Double (honey lavender blueberry, coconut pandan)
    Laura L.

This is a very small ice cream shop. They sell pints of ice cream too! I tried a sample of the black sesame and it was very good but they ran out of scoops unfortunately. I think black sesame was the best without being gritty or bitter. Coconut pandan was also very good and you could taste the bits of coconut in it. Honey lavender blueberry had almost a tart flavor which paired nicely with the blueberry and floral flavors.

Black sesame brittle is sooo yummy

My favorite spot for black sesame ice cream. It's sooo nutty and creamy. They have plenty other house made flavors too, but this is always my go to.

I love their unique flavors! I usually get durian. Their black sesame brittle is delicious too. I've had some unlucky times when I've gotten icy ice cream tho. The workers are always super nice! There's one little table inside and a couple tables outside to sit and chat with friends.

Double scoop with black sesame crunch and saffron rose water pistachio

A little cute store with friendly staff. All kinds of interesting flavors including durian, jackfruit, lychee, Pandan, ube, etc. I went with saffron rose pistachio and black sesame crunch. The first has a strong floral flavor and is on the sweeter side while the bittersweet sesame was my favorite. recommend!

Single of black sesame and dubai chocolate

Came here around 9pm. Staff were friendly and let us try a lot of flavors. The store itself is pretty clean and there's a lot of Asian-inspired ice cream flavors which is neat. The glaze for the black sesame is well-earned. It's a very creamy flavor and there's these yummy and huge chunks of black sesame sugar bits scattered. The Dubai chocolate was more of a pistachio ice cream than Dubai chocolate. There were microscopic bits of chocolate but not really enough to make it "Dubai chocolate." Would come back!

The menu at the Sunnyvale Farmer's Market

They have one flavor here that is outstanding: the black sesame, with sesame brittle mix-in. They sell their ice cream at the Milpitas store, and also at the Sunnyvale Farmer's Market on saturdays. So While you ae shopping for healthy vegetables at the farmer's market, indulge in some heavy cream at Sugar Mama.

Dropped by right before closing and the two girls working still welcomed me in. I picked up a pint of my favorite Black Sesame Brittle ice cream to bring home. Love the ice cream here!!

    Yozu pie flavor
    Jessi B.

The service was amazing! She let us try home almost all the flavors! Everything was super fresh and delicious! It was hard to pick a flavor because of how unique each one was. I ended up picking the yuzu pie flavor and I liked how refreshing and light it was. I do wish it would have been more frozen because of how hot the day was but other than that it was so good! For 3 single scoops came to about $19 and that's super reasonable given they make their ice cream from scratch. Cute tiny ice cream shop with super friendly staff!

03/12/2025 came here after lunch for some sweet dessert. The shop is very small and had two tables. It is a nice ice cream shop. I tried several ice cream flavors-- green tea jasmine? , matcha, and lychee. Some of the ice cream flavors were pretty unique, and they were made by the owner. According to her, she changes the menu every week (except for a few). Unfortunately, they were not as creamy as I thought they would be. -1 Maybe its the batch; maybe its the recipe. We did settle with the lychee flavor which tasted the best. Got it for a scoop ($6). It was definitely a good choice, I even got a few lychee bits. I would definitely come back to try other flavors another day.

Was craving something sweet after dinner nearby and I've been meaning to try Sugar Mama Desserts. The shop was still open past 9 on a weeknight so it worked out for us. Tucked away between some other stores and restaurants in Milpitas Square, Sugar Mama Desserts sells ice cream with Asian inspired flavors. We were able to sample whatever we wanted which was very generous. I ended up picking the guava ice cream and my friend got the raspberry lychee. $6/scoop is on the pricier side, but to support a local, small owned business that sells a quality, unique product is worth it. I'll be back to try some other flavors in the future!

Honey Lavender Blueberry and Yuzu Meringue Pie

Sugar Mama Desserts, this tiny shop has sure made a name for itself. With this small storefront tucked away next to Xian Steam Pot, I've seen Sugar Mama cater events to even weddings I've attended in the South Bay and for good reason! The Black Sesame Brittle is divine. Their flavors are delicious and unique, think Salt and Straw with an Asian twist! Stopped in with friends and got the Honey Lavender Blueberry & Yuzu Meringue Pie. The Yuzu was a crowd favorite and so good with bits of pie pieces. The Honey Lavender with Blueberry was also delicious too! More fruit forward if you're not a fan of strong florals. Portions are perfect here for a small treat and pricing is standard. A great place to stop by after dining anywhere at McCarthy Ranch. There isn't much of an interior, so either take out or buy pints to enjoy at home.

Black sesame brittle on waffle cone
    Emily W.

I got a scoop of the black sesame brittle on a waffle cone. It was definitely unique and quite delicious! There were a bunch of real sesame seeds in this too, which I feel like isn't too common in black sesame desserts. The waffle cone was alright, pretty hard in texture and it had a huge gap in it (wasn't rolled tightly enough) which didn't hold the ice cream well because the ice cream kept dripping through the gap. Overall pretty good ice cream spot with unique Asian-inspired flavors. Would come back to try more flavors!

    Do they sell quart sizes?

didn't see that as an option

Do they sell ice cream cakes?

    Nope, just fantastic ice cream.

Does the ice cream have eggs?

Hi Meera - Great question! Our ice cream does not contain eggs. The only time is when we might add brownies or cookies. It will be noted in the label for each flavor.… Read more

The cheesecake was more subtle and had a great flavor that actually tasted like cheesecake. My friend got the cheesecake factory ice cream with graham crackers, and it was amazing! It was hard to eat and it was a lot to chew. The inside was a bit dry, I think there could be more of the pistachio creme inside. Wouldn't get the dubai chocolate taiyaki again since the other flavors are so much better.
