My favorite flavor at Somi Somi is the Ube. It blended very nicely with the Cookies & Cream! I'm also a big fan of their Milk tea flavor. Saw a new flavor on the board called "Sweet Corn". I have yet to try it, but according to the cashier it is inspired by a common Korean food. The music inside was kind of too loud to have a proper conversation with the cashier. Newly opened location in Milpitas Square on Barber Lane near 99 Ranch Market. Had to check this place out with my little one because who doesn't love a yummy cold treat on a warm day. On FB, I came across a special going on this weekend: 1 FREE taiyaki when you buy 1 ah-boong (8/23 to 8/25) and a free gift for the 1st 100 customers. When I got there I asked what flavors they recommend. I order a Matcha & Milk ah-boong with red bean Taiyaki. The free gift was a macaroon cookie topped in your soft serve. Awful customer service by the older Asian lady who claims to be the manager. If I can give zero or negative star, I would. We bought over $30 on dessert tonight around 8pm and when my daughter asked for a lid for ice cream, the worker was about to hand her one when the manager scolded him claiming that it is not allowed since we forgot to mark that 2 of 3 ice cream are to go on the kiosk. When I inquired further, she loudly said in Chinese that it is store policy that unless you mark to go, you cannot get a lid. Keep in mind that they do not charge for lids. We told her that we simply forgot to mark the other 2. She refused to give us one and claims she only works there and she does not make the store policy, yet the other worker does not seem to be aware of such policy. This seems absolutely ridiculous and owner should revisit who they hire, focus on improving customer service and provide better training. We were extremely frustrated. I frequently visits this place in past and am at loyal customer but after today's incident I will take my business elsewhere thanks to terrible customer service by a manager no less. read more

The ice cream is smooth and silky and tasted really good. I love the waffle cone in the fish shape. You can choose the filling. My kids love the cheese filling and Nutella. Love SomiSomi! Their price is all inclusive and you're able to choose toppings at the end for "free" instead of getting up charged for each topping you choose at other ice cream stores. I appreciate that they offer "upside down" cones where they put the ice cream in a cup first and then put the waffle fish on top. This is extremely helpful for little ones since it's easier for them to hold and eat. I love that this location has a lot of other eateries in the area so we're able to get a meal, snack, boba and dessert all in one place. They are in the Milpitas Square and parking is pretty difficult here on weekends and weeknights in this plaza. While the plaza was very busy and packed, they were empty here and my order still took awhile, but since they are still new, so they are still learning and getting the hang of it. I ordered my usual - an Upside Down Ahboong with Matcha Custard Filling & Matcha Soft Serve and 2 Taiyakis (Cheddar and Matcha Custard). The ahboong most likely had been sitting out on their cooling tray for awhile, since they were not that busy, so it was not warm, which I would had preferred, but the matcha custard inside was good. The soft serve was not as creamy as usual, but it was pretty good still. The taiyakis were good, but I felt like there was not much cheddar and matcha custard inside. Overall, nice new addition to this plaza and I love their desserts, but they are still new, so there is still room for improvements. read more
