Cambium Landscape worked in our yard the week of April 1st, doing a variety of pruning jobs including 18 topiary boxwoods, a Russian laurel hedge, a very large otto luyken laurel, 2 very large rose arbors, an arborvitae hedge, and others. They did an absolutely beautiful job, and were wonderful to work with. Their price was very reasonable and fair. I could not be more pleased! Cambium was responsible for my landscape remodel. Their design and project management is top notch. Tim and Janielle were both extremely responsive. They are well-versed and experts in their space. I was especially impressed with Cambium's lighting design. I didn't think being able to enjoy my outdoor space at night would ever be much of a thing. Finally, I love the tech options! Cambium - my new driveway - Landscaping Near Me - Seattle, Washington

This review isn't about work performed by Cambium, but rather the goodness of Chris Hogan. My husband recently lost his "wallet" in a parking lot in a recent Seattle snow storm. Chris found it and since my husband's drivers license wasn't in it, he contacted the credit card company of the card in the wallet and they put us in touch with him. He offered to drop it off at our home or mail it to us..the next day he brought it to our home. Thank you Chris for your honesty and going out of your way for us. read more

Edit: I received a note from the business owner so I have amended a few of my statements in order to give the fuller picture. I do not feel that my previous review was in any way inaccurate or unfair. Edit edit: My partner received a nice follow-up message, which is very good manners. My partner originally contacted Cambium on 12/29/14 by phone and by email 12/30/14; they were apparently on vacation until 1/5/15 because we didn't hear back from them until then. They left a message on my partner's phone; he called back a few times and was told that they would return his call, which they did not do. On the 12th, he left an email requesting a call back and got another voice mail; it wasn't until the 13th that he and a Cambium representative were actually able to connect and schedule the initial visit for 1/21/15. The scheduled visit was canceled last minute (due to the flu, which happens, but it's not a one-man job so they could have sent someone else as a courtesy for all the phone tag played just to set up the visit) and rescheduled for 1/28/15. We had a big project in mind: expanding the whole yard, new fence, small patio, raised garden beds, turf for a dog run, all new plants. So even though we only have a townhouse yard, it wasn't as though we were planning on being stingy. The guy who did the visit, Tim, had lots of great ideas and seemed to know his stuff, and we were excited to get started. However, we were told that they were so busy that they couldn't start the project until May or June; though we were hoping for an earlier timeline, we were cool with that and asked to have someone draw up a design and a quote for us. We were told that someone would email us right away to have another member of the team come over and take pictures and measurements, and then we'd get our quote, et cetera. Instead, we got an email on 2/3/15 explaining that they're too busy and our job is too small for them ("After careful consideration of your project, and discussing it with my staff, we feel it is not a good fit for our firm. We can't be cost effective on smaller projects and we currently have a back-logged work load."), and a referral to a different company. I appreciate the referral, but if they were going to blow us off it would have been nice if they could have done it when we first tried to get in touch with them rather than leading us on for a month. Furthermore, it says in their materials that they do small jobs - they have a whole brochure dedicated to it - and at no point during the hour-long meeting with Tim did he ever indicate that our project wasn't worth his time. I understand the necessity of turning away some business for the sake of doing the jobs you have right. What I don't appreciate is being ignored and misled; we're busy professionals, too, but apparently only their time requires respect. We were forthright about our project; if Cambium isn't interested in townhouse yards, which are smaller jobs by nature, then they a) shouldn't advertise that they do small jobs or b) let hopeful clients know up front that they don't have time to tackle small jobs at present. read more

In every aspect, we could not have asked for a better experience. We had lived with essentially an unfinished backyard for five years, venturing out there only to mow and weed. After several regrettable attempts at bringing home various finds from the nurseries, we finally decided to hire someone with a vision and common sense. Interviewing several firms, we enthusiastically signed with Cambium, whose presentation, follow through, and competitive pricing were impressive. Among many of their qualities, one we most admired was their ability to listen, interpret, and hone our ideas. This, in tandem with keen observation, enabled Cambium to craft a yard that truly encapsulates our style. Since Cambium's a smaller company, we felt a strong rapport with both Jason, the designer, and the full-time foreman, Joel. We appreciated their combined experience, sensibilities, and strong work ethics. They troubleshot some tricky situations, remaining within the negotiated budget and always keeping us in the loop. Cambium also taps local talent, such as the picket fence maker in Mulkiteo, who cut-to-order a design on which we collaborated with Jason. The result: a whimsical, attractive border framing the top tier of our yard. The hardscaping, landscaping, and plant selections have brightened our backyard, making it a real extension of our home. Although we thought we had seen the last of Cambium as the Honey Bucket was being hauled away, Jason continues to check in to see how our yard and lives are faring. With such service, we feel very fortunate to have selected Cambium. read more

This group is awesome! Yesterday they completed a spring cleaning of the yard and it has never looked so wonderful. They were professional, courteous and did an excellent job. We have them signed up for monthly maintenance which will help keep their great work and our yard in stellar shape. My project with Cambium was a parking strip redo. Initially, I contacted Cambium October 2020 for a bid. Jimmy met me on site shortly after I contacted Cambium. Jimmy was generous with general information on permitting, etc.. He was upfront that, although we were hoping for sooner, our project wouldn't likely be scheduled until Spring. Through the planning part of the project, Jimmy was fun and easy to work with. Once planning was complete, Jimmy would intermittently check in as we waited for spring. Chris was in charge of the construction phase which started in March. I only needed to contact Chris a few times. His responses were timely and pleasant. I was very pleased with the construction. It seemed everything was done correctly-from the way the gravel was packed, to the liners around the pavers, etc. On on site crew, Jose and Ruben, really took care and time to do things correctly. The pavers were set in a herringbone pattern, which is not easy to set. Great care was taken in the spacing and layout. Where the parking strip slopes, the pavers were shaped to slope just so as well. Installation of the pavers in herringbone layout was masterful. Design on paper looked fine, in real life looked great. I really enjoyed working with everyone at Cambium. A big thanks to Jimmy, Chris, Jose, Rubin and Claudia. read more

For more than 5 years, we have counted on the incredible service and quality that Cambium offers. Beginning with the re-design of much of our landscaping during an extensive home remodel, Cambium offered insight, professionalism, and adaptability at every phase of the project. During our first planning phases, Jason and Tim listened to our wish list: the yard had been established prior to remodeling, so we wanted to maintain the old feel, but also update the yard to suit the house, which we purposefully were changing to "bring the outside inside." We could not have worked with anyone more appropriate for the complexities of this job. Their knowledge of everything yard-related, from earth science to plantings, materials, and even psychology brought our ideas to life with more possibility than we had even imagined. And, they understand budgeting. Jason had no problems explaining various options along the entire price spectrum, making recommendations and suggestions for how to accomplish and/or prioritize our landscaping objectives. When we decided on a "Rome wasn't built in a day" strategy for developing our yard in phases, Jason came up with a plan that both made sense and also provided that instant gratification of a beautiful garden right away. Since then, the plantings have continued to mature and the development of other construction projects has enhanced the whole garden. In our case, local talent included masons, electricians, and even a mosaic artist from Seattle. Everyone we met through Cambium shared their same commitment to quality and service. All of the work that Cambium has either done or overseen has made our yard and our home feel uniquely ours. We still see Cambium on a regular basis. Our new home has had significant issues in our backyard ever since moving in. Josh from Cambium was kind enough to come out and inspect our area and give some recommendations as to what could be done to dramatically improve the area. We are moving forward with his recommendation with the utmost confidence! I had the pleasure of meeting Tim from Cambium when I was planning a front yard renovation. We did not end up working together in the end, but I was very impressed by their whole operation. My job was on the small end of what Cambium typically does, and I was looking to start right in the thick of the spring rush, but Tim worked with me to come up with a design that fit my budget and a timeline that beat the dry summer season. He was easy to communicate with throughout the process, and I found him very responsive and flexible in how he devised a plan that was not their norm. I went with a competitive bid from a smaller company - leading to snafus that I know Cambium would have avoided! - but I left the process feeling very appreciative of Cambium and grateful to have them here in the Madrona neighborhood. read more

I had the pleasure of working with Cambium last spring on my backyard garden. We recently moved into a craftsman bungalow in Wallingford and really wanted to make an outdoor space that was perfect for entertaining. Tim, the owner, was amazing to work with. He understood my aesthetic right from the beginning, providing numerous ideas upon the first meeting. We didn't have a huge budget by any means, but Tim worked with us on creating a space that was both functional and beautiful within our means. It has grown in now, and we are anxious to entertain this spring and summer with friends! We especially love the bluestone he used throughout the design. Cambium did an AMAZING job refinishing our backyard. We have a fairly small yard in Seattle and were a bit apprehensive about having a brand name company come in to remodel our small space. But they did an amazing job with every aspect of the job - space, maintenance, aesthetic, plant selection, budget, time line, etc. We could not have asked for a better group of folks! My husband and I have two brown thumbs and are completely dumbfounded when it comes to pruning, stone work, patios, watering, fertilizing, maintenance, etc. Jason did an incredible job creating a backyard space that fits our lifestyle. He put our visions onto paper then in the backyard. He is incredibly considerate and detailed oriented. The crew did a phenomenal job completing the project on a tight time line and were very respectful of our neighbors and other spaces. We hardly noticed they were there. Best of all, we now have a beautiful back yard space to enjoy with our family and friends.
