Checked out Alpine Modern Café in Boulder to get some studying done and treat myself to a little afternoon pick-me-up. First impression walking in, really nice and clean modernized cafe. Their food is a tad on the expensive side, but the quality and vibe justified trying it out. I tried their raspberry cheese danish, which was super flaky and buttery with a tasty raspberry filling. They heated it up for me, which made it even better. It was warm and crisp on the outside, soft and slightly tangy in the center. I also ordered the hibiscus lemonade tea, which was nicely tart, refreshing, and not overly sweet. I'd definitely get that again. Service was really friendly and welcoming. The staff were kind and efficient despite it being busy. Ambiance-wise, it's a great study spot overall. It does get crowded, so tables (especially ones near outlets) can be hard to snag. The background music can be a bit loud at times, but with headphones in, it was totally manageable. Overall, a great place to grab a pastry and drink while getting some work done. read more

A nice second location in an easy to access shopping center, the south end of Twenty Ninth St. parking is easy in the lot so we combined two stops, a lunch at Alpine Moderna and pick up order at Staples. We often use the original Alpine Modern on the Hill but this is the same menu but sometimes more convenient when we'd rather not walk or have other business at Twenty Ninth St. Sadly when we arrived and I tried to order my favorite of their toasts (Blueberry Ricotta with spicy honey and almonds) it had been discontinued the day before after many years! I was so sad but I ordered the classic Avocado and it was fine. I hope they bring the Blueberry Ricotta back for summer. My husband had the classic smoked salmon. Maybe next time I will try that. He had a mocha and I had iced tea. Their drinks are always good and they have a few holiday flavors right now. Sadly, their pastry selections are not as wide as in the past. But service is good, the seating is clean and comfortable. We'll use this location when in the area or in bad weather. read more

This place is a must visit. We stopped here after a long hike and it was the perfect stop. I had the burrata toast - I will be thinking about this for a long time. My husband had the steak and egg sandwich.. I don't think you can go wrong with any menu item. We topped it off with a Carmel latte and my husband had an iced matcha. The drinks were some of the best in the area. I will be back if we visit the area again. read more

I really wanted to love this place. We chose Alpine Modern over the Potbelly right next door because a couple menu items looked good. It also looked very clean and friendly inside. Unfortunately, we walked away disappointed. My wife ordered the Turkey & Avocado sandwich and I had the Smoked Salmon & Avocado Sandwich with Brie. Both tasted good, but there wasn't much to them. I'd be surprised if either sandwich had 3oz of protein. In fact, the smoked salmon consisted of one (1) thin transparent slice per half. The turkey sandwich had three (3) slices of processed meat. The avocado mash and Brie were also thin layers. I guess if you like fresh arugula and toasted bread, then this is your place. Considering the amount they charge for these sandwiches, I suppose I was just hoping for more. Perhaps, their coffee and breakfast items are better? Next time I'm craving a sandwich, I think I'll try Potbelly. read more

'Tis the season... of pumpkin spice latte! We are traveling in Colorado this weekend and I was curious to see what sort of PSL yummies were in store. We stopped at alpine modern cafe, a cute little shop in what seemed to be an outdoor shopping center. I ordered the pumpkin spice latte which came with honey and cinnamon for a special twists. I require a dairy free milk and they had macadamia nut milk! It was so creamy and sweet. A lovely flavor addition to my latte. customer service was great and I saw many patrons with their lap tops working. read more

This is my favorite coffee spot in Boulder. Their coffee is top-notch and it's also a great place to bring your laptop and work for a bit. Plenty of outlets around for charging, but not the most comfortable seats (if you stay for longer than an hour your butt WILL be numb ). I haven't been blown away by their sandwiches any of the times I've had them, but the coffee more than makes up for it. I highly recommend trying an oat milk mocha with lavender. They do just the right balance of flavors with it. If that's not your thing, their hazelnut latte is also fantastic. And another nice thing is that it's in walking distance to several other restaurants & eateries on the shopping center, so if you need to switch things up or want something a bit more hearty, you're in a great spot to do so. read more

Alpine Modern is my go-to for good coffee in Boulder, CO. In my personal experience, the food has been hit-or-miss. Some dishes leave me wanting more (food, seasoning, warmth, moisture, etc) while others hit the spot with no room for improvement (looking at you, Blueberry Ricotta Tartine). My favorite location is the one near the Hill, but the one in the 28th street mall is the Corporate Older Sister which is nice for meeting larger groups. read more

Stopped here on a Sunday morning around 10:30a. A bit short staffed but able to really deliver. I had the Barrata toast which turned out excellent. My wife had the breakfast croissant with an avocado. It was really good. The croissant was crispy and flaky on the outside and delicious on the inside. Also had the chai with almond milk. Asked for it to be medium spice, which seemed perfect to me. Atmosphere was light, cheery and welcoming, but it had a modern vibe which was nice. Good place. When I visit a coffee shop for the first time, a house drip coffee or espresso indicates the quality of the bean and how well it can be crafted by a barista. I don't know how but I received a burnt, yet watery drip coffee. I expected a slightly pretentious barista, but to gate keep honey initially and then overpour when I asked for a tinge more was just petty. Go to Alpine Modern @ 29th for the haughty vibe and mid snacks. Avoid otherwise, OR grab a coffee elsewhere and sit outside for the Flatirons view! read more

5 stars for the smoked salmon and avocado sandwich and 1 star for the classic avocado tartine. The sandwich not only tasted so much better, it was also way more bang for your buck. The tartine was underwhelming and the soft boiled egg was meh. For $10, two small pieces is overpriced. read more

It pains me to leave such a low star review but when I visited Alpine on 29th St. the other day, I was approached multiple times by a rather heavy set individual with a handkerchief and nose ring who promptly asked me if I was spending money and also forced me to move tables, even though the restaurant was completely empty. Not only that, but when I went up to order my avocado toast, I apologized to the cashier in case I caused any issues and it was clear they had been talking about me behind the counter. This was evident from her cold and unwelcoming demeanor and the up-down i received. The fact that they were all giving me dirty looks for the rest of the time I was there made me extremely uncomfortable. i'm disappointed that I was treated this way while there were other customers who hadn't bought anything and had been there longer than I had. In fact, the girl sitting next to me told me how uncalled for the employees behavior was. I frequently attend the Alpine modern on the hill and they know me by name so to have this experience is really a shame. just a warning if you're looking for a space to go and work with good energy and a calm environment, this is NOT the place!!! Go to Alpine on the hill because the baristas are kind, caring, and provide a good guest experience . I WILL NEVER COME BACK!!! read more

The building is cute, menu looked wonderful, seems like a really nice place to study, but the baristas were mean and weird. I walked in with my husband to order a cold brew and a hot latte, and originally some food, but the staff was so off putting that we didn't want to sit around. I walked up to the register after the customer ahead of me and the cashier immediately ignored my "Hi!" and stepped away to do something. Okay, I don't mind waiting, we just got there. Then another cashier walks up, stands at the register on his phone for 30 seconds while we stare awkwardly, not wanting to interrupt. Finally my partner asks "Hey, how you doin today?" because the silence is so painful, and the cashier finally makes eye contact for a moment before returning to absolute awkward silence for a full minute. I eventually just blurted out our order, it was weird, the cashier chuckled at me, I hated the entire thing. It felt weird and mean. I'm a barista. I'm all about making rude customers feel weird. Don't go into a business and be rude. But we were literally in there long enough for me to say "oh they have cold brew!" and then step up to the counter after the previous customer was done. And on the subject of coffee, the milk was burnt in his latte and my "cold brew" tasted like it had either been sitting for too long or was hot coffee cooled down. We didn't get to try the food, unfortunately, because the thought of interrupting any 4 of the baristas' conversations for another awkward stand down was too much for 10am. read more
