I heard a blower, came out to see these guys cleaning up the grounds of the business across the street. All was going well until, as usual, they blew all the stuff into the next door neighbors yard and sidewalk, that she had just yesterday worked so hard to spruce up. I almost went and said something, but lickety split they were in the truck and gone. I spoke to a different guy on another occasion and obviously got no where. I know it's the nature of using a blower that makes it more difficult to make a pile and pick it up, but they must have a broom and dustpan. What makes it worse is I'm sure they're doing this everywhere they work, and aggravating all those neighbors. read more

I asked my neighbor who she used for lawn service, thinking my home being right next door would be an easy job. My yard takes me literally 5 minutes to mow, being so small. I called the number listed and spoke to a man who told me his partner would get back to me the next day. That was FIVE days ago. Instead of a call from his partner, I received a text stating: "If you are still in need of yard service care a full service program runs $125/mo" No explanation as to what 'full service program' means. These people are horrible business men and even worse at customer service. read more

I really wish I could write a better review since all of our phone interactions have been decent, but I just can't at this point. We hired these folks to mow the lawn every other week on a specific day starting last fall, and it's been really hit or miss what day they'll show up, whether they'll actually show up every other week, and whether we get charged for days that no one came. I work from home, so I can actually see when they're here (and have had several instances where they show up on the wrong day and start mowing under my window during a conference call). I've had to ask for the bill to be adjusted more than once when they say they've been here on days that they have not. Icing on the cake: we have dogs and, while we can't always clean up the yard, we do make an effort to get things cleaned up when we know they're coming. Since they don't call to let us know when they'll be here and almost never show up on their scheduled day (or sometimes the scheduled week), the yard often hasn't been picked up yet when they arrive. They left one note back in December asking us to pick up the yard, and I called the manager to let him know we would do our best but they really need to let us know they're coming so we can make sure we get it done. I thought that was that. Today I came home and saw that they had been here while I was at the store (again with no notice on the wrong day), and that they had thoughtfully picked up all dog poo in the yard - and lined it up at the base of our stairs, less than 10 feet from the bucket we use for pickup. Photos uploaded above in the Photos section for this business. We've put up with incorrect billing and spotty service for several months. These guys passive aggressively covering our patio with dog poop instead of calling, emailing, or even simply saying "we won't mow if this isn't cleaned up"? This is the last straw, and we'll find someone better. Save yourself some time and headache; call someone else. Edit: I asked for my final invoice last night and said that they could at least not charge us for the service yesterday since they piled poop on our stairs. The only response I got was an invoice charging full price for service: no apology, no discount, nothing. Great customer service, guys. read more

There's a pattern in the negative reviews and Im disappointed to contribute. The service was fine. Dependable quality and good job on weekly edging and mowing. However the owner Marcus is extremely unprofessional. We found in the last week his team had chosen to dispose of the grass clippings we presume, that had been collected across the day, into our Seattle Utilities 96 gallon cart, filling it completely! When we called on Saturday to ask him to have his team come by to remove it we were countered with 1. We don't work on weekends so it's not gonna happen, 2. I'm all alone today and don't have anyone to help me, 3. You're asking me not to spend time with my family, and I'm not going leave them just this second. Sigh... Mind you, I started the conversation with Marcus by stating "I really like and appreciate the service you provide. However, we have a problem from yesterday..." When I offered to help Marcus empty the container if he brought the truck around, he said no. When I asked him what would be a better time TODAY if he was spending time with family he hedged. Finally I offered to just bring the cart by (a block away) to empty into his back alley containers. He said, sure. He came by half an hour later in a huff, squealing into our driveway, then loudly emptying the container into his truck and then peeling off with screeching tires. The neighbors all commented about it later that day. Instead of looking to his team as being the source of the problem, we were blamed because he then FIRED US! In short, if you ever have a problem with this group, expect that you won't be dealing with an owner that is capable of being accountable, lacks ANY ability to cope with criticism, and will angrily turn on you. Service started out GREAT with these guys! Then, much like the other low rating reviews you see here, service started to slip and I was being charged even though they were not showing up and actually servicing the lawn. If I wrote an email, someone would eventually show up, but as I pay on time, fair business practices says I should get regular service. The last straw came in after I paid for service in February and March when there was snow on the ground 4-5 weeks and I was charged for "service" despite the inability to so much as see the grass, let alone mow it. I paid it in good faith, but now it's just back to another string of billing with no service. I strongly recommend not going with these guys. read more

Customer service is severely lacking - every time I called about an issue with my service (there were more than a few...), I felt like I was bothering them. The issues were related to pretty basic things like edging (they didn't use an edging tool and it looks like they used a blunt object to edge our lawn... there was a huge 2 inch gap between the grass and the sidewalk), leaving large sharp pruning tools on the lawn where they could have easily hurt someone, and overcharging me (they charged me more than they originally quoted, but then changed it when I called to complain). I'm giving them two stars only because they successfully mowed my lawn when I asked them to and the cost was appropriate for our small space. read more

I live in a home with 5 broke college kids in the middle of a nice neighborhood in North Seattle. We like to keep our yard looking decent so our landlord and neighbors don't judge us, but when our lawn mower broke down and the leaves started falling we got in over our heads. 5 Men and a Mower gave me a really great deal, and came by 2 days later to get everything done. It looked fantastic - my landlord was impressed. I didn't need to be home, they got the job done and hauled everything away. Will definitely be asking them to come back in the next few days to do it again. read more

Not good. Hired them to take care of my son's yard while he was in the hospital. Barely kept the lawn cut, didn't trim the grass close to the fence or along the edge of planter beds, never edged the grass and never touched the back yard planter beds. In winter when the lawn wasn't growing, they did clear weeds from one front planter bed but they also removed most of the shrubs in the bed. They also cut the low voltage yard light wiring and broke 2 lights so I back charged them for the cost of the light fixtures. Requested a cost estimate for doing some additional work around the yard like removing blackberry vines, pruning shrubs, etc. Sent the request in the form of a multi item listing of individual projects and asked for an itemized anticipated cost for each item. After repeated requests for a quote, two months later I received an estimate consisting of three high priced lump sum dollar amounts. For the month of May they billed for three visits, but only came twice. Terminated their service at that point. The following month I got a bill for three visits after their termination. However my daughter in law reported that nobody had been there for the entire month. After my son died, we were involved in an auto accident and I forgot to send the final payment to Marcus. But I have since paid that with interest and attached an apology and explanation about the delay with the check. read more

It's been several years now that I have used 5 men and a mower on a weekly basis. I love to garden but I hate to mow and I have bad knees to keep up with the weeding. The service that this crew has given me has been fantastic. First I love my manicured lawn. Second I like the crew that show up to my home. They are really nice young men. Third, they have worked out a system that is mindful and appropriate to the seasons. When it's time to fertalize, they have it done before I can remind them. If the ivy is growing out of control, they are on it. When my plants die back, they prune and clean out the bed. The landscaping always looks beautiful. Today I walked out to find they had scraped the moss growing on my side walk. I didn't expect that! That was on my list to do! These guys are great! I needed a small landscaping project done for my home in Greenwood and tried to get 4 estimates. 2 companies never returned my call the third quoted a price half again as much as the price Marcus quoted. I went with Marcus. There was rain that delayed the project but Marcus kept me informed and he and his crew were professional and prompt. We were so pleased we asked them to give us an estimate for another project and the price was so reasonable we didn't bother to get other estimates. I didn't have them do anything special, just mow my yard. They were quick, clean and did the job well. I often didn't know that they had been there until I saw that the lawn had been mowed. In all of my dealings with them, they have been courteous and helpful. Their prices are reasonable and I received my invoice on a regular basis. Although I paid with a check through the mail, they have the ability to pay online. Although winter is coming and lawn mowing will not be necessary, I will definitely consider hiring them again in the Spring. read more

We asked them not to use chemical sprays, they continued to ignore us and spray toxic chemicals on our yard. The workers they send out are amazing. Always fast, complete and nice. The management needs work. Not only do they not communicate when asked questions about the work or what they fees are, but do not respond to agreed upon needs. I went over the entire area of my yard with Jay and we seemed to be on the same page, but when it came time to do the work, their workers were unprepared and not aware of what they were to do. When I reached out to Marcus and Jay on at least 6 different occasions, no response, or "I was misinformed". They would have a great business if they can manage their customers better and with more respect. I hired 5 Men & A Mower to do a clean up job on my very overgrown rental. They were able to give me an estimate the day after I called them and to schedule the service for the same week. A crew of 4 men arrived promptly and proceeded to efficiently and without mercy pull every weed, trim every errant branch and clean up spaces I'd been scared to venture into. I can now see what's behind my shed and they discovered a hidden garden statue in one of my overgrown bushes! When I got home, the yard looked seriously awesome. They even shoveled and replaced the mulch that had been scattered and displaced all over the driveway and sidewalk at some point before we moved in. I'm delighted with the work that they did. I don't usually write yelp reviews - but my experience with this company was so terrible I feel like it is my responsibility to share. First of all: they are unreliable -they were scheduled to show up on Fridays and sometimes would, and sometimes would not. The mowing was always fine, but when I spoke to the owner to set up the service I had asked for general upkeep as well. Very rarely they would pull some weeds or trim a hedge - but it was very hit or miss. Secondly: The billing made no sense. I would get billed for days they had missed, weird charges that I had not signed up for would show up on the bill (I got enrolled in a fertilizer program that I had never heard of before or had an explanation of, but was costing $100/month, etc.). I would ask questions by email to the owner/operator and would receive answers that either did not make sense - or no answer at all. Also - we had a blow up bouncy castle in the yard for my daughter. They moved it to make room for mowing and put it directly on a rose bush. Not surprisingly - it got a hole and we have never been able to use it again. I didn't even bother bringing it up with the owner because at that point none of my interactions or questions had had satisfactory responses. read more

If you are looking for someone to just cut the lawn then they may do the trick as they are priced reasonably and Marcus is friendly over email. Having said that I needed more care of the lawn and treatments to ensure weed didn't grow and they didn't help and Marcus went three weeks without replying to me.
