I cannot put into words how absolutely stunning our backyard looks and functions. Emily, the design architect, came out and walked the yard and got to know how we wanted to use it. She understood we wanted easy low maintenance and came back with a great design. Eloy and Juan showed up on time each day, kept the work area neat and tidy and finished the job on time. They went above and beyond in all the work they did. I trusted them where to transplant the large rhododendron and azalea and they made the drawing come to life. We can't wait to use it this summer. I called and spoke to a woman about removing black berry debris and was going to ask about having design work done to include a patio, raised garden beds, a new deck and more. I never even got a chance to get to the rest of the project. As soon as she heard I wanted debris removed she got rid of me as soon as possible. I asked for suggestions on other landscapers and she had nothing to offer and just wished me luck using Google. As a business owner, for over 22 years myself, you never know who your customer is and what one small job may lead to. This company has a lot to learn about customer service and relations. read more

I called for a quote and made an appointment for 3pm. I asked the owner to be either on-time or just a bit early. He said he would arrive at 2:45. On the day of the appointment he called before the appointment to say that he would arrive at 3:30pm, and then never arrived or called again. I waited on the porch in front of our house until 3:45pm and then waited inside the front window until 4pm, at which point I wrote this review. **Update: He showed up at 4:20, over an hour and a half late. He seemed friendly, though he didn't measure the space. We will see how accurate his bid is and then update again. I upped the rating to 2 stars for showing up. read more

Although our yard has ended up looking pretty good, I'm not sure that I can trust that that will last long. Lifestyle Landscapes made some major screw ups along the way. Summary: - 7 diseased/damaged trees (as far as we know), - 6 trees planted in the wrong place, - broken irrigation pipe, - expensive Details: In the past several months, my husband and I hired Lifestyle Landscapes to plant 17 trees, do some expansions to our irrigation system, and add gravel to a pathway. You wouldn't believe the difficulties we had. Over the past month, Lifestyle Landscapes planted at least 5 diseased trees and 1 tree with pre-existing damage. Those and several other trees were just ugly-shaped. I didn't pay nearly $15,000 to get ugly, diseased, damaged trees as part of the package. Luckily I had an arborist check the new trees, which is how we found out about the diseases and damage. The Lifestyle Landscapes crew also planted 7 trees in the wrong places, and I had to get them (twice!) to move them. There was a diagram; the crew insisted that they were following it. I'd been very clear about where things should go, and the landscape designer had demonstrated to me that she understood where they should go. There was some miscommunication on the company's end. We had 3 of our dogwoods moved to the neighbors' yard. (For $300! Yikes.) The Lifestyle Landscapes crew put one in the wrong place; another they somehow broke off near the base. They replaced it ... with afore-mentioned damaged tree. We asked for another replacement tree, and the neighbor wanted it planted in a different spot, about 10 feet away. They were going to charge $50 for that. I refused to pay that. Ridiculous. Then a week ago I saw one of the baby fruit trees lying flat on the ground. Sent a photo ... landscape designer forwarded it to arborist ... it had ring rot. I'd asked for a combo Asian pear at the very beginning of the design process, in March, and Lifestyle Landscapes planted a non-combo Asian pear tree instead. I discovered it after the fact, and the response was that I had signed the contract with a Shinseiki pear tree. Yeah, I should have paid more attention - caveat emptor and all that - but also shouldn't have had to. So they said that I had no recourse, despite my having an email from the earliest planning stage, saying that I did want a combo tree. After that exchange, I got them to plant a combo Asian pear in another place so that I'd actually have one, and we split the bill, but I shouldn't have had to pay for it at all if Lifestyle Landscapes had integrity. In fact, at that point, if it were my business, I'd have been apologizing profusely and trying to do something extra for the client, if only sending flowers. And chocolates. Also, I hadn't actually signed a contract for the new combo Asian pear, so if I'd felt vindictive, I could have chosen not to pay, after Lifestyle Landscapes' earlier reference to my having signed the original contract with the tree that I hadn't requested. It was tempting. Oh, and about the irrigation system. (Can you can see where this is going? Or flowing?) We wanted to make sure that a particular tree, planted by the arborist, was getting watered. Lifestyle Landscapes apparently found a sprinkler head there but didn't *test* the system. We tested it later; the tree wasn't actually getting water. Turns out that we had a new "water feature" ... there was a rivulet upstream from the tree, because the Lifestyle Landscapes crew had broken an irrigation pipe. We understand that irrigation pipes can get broken when digging is done. However, the crew should have actually tested the irrigation system during and after the planting process, fixed the pipe without having to be asked, and told us that there had been a problem. I've been so angry. I started this process to be happier about our living environment. It's been a challenge to set that anger aside when I look at the yard, worrying about what else might go wrong with our new trees. I want to love the yard, not feel angry when I look at it. If anything resulting from this work does go wrong, even something under warranty, I'm not sure I'd trust Lifestyle Landscapes to fix it properly. It's too bad. We hired them after our house remodel in 2007, and they did a good job then. New management?? Update: On June 18, our gardener told me that several of the new trees are leaning and needed to be staked. I thought I was done dealing with Lifestyle Landscapes' mistakes. I won't ask them to fix it because they might screw it up. read more

I highly recommend Lifestyle Landscape for your projects no matter the size. Ours was a large project that included design, walls, plantings, sprinkler system, patios, arbors, electrical, etc. From the beginning I was impressed with the designer Noelle. I'm a stickler for being on time and she was always on time. I was also impressed with the fact that at all times she wanted to make sure we were happy and got what we wanted. She never over sold us on everything. Once we decided on the plan her team was there everyday working in all weather to complete the project in an expedient manner. If there were corrections to be made they were completed right away. When it was time to winterize sprinklers, they called, schedule, and Jose was there promptly. I received a direct mail piece about Lifestyles great design and talking about how they could set up an overall plan and implement in steps. So I called them out. They charged me $600 bucks to do a landscape design that was terrible. I had them redo it three times before I gave up. And their prices were on the moon! Waste of 600 bucks. We bought a house with 90 feet of dying hedges. I called Lifestyle Landscapes to help me with a design to replace it, as well as doing some work in the rear garden. David Bisom, owner, came out, listened carefully, and came back with a design. I changed my mind a few times, but he was always patient and willing to come up with new ideas until we settled on something that has turned out beautifully. I will say that his crew is not only competent and hardworking, but professional and friendly as well. They went the extra mile for me when it came to cleanup and placing very heavy stone art. We have used Lifestyle Landscapes for many years and many landscaping projects and annual sprinkler system maintenance. The projects have ranged from large scale yard redesign to drainage issues. Our backyard started out as a large slab of concrete and they transformed it into a sanctuary. We spent some time with him discussing what we were looking for and he came back with a fantastic design. It was a long term project and they completed it on time and at the agreed upon estimate. I had not used my backyard in several years and it had become an area of overgrowth and dog trails, which I referred to as my jungle. After researching, interviewing, and checking references of several landscaping companies I choose Life-Style Landscaping. This was a complete overhaul of my back yard removing everything including all vegetation, an existing patio, and cement stairs. I installed two paver patio areas, an underground irrigation system, new planting beds with plants/trees, trellis, gate, and a gravel space for future raised planter beds. David B. was the Sr. Landscape designer and what I referred to as my project manager. From the very first day David was in daily contact with me and worked around my schedule to do walk-throughs. He patiently answered all of my questions each and every time. If I had changes that needed to be done those items were taken care of immediately. My back yard was very uneven which they graded to make it much more usable space. The pavers were placed down and secured properly. My back step went from something the dog could barely stand on to a wonderful landing area. The irrigation system was installed to maximize the use of space and water. I now have the back yard of my dreams. David and his crew worked very hard on my yard and what they did was nothing short of a miracle in my eyes. Communication was the key to of this project and I felt David always listened to what I wanted with adding his ideas which made the outcome a complete success. The project was on time and on budget. I am an architect. Recently, I did a consulting job in West Seattle where Lifestyle Landscapes had recently designed and completed a total yard redesign and installation. I was very impressed with the results. In the front yard, Lifestyle had installed a charming front fence with roses with a decorative iron gate (the house is Victorian in style). Grass hadn't done well in the front yard because of heavy shade. It was replaced by large slate stones, creating a roomy and lovely outdoor living space, bordered by shade gardens and furnished with antique wrought iron benches. The design totally co-ordinated with the architecture of the house. My client was also pleased with the design and process. read more

We had three landscapers from Lifestyle come in and beautifully transform an otherwise messy and neglected yard, including contouring the bushes which had not been done for a very long time and installing mulch . Unfortunately I did not take before and after pictures. I gave a 3 star because my one regret is that ground weed in the grass, although mowed, was not removed at all. I thought it would be included but when I asked at the end of the project I was given some reason which I no longer recall. read more

I'm so glad that I did not cancel my first meeting with Lifestyle Landscapes after reading those horrific reviews. Our experience turned out to be very positive and pleasant. I guess that they have taken lessons from their past mistakes. Our project is in no way an easy one, particularly with the backyard which is shady and narrow. And there are ugly scenes from our neighbor's yard to be screened out. Lifestyle's quick response and enthusiasm in taking the challenge drew us away from the other landscaping companies that we had discussions with. By our project, Lifestyle exceeded our expectation from start to finish. They turned a boring messy yard to a vibrant beautiful garden around our house. We were so delighted with the final outcome when we got home from work yesterday. The landscape consultants, Arlene and Katherine, listened to our needs and ideas carefully, stayed cautious on our budget, and replied to our questions quickly throughout the design and installation process. We love the design they created, the granite stairs they proposed and the plants they picked for us. Everything fits our taste and the surrounding conditions amazingly well. The crew did the installation to a high standard and cleaned up the site every day before leaving. The irrigation specialist Jose even set the watering schedule on our sprinkler system for us. They completed the project right on schedule. We were very impressed with their professionalism and focus on client satisfaction.
