Dropped by over the weekend for ice cream. They have a decent selection of Asian flavored ice creams, and most of the ones we sampled were tasty. We ended up buying a pint of durian for $15. Service was a bit of a miss. There was only 1 employee manning the store, and we first walked in, there was a huge group being helped. We waited so long we actually decided to leave and come back. When we were sampling flavors, the samples provided were tiny. We also observed the employee stick his entire head into the ice cream fridge to scoop some of the samples, which we thought was unsanitary. Amazing! Delicious! Decadent! My husband and I stopped by Sugar Mama for some ice cream cravings! We got the famed black sesame along with the butterscotch. The black sesame was lovely- strong nutty notes with little pieces of brittle. The butterscotch was nostalgic and tasted like a wethers. It was so tasty and reminiscent of my childhood. We booked Sugar Mamas for our June 2026 wedding after sampling them at a wedding vendor fair our venue hosted. My husband and I are not the biggest ice cream people so it was not initially on our radar to have ice cream at our wedding, but once sampling Sugar Mamas we knew we had to have them be part of our day. We did a tasting which included 16 flavors of ice cream. Some of the flavors were a little plain, but we especially liked their fusion/more unique flavors like durian and guava. They were also super sweet and let us take home all the ice cream from our tasting! The communication the weeks leading up to the wedding was a little delayed, but everything ended up working out smoothly (especially because theybhad experience working with our venue). They served black sesame brittle, guava, durian, vegan pineapple mango coconut, butterscotch, and cookie monster ice cream. All our guests loved the flavors and they ran out of ice cream within the 1 hr 15 min serving time. With so many rotating unique flavors including many that are popular among the asian pallete, there is something for everyone. They might not be known for the largest scoops (like Fentons), but each flavor is distinct and robust with an appropriate amount of aroma. They are not afraid to try new things and push the boundaries with flavors like Henny Penny (yes, like Hennessy the cognac), or even durian which was pleasant and not too overpowering for your nose. We are also huge fans of their Fresh Guava so if you are lucky and see it, go get it while it is available. The scoops can be kind of pricey, but I assure you it is worth it! Plus they sell pints, so if there's a flavor you enjoy and it is in stock, you can take it home at a better value. My wife and I also hired Sugar Mama Desserts to be our surprise vendor during our wedding and couldn't be happier with the amazing flavors and incredible service from Renisa and her team. We went here thanks to Yelp as this would have been just another place we walk by. The decor feels like a 70 ice cream place with black and white floors and older pictures on the walls. It is a small place but the ice cream packs a punch. The service is what you would expect. They allow you to taste some flavors before buying. We had the mango, burnt sesame and strawberry. The server served me semi-melted salted caramel passionfruit ice cream, which was just sloppily thrown on top of another scoop like pudding.
