What a gem!! It really puts into perspective how Halal Guys manages to stay open next door lol. The owner greets you with a genuine smile. After a few conversations, you can tell how proud and passionate he is about his food, and rightfully so. The beef wrap was juicy, the fries were crispy and saucy, and the hot sauce was to die for. The employee at the register was polite. The small Beef Gyros Shawarma Plate ($17.99) was actually quite large! I got full after eating only half. As mentioned, I chose the french fries instead of rice. The thick crinkle-cut fries were very crispy and a touch salty. I found the beef flavorful, but not as juicy as I hoped. I enjoyed the generous drizzle of creamy, garlicky sauces that had a similar mouthfeel to nacho cheese. The side of hummus was very good: rich, creamy, and smooth. I appreciated the fresh simplicity of the herbed salad, which consisted of crisp cucumber, tomato, and diced red onion. Today was my first time coming and I was very hopeful. I love rice dishes as it reminds me of Philadelphias food scene. The Halal cuisine, Indian cuisine, just a variety. I always appreciate a heads up if an order will take a bit longer. The fries were a bit intimidating at first. At first glance, I saw the beef, onions, cilantro, and sauce, but no fries. I also want sure if it was going to be spicy or not. First bite, there's a sweet and savory profile that goes very well with the fries. The beef was just right and I was immediately satisfied. I peered to side and took some of the house sauce, adding a few drops to the food. It didn't look that spicy and I was right. There is a smooth and sweet spice that blends so well with the dish. The curry now. I had never had non-Eastern nor non-South East Asian curry, so I was unsure of the expectations. It is a light curry that accentuates the chicken. I'm fairly sure it's white meat, but it was not dry at all. It has the right amount of sauce and goes down really well. All in all, loved this meal. I have leftovers and plenty to share.
