Entering the business it has a contemporary feeling. The place is very clean. Tables and benches are natural wood looking. It's definitely a place for younger people since the older population would have difficulties sitting on the wooden benches some with no back support but the younger generation will love the different ambience The server was very nice explaining all the different menu items. My absolute favorite was the matcha strawberry swirl soft serve. This is the first place for me finding matcha ice cream other than buying in the store.
Sweet tooth satisfied and perfect for the Austin hot summer afternoon. Visited SomiSomi and it did not disappoint. I tried the matcha strawberry swirl upside down Ahboong - it was creamy, perfectly balanced (not too sweet!), and that crispy cone with warm Nutella filling? Absolute game changer. Also tried a black sesame taiyaki--nutty, subtly sweet, and surprisingly delicious. The earthy flavor was spot on. They are very generous on the filling too!
How is everyone NOT talking about this place? Best frozen dessert I may have ever eaten. The Ube Frozen Custard was magnificent. Service was amazing, seating was immaculate and modern. Everything was fresh and delicious. Can't wait to come back to try more flavor combinations! Love that it isn't too sweet.
Recently got an ahboong and Oreo taiyaki at Somisomi and both were absolutely delicious! The soft serve was super creamy and satisfying to eat, and made a great contrast with the super crispy ahboong. Service was friendly and helpful and the place is super cute inside. The only downside was the ambient volume was uncomfortably loud despite stopping in on a weekday evening when it wasn't all that busy. It was hard to hear my name called over the loud speaker, and it was so loud I couldn't stay inside to eat. It would be great if they end up hanging some of the noise dampening panels to help with the noise and echo.
What a nice, calm and clean space! We came in for a Yelp Elite event within the first hour of opening on Monday to only a couple of people there. We absolutely love the design of the space. It was pretty chilly inside while we ate our treats but that didn't affect how yummy everything we had was! We got 2 Ah-boong upside down with Nutella filling, one with the matcha strawberry ice cream and the other with cookies and cream. The Taiyaki isn't really my thing but it was good to my little one who I let have!
This place is very fun huge dining room ! The staff were super nice . The ice cream is delicious ! I had the ube it was super sweet and creamy and the toppings of coconut flakes and boscuff cookies was wonderful the fish waffles were cute and very interesting filings red bean Nutella, black sesame .
I love Somisomi! Somisomi specializes in taiyaki - a nice warm (fish-shaped and designed) pancake filled with custard (or red bean) then topped with a wonderful swirl of milk/ube flavored soft serve! The inside of the business is very spacious and clean, as were there restrooms. Employees were nice and offered their recommendations if you come in indecisive on what to get. If you've never been here, definitely recommend. Especially during Austin's current heatwave, this place and their ice cream options will for sure cool you off!
Omg! 5 out of 5!! This was the best ice cream ever. Good flavors to choose from, great location and friendly staff. Will definitely be back for more!
I have been a fan of SomiSomi for a long time since I lived in California. I'm happy they came to Austin now.
We all got the upside down soft serve! It comes with toppings and a filling. They have weekly swirl options: I got the matcha Oreo swirl with black sesame filling and a macaron. I loved the bread it was crispy, sweet, and soft. The soft serve was also delicious, but I'd probably share a cup with someone next time. We all thought the serving size was pretty big, but maybe we just don't have the biggest sweet tooth haha. The store is located in the Linc which has open parking. The inside is open space with benches ? which is modern looking, but not the best if you need regular chairs/ back support. The AC is on pretty high so I'd recommend bringing a light jacket if you get cold easily like me. The workers were nice and helpful. I'd go back again!
Lovely spot for ice cream and to hang out in general! I came on a Saturday afternoon and there was only a few people inside. You can order soft serve, tayaki or a soft serve with a tayaki. Everything is made to order, so they will call your name and make your ice cream right there. Inside is an open space with plenty of sitting and standing spots. I got the ube matcha swirl with cream. It was big enough to share and very yummy!

I tried the ube and matcha swirl soft serve the first time we came for a visit and tonight I tried the ube on its own with an ahboong. The fresh strawberry milk is also so tasty, and made with REAL fruit! Although I've had the somi somi in San Diego and in Pleasanton both in California, I remember the ube being a much richer purple color and stronger ube flavor, this one is a creamy but slight ube tasting flavor. The seating inside is very inviting, and seats plenty!! Great for dates, or family outings. Love it here!
My first time trying out Somisomi Soft Serve and Taiyaki and it was SO good. It is a spacious location in N. Austin at the Linc with plenty of parking. The store is whimsical and modern and bright. There are lots of yummy rich soft-serve flavors to pick from -- such as Milk, Chocolate, Ube, Matcha, Cookies and Cream and they just added Banana Milk which is what I selected. It tasted so fresh and natural. For my toppings I had coconut flakes and it is served in their signature goldfish-shaped waffle cone. So cute and delicious too. Perfect for the whole family. Is is not overly sweet and the portions are quite large. And next to try the Taiyaki, a crispy fish shaped pastry filled with your choice of filling. I selected custard. Other fillings are Nutella, Oreo's Cheddar and Black Sesame. Taiyaki is usually served warm and believe me It is melt in your mouth good. I definitely recommend this Somisomi for all. Bring the kids too! read more

Brought the kids in for a treat and had a few different ahboongs, soft serve cup and taiyaki The black sesame filling was great but my favourite flavour was the banana milk. It tasted so natural. I loved the ice cream at this place! I wish I knew more about what I was ordering, and the girl helping me had on a face mask and was speaking very quietly, so it was really hard to hear her. But she pointed to what I could order as part of the Yelp event, so I just took a stab in the dark. I ordered the regularAnboong, because I did not understand what an upside down anboong was. But I should've gotten the upside down one! The ice cream is by far the best thing they have - I got the ube - so good! But if you get it like I did in the upside down fish waffle cone, it gets really messy. You can also choose a filling, so I just said Nutella and that's what was in the bottom of the cone. The little strawberry cookie they set on top was also very tasty. It was very messy toward the end and that's why if you got the upside down one in the cup, I think that would be a much better idea! Along with that, I could order a taiyaki, which is basically a toasty waffle with filling. I got mine filled with custard. It was good, but the ice cream was better. They are located in the strip center between pluckers and Easy Tiger, right by I 35 and Highway 290. It's easy in and out and there's plenty of parking. The place itself was surprisingly large with very contemporary seating. I don't live close to it, but I will definitely go back whenever I am in the area! read more

I finally got the chance to come by and try somisomi! I got the pistachio swirl with cookies and cream and it was good! I'm not a huge ice cream/soft serve person so I knew coming into this I wasn't going to be in love with it. It was good enough that I feel like others will like it! I moreso wanted to come and see the hype and I think it lived up to it! Despite there being a line they were EXTREMELY fast like less than a 2 min wait from when we ordered to receiving our soft serve. There was plenty of space maybe a few more tables can go in but regardless there was space! I hope I can come back read more
Came here on a Sunday. There was no line when I arrived, but a few minutes after, the line was almost out the door. It can be a bit of a wait if they are busy, so keep that in mind. Just take a seat, and hopefully, you can hear your name being called out. I got the milk and salted caramel soft serve in a cup. I really wish they had different sizes for a cup. It is a lot of soft serve in my opinion, but I have seen people finish it before, so it all depends on you. The milk and salted caramel didn't disappoint. The salted caramel definitely had a salted kick to it, but the milk helped it out. As for the store, I feel like they ran out of money because the decor and all the empty sizes are a bit weird compared to other locations that I have been to. It looked like they had enough money for one side of the store, and that's it. The parking situation, I hate this parking lot. Not their fault, but the parking spaces here are SMALL. They barely fit a normal-size sedan in these spots. So come early to find a good parking spot, and hopefully, you don't get a door ding from others parking near you. read more
I work super close, just a quick walk from here. In fact, when I'm at the office I like to take walks to stretch my legs. My walks often bring me to The Linc where this is located. Been wanting to try since they opened a few months ago, and always forget. When a colleague suggested we stop by for a treat, I was ALL in! The decor is so super modern, sleek, and clean. They've even got a section of amphitheater-style seating. Very much feels like it's a spot in Seoul or Taiwan. Amazing. Great service too. The treat... the best!! I got the Ah Boong upside down (in a cup). Salted caramel ice cream with custard (inside the Taiyaki) and topped with Biscoff crumbles and Cocoa Pebbles. Plus, of course, the best part...the Taiyaki!! The little fishy friend aka Taiyaki was perfectly baked. Fresh, warm, soft and crisp in all the right places! The toppings were fresh. The ice cream and custard...out of this world!!! There was a flavor dance in my mouth jamming to the best of the best K-Pop tunes you can spin. Delicious. Delicious. Delicious. I've been waiting for this one for a long, long time, SomiSomi is FINALLY in Austin, and my heart is singgginggg. I'm not usually a dessert person nor do I like anything cold unless it's a hot day, but for SomiSomi, I make the exception every time. Yes, it's a chain, but it serves THE best soft serve and taiyaki I've ever had!! Not sure if it's because this location is new or because it's the only one in Austin (could be a combo of both), but as soon as you arrive, there's a wait past the door. Nothing unbearable, but don't be surprised. This location is the biggest one I've seen and lives up to "Everything's bigger in Texas"--expect plenty of tables. Since this location is busy, everything is freshly made. The taiyaki I had was the warmest and fluffiest one I've ever had! How it works: Order the vessel you'd like your soft serve to be in: in a cup (no waffle), in a taiyaki, or my go-to, the "upside down" (cup with a taiyaki on top). This location also has the most flavor options I've seen: six flavors plus three swirl combos. After choosing your base, you pick your filling and finish it off with toppings. Line was long but went by fast! This location is solid, the ice cream is good consistency wise and the taiyaki is made perfectly. I really liked the seating area too for everyone to sit around and socialize. Couple notes: the strawberry matcha was not good at all, just tastes like sugar milk and the pistachio ice cream has a very minuscule flavor of pistachio. read more

Somi Somi is in Austin!! I had Somi Somi soft serve many moons ago when I visited other spots in the US where this place had already made its mark in Asian based sweet treats and very much enjoyed the same resulting experience from the grand opening. The line was out the door and the wait took a bit, our ahboon came out very quickly but the complimentary taiyakis that were supposed to come with did not show and I had to reapproach the counter after 15 mins of waiting and seeing so many parties after us getting their orders. I'm not sure why this happened but it was a little frustrating with the huge crowds and waiting for a while seeing what happened and how quickly they can assemble the desserts. The inside is beautiful, modern and an abundance in spots to sit, I also liked the toppings you can pile on the soft serve and all the flavors, looking forward to returning once the hype goes down, and trying them again soon. read more

I will admit that I fell for the TikTok and Instagram hype about this place. I really want to love it, but I did not. The wait was long, and my order came out wrong. They did correct it after trying to argue with me that it was correct. The biggest issue for me is that I just did not like the texture of it. It was too...thick is maybe the best way I can describe it. I love the ube soft serve at our favorite hot pot place and this just did not compare at all. I might give it another try and I do think it might be worth it if you have kids. read more
Love that somisomi has finally opened in Austin! There is plenty of indoor space and seating here, parking is fairly easy too. It's new, so the wait can be a bit long. We got lucky arriving at 8ish on a Tuesday with no line, but by the time we left it was out the door. Good variety of soft serves, fillings, and toppings that are sure to please everyone! Felt the waffle could've been cooked a bit longer, but it was still good. Definitely recommend trying it out! read more
Somisomi did a great job with our large order tonight. I got the ube + matcha swirl and it was fantastic. Such great flavors and made a great combination. Ample places for kids to run around and sit throughout the store. Everyone working was kind and thoughtful in their interactions with us. read more
The soft serve was very creamy and rich, although I wish it had more pistachio flavor, still enjoyed it. I got the Nutella, custard and cheese taiyaki. Taiyaki came out hot and delicious. My favorite was the cheese taiyaki. It was very quick to order and get my food. Although a line formed shortly after we ordered so depends on your luck lol very spacious inside, they could definitely add more decor to the walls or more chairs/booths etc read more
I have loved SOMISOMI since having it in LA like ten years ago. It would always be a special treat since I have never lived in a place where there's been a location. That changed today with the opening of its North Austin location at The Linc shopping complex. It can be hard to find at first but it is located right next to the FedEx bordering Frontage Road. The space itself is huge. I'm used to just a space with no seating inside but this one has various seating options with room for a lot more. They promoted opening day with a gift for the first 100 customers, which was just a yellow tote bag, pen, and magnetic clip. The even better opening weekend promotion (4/10-4/12) however is a free Taiyaki with the purchase of an Ah-Boong (soft serve + taiyaki). The bonus taiyaki is a surprise flavor but you can likely choose if you have a food allergy. The special opening soft serve flavor is Peach. All current flavors, with swirls available for each set of two: Cookies and Cream Peach Matcha Ube Milk Sakura Berry Flavors and swirls change weekly but you can check their Instagram for the current offerings. If you've never been here, you have a few customization options. Filling options include Black Sesame, Matcha Custard, Nutella, Custard, and Red Bean. Topping options include Macaron, sprinkles, and various cereal and crumbles. My go-to order is usually an upside down ah-boong (served in a cup), a Matcha / Ube / Black Sesame soft serve base + swirl, red bean filling, with just some fruity pebbles for toppings. Today was my first day trying the Milk and Sakura Berry swirl flavors and I really liked it. You can really taste that distinct sakura flavor. The taiyaki are not to be skipped. I like taking a few of these home to enjoy throughout the week. It's also cheaper to order 5. These have the same filling options as the ah-boongs, but also include Cheese, Oreo, and Dubai Chocolate which costs more. They also have Somi Sips that have various flavored milks and coffee. In terms of opening day demand, they streamlined very well with making a lot of the taiyaki cones before ordering. This did lead to the taiyaki being a bit staler and squishier, when I usually have had them served freshly made and cooled. This will likely and hopefully change when demand dies down. read more

This place is adorable!! And the taiyaki and soft serve were really good! It's fun to watch them make the fish in front of you and then fill them up. I would definitely recommend ordering upside down- if you don't, it's hard to finish your soft serve and time to prevent it from leaking out the bottom of your fish :) read more
I got the cookie and cream taiyaki with macron topping. Macron was not what I expected. Cookie and cream is interesting as it's completely blended and no cookies. Decent flavor. The taiyaki waffle is better than the ice cream. Service was pretty fast. The store was big and nice, you get to sit and enjoy your sweets. Great for kids too! read more
The ice cream wasn't my favorite - had an odd flavor but the texture was outstanding. The taiyaki is the star. I would come back to try more of their flavors. Prices are not bad for a dessert shop. This place recently aopened so it was packed with a line wrapping around the inside of the place (took at least 20 minutes before we could place our order). read more

i'm so happy this chain is in austin now bc i've always loved their soft serve!! the space is very big, modern, clean, and overall really pretty inside :) the taiyaki is super crispy and fresh, and the ice cream texture is sooo smooth and creamy. the flavor rotations are always super fun and yummy, and there are lots of toppings to choose from that said, the service was a little slow... they could use more staff. it was also freezing inside like everyone was literally shivering. overall, a really enjoyable spot for dessert, just maybe bring a jacket lol read more

We went here for the opening weekend. I definitely want to go again. The ambience is great and it's a really nice large space. They're also fairly efficient and it's interesting to watch them make the items fresh and then at the end you get to choose your toppings and they have such fun options. The texture is amazing and the flavors are really interesting. read more
