I am so happy to have something relatively close to us for breakfast and that I never really have to wait that long. We have come here many times because it's close to my yoga studio and are always impressed with the service and quality of food. We love the south side walnut cafe for their "Boulder Fare" and "Fancy Sandwiches" but my favorite is their delicious coffee drinks. My favorite is the Walnutty Latte! read more

Very delicious and unique menu items to be found here!! Tucked into a strip mall this little cafe is a colorful and cheery dining establishment with yummy food. They are very family friendly offering high chairs, boosters, crayons & paper and even have a toy bucket in the waiting area for kids to play with. Including a kids menu too which is great! I loved their coffee options - the walnutty latte I ordered was super scrumptious with ever sip. I did NOT want that drink to end !! Not too sweet, but with all the right flavors I really loved it. Though I wasn't feeling eggs when we went and opted for some breaded goodness and potatoes, my husband got an omlette that he said was tasty. The pancakes he got as a side were hearty and perfectly syrup absorbing. I tried out their blueberry cornbread and it was moist, which is fabulous since I really don't like dry crumbling cornbread. Though a little messy, its all in the good way and I could get butter on it before it coming apart so win win!! And that is another nice detail about this place, they have those little pads of butter when you need butter with ALL THE THINGS :) but its softened !!! what a relief, because one of my pet peeves is cold butter and then you spend a lot of time breaking whatever breaded item you are trying to use it on..... Overall, really great first time experience and its on our list to return to for sure. Terrible awful service. Great food. I have come here twice because they offer gluten free French toast and pancakes. Both are amazingly delicious. The pancakes are super fluffy and fat, with just a very slight crunch on the outside. Toast slices are on the smaller side (as most gf bread is) but taste amazing no matter the topping. I asked about eggs being safe to eat but the waitress simply said they were cooked on another side of the grill so I didn't take the chance. Didn't get sick from the toast and pancakes though! The service now.... holy criminey the girl brought us our checks not even halfway through with our meals! It must have been 3 or 4 minutes after serving us! Then she stands there waiting for me to sign and tip while my friends continue to eat with her right there. On top of it all, the very lowest suggested tip amount was 18%, going all the way up to 25%. REALLY? You think you're getting 25% acting like that? On top of it we finished eating and were talking and the waitress came back again TO ASK IF WE WANTED THE CHECK!!! I curtly responded that we were given the check halfway through our meal and are just talking now, but thanks for checking to see if we needed anything else. -_- Ooohhhh I was mad. Seriously guys. Get your service together. I love the food but I'm not coming back if this is how you treat customers. read more

Visited this place on Martin Luther Kings day around 9am. It was crowded but we were seated right away given their was couple of tables left. The service was super friendly. I went with the skip scramble. It was good liked the combination of the cheese and the veggie sausages. Although felt the egg portion relative to the other ingredients was a bit small. I also choose the banana nut bread and the cornbread as my two sides. The banana nut bread was just ok and I won't recommend it if you want something sweet. The blueberry cornbread was tasty. My wife went with the omelette where you basically choose what ingredients to have. She seemed to like it. Loved checking out this place in town! The coffee here is a little stronger than I'm used to and has a slightly stronger after taste, so I definitely need that cream or milk with it. A friend and I split the breakfast burrito with black beans and both red and green sauce and the blueberry cornbread pancakes. Both were really great! The combination of sauces on the breakfast burrito worked well. I felt like the olives were a little extraneous on the plate but all the flavors of the burrito itself were really good. The blueberry cornbread pancakes were soft and fluffy with a cornbread like crunch on the bottom of the pancake. We had some leftovers of this and while most pancakes don't necessarily keep really well as leftovers--these stayed fluffy and not rubbery the next day! read more

Really disappointed. I ordered Huevos Rancheros and my wife ordered an omelette. The huevos were very wet and bland. The potatoes I got with them were undercooked and bland. My wife requested ketchup for her eggs and jam for an English muffin and neither were included. She said the omelette itself was decent but the muffin was rubbery. I really want to support a small business, but I feel the food would have been better and cheaper at Starbucks down the street. read more

Solid place for breakfast and lunch. Seems like reasonable pricing. Always have had good service, seating is expanded for covid, and they seem to be taking all the proper precautions. Try the club sandwich, it's your classic 3 layer sandwich, always solid! Great for vegetarians as well! read more

Cute cafe, especially if you sit in the outdoor nook on the side of the building. The banana walnut & choc. chip belgian waffle was delish but my omelette was a miss. I ordered that day's special which featured avocado, jalapenos, bacon, mushrooms, etc. I am a huge egg scramble/omelette lover so I was so excited! To my disappointment, the omelette did not feature fresh produce, instead it was packed with guac and canned jalapenos. I took one bite and donated the dish to my boyfriend - he'll eat almost anything. All in all, decent breakfast/brunch at reasonable prices. Next time I'd ask the waiters about the ingredients/type of prep of the dish I was ordering and wouldn't assume that it would start with raw veggies. read more

I used to love the walnut cafe - it was our go to spot but today felt really different. Location was on walnut not Broadway. Felt really ripped off by the server who charged us at least $6-10 more than we were supposed to be charged and made a ton of mistakes with our order. Food was less than desirable and really expensive. I told the server about the mistake and she said she told us ahead of time but my kids said she never did and I didn't hear her either. I say, slow down ya'll and pay attention to who you are serving. It might get you a better tip in the future. read more

Pretty solid. Great people serving here. They take good care of you. The whole experience was very happy. The espresso drinks are solid but nothing jaw dropping. If you are into sugary drinks you'll really like it. They've got crazy flavors. The food is quality. Very flavorful and a very good quantity for the price. One thing you may want to ask for is low oil. On some items they use a lot. I would definitely go back. read more

Visiting friends nearby, ate at the South Side Walnut cafe twice. Both times, the food was good, the service though was terrible. Attitude from two different servers was over the top. Coming from Boston, we're used to attitude, expected Boulder to be more chill. read more

I love this place! Our waitress was so cheerful and sweet on a Sunday morning, which was a nice difference from other restaurants we've been to in Boulder. For starters, I ordered the Oregon chai with almond milk! It was delicious and it was nice not having to go to a coffee spot to get it. For the food, I ordered over medium eggs and bacon with gluten free pancakes. It was yummy! I am highly impressed! Love love love. Boisterous, casual patio back lit by the mountains, bathed in morning sunlight as it filters through the multicolored canvas umbrellas, painting the tables, ground and smiling faces. A double garage door is open to the eclectic friendly environment within that is buzzing with purposeful activity. The staff is attentive, hip, friendly, and very efficient. Inside you dine with no separation from the kitchen. You feel at home; in the middle of the action. Plenty of good vegetarian/vegan options. The food arrives so quickly. Delicious green chili salsa. Blueberry cornbread! The mocha latte was made iced with rice milk and no whip at my request. It arrived sublime. Subtle, yet hearty espresso notes blended seamlessly with delicate but delicious cocoa. Refreshing, delicious and not harsh or hard on your stomach. It's not my favorite brunch joint in the country, but it is most definitely my favorite in Boulder. Awesome espresso menu! I love Dana D's Vanilla Blast (you can get it hot!) and the Carmelita Latte. My go-to brunch order is the Tempeh Skillet with spinach instead of mushrooms, and I always upgrade my side to a slice o' pumpkin pie. If I'm not making a big brunch at home, my girlfriends and I are probably here... and I'm chowing down on that combo. The quiche of the day is also always delicious and the Big Dill Eggs are fabulous, too. I love the atmosphere at South Side and service seems to always be on par. Definitely find me there. read more

We went here twice in a day, so that should tell you something. Food was excellent overall. From our breakfast the standouts were the eggs, huevos rancheros, yogurt with granola, and the blueberry cornbread. For lunch the Yo Yo was okay to me, but my lady liked it. The BLT was one of the better ones I've had, and the gluten free bread was very tasty. Service was good, and the waitress seemed extra friendly with the regulars. I wish I could be one too because I would visit this place regularly if I lived around here. read more

Their South Side omelette is pretty good and their coffee was decent, but I have to say this was not all it was hyped up to be. The menu itself was pretty sparse and the food is average. The cornbread was a bit dry, but the blueberry flavor helped. I would have given them four stars, but I can get better tasting and looking bacon at Natural Grocers. And to me, if you can't pull of decent bacon at a breakfast place you can't have the extra star. The service was good but not really great. I tried this place twice and will be moving on to find some place better. read more

This breakfast place has great food, service, and space. I had the eggs and bacon with breakfast potatoes and fresh fruit. Everything was good, especially the bacon and potatoes. The potatoes have a sort of Cajun-type seasoning and were awesome. My friend got a waffle and loved it. We also had coffees, and the coffee was some of the best I've had at a diner. The space is cool, too. It has a fun vibe. There's a good amount of room and outdoor seating. They have a cafe bar as well, and you can get a bunch of coffee/espresso drinks. Awesome staff, never a wait on weekdays, always a quick wait on busy weekends. Great service, amazing coffee bar selection. Food comes very fast and it's always delicious. I have to say I was so satisfied with this little cafe. I lived in Boulder from 89-92 and this place felt like the old Boulder town I knew. Seemed like all the servers were hikers and climbers and had that laid back Boulder attitude that adds joy to my meal. Food was great with gluten free options. read more

Wonderful service. Our waitress was very accommodating with changing orders etc. They have a coffee bar that is great too! My one problem was that the potatoes seemed undercooked. As I was going to leave, he mockingly asked if I changed my mind and wanted another. Or, after talking about how he has this roommate who only likes chicken fingers to other customers with disdain for said roommate's unrefined palate, told me he could instead get me some chicken fingers from the back while literally cackling AT me.... ?! Excuse me? So, I won't say how I responded, but it was appropriate and I immediately walked out, and I don't know how it could ever be made up to me to walk back in... Mocking a Black woman to her face and asking her if she wants some fried chicken from the back?! Wtf!!! I have had fine dining experiences all over the world certainly all over the state and the only other time I've experienced more egregious treatment was in Aspen: which I expect. To be clear, I have eaten at this location on more occasions than I can count as I have already expressed; that includes the front deli as well as the main dining room and at the bar. This assumption about my palate if meant innocently (it wasn't, the other bar patrons and bartender were visibly horrified!) was in poor taste at best. At worst, well... So get it together, Black Belly management. I also heard that your bartenders don't need to go to meetings? Maybe they should at the very least receive a little bit more training on basic professionalism! The food here is excellent.
