I like this place the coffee and treats are solid. But mostly I love the vibe. The employees are really kind and do a good job.

This little coffee shop is in a small strip shopping center, conveniently at the northwest corner of Arapahoe Avenue and 28th Street. We were foiled in our attempt to get coffee at The Dairy Center, but this spot was quite close. The shop is a bit crowded with lots of round tables and a small amount of counter seating facing the outside windows. There's a wall of bookshelves stocked with reading material. There's also some outside seating. The staff was friendly, but it seemed to take an extremely long time to make my girlfriend's latte. We were both tired and a bit cranky, so perhaps we were impatient. It actually took about six minutes to make that one drink, after checking my notes. Hmmm. I don't know what they do when they get busy. My girlfriend reported that her latte was fine, so I guess that's the conclusion. Pretty average. read more

Nestled in a little stip mall, the name couldn't be more true. Flatiron Coffee gifts you an exquisite view of the Boulder Flatirons! To me, this screams "coffee house" as opposed to a coffee shop. It reminds me of the tried and true neighborhood meet up spots for conversation, reading, and enjoying a good cup of coffee. I've popped in here numerous times over the years. Mostly for a to-go caffeine jolt before heading back to Denver. Coffee has always been solid, with an extensive menu of unique drinks. What a cute coffee shop with some amazing views of Boulder's mountains. I also really like that there was a decent size parking lot in the front and more parking in the back if needed. There were so many different types of drinks and a few tea options as well. I eventually went with an Iced caramel crunch and while there was no crunch, it was a really good iced coffee beverage to get me energized. While waiting, I came across a row of 4 chairs that featured breathtaking views. There's a good bit of seating outside and inside as well. I don't live in Boulder, but when I make the trip I love to stop for my coffee. Flat Irons represents the best of local, cozy coffee. They kept me in cold brew during the pandemic with jugs of the best tasting elixir I've experienced. Staff are knowledgeable and helpful recommending the "light roast" which oddly contains more of my spirit chemical, caffeine, than regular. Opted for reg, but will keep in mind when needed. Seats are always filled with happy sippers including a few tables outside weather permitting. Hell, it's Boulder, there's always someone outside. They serve a rich full bodied coffee you'll return for; I know I do. read more

I went here while visiting Boulder! It was a short walking distance from the Marriott Boulder and we met a group of people here the morning after a wedding! The space was your average coffee shop size, but we were able to find a space for our large group! They also did have some outdoor seating and tables if that's your style! The baristas answered questions and were great about making sure we got what we would enjoy. I ordered an iced caramel crunch latte and it was delicious! Not too sweet but a nice caramel flavor. I'm not a big coffee snob, so if they have a good iced latte I'm happy! My husband and I also ordered some breakfast sandwiches. They looked like they were premade and reheated but when we ate them I wouldn't have known it was premade! They were nice and hot and tasted fresh! They also had an assortment of pasties and vegetarian options too. I'm not sure about gluten free/vegan, but I know the staff would be happy to let you know if asked! Visiting here was a nice bookend to my Boulder visit on MLK Jr Day. I have memories of this place from when I was a Boulder resident. I would usually get coffees to go. On one occasion, I had a business meeting for a job that I just started at the time. I met one of my future team members. I had a nice first impression of this person. We had coffee here while discussing various details of the job. On another occasion, I went here with a friend, after returning from moving to another state. This place holds special memories for me. It's a very convenient location to meet a friend, have a quick business meeting or study for school. Their coffee isn't bad. I ordered a decaf Americano for this visit. I didn't need any cream or sweetener for my coffee. Good sign of a quality coffee! On this visit, I sat inside for a while to plan my trip home. It was ideal for that. Seating is sort of cramped here. Barista was friendly as well. Their prices are reasonable as well. I would definitely return here when visiting Boulder again, whenever that will be. read more

The staff was nice and friendly. My favorite part of my first visit to Flatiron Coffee. We were in the area and stopped in for coffee. I got their frozen cappuccino with a shot of nitro cold brew. It was a good blend of creaminess to coffee taste. I loved the bits of ice. It reminded me of a Slush Puppy from a convenience store or gas station. The associate at the register recommended their frozen cappuccino and with my addition of the nitro cold brew, it hit the spot! Flatiron coffee is amazing! I tried the crunchy ice cap which was great. I love how they have different variations of the Frappuccino blended drink. The crunchy ice cap was so good. It's a coffe, caramel and chocolate drink with whipped cream on top. I loved the crunchy texture and it was super refreshing. The service was quick and the shop is lively but not too loud and it's clean. Parking lot is tight and busy because of its location but I highly recommend this coffee shop. This place is a vibe! I was in Boulder for the morning and needed a place to work so I came here. The views are amazing and the staff is super nice. Quick service and I had a delicious iced matcha. They have bonfire breakfast burritos and also sandwiches/pastries. The only downside is that they only have 2 outlets. Luckily I was able to use one, but on busy days if you need to work from a coffee shop, I'd try a different one due to lack of outlets. Overall a good place for coffee and to hang out! We've been coming here for a few years now and love the seasonal specials. We just wish the menu placement for the specials was in a location where you can see it, before reaching the front of the line and pressed for time while ordering. My staple, when not choosing a seasonal option, is the honey pot. Always a safe choice. They used to have a menu for chocolate/cacao drinks that really made this place standout as being unique, but it suddenly disappeared. Adding coffee to the cacao drinks was a special treat that I wish hadn't gone away. Now the place feels similar to a lot of the other Boulder coffee shops. The patrons are the stereotypical Boulder-type you'd expect. A few students off studying to the sides, and pockets of Boulder locals that pretty much all look alike. The short-term, college student staff has always been super nice and welcoming. Just the longterm, barista-lifer has been hit or miss with an inconsistent personality. Not sure if she's a supervisor or the owner, but sometimes she seems like she's on the edge, from possibly pulling an all-nighter. If you get one of the students taking your order, you'll have no issues and will be glad you came, but the lifer makes it an unfortunate gamble. She comes across as incredibly fake, but you should probably already expect that in Boulder. However, it's definitely worth going in and attempting the seasonal coffee menu at least once! read more

I've passed by this place tons of times and never noticed it. I'm so glad I found it one day. I really love the honey pot latte (iced with oatmilk), but their whole lineup of espresso drinks looked good. This place is also a hotspot for laptop warriors. I was one of maybe 7-8 other people who were working from their tables. While the furniture and ambiance doesn't seem like a good co-working spot, there are outlets throughout and some strong WiFi. My only complaint is that I got the lemon loaf from the counter and it was very dry and didn't have much flavor. Perhaps some like it that way, but it certainly wasn't what I'd hoped for. read more

Was looking for the best gourmet coffee in area and based one Yelp reviews I had to try flatiron coffee. I had the iced coffee and my friend had hot coffee and it was fragrant smooth and most importantly not burnt. I would definitely come back and my friend enjoyed their baked goods (muffin). I had an initially good experience and would frequent studying there. The more I went, the more I realized how bad this establishment actually is. The place is extremely dirty and unmaintained. There is limited seating that is never clean, and all of their silverware and plates are old and unpleasant to eat from. I also overheard that there bugs in the food display case which is absolutely horrifying. The real reason I wanted to write this was because of the manager. She is incredibly rude to customers and staff. I have seen baristas crying from her unnecessary attitude on not one but two occasions, and a handful of confused customers when she gets annoyed that they don't understand the menu. Regardless of the quality of their coffee or ambience, I no longer could support a business run by that type of person. read more

I was the only customer in line. I heard yelling. The yelling was at me. "You must get out of line if you don't have your mask on." I put my mask on. She continued to yell. "Get out of line." I think is what she said. The noise was so loud with the machines, I asked for clarification. The other barista gave me permission to ignore the aggressive mask-requiring-barista. It was disturbing and mind-numbing. I have circled back several times to this disturbing and aggressive exchange. There are so many ways it could have been handled besides yelling at me to get out of line as she SAW I was complying by putting on the mask. So many other stores are mask free. Her aggression was unnecessary. The governor removed mandates awhile ago, however, mask-up and be brave if you want a coffee from here. None of us like to be yelled at....there are many other coffee making stores in Boulder. read more

Travel tip number two for my trip to Boulder. If you're arriving late and even feel Ike you're on auto-pilot as Siri navigates you to your hotel on a darkened street in Boulder: pay attention to your surroundings i.e. keep an eye out for the local coffee shop for some morning go-juice. Right on the corner of the main drag and Arapaho Ave is Flatiron Coffee, yes I spotted you as we drove into down. Truly one of life's little pleasures is a crisp mountain morning and a great cup of coffee, Joe if you will. Pandemic be damned, everyone is masked up and patiently waiting for their turn with the skilled Baristas at Flatiron. Princess wanted a simple latte, me, an even simpler Americano. Sometimes even simple is hard but not here, both drinks exceeded my expectations and the service was off the charts. Retail and the service industry are hard, especially on the front lines. You have to be "up" every 30 seconds for the next person or you risk getting dinged on social media. The ladies behind the counter was so warm and genuine, a true "welcome to Flatiron, welcome to Boulder" feeling. Starbucks will always be around (just ask K-Mart) so why not support local, especially when traveling, see what the locals are drinking, talking about, what they care about. Adorable spot that makes you feel right at home with the books and shelves and other comfy vibes. I heard so much about the Honey Pot Latte and got the low down about it from the barista. They use fresh Colorado honey, cinnamon and vanilla with your milk of choice and a shot of espresso to make the tastiest latte! I also had a super delish flakey croissant to hold me over until lunch. They had scones, vegan donuts, tacos and biscotti to munch on. Love their other drink choices and they also sell pure liquid cocoa as well - the hot drink called Florentine has Mocha in it with espresso. Definitely going to try that next.
