoff made the space not very enjoyable. Our small deck, and a big dirt patch was also not a clean or functional space for us or our dog - so it was time for a change. Once we set our minds to investing in a renovation, I met with 7 (yes 7!) concrete, rockery, and paver providers to discuss the projected heat their ideas, and solicit quotes. A number of the providers were visionless, one was rude, and another was wildly expensive (twice as much as any of the others). Enter Jose and J Zamora Construction. While my initial vision for the space was admittedly to have a concrete patio, with a paver retaining wall - after meeting with Jose, my mind changed. In the most genuine and non-pressuring tone possible, he educated me about the benefits of using pavers (repairability, less cracking risk, better drainage, etc). That, combined with both his understanding of the challenges of my property, as well as his unique lense on a design for our space - made Jose a stand out. I also greatly appreciated that when I expressed specific wishes, he did not take offense when those ideas didn't align with his initial recommendation. When some providers acted put-off when I said "I don't want to take out this tree" (etc.), Jose took it in stride and offered solutions rather than trying to convince me that my preference was unreasonable. After viewing our property, he was prompt, kind, and fair in his quote to us. His documentation was thorough and clear. That, along with his truly aesthetically, and functionally minded vision for our space convinced me to completely pivot from "I'm doing concrete", to "let's go with pavers". After hiring Jose, he recommended products that suited our combined vision for my yard, was transparent about potential overages, and ultimately executed a project that is beyond my dreams for our difficult space. His crew of 6 busted their behinds for 4 solid days to crack it out. They were prompt, respectful of my property and neighbors; and thorough in their daily, and end of project cleanup. They even went above and beyond to carefully re-lay our dog's invisible fence line, which was displaced in the underground drainage portion of our project. Ultimately, we're left with the addition of nearly 1000 square feet to our livable space. An area that started as a grubby dirt patch has become a clean and stunning use of space. It flows with the natural landscape, and looks cohesive with our very mid century home. We have had neighbors (known to us and new introductions) stop by with their jaws on the floor - one even saying "you've made this yard the showpiece of the mountain". Once we paint the house - our sweet little rambler will be perfection - and we have Jose to thank for so much of our exterior transformation. Other over the top service notes: -Rock disposal recycling run -Bark delivery after project completion -Spreading bark over worn front yard after completion
