I've been to both this location and the one near Walnut, and both places are great! Last time I went I had the granola pancakes and the Boulder latte, which were both amazing. The service was also great, and our server was super helpful and made sure we were happy. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, especially the South Boulder location since its a little easier to get to/ not as much traffic as the downtown location. read more

Our first time here. Great service and delicious food. I had the green chile , tomato, toasted cheese sandwich with their breakfast potatoes. Yummy. Huge portions. read more

We live locally and have been going to both locations for over a decade, maybe two. The menu hasn't changed in years. And sad to say the last few years the food is nothing to be excited about. Last time we were there recently got a dish that had about an inch deep of what seemed like tomato paste sitting on top of an egg. We would love to see our local cafe get their groove back, revise the menu, take a look at what others are offering locally like Morning Glory. Keep the pies of course! read more

Great place, just ran in to grab coffee and a snack but the folks are friendly, fast, and wonderful. I'd go there again in a heartbeat.

The food here is very tasty and I have tried lots of dishes! This is a great neighborhood place to go with your kids. The waitstaff is friendly and accommodating. The background noise is pretty loud (too loud for my husband), but I don't mind and it makes for a festive atmosphere. Plan on a wait if you go during the weekend rush hours, but the food is worth the wait! read more

Great local place for breakfast. Sunday mornings are very popular.

Good lord this place is awesome. Great coffee, great service, food that stands out among all the other great places in town. Go there.

Huge fan of the South Side Walnut, rarely go anywhere else for breakfast out. I recommend the special on the weekend and starting with a piece of pie. It's the only way to go. The service rules and has been consistant for the 6 years I've been going there. read more

Seriously good breakfast! My two daughters loved scrambled brains toad in the hole, and I loved the special omellette.

Great staff and greater food. The breakfast burrito is delicious with perfect home made salsa. Very family friendly and a laid back atmosphere. We come to the south side every time we are in town and love it. read more

The food is good. The atmosphere is great! There's always local artists on display, families eating and having fun, and just general good vibes. The waitstaff was a huge plus to me as a baby gay in high school, and now it's just nice to see representation in a family-friendly fun place. :) Seriously my favorite breakfast place ever--it just makes me feel happy. read more

We went around lunchtime on a Sunday with a group of 8 with kids and adults. The menu had plenty to choose from and all of the prices were very reasonable. I had the Eggs Marcos which was fantastic. The staff was friendly and attentive and we all left with smiles on our faces. I can definitely recommend the Southside Walnut Cafe! read more

South Side is my go-to breakfast/brunch spot. Even when there is a line out the door they seem to get you seated quickly. Their servers are always energetic and outgoing. I recommend always checking the specials menu, they have a variety of delicious options which changes daily. If you don't get one of the specials be sure to try their coffee cake or the fish tacos for lunch. If you go on Tuesdays they give you a free cupcake! read more

Really nice place, good food and service for breakfast.

This is easily the best place in Boulder for breakfast, awesome staff with big smiles and the food is yum, yum, yummy.

Best brunch in Boulder!! Great for families, excellent food, and a fun atmosphere. Friendliest staff of any restaurant I've ever visited.

Five of us stopped in after a morning hike and were pleased to find such a nice breakfast/lunch spot with outdoor seating. Got seated right away, staff was very welcoming. Our group enjoyed the 1) special skillet (tasty, enough for two with pancakes) 2) fish tacos 3) zesty chicken sandwich ("loved it!) 4) quiche ( really delicious and fresh tasting!) read more

I'll jump on the trend: "Five stars for 1) great service 2) coffee and tea options 3) gluten free options 4) reasonable prices 5) and there was no wait!" One of the things I like about both Walnut Cafe locations is that the staff actually seem to like the business. I've been to so many diners where the staff hate the managers/owners, and it can put a damper on what would otherwise be a good meal. read more

Staff were very nice, service was good, but both my friend and I noticed a lot of butter on the bread of our sandwiches. I want to eat food that will be consistent with good health. You can include oils, but healthy ones, like olive, or avocado. Polyunsaturated or monounsaturated fats are OK, not saturated ones. read more

Outstanding breakfast items and the servers were all super friendly. I will definitely go there again!

We have been going to the South Side for office lunches for a while now. We really enjoy the food. The service is good too. I would recommend it! read more

We love this place, have been going for almost 8 years, and just tried an alternative establishment this morning closer to our hood...huge mistake, but compells me to write about the places we love! Friendly staff, fresh hot food, good coffee, fast service. This place is dialed. If you're lucky, the coffee cake table provides a nice sweet surprise! Will be making the extra journey to get here moving forward! Never disappoints! read more

Good coffee, friendly service, and good food. Great south Boulder location. I had the breakfast burrito and my friend got the pancakes, honestly the pancakes looked better. I would have liked more bacon less roasted pepper salsa. Just saying... read more

I usually love this place but I recently went and ordered an omelet with their soy cheese option. They brought me an omelette with the normal cheddar (which usually happens) so I asked for it to be remade. They then brought me out a completely different dish. By the time they brought out my meal my company had finished eating and what they brought me was less of an omelette and more of an egg covered in unmelted cheese. Very disappointing experience. read more

What a great place! Especially their Mexican food...incredible! AND, they don't balk if you want to substitute items; last time I was there, I asked if they had any hotter salsa, and the waitress went back and got it for me, and told me, "this is what the cooks make for themselves." It was phenomenal! And, as a single guy, I really appreciate the counter! Plus, the staff treats me like anybody else. I have rarely been able to finish a plate of food there, their portions are generous to a fault! Plus, Julia, Nicole, and others actually make it a point to introduce themselves and gladly ensue in conversation if they aren't too busy. This makes a huge difference in my day! read more

This place has become my restaurant of choice for my weekend breakfast. The service is great and the food is to die for. Thank you for my love handles and double chin! read more

My favorite place for brunch in Boulder! Southside Walnut has a great Boulder vibe and personable feel (for example their menus feature pictures of their guests). The food is consistently delicious. Service is generally quick and friendly, despite the fact that it is usually packed (I suggest going during the week or earlier on the weekends to avoid a long wait). I would recommend the omelets with a biscuit on the side! Yum read more

This breakfast joint is excellent. I had the daily scramble special with gluten free pancakes. Quick and excellent service, and my server was so nice. read more

Reviewed for extremely poor service (I did not eat here) - Actually, I was not given the opportunity to eat here. Walked in at 7:45 on a Saturday morning; place was about 30-40% capacity. I dining solo and was greeted and seated in a timely manner....but that's where service ended. I sat for 5-6minutes without any attention from staff. Three different staff members passed by and did not ask if I wanted coffee, had any questions about the menu, or anything. Unbelievable. I simply got up and left; don't want to dine at a place that doesn't see me to care about patrons. read more

Our waitress Zuri was AMAZING. This is my first time in Colorado, our Uber driver recommended this restaurant and we were not disappointed! Amazing food, fantastic coffee, and the most awesome person in the world Zuri who must win the employee contest read more

Stopped here one afternoon and was craving breakfast, so I ordered the waffle w/ fruit. The waffle was cake like in consistency, and a bit dry. Nothing special. The BF had a hamburger that he said was horrible - could've got a better burger at Wendy's. Service was bad, even though we were one of about 5 tables occupied on the inside. Waitress took our order, dropped off our food and never saw her again. The one star is for the food though, not the service. read more

Love the fact that there is breakfast all day. The specials are always great to try. The service is knowledgable and quick. Great choice for south side dining. read more

Perfectly fine diner-style breakfast food at rather absurd prices for this market. It's near my home, and I would love to have it as my go-to breakfast spot, if it weren't so darned overpriced. Their servers are friendly and the atmosphere is nice. The food is good, but really not worth writing home about; I don't understand the hype. Some menu items are inventive, but most are very typical diner fare. I take my coffee black, and I've never found theirs to be particularly good. I recently ordered a [perfectly fine, but not remotely thrilling] egg sandwich to go, and it was $7.25 before tax! You can get a gourmet egg sandwich at a nice restaurant in a major city for less than that; charging that much for two scrambled eggs on toast in Boulder is a crime. I can't imagine that rents in that South Boulder plaza are as high as those downtown, yet SSWC's breakfast prices are similar to (if not higher than!) those on brunch menus at higher end restaurants on Pearl/Walnut. I'm happy to pay a premium for good food when it's warranted, but I think that the price points at this establishment are entirely out of sync with the offerings. tl;dr: Overall, I'd like this place better if the prices dropped by 20-30%, which would seem more suitable given the menu items and quality. read more

Ok, so I see all of these rave reviews but I don't think it's very good at all. Yes, the waitresses are great and service fast but the food is, well, meh. Every single time my eggs are greasy as in oil grease and practically tasteless. How do you mess up plain scrambled eggs? The menu is a throwback to bad food days - who wants cream cheese in their eggs? There are so many good breakfast places - Lucille's, Snooze, Tangerine, heck - I even love The Egg & I. At least they do plain eggs well and have some traditional items like Huevos, eggs benedict on their menu. Alas, I live here and my kids like it so I am forced to go but oh, how I wish there was a local alternative. read more

Love this place! I always get the South Side special because it is that good! Hubby always gets the breakfast burrito because it's that good! Fast service, good food, and priced just right. Will be returning again and again...maybe ordering something different next time...maybe not! read more

Love this place in every way. The food and location and community. Consistently good over many years. Highly recommend.

We are visiting from Houston which has many restaurants. This restaurant had the best service of any Boulder restaurant that we have been. The waiter did a great job of monitoring our table. He explained the dairy free choices to my stepson who has to be diligent with his diet. I loved the blue oatmeal. Even though the restaurant was busy, they found a table for us very quickly. This restaurant definitely had their act together. Kudos to management. read more

My family and I have come here pretty regularly for the past three years. Between us we've had just about everything on the menu. It's all delicious and the staff here is amazing and kind every time. read more
