Beware of the design charges & lack of professionalism! I started a discussion with Bruce Sarvis regarding our back & front yard landscaping in November, hoping that our new yard would be planted by December / January to take advantage of Spring growth spurt. In my initial discussions, I enquired of the availability of the crew and was assured of the same in December or January. Knowing that, we went ahead with setting up meetings. I was told to book time on his calendar, which was all booked up, so I reached out to him to see if he had time, to which he said he only had time in January- 01/20. I again enquired if that would delay our installation to which he assured me it would not...my mistake of not seeing the red flag. I was given appointment for 01/20/25, when I checked to reconfirm the appointment, I was told it was a mistake and they don't work on that day, and so it was rescheduled. Finally, we met on 01/26, with a design board and us giving feedback on it. Obviously, by this time we were past having installation in January, but I was assured again it would be definitely done in February. Our next meeting with design and cost estimates was scheduled for 02/10. I had told him we would be traveling for the week starting 02/12, and so it was a hard deadline. On 02/10, I got a message that he was unwell and he needs to reschedule. That's where I chose to give up on them and scrambled to find another landscaper to handle my project. One would imagine that would be the end of unprofessional behavior, but then there office starts hounding me for design fee for a project which was handled in the most unprofessional manner. Please beware of such people and organizations, who keep customers secondary in their business. And DO NOT make the mistake that I did... Green spaces landscaping did an excellent job start to finish on my landscaping project. I needed to replace an aging gravel walkway on one side of the house with something more aesthetically pleasing and functional. I also had poor drainage in my backyard lawn which was generally in bad shape. My other 10-ft side yard was a glorious waste of space. The plants in the front yard were also a bit long in the tooth. Ryan came up with a great design beyond keeping with my basic functional requirements. The process was well structured with clarity all along the way. I couldn't pick all recommendations in keeping with a budget but everything that was picked was done very well. I am honored to write a rave review for Green Spaces Landscaping. We did a major project with them and we are absolutely thrilled with the result and the process. We have a steep set of stairs to the front of our beautiful home. Our detached garage is on an alley behind our home and there is a long walkway to the back door, which had three stairs, a walkway and a few more stairs. My husband is facing an upcoming need for handicapped access but he didn't want a temporary plywood handicapped ramp. He wanted a designed hardscape/landscaped solution that we could enjoy for many years. We solicited three proposals. All three offered interesting and responsive solutions that could be accomplished within our suggested budget. The cost of their proposals were suprisingly similar, which made us feel that the pricing was fair and competitive. However, the interaction with Ryan Sarvis, of Green Spaces Landscaping really differentiated them, as did their rave reviews. There were three elements to our journey. The Vision and Design, the Budget, and the quality of the Execution of the plan. As mentioned above we were confident the pricing was fair and competitive. Also we are thrilled with the result, which tells you the Execution was terrific. Their team is professional, expert, perfectionist, neat, careful, innovative, and a delight to work with. We found a few surprises as they dug things up, and they came up with innovative solutions at a modest cost and no impact on the schedule. Our project was on budget, on schedule and we always had clear and easy access to the house despite everything being dug up. It was terrific. The Vision and Design process was exceptional. Ryan heard what I asked for, and presented a proposal that was a lovely solution within the budget range I requested, But he asked if I was open to discussing other ideas besides simply taking out the stairs and creating a hardscape incline walkway with some plants. He noted that my back courtyard had a 75 year old cracked concrete surface and that the plants and shrubbery surrounding it, while healthy, had long ago become too large to be proportional to the space. I had only focused on the handicapped access. He focused on the overall aesthetic and suggested integrating the back courtyard into the project, with updated pavers throughout, shrubbery and plants that were proportional to the space and new lighting throughout. He prepared sketches. It was fabulous. We are fortunate that we were able to increase our budget to include this new scope and the result is nothing short of spectacular. We feel joy every single time we come from the garage into the house or use the back yard. There was no upselling pressure, but there was design expertise that was just irresistible and we are so happy that he made suggestions. read more

Green Spaces designed and installed a large, totally gorgeous water feature in our yard including a large pond and waterfalls. We could not be happier with it and it was absolutely worth the time and money! Ryan was with us all the way during months of design changes and what-ifs from me, and was always patient and responsive to my nonstop emails. Between Covid, the popularity of Green Spaces, and the size and scope of our project, we did wait months to get started after choosing them. That was communicated clearly up front to us, so we knew what we were getting into. There were a few schedule changes along the way and a few frustrating moments, but we are so glad we chose them to do this work for us. It was always clear that they were totally committed to making us happy and creating a stunning water feature. Everyone we had contact with was great. Our project took a month to complete so we saw Galdino and Juan Carlos every day and they would show us what they had done, what was coming next, and ask for our feedback all along the way. I've read through the 3 reviews listed from 7/2017 to 8/2017 and did not have any of the experiences mentioned! I had a cement paver patio and new fence put in and couldn't be happier with the quality, timeliness and detail put into my whole project. The daily working staff showed up everyday on time (which rarely happens with contractors), work hard throughout the day, and kept the job site CLEAN. All of my plants were discussed prior to be transplanted and all new plants agreed upon prior to be planted. Perhaps there was a lack of effort on previous customers to be involved in their project? Ryan was always responsive to my email or texts when needed. The whole team delivered! read more

I reached to to Green Spaces Landscaping (GSL) http://www.greenspacesls.com and engaged with Nancy. We set up an appointment, which I was expecting to pay several thousand dollars to for the work I needed performed. I rearranged my schedule, took off work to meet with her at our arranged day/time. Needless to say, as our appointment rolled around, I hadn't heard from GSL. I reached out to them 15 minutes after the appointment time had elapsed. There was no answer, so I left a message as to their whereabouts in regard to my location. Now they are 30 minutes late and I still hadn't heard from them. Now I'm going to be late picking up my daughter. I called my daughter to informed her of my tardiness and told her to try and wait in a public place where there would people. Finally, I left in route to my pickup my daughter. 3 hours later, I received call from Nancy stating she screwed up and didn't make our appointment. duhhhh!!! I asked if she wanted to come over now, she declined. Then I asked for a discount when she does come over to help remedy my hardships GSL has caused me. She declined, but said she can come over on Saturday. I declined as she has already made a mess of my time. What's the take away from this review? When a company treats you like $^%&^ in the beginning, don't give them the opportunity to treat you like that after you give them money... The landscape project in our house is coming to the finish line and we are very pleased with the work of Green Spaces Landscaping (GSL). It started last year when I got in touch with Spencer Buisson from GSL to redesign the side and backyard of my house. Spencer iterated multiple designs with me very patiently that meticulously covered all areas that I wanted to improve, including the road side steps, patio and drainage, side gates, patio roofing, house side door steps and railings, a pathway to a new sitting area, and planting and irrigation. The construction started about a month ago under the supervision of Jose Barron. Kudos to his crew, Heiner, Bernabe and Daniel, who did a great job executing the plan, from building a new patio with flagstones to planting new shrubs, all done with very high quality, despite being interrupted for a few days by the record high snow in Feb this year! We can't wait for the weather to warm up to enjoy some barbecue in the new yard! read more

This contractor is the worst we have ever worked with! We have encountered problem after problem with the firm. Some problems are bigger than others; however, the sum total paints a dark picture of the expertise, quality of service and business ethics of the firm. The multiple problems with Greenspaces Landscaping include: * the crews removed vegetation from the yard that was not supposed to be removed, including vegetation in a neighbor's yard; * The crew took ferns from the community owned greenbelt to use in my yard; * The principal of the firm even suggested to me that I just take ferns from the greenbelt; * The crew used the greenbelt as a bathroom, even though there was a porta potty; * The crew trimmed community owned greenbelt trees without permission so they would have an easier path to walk; * The crew did not amend the soil as the contract specified; * The firm did not provide boulders as specified in the contract; * The crew planted trees without removing the burlap from the root balls; the trees subsequently died; * The crew gave tours of my yard to people passing by without my permission and when challenged about it, said they thought it was OK because "...you weren't home..."; * The principal of the firm assured me that the lighting the firm would provide would be equal to or brighter than what already was in place. That is most certainly not the case; * The crew damaged my outdoor dining table; * The crew did not set up the irrigation system as I had clearly communicated to the principal. It took multiple attempts to get the firm to rectify the situation and one area is still not right. * The lighting system has exposed wires and still is not working properly; * The landscape does not look like what was promised in the presentation pictures the principal of the firm provided prior to my signing the contract; * Over 40% of the material planted was not appropriate for the site and died; * The crew damaged our deck and the firm has have yet to repair the problem: o First, the crew installed mismatched boards. o They did not use the board manufacturer's recommended screws and clips on those boards thereby invalidating the manufacturer's warranty on those boards and the boards to which they attached. And, o the crew neglected to screw down the 40+ deck boards cut for the trim addition on two levels of the deck. o Then, the crew improperly screwed down those boards. o I first advised the principal of the firm of the last problem and the principal of the firm said he would investigate the costs to fix the current deck problem and get back to me after his vacation. After his vacation, he said he would get back to me about it the following week. I have waited for his response to my request that the firm fix the deck destruction it caused. * When I met with the principal of the firm on 4/26/17, he assured me that: o he would replace the deck boards that his firm damaged and properly install the new boards (He said that he changed his mind and agreed to replace the deck boards because "...the installation was not up to industry standards..." and he "...believed in karma..."), o he would send me suggestions of plants and shrubs to replace all of the dead ones, He has not done anything since we met, despite calls, emails and a letter outlining our concerns and his unfilled promises to us. What is not reflected in the above is the inordinate amount of time and energy I have had to expend to get GreenSpaces Landscaping to provide the most rudimentary customer service and quality product which it purports to offer. read more

Our landscape project included steps from the side of our house to the backyard, a new patio, a raised garden and an enclosure to hide our A/C unit. We interviewed 3 landscapers and chose Ryan because he had lots of interesting ideas and pointed out things we hadn't considered. When he presented his plan about a week later, it was clear he had listened to us and had incorporated our likes/dislikes. The project started later than planned, but once it started, the team was on site every day, all day. The project was completed in the estimated time frame of two weeks, and on budget. Last summer we had Green Spaces Landscaping do a large project in our front yard. It started out with just a custom fence build, then we added onto to the list with adding turf, custom pavers, finishing off the front steps railing, all new plants and more. To say the yard transformed into an oasis is an understatement. We are thrilled with the final result! Ryan, his team and Karen have been great to work with. I love that Ryan could see the "vision" that I couldn't and I was a little hesitant to install turf but it was the best decision. Ryan worked with us on every detail and the crew was awesome. They were very respectful of the yard, cleaned up every day and were very communicative. I especially like that I didn't have to project manage anything! We used Green Spaces Landscaping for our new home with a very large yard. We could not be more pleased and we recommend Green Spaces to any and all. Ryan Sarvis, principal, listened intently and shared his own ideas and kept every single promise and more than fulfilled every single part of the contract. We purchased a hand-carved, 6600 pound, limestone fountain from Europe. Others had no idea what to do but Green Spaces said no problem, and figured it out. Cut out some concrete base and installed new base and lifted 1500 pound pieces into position. They brought in many tons of rocks and when I wanted something special we visited the rock place together and walked the yard until we found something we liked and they marked it right then and there and had four 2-ton special rocks delivered and then set them up. Grass, 1000 plants, hand-carved fountain, many tons of rocks, boulders, trees and landscape lighting. All perfect. These guys are THE BEST! read more

Green Spaces Landscaping transformed our backyard into an inviting space that we are simply thrilled with. We found and purchased a design consult coupon from Green Spaces Landscaping on Angie's List to get some ideas about what might be possible in our backyard. Ryan Sarvis came out to our home and spent quite awhile sharing ideas and inspiring us. Ryan listened to our hopes and answered all our questions. We had a rough idea of what we wanted to do before contacting Green Spaces; but Ryan brought our thoughts and ideas into focus and had many ideas we never even contemplated. Ryan is very knowledgeable about landscaping, hardscaping, decking, patios, lighting and more. Although we did have a few other quotes, we felt Ryan's expertise across a multitude of disciplines would be beneficial in ensuring everything would come together as planned. We had a couple of revisions of our contract/bid and the work to be performed and Ryan was flexible with us to maintain our targeted budget while still achieving our main and most important goals/priorities. There was a bit of delay due to the poor air quality this late summer but once the project kicked off we were so impressed by the Green Spaces Landscaping crew. We were blessed to have Matteo and Hayner as our two primary craftsmen. Hayner and Matteo were wonderful to have working around our home. For six weeks they came every weekday like clockwork showing up early in the morning and working tirelessly throughout the day in the wind, rain and even some brief snow. They are very conscientious and they take great pride in their work. We had a lot of fun talking with them about the work being done and they were very helpful when we asked questions about what was being done or fine-tuning some of the decisions. When I'd ask if something could be adjusted a bit; Hayner would say 'you're the boss'! We miss the guys and hope we get to work with them again in the future. One tidbit of advice is to communicate often with your designer. We worked directly with Ryan and a few times some ideas would get mixed up or forgotten so it is important to get as much detail as you feel you need to ensure you and the Green Spaces team are on the same page and have the same expectations. That said, Ryan was always able to accommodate our needs and we truly felt that his company's ultimate goal is to make his customers dreams a reality and do so at a fair value and with quality workmanship. In summary, we are very pleased with the outcome of our backyard makeover and are so thankful that Ryan and team were able to take on our project.
