Seafood Ramen

Food and service was great! JJ was super sweet and helped us understand the menu and her recommendations were exactly what we were looking for!

Chicken Karaage Rice Bowl
Shinta S.

From time to time, I crave for some fried chicken bites. This karagee rice bowl satisfies it. The chicken is crispy on the outside, juicy inside and very flavorful. Comes with spicy Mayo dip on the side. Portion is perfect for me -- I don't get too full too much. I would order from here again for sure!! Parking is a bit challenging but doable for quick pickup. I go from the back alley.

Chicken Katsu Ramen
Tina D.

Went with a group of friends when they just opened, so there was no wait for us. We just ordered at the tablet. I got the chicken Katsu ramen. The Katsu was on the side so you can dip it into the ramen. It was decent and affordable. It's not the best ramen, but it was good enough. Service was quick too.

Overpriced for a small portion.

Look Noodles is an Asian restaurant near the University of Texas at Austin that specializes in Chinese and Japanese foods particularly stir-fried noodles, rice bowls, and ramen. I knew I had to get one of each, so I tried their: - Combination Spicy Yakiudon: beef, chicken, and shrimp mixed in with thick, chewy noodles. This is a dish that's more tangy and light in flavor. I would have liked the noodles to have been sauced more, but that's just personal preference. ($13.95) - 3.5/5 - Tonkotsu Ramen: miso-based pork broth with chashu (pork), ajitama egg, corn, scallion. A good item to get if you want something more rich. If you're in the mood for ramen near the campus area, this wouldn't be a bad choice. ($12.75) - 3.75/5 - Braised Pork Rice Bowl: probably my favorite of the dishes. This came with a lot of meat, was pretty flavorful, tender, and filling! Def get this. ($11.95) - 4/5 - Pork Gyoza: this came with 6 pieces and was pan-fried. A classic and you can't go wrong with this if you need an appetizer beforehand. ($6.45) - 3.75/5 - Mochi Ice Cream: I got the matcha and mango flavors. A great way to end a hearty meal. ($3 for 2) - 4/5 Overall, I had a good time here. There's a wide array of options to choose from and the portions are filling. With that said, I give them a 3.5/5 for being a good spot to try out near the campus area.

Jalapeno Chicken Bowl with Pork Dumpling (fried)
Moo Sun K.

Decent ramen and rice bowl place. Went there like twice, food was pretty pricey (a main dish and a plate of dumplings put me back by like twenty bucks), but it's worth the price if you want ramen and rice bowls around here. Will come again soon for the yakisoba and seafood ramen.

Kimchi Ramen
Melinda N.

I did take out for ramen because it was especially cold. I work on 18th and colorado so it's a 7 minute walk. The online and calling order process is pretty straightforward. I thought my ramen was ok. I order the kimchi ramen and didn't see any kimchi and only a faint taste/scent in the broth. If anything it smelled more porky due to the 3 pieces of pork provided. I haven't had ramen that had such a strong smell of pork. I liked the to-go packaging. i would try their other dishes but it's a Chinese restaurant looking to satisfy everyone and so they can't do everything well, just good enough. It was $12 for a bowl, which is a good price for lunch.

Chicken Katsu Ramen

First time eating here, I was enjoying the spicy chicken katsu (delicious) when I ate something crunchy. I took a second slurp and a thorn of some sort poked the back of my throat. I spit it out and could not break it with my hands. Unsure what this object is. The owner needs to contact me immediately.

This restaurant gave me such strange vibes. I felt like I was in a video game at night and kept getting the feeling that I was dissociating from reality. I came on a Wednesday night, and there were people inside, but it was very quiet with extremely eerie, ethereal music playing very softly. I felt oddly depressed and unsettled inside the restaurant. I had the chicken katsu rice bowl. The chicken was good, but the sauce had a bad taste, and the broccoli was very hard and bitter. The food was brought out very quickly, which was nice. I felt relieved to finally get a breath of fresh air outside after leaving the stifling atmosphere of the restaurant.

Braised Pork Rice Bowl

Rice bowl was delicious! The kimchi was some of the best I've had in Austin, great music too!! Thank you!

Katsu bento
Isabel L.

Taste and quality are extremely mediocre but the food comes out quickly and prices are relatively low. I tried the braised pork rice bowl, katsu bento, and pork dumplings. Flavor of braised pork bowl was pretty good, but some of the meat was kind of tough- probably from being cooked and reheated several times over. There was a small pool of oil beneath my rice, which was not very appealing. I have nothing to say about the katsu- it was just okay. The pork dumplings were not very good at all. They're fried, seemingly deep fried because strangely, the entire dumpling was fried rather than just the bottom. You can get frozen dumplings just as good from Costco or maybe even Wal-mart.

Braised pork Rice
Jamie L.

The restaurant is cozy and cute on the inside but the food is super mediocre. Don't expect too much because it's like food that you can make at home by yourself and after coming here once I don't think I'd come back again. I ordered the braised pork rice and got a bowl of mostly rice and only 3 broccolis and two thin slices of cucumber. For what I paid I could've gotten a lot more somewhere else. Nothing special about the taste and I really just enjoyed the atmosphere. I would recommend going somewhere else for asian food. Service is fast though, so that was a plus.

BOOZY HIBI-GIBI PUNCH Sake, sweet hibiscus tea & lemongrass…read more Who knew sake would match so well with hibiscus tea. It's ligh and refreshing, a great drink to start the meal. MI-SO-HOT Spicy pork bone broth with miso. I opted for the keto version and replaced the noodles with bean sprouts. This was my favorite dish! The broth was rich and flavorful, although it was a little too salty for my taste. CHILI OIL GYOZA jalapeño ,soy sauce, chili oil, shallots, negi, cilantro & spicy garlic furikake. They were so nice to give these to me for free! The gyoza was flavorful, but there were almost too many flavors going on, the soy sauce, chili oil and furikake somewhat overpowered the taste of the gyoza itself. Also a little salty for me. Overall, a great dining experience. It's a cute Japanese restaurant with lots of fun Japanese displays and a lively atmosphere. The staff were especially friendly and welcoming. I always leave feeling fat ugly after eating a bowl of ramen here. Two years ago I had eaten here and the Brussel sprouts were so burnt it cause my stomach to get upset and I threw up in the parking lot. That had traumatize me to not return for a while. This return was for my friend's birthday. She wanted to eat here for her birthday so I came to celebrate her! What I ordered: * Korokkaaayyy- 1/5: I've had these in japan and I felt like this one is very different. The meat is shredded and there's hardly any potatoes. I feel like the meat and potato ratio is very off. The sauce that it's serve with is super sour and off balance. Not a fan. * sweet and sour yodas - 5/5: addictingly good! I was a bit scared to eat these brussel sprouts but they were cooked perfectly. They were not burnt and I am happy I gave them a try. It was the best dish out of everything I had. * the OG ramen: 3/5: decent ramen but not the best one I've ever had. The pork was tender and the egg was cooked perfectly. The broth is rich and got a bit heavy after multiple bites. The noodle wasn't bouncy and seems a bit over. Service: I am not a fan of main entrees coming out before appetizers and that is exactly what happened. Our ramen came out first before our appetizers which should never happen at a restaurant. For that I deducted a star. Do I recommend this place? This place may not be for me but I think it might be for others. It's a popular place in Austin. Personally, my stomach can't handle the rich heaviness of the broth and I personally don't like to come out feeling fat ugly when I am not. I do however like the sweet and sour yodas dish but pray they are consistent with the cookery of the brussel sprout so no one else vomit in the parking lot after eating them. I'm a bit traumatized still.

Started with the Barbacoa dumplings....ummmm amazing, soooo flavorful. Next up was the Brussels sprouts and y'all those left with the bowl empty. The only rec I gave Austyn was to tell peeps to stir them to get all the sauce goodness mixed in. Didn't realize there was a sauce until the end soooo that would have probably made me lick the bowl! Also got the Toro fig and I'm not gonna lie I was shocked. Never thought pairing fig with tuna would be good, again rec I gave was to give a spoon so you could sip all that sauce goodness!!! Last on my dining journey was the Prime Market Nigiri Moriawase. This was the chefs choice of five nigiri pieces and they again were delicious. The downside was the omakase was for 2 people, portion size sooo I need to find a plus one, any takers?! I'd go back to try other items and get a few of the same.

Somehow, against all odds, Ramen Del Barrio still exceeds its reputation. There's only one vegan ramen option but it's all you need, both in terms of portion size and flavor. I've never had anything quite like the mole tsukemen, a Tex-Mex mashup pairing rich mole broth served separately from handmade noodles so thick, you might mistake them for udon at a glance. Simple toppings of fried tortilla strips, avocado, charred jalapeno, and caramelized onions adorn the top. Before this moment, I thought I just wasn't a fan of mole. It turns out, I had never tried great mole before. This stuff dazzles with layered spices, melded so well that I can't pick a single one out from the pack. It's not overwhelmingly hot, but definitely leaves your lips tingling. We got one Austin roll ($22), volcano roll ($15), creamy spicy tan tan ramen ($20), teriyaki sesame tofu yakisoba ($20). I have had their sushi and yakisoba but tried their ramen for first time. I was impressed with their packaging. As you can see in picture, veggies and noodles box was on top and soup at bottom. The only thing I didn't like how noodles became very sticky because of how tight they were packed. So I got it as cold (because I live 30 mins away) and sticky. Ramen came with all the veggies like grilled Chinese broccoli, tofu, sweet corn, marinated shiitake mushrooms, red onions and negi. Yakisoba noodles had the Stir-fried noodles tossed with cabbage, scallion, carrot, marinated shiitake mushrooms, and fragrant negi in a savory house sauce. It was good if you like this type of noodles. Austin roll had Smoked tempeh, tempura tofu, jalapeño, pickles. And on the to Avocado, roasted garlic oil, tempura flakes, smoked paprika, teriyaki. Volcano roll was a deep fried roll which had spinach, avocado, sweet potato. On top: spicy mayo, sweet soy sauce, chili sauce, Caviart and tempura onion.
