Opened my statement today and they still charged my card. I've given this place too many chances. For only being around since summer SOTTA has garnished so many positive Yelp reviews from so many people my boyfriend and I had to check out all the hype...we only really wanted coffee/tea and a pastry but were impressed with the initial vibe. The coffee, being Stumptown, was of course amazing (my boyfriends words) and I had the Chai tea latte with Almond milk...it was deliciously creamy, sweet but not overly so....perfect really in every way! After 10 minutes I ask an employee to check the pickup orders and she kind of half-checks and then tells me they know I'm there and will tell me when the food is ready. Suggestion: Apologize for the delay and let the customer know you will check to see what's going on and let me know. So I continue to wait. Numerous employees are standing around talking to each other, nobody is acknowledging that I'm sitting there continuing to wait. After 20 minutes of waiting I finally have to ask another employee to find out what's going on with my order. She seems annoyed that I ask, but goes to the kitchen and comes back and tells me about five more minutes. I've already waited 20 minutes for a pickup order and received no apologies or acknowledgement of the inconvenience for wasting my time. I notify the employee that I want to cancel the order. She reiterates it will be ready in five minutes. No, that's not the point anymore. It's not just the five minutes, it's the 20 I have already waited and the total lack of customer service to this point. Cancel. Next a young man comes out who I presume to be some sort of supervisor, and he asks me to wait five minutes, the food is almost ready, sorry but they are really busy with orders. Not my problem. You can't set a pickup time and blow it by 25-30 minutes and not offer any concern for your customer, and expect the customer to accept that. There are far too many restaurants out there that have figured out how to process pickup orders. At the very least communicate with a customer about an order especially when you know it is seriously delayed, and offer something maybe a drink while the customer waits or something. So the order gets cancelled, I go on my way without food and having wasted 30 minutes of my life. After a couple hours I get an email saying my order was refunded. I check the breakdown, yes I was refunded for the food and the tax, but not the tip! They still charged me a tip! Who is running this place and do they train people? read more

The food here is great BUT my gripe is with the whole "Gluten Free" options on the menu. I came here with a friend specifically because of all the Gluten Free options they offer on the menu. We came in, ordered and specifically told the person taking the order that it was very important that everything my friend ordered HAS to be gluten free. The first problem was my friend got his plate and it had a small stack of pita on top of his rice and meat... that means that it's contaminated now due to the non-gluten free pit. When we explained to them he can't eat that now due to the pita touching the food they suggested just taking the pita off the plate; we explained to them that's not how it works. They took the plate to the kitchen and brought it out 2 min later with the pita gone but the food was not replaced. My friend then went on to eat his Gluten Free Broccoli Salad and found pasta in it (picture attached). I know how sick my fiend gets when he has gluten, I understand the problem and feel for him. So I really like this place. Food is really good, you get what you pay for type of deal. What I don't like about it is that they don't seat you. People go save spots before they order their food. For example, there was two people ahead of me in line and one of them went to sit at a 4 seat table when there was a table for two open instead. I was with a larger party of 4. We had to wait until a table cleared for us because of that couple. They should seat their customers at least when they are busy, a lot of businesses do that. My friends and I came here on a Sunday night for a late dinner at this spot which was new for us. We're always excited to try new places and judging from the interior pictures and the menu items, I knew there was something that we could all appreciate from here. This place is kind of like an Olive and Thyme--harboring both good sides of foodie adventures...the coffee and teas and the nice range of delicious Mediterranean dishes. I'm usually not a fan of Mediterranean foods since I've grown up eating them not every place makes it the same way, so I opted for a salad. The service was nice from the get-go as the cashier helped ring up my order immediately and gave us a number while we fetched a booth. I liked that there was plenty of seating in this area by the booths and by the window. ARUGULA AND CARAMELIZED ONION SALAD (4/5): If you know me, you'd know I rarely order salads. I like to make my experience memorable and order something unusual like a savory meal, or a soup with exotic flavors, or anything else along those lines. However, the ingredients for this salad enticed me. Heaping amounts of walnuts, sundried tomatoes, blue cheese crumbles, a lime wedge and a crispy, savory piece of Pita cracker. The only thing I didn't really like were the sundried tomatoes. Too big, too chewy and not as "juicy" or savory...maybe (and most probably) it was the last batch on a Sunday night. I'd recommend changing that up, otherwise this salad was phenomenal. I actually couldn't finish the entire thing so I took it for lunch the next day. Note: I didn't add any meat protein with it and I didn't feel like the salad was lacking anything. Highly recommend this salad. HUMMUS (5/5): Delicious and provided with a nice amount of pita bread. The pita bread would have been better if warmed up. One thing we found odd was the behavior of one of the servers. We were three people so the bread ran out pretty quickly (since it was my friend's main dish, she wanted something small) and the server was pretty abrupt and clearly stressed from closing that night, so he didn't really say anything. He just immediately took our plate with the remaining pita bread and added some more slices to it. My friend expected, like many other places, for the server to simply bring more bread as opposed to taking ours back. Not really kosher. SAUTEED MUSHROOMS (5/5): Absolutely delicious. I would totally order this next time and add it to my salad. So savory, not too salty and tenderly cooked. You must try! SERVICE Again, not the best, but I understand it was a Sunday night and the folks were ready to go. We left by the time they closed the place. My friend asked for a to-go box for her hummus and mushrooms and they brought a big box. She kindly asked another server to bring something smaller for her side dishes and he only brought back one box which she used for the hummus, forcing us to just give up and leave the mushrooms on the table. But pretty expensive. The biggest down fall with this place is it's delivery quality. My order is placed in a salad like containers. Why though ? If food is searing hot why are y'all packaging the food in paper thin like containers. For the prices charged it doesn't make sense to have the containers used for this type of food given the temperature of the food. Perhaps a thicker plastic would help.
