After buying our house we realized that our yard was way more maintenance than expected, plus there was a lot of deferred needs that were passed on by the seller. We had an unsightly and very difficult to maintain slope along the front of our yard. We found Vertumni and Bruce came out to take a look and propose some ideas. He was very straight-forward and clearly expressed the different options available to us, and we're extremely happy with the results of the option we chose. Not only was his design great, but the team executing the work was stellar. Now we have better erosion control, safer irrigation, and lots small boulders and PNW native plants and shrubs making up the slope. Vertumni did an AMAZING job clearing our invasive blackberries, ivy and general overgrown, weedy areas. We have a pretty big lot for a Seattle home, and my husband and I were in awe at how thoroughly they cleared our property in only one day. They even went above and beyond, clearing some dead branches from one of our trees and edging our garden bed. They had a small, unexpected scheduling item pop up the day of our scheduled landscaping, and their communication was great. Crew still arrived on time and finished the entire job. I called Vertumni on a recommendation to help us re-envision our front yard landscaping. I love to garden, but the ground covers, ivy, small shrubs, a small pond, and grasses, etc., were completely out of control and difficult to maintain. I realized we needed expert help to move forward, and that's exactly what we got. Bruce and team FAR exceeded expectations. Very quickly a new vision was presented, options presented and agree on. We ended up completely redoing the front yard, adding low growing and lower maintenance ground cover and repurposing a few smaller existing trees. In one day, the major section of our front garden was transformed. Now, it is both easier to maintain and a joy to look at. My husband and I were actually stunned at the transformation. I have been using Vertumni since for regular garden maintenance, and they consistently exceed expectations. From clearing ivy and an invasion ground cover to general clean up, the team does a great job and often see things I may not have. Bruce and the Vertumni crew did an outstanding job on our front yard sidewalk strips. For years my wife and I battled picking through weeds to make this area look as best as we could, and now we are so pleased with how their design and results turned out. We conveyed to Bruce that we wanted drought resistant plants and an area that would give us very little maintenance down the road. They accomplished this for us and then some. The workers did such a great job preserving as many plants of ours as they could and implemented them into the grand design. We had a great experience working with Vertumni Landscaping. Alyssa was amazing with scheduling and communication - they were very busy and they had to schedule several months out, but were communicative with updates. Bruce was great as the designer and worked with us on our needs and the plants we wanted to use. The plants are high quality and still thriving after a couple of months. Romaldo and the team were fantastic! They worked very hard on some difficult terrain and we love how it turned out. Contacted them on 01/29 - they emailed me on the 30th asking when they could come out and visit my project. I emailed them back, on the 30th - same day, giving some options. They emailed me back on the 7th [yes, 7 days later] saying that they were sorry for the delay and it was due to snow. Ok. Fine. We booked for the 19th. They never showed for our appointment, tried to call - no one answered. Emailed them, they responded back that they had a scheduling system error and we could try again. No thanks. read more

I have never been more disgusted with a company and their lack of professionalism!! In the Spring of 2019, We reached out to have someone give us a quote, and we were able to get an appointment within a week, but after Bruce came and we received the quote, we never heard from them again. I signed the paper, sent it back, and didn't receive a confirmation so I reached out to Alyssa (who originally sent the quote). No response. I called 3 times, never got a call back, and emailed 2-3 times... heard back 10 days later that "they were sorry they were out of the office and they were working to schedule me as soon as possible". Never received a call or another email or a scheduled time. Very unprofessional company and will never work with them again. read more

They are not inexpensive and I sometimes wonder whether I could find a company that cost a little bit less. Super nice employees! Vertumni was doing a landscaping job next door, I happened to need some topsoil for a planter in my yard and noticed they had a truck full of the stuff. I asked if they happened to have extra if they would throw some in my planter. I wanted to pay for the job but they said "don't worry about it" and filled my planter up and made sure it was all raked even. Couldn't believe it, and it looks like they did a great job on my neighbors yard. read more

What they helped create for me was just beautiful and my neighbors really liked what they saw in my small yard. This is the FIFTH time I've had them back. Vertumni Fine Landscaping & Design has been to my home on numerous occasions, and done a wide variety of tasks, including: plant a 5x5 foot Mediterranean Fan Palm in my backyard garden; re-landscape the front yard; install and maintain lush sod on my parking strip; remove every stick of dead bamboo from the bamboo hedge that borders my driveway; trim my small boxwood hedge and tall arbor vitae hedge; weed and remove plant debris from the entire property; spread mulch; and more. They leave the property pristine using a combination of blowers, brooms, and bare hands. The crew arrives on time, goes immediately to work, and remains diligently on task the entire time they are here. The crew leader of my usual team is friendly and open to input from me. More impressively, he not only completes (with the help of his crew, that he closely supervises) everything on my scope of work list; he also does things on his own initiative, like dig the moss out from between my pavers. He also makes recommendations, such as cutting the ferns back in springtime, but always checks with me first to get my approval. I feel like the guys treat my garden as if it was their own, taking great care to make it beautiful. Vertumni is NOT a "mow and blow" operation. They consistently exceed my expectations. I hired this company based on the award from Seattle Mag Best Landscaper of the year, and boy were they right. As soon as I met Bruce (owner of company?) and he started off with all his ideas I got excited. He listened to what I liked but could explain why some of my ideas just wouldnt work with what we had to work with. What he came up with was amazing. While he brought in a nice crew it impressed me to see how much he was involved with the actual work. He also recommended irrigation for the most benefit of the landscape so I took him up on that. His irrigation guy was amazing and well worth the extra money. read more

Lazy and incompetent. Project came in late and $800 over budget. 3 years later, the bamboo they installed in a trench is popping up in my yard. When I tried to get them to address this....they just ignored me for 3 weeks until I wrote basically *this* review, which is now deleted....SHOCKER. Look elsewhere. We've never had a landscaper before, but we were having trouble keeping up with the transition from winter to everything growing wild in the spring. We sent in a bunch of pictures of our yard with the general direction of "just clean things up." We asked Vertumni to send a team for two hours. When we got home from work that day, we saw our lawn was transformed. They did an amazing job. It wasn't cheap, but I think the price was fair and it was well worth all the work they did. From start to finish Bruce and his team are thoughtful and through professionals. I had them remove a below ground decorative pond and hardscape over it. Bruce's quote came in at a very fair and competitive price. Alyssa, the operations manager, was sensitive to our time frame and got the project scheduled as quickly as possible. She was also very clear and concise in all of her communications. The team who came to do the work were fast and meticulous. They left our patio cleaner then when they arrived and we have been enjoying the new and improved patio ever sense. Bruce Bond and the Vertumni crew did a simply fantastic job recreating the front of our QA house !! They carefully and cleanly removed some very fungus ridden trees and planted coral maples with green dwarf mongo as ground cover. Vertumni sends a team of professionals to make sure your yard is more beautiful than you could have imagined. My husband and I had them remove 2 giant maple trees that had died, a giant juniper bush, and a yucca plant in addition to planting some new trees and trimming a Camelia. The team did an incredible job, including thoughtful finishing touches. For instance, they raked up all the leaves in our backyard, even though it wasn't a part of the Camelia trim. They put bark in around the new trees and on our rock wall where big bushes were removed (making it feel finished even though it was suddenly bare). They replaced the grass where one tree was removed (that wasn't getting replaced) so that you couldn't tell a huge tree had been there before. They cleaned up so that there wasn't a single sign that large-scale landscape work had been done. Best of all, they were courteous, efficient, showed up right on time, and were extremely hard working. We were also super impressed with their aesthetic (e.g., putting the new trees in with perfect rotation and perfectly straight exactly where we had asked). Overall, a spectacular transformation in a single day of work. We highly recommend them! read more

Bruce and his crew, headed by Romualdo recently finished our back yard. They added a patio, a fire pit, stone paths and lots and lots of plants for privacy, beauty and even food. We had Vertumni come out to give us an estimate for one-time and ongoing landscaping. I filled out and sent in a survey beforehand about my landscaping preferences. The guy who came out arrived an hour late, as it was getting dark, making it very to actually discuss our property. He hadn't bothered to read the form I'd spent so much time on, and he hadn't bothered going by the house whose landscaping I said I wanted to emulate. The plants and styles he suggested were out of line with our current and desired style. When I drove past his reference customer's houses, I noticed that they were all in line with what he had suggested for us - they're just what he likes. That would have been ok if they were nice, but they really weren't. His estimate was ultimately for way more work than we requested (e.g., I said I wanted to emulate the half of the beds I'd already done on the other half; his bid included replacing both halves). When we replied with a question of clarification, we didn't hear back. Getting an estimate from Vertumni was a waste of our time and ultimately slowed down our progress in getting landscaping done on our property. read more

Bruce generously donated a Garden Design from Vertumni Fine Landscaping and Gardening valued at $250 to the Brain Injury Association of Washington fundraising Gala. I purchased this certificate and looked forward to my new garden design. Bruce came to my home on March 2, spent an hour looking around asking about what I like, did not like and promised to send me a sketch by email "in a week or two". Two months later and I have as yet to receive the sketch. I have contacted Vertumni repeatedly. The pleasant woman who answers the phone promises that Bruce will respond "soon". Last week I was told they are short of workers and that Bruce definitely plans to honor his obligation, another call from Bruce promised within a week. Nothing. I am understanding of short staffing and the fact that this was a donated service. But the lack of communication is very unprofessional. I would not recommend Vertumni to anyone. read more
