Hot take: Ice cream in Austin is surprisingly mid and I have been deprived up until my very recent discovery of this place. I know many Austinites have an undying loyalty to a local ice cream chain but it simply does not compare to Gelato Paradiso (unless you're my husband and can't get enough of Mexican vanilla). The pistachio gelato is intensely nutty, perfectly smooth, and easily my favorite. The raspberry is a close second - packed with fruity flavor and the texture is somehow thick n creamy despite being a sorbet. It'll be hard for me to peel away from these two options, but samples of the dark chocolate and salted caramel were also so good. Ask for two flavors if you can't decide, the servers are happy to help. Not a ton of seating/standing options but there are benches right outside. Love the little window that lets us peek into the kitchen where the magic is made. Shoutout Baldinucci Pizza Romana forever and ever for introducing me to the wonderful Gelato Paradiso! Will be back for lots more this summer! read more

Absolutely LOVED this place! Came here for the first time with out of town guests. I was so happy they had dairy free options for me. It tastes rich and authentic. Super creamy and they had so many flavor options. I got the chocolate and strawberry dairy free. My husband got vanilla and our nephew got cookies and cream. They all loved theirs. I got the small and it was still such a good portion. However they didn't offer us to sign up for rewards and we spend over $30 on ice cream. They said they couldn't use that purchase towards points so that was a bummer. Otherwise a great time and will be back! It's so delish. read more

My favorite gelato spot in Austin! Prime location in SoCo (although parking can be a struggle, but..that's just Austin for ya). Great on a summers day and even during the winter freeze (which is when I got it) Quaint little place that lets you pick up to 4 flavors in a small cup! I love the variety. The quality and flavors are all delicious. The small cup is more than enough and they are pretty generous. 1) Pistachio - Subtly nutty pistachio flavor, very smooth 2) Mint Chip - Not too minty..again pretty subtle. but well balanced 3) Dulce de Leche - I liked this one more than the salted caramel 4) Cookies and Cream - doesn't taste like an oreo more like a sweet gelato with little chocolatey accents. More just sweet 5) Strawberry Cheesecake - Not very cheesecakey. Sweet and slightly strawberry-y 6) Flavor of the month (JAN) Gingersnap - This was pretty good, gingerbready All the flavors are more sweet leaning and then the flavor comes in very subtly. read more

My friend kept raving about this place when we were having dinner down on Soco, so we walked over for dessert. We all got split scoops of 2 different flavors. Mine were pistachio and hazelnut and it was delicious. The small was plenty for me. They had a line when we arrived but they got through it pretty quickly and even gave out samples without holding up the line. We'll be back when on Soco! read more

Most people who are native Austinites or a visitor have been to Gelato Paradiso. This Gelato shop is located next to La Perla and formerly By George Boutique. We had a small cup of the Matcha gelato. It was extremely creamy with a hint of the Matcha flavoring. It is important to note that Gelato Paradiso hand makes its own cones. In addition, they have an assortment of flavors to choose from. Given its strategic location...off S. Congress Avenue, Gelato Paradiso is a popular location as it is close to many retail stores and boutiques. There is a public garage located behind the building. Parking is generally validated for two hours by most S. Congress businesses. Overall, our group was about 50 people so service was not lighting fast. However, the line moved fast and everyone appearred to be happy. read more

It was a warm December day in Austin, and after walking around Congress, we needed something to cool off. We found this highly rated spot on Yelp with so many great reviews, so we couldn't pass up the chance for some gelato. This place really knocks it out of the park with its flavors. There were so many good options that it was hard to choose. The service was okay, and the shop itself was very clean and well kept. There are a few seats inside and some outside as well. I went with the sweet and salty caramel and the peanut butter, and both were really good. I enjoyed every bite, and this is definitely one of my favorite ice cream spots in Austin now. read more

Great gelato spot! Came on a Sunday around sunset for a sweet treat. They let you choose up to 4 flavors for the cups which I thought was pretty awesome. Ended up getting 3 different flavors including the Dark Chocolate Hazelnut, Pistachio, and Butter Pecan. Portions are generous! read more

I came here because Baldinucci offers a subset of their gelato. Gelato Paradiso is located on South Congress, sandwiched between Lalaland and Perla's. Just walk down the path away from S Congress, and Gelato Paradiso will be on your right. If I'm in the area, I'll usually drop by. The shop is small, with a handful of tables. But, get in line, and you'll be able to assess the assortment of flavors that they have available. To the right of their display cabinets, they have windows looking into their kitchen area. They offer various sizes, and you can get multiple flavors. Sampling is totally permitted to help you decide, although I trust them enough that I just pick whatever flavor combos I think seem reasonable. Their mint contains pieces of dark chocolate, which was a nice surprise. Their Dubai Chocolate has a pistachio base, with a sweeter chocolate and shredded phyllo dough mixed in; definitely on the sweeter side of the spectrum. Their fruity flavors are very nice too. read more

Best gelato I've had in the US. This is the real deal! It's a small shop on Congress with a few very small tables. They have AC so it's a great spot to get a treat and a break from the Austin heat. They do have a restroom available for customers. They have dozens of flavors of both gelato and sorbet. As well as shakes, granitas, and espresso options. They have two sizes of cups and waffle cones and let you have up to 4 flavors. I got the bigger size and tried 4 flavors. Lemon and raspberry sorbet and pistachio and cookies and cream gelato. It was amazzzzinggg. So creamy, smooth, and bold rich flavors. No weird artificial flavors here. We immediately looked up where there were additional locations (come to Omaha!!!). read more

Loved loved this place! They allow samples and seemingly allow you to get as many flavors as you want in your cup/cone. I tried their chocolate hazelnut which was RICH. The blackberry was tasty but a little sweet. I shared a grande with my friend and we got the Dubai chocolate (love), coffee (can't go wrong), and coconut. All were great with great portions for $7. read more

Such a cute little gelato spot in South Congress! It's kind of hidden tbh, but I'm so glad I found it. I tried the strawberry and the dairy-free chocolate, and both were amazing. The strawberry one was super fruity and the chocolate was honestly one of the best I've had in Austin so far. They let us taste a few flavors before deciding. The service was 10/10 and the place itself is adorable, with outdoor seating. I'll definitely be back to try more flavors read more

YUM! Really great gelato tucked away on South Congress. First impression is that the shop is absolutely freezing inside (obviously). The workers were so nice and patient and let us taste a few flavors. I was excited to see you could pick up to 4 flavors in a regular cup. I went with coconut sorbet, pistachio, hazelnut dark chocolate, and panna cotta. The hazelnut chocolate one was my favorite. Usually I go with pistachio, but this was more sweet than salty. Nice portions, and very creamy gelato. I even loved the sorbet more than expected. There is a single bathroom that you can use a key code to enter. Also a few seats inside and outside. Went to order the Affogato al cafe but got a "the espresso machine is turned off" instead lol Maybe put a sign somewhere on the menu claiming when you guys turn off the machine.? Run to this place! Everything I tasted was so delicious. I've been to Italy and Spain and this was way way up there for my fav gelato of all time. I chose mango and raspberry chocolate chip. Staff were helpful. A small bar for sitting inside or lots of tables nearby outside. read more

Honestly I was biased that I did not expect this place to be this good. I love Italy. I love gelato. This place took me back to Florance. The taste of nocciola (hazelnut) is fantastic. Get a regular size choose your favorites, and enjoy life. Service was extremely friendly and nice. South congress doesn't disappoint. Ambience is nice. Great lighting and AC! It is a small store. This place is amazing! Hands down the best gelato I've had in Austin. The flavors are so fresh and unique--think blackberry stracciatella, melon, passion fruit, matcha... all perfect on a hot Texas day. I got the panna cotta with blackberry stracciatella and it was the dreamiest combo: creamy, fruity, and not overly sweet. You can tell everything is made with care and high-quality ingredients. This place popped up in my recommended places at Austin so I said why not. Half Banana Pudding & Half Cookies & Cream 5/5: Woooooow simply creamy & delicious I was speechless how Gelato could be that good! Two of my favorite flavors combined was an extraordinary experience. The banana bits tasted really fresh accompanied by the Oreoish cookies made it a match made in heaven. Best Gelato in Austin. Having been to Italy and trying various Gelato places, this one is very reminiscent of my time there. I recommend getting a small cup with 4 flavors, what's incredible is that the layering of the flavors was so well done, that the flavors barely mixed with one another. Excellent attention to detail in the customer service and serving of the gelato. It's a very small shop, but very clean and modern. I reccomend getting the Stracciatella, Pistacchio, and Cioccolato Gelato and the Limone Sorbetto. read more

A new Austin business to add to my best "Best of Austin" collection. This place blew the other ice cream shops I have tried in Austin out of the water (yeah technically gelato is not ice cream i know i know) It was super busy on Friday night, I walked around S Congress and saw so many people with these gelato cups and cones. I did what a good foodie must do then - hunt the place down and try it. Gelato was creamy and flavorful, they have around 20+ flavors from creamy ones: pistachio, panna cotta, hazelnut chocolate, mint chip, etc. to sorbet ones like mango and berries. They also let you try out samples. Price was about $7 for the smaller size but their size is not to be disregarded - its a hefty serving. I sample and really like the coffee and hazelnut chocolate, pistachio is pretty good too but can be a lot if you are only ordering one flavor. Line took a while to move because there were only two employees. They have one table inside and a few benches outside. Overall great spot! read more

Felt like I was back in Italy enjoying gelato on a warm day. Gelato paradiso was absolutely delicious and I highly recommend. There are many flavors to choose from. Service was friendly and while the line was a bit long, it went by fast. Get your gelato in a cone or in a cup but come and treat yourself. There's limited seating inside and some seats outside. The establishment is on Congress so expect parking to be on the more difficult side. read more

A regular gelato in a cup is $6.75 plus tax and you can choose up to 4 different flavors. I did not know that until I already ordered and paid. They have gelato as well as sorbetto which is the fruity selections. I opted for the espresso and it was very rich and creamy. Super delicious and a perfect treat for a hot summer day in Austin. Parking: very difficult to find parking around the area. Probably have to street park or paid parking at nearby parking structures. read more

A really solid gelato spot! We wanted something refreshing on a hot day in Austin. The employee was super nice, and he was making all the gelatos from scratch in the back. I recommend getting a cup so you can get a max of 4 flavors. It's so hard deciding! I ended up getting the passion fruit sorbet, pistachio, chocolate covered strawberry and the salted caramel. All the flavors were fantastic and you can tell that the quality of the products used was very good. Small shop but super clean and right on SoCo. Highly recommend for your gelato needs! read more

Wait not even kidding gelato paradiso is now in my top three fav ice cream places. There is everything to rave about with the cone- it is so soft and chewy and I still dream about it. I got the banana and pistachio gelato flavors and both were very rich and creamy. Oh also my fiancé got the affagato and it was so fricken good. Highly recommend! The line is always out the door, but it moves really fast. The place is nestled in the busy street of soco (parking is kind of difficult) , but if you are ever in the area, definitely make your way over after dinner ! read more

Had to try Gelato Paradiso after I found out it was in Yelp's top ice cream list of 2023. (47th) After sampling five flavors, I got the duce de leche and panda cotta. Get the REGULAR size because it feels like a size up anyways. They are generous with the scoops and have a friendly staff. Plenty of places to eat outside and walk around to hear live music. read more

Oh my gosh this place is so good! Stopped in here after dinner and got a strawberry cheesecake cone and it was delicious. I loved the fruitiness of the strawberry puree in the ice cream, it helped balance out the heaviness of the cream cheese flavor. Also, the inside of this place smells sooo yummy from them making the waffle cones. Definitely a little pricey but I would say it was worth it :) read more

Gelato Paradiso is a hidden gem on South Congress. I walked into the shop and was immediately greeted and given the warmest welcome. I sampled many different options. They were all excellent. I was honestly shocked by how tasty was. I opted for peanut butter and the strawberry with chocolate options. Both were rich, flavorful, and creamy. Pricing was between $6-$8 for cups or cones. You can get up to four flavors per serving. I ordered a small cup and felt like it was a lot, and even be shared between two people. Overall: I highly recommend trying them out! I always felt that Amy's and Jeni's were overrated. If you're considering a sweet treat on S. Congress, definitely stop by Paradiso. It's worth it! read more

We went here twice and enjoyed it each time. Most recently we went here on a Saturday night after dinner to get some dessert. There was only one couple in front of us, so we were served right away. The staff was friendly and the inside of the restaurant was clean as well. As for the dessert, it was all delicious! I enjoyed both different scoops and my fiancé did as well. I am sure we will be back at some point. read more

The food was much better than I even anticipated - as a guy who grew up on NJ diner mozzarella sticks, I have a high bar for them and these were magnificent. And seriously...taking the "everything's bigger in Texas" slogan and applying them to mozzarella sticks?! top 10 achievements of the decade. The chicken parm was perfect - well seasoned, proper amount of crisp..the basil on top...the perfect browning of the cheese. Also the lasanga was excellent..and best part - the leftovers..took it home and the next two days put them in a small cast iron and re-heated them..and the magic was right there in my hill country kitchen! Lastly and certainly not least - the cannoli...just look at the photo below.. I'll say, yes, the place is pricey but you can really easily split these entrees and then it becomes cheaper than a jersey strip center Italian joint.
