Fantastic advice and great service! I got a list of Landscape Designers from Sky Nursery. Verde Gardens stood out both because of the pictures on her website and her prompt response when I reached out. After talking on the phone we set up an appointment for her to come by and look at my yard. Michelle took stock of the space and suggested several ideas to see what I liked and what would fit in my budget. After this, she returned on a follow up appointment with drawings of the two potential layouts she had promised. To my surprise, she was so enthused she included a third option which turned out to be the one that my partner and I liked most. Next it was down to choosing materials and plants. Michelle provided the perfect amount of advice, giving me lots of different choices and making suggestions when I needed her input, and taking time to explain the cost differences on different paving stone options. She had a list of landscapers and chose one of her favorites to do my yard. Two years ago I was searching websites for a landscape designer and came across Michelle Lemoine of Verde Gardens. I looked at her website which detailed the design process, then looked at her gallery of before and after photos, along with a description of the issues being addressed. Michelle has a degree in horticulture and is a certified arborist, as well as being a landscape designer; additionally, she has an art background. When I first called, Michelle did not have time in her schedule to take my project on, but she did have time for a consultation. Over time, the consultation turned into a full redo of both hardscaping and landscaping of front, back, and side yards. She recommended a landscaping company to do all the installation of irrigation and plantings, and I am so pleased with their performance. Michelle was on site with the landscaping installers for the placement of all plantings. She is easy to work with, prompt in responding, and follows through in every case. Michelle's knowledge of native plants and cultivars is extensive; this was important for my yard, which was a stream restoration. Additionally, her artistic sense really came to the fore, and the yard is simply beautiful! The color combinations, textures, heights all came together to make an impressive show, and I could not be happier with the outcome. Our backyard has always been an eyesore. We knew that we wanted to improve it, but didn't want to break the bank. That was easier said than done because we don't know much about plants/landscaping, and we had even fewer ideas. I knew a good way to tackle the yard would to get a landscape plan done and then we could do the manual work. We hired Michelle to make our plan. She was responsive, friendly, and very knowledgeable. I flew Michelle from Washington to Chicago to specifically design a 2 acre garden for me that would be the worthy of the neighborhood. I put her up at a local hotel for 3 weeks while completing the very detailed plans for hardscape and plantings. Trucks were coming almost daily to deliver her selections, all the while she was directing a group of local landscapers to plant all the various trees, shrubs, grasses, and flowers this project required. When it was completed ( everyone working 12 hour days 7 days a week for 3 weeks), I was blown away how well everything harmonized with the existing surroundings.
