Came here one night trying to find a good ramen soup. I was not disappointed. The soup is hotly and made spicy to your liking. We have had several dishes here and have enjoyed them all. The fried beef dumplings are a must have for us each time we go in. If you have the time to wait for their special chicken, it is absolutely worth it. In a cold windy night the Ramen (there are multiple types) are very comforting and they have a very creative way of taking them to go and you putting it together when you get home so that you get the full effect as if you were sitting in the restaurant. My favorite is the Korean ramen with the mild broth with the spicy pork. That is just spicy enough for me. The food here is sooo good and the family that runs this restaurant are really wonderful people. They do a hopping take out business. read more

The restaurant is spaciuos with a lot of seating, and had 2 or 3 servers working around the time we arrived (3pm). Although there were 3 servers, they all left the old dirty dishes from previous customers sitting out on the table for hours.. [Food: 4 of 5]] so dduk - so dduk? - It came out first, and was super good. The rice cakes were crispy; the sausages were a bit over cooked for my liking but the whole dish tasted great with their sweet chili sauce. Fish Cake Soup- This soup was so hearty, and super hot. It paired amazingly well with our cold noodle soup. A bite of hot soup, with a bite of cold noodles. It was like the best of both worlds. We couldn't finish this soup because there was just so much of it; it is the perfect soup to share as a table. Cold Noodle Soup/ Mul Naengmyeon : This dish is seasonal, and my friend and I were afraid they wouldn't have it in season anymore since it's getting colder now and we're into the Fall season. Luckily, they did have it so of course we had to order it. The cold broth was refreshing, and tasted great with a dash of mustard and vinegar. Korean Fried Chicken- you have to order this first (recommended) since it takes over 30 mins to cook for it to get crispy. we ordered half soy garlic and half spicy. The chicken was crispy but could use more flavor/sauce. The sauce barely coated the chicken, so it kind of just tasted like eating at popeyes. The spicy wings were not spicy, it had a kick at first but then went away immediately. The soy garlic was good, but I wish it had more sauce on them. My friends and I went here before one of the yelp events that was going on in the area. We heard that their chicken was good so we were excited to try it. The service was just okay. There were a couple times where we had to remind them to provide our drinks that we ordered and also the utensils that we needed. The restaurant was very big but empty. There were a lot of seats but also they did not clean up the dishes from a table that sat before us until we were almost done with our meals. Since they didn't, and had the door wide open, there was a fly that kept going back and forth around our table. Onto the food! Here's a little breakdown of what we got: Korean Fried Chicken (2/5) - We ordered this first because we knew it would take 30 mins to make. We had medium wings with half soy garlic and spicy. The chicken was a little too oily and barely had any sauce. The spicy was just spice but no flavor but the soy garlic was good. So Dduk - So Dduk (4/5) - This was super yummy. The dduk was so crisp and paired well with the sausage. The sweet chili sauce was also a great combination. Fish Cake Soup (5/5) - I can't tell if this was the star of the show or the mul naengmyeon but this was honestly so delicious. It felt like a hug in a bowl. There was a plentiful and a variety of fish cakes. Each with so different and flavorful. Mul Naengmyeon (5/5) - We were so scared that they weren't going to serve this because it wasn't summer anymore but they had it. it was slushy, and the noodles were perfectly cooked. My party of three came today for a quick lunch. We ordered the following: Seafood Pancake, Japchae, Spicy Pork, and LA Galbi. Here's the consensus rating from the group. Seafood Pancake: my wife and my friend thought they were really good. The sauce that came with it complemented the dish really well. I thought the pancake could be slightly crunchier. Almost 5/5. Japchae: simply amazing. The noodle wasn't overly oily, the noodles weren't too sticky, and the veggies weren't under-seasoned. Japchae as a dish in general has a low ceiling but this dish hit all the high marks. 5/5. Spicy pork and LA Galbi were both 4/5. One thought the Galbi were a bit heavy on the sweet flavor. Came here with a friend one night for dinner for some Korean food, was impressed with the variety of dishes they offer! There wasn't anyone dining in at the time, so I assume they do a lot of carry out orders. Service was friendly though, and provided us with refills on our banchan side dishes when we asked. I decided to go with the Pork Cutlet Kimbap as I've been craving a good Korean sushi roll, and we don't have many places to get them in my area. It was nicely sized, and packed with a good amount of veggies and meat. The taste on its own didn't particularly wow me, but it was a good portion to fill me up, and with the sauce it's pretty tasty! The place is very dark colored, even during a bright sunny weekday afternoon. There were patrons even at lunch. The service was actually very not bad. This was our first time ordering from here, we got vege dumplings, vege spring rolls, Spicy Vege Korean Ramen and Spicy Vege Tan Tan Ramen. Unfortunately, the food tasted below average - all the flavors were lacking and was not spicy at all. The tan tan ramen had traces of meat in it, despite ordering for vegetarian option only. This killed the appetite even further and we weren't even able to eat half of the pirtion(s). The prices are more on the higher side and it sucks to spend $50 dollar and have to throw all the food away. I was searching for take out when I came across this place. I looked over the menu and I have to say I could have easily ordered a lot more food than what I did. Everything sounded so good. The steamed beef dumplings were the hit of the show. The wrapper was just perfect. The filling flavorful. I could have eaten 5 more orders! The Bulgolgi rice balls were a good size, the texture of the rice was not mushy..I wish it had more bulgolgi in it though. I also got a large order of the chicken wings...half soy garlic, half spicy. Yum! So crunchy! Next time I think I would try the extra spicy because for me the spicy was not too spicy.. The loser of the show were the seafood pancakes. I ordered from them through DoorDash. I ordered the vegetable spring rolls and the miso ramen with chasu (pork). Both were very good! The vegetable spring rolls were perfectly crispy and had a really good flavor! The miso ramen wasn't the best I have had, but it wasn't bad. Brisket wraps are microscopic and not at all worth the cost of them. I truly adore this place. Absolutely delicious Korean food. I don't live around Stone Ridge, but I was house sitting in the area for a month and I enjoyed every single time I could eat their food. (Delivery or Dine-In!) I truly wished I live closer to eat here on a more regular basis. I had a bibimbop bowl with galbi and everything was just delicious. Such a variety of texture and tastes that worked so well together that every bite was different and absolutely satisfying! I've also had their fried chicken which was at the perfect temperature, perfect crunch, the perfect inner tenderness, and just a delicious taste that I've ordered it for delivery many times! What can I say... it is nice to finally have a decent Korean restaurant in the South Riding/Aldie area. Taste of Korea is our favorite but all the way down 50... and sometime you just don't want to fight the traffic! It's a bit hidden and the address is misleading to say Chantilly because it's near Stone Springs hospital. It is a large space and very open with a nice bar. They definitely have more traditional Korean dishes than the typical Korean wing place... everything from yookgaejjang, Gomtang, udong etc. Kids will enjoy the fried pork cutlets (don katsu). But their wings are amazing! Soy garlic for those that can't handle the heat, mild spicy for those who like general Tso's type heat... and for the adventurous the hot spicy ... it will hurt (now and later)... If I can speak to the bulgogi burger... I liked everything about it except that the meat wasn't ground up and made into a patty! That would make it 1000x better. I hope they make the change. The spicy pork and octopus dish is delicious and we would get that with the wings! *tip... order the wings right when you sit down... they make it fresh to order and you want the order in while you look at the menu to order other items. NOTE 1: While the physical address is in Chantilly, this is really the Aldie, VA area, just a bit further west from South Riding. NOTE 2: Do yourself a favor and DO NOT order takeout unless absolutely necessary. It absolutely makes a world of difference to eat it hot and fresh at the restaurant. On opening night, I just had to try the chicken. The wife placed a small (10-piece) order of wings and I picked them up on my way back from work. The drive back home was tough because the strong and sweet smell of wings filled the car and by the time I got back I was eager to dig in. They were good. I think they could have been a little crispier (see Note 2 above), but certainly nothing to gripe about. I don't think it's as sweet as the "other place", which I like. The owner of this place is also the same owner as "Chi Mc" in Annandale and Chantilly (Korean for Chicken and Beer), so certainly they know how to make chicken. SOMAC pronounced so-mek...as in Soju (Korean alcoholic spirits) and Maekju (beer) is essentially a popular term in Korea for a beer cocktail or a Boilermaker that's mixed together. This is typically something that Korean professionals drink during their "happy hours" -- so not exactly the veritable "friendly neighborhood Korean restaurant" vibe. Website also advertises "authentic" yet the sign says "fusion" which is a little confusing. Not a big deal since the food tastes good! Definitely looking forward to being a regular patron. Extra points for offering free Dduk-mandoo-gook for New Years. read more

Their boneless chicken bites are slightly sweeter marinade than that of Bonchon, but a lot more in quantity and love the slices almond toppings. Their menu in general also offer more variety of traditional Korean dishes like Soon tofu stew and lunch special bentos. Their dining room is spacious and socially distanced and very clean. Enjoyed our time here! Came with 2 friends and got the XL combo chicken (around 30 pieces?) for the 3 of us and it was plenty! The chicken takes 35 mins to cook which is usual for these Korean fried chicken places and well worth the wait for fresh chicken. We also ordered peach cocktail soju and parmesan fries for the table and both were excellent!! Chicken came out hot & steamy! There drumsticks were huge!!! Much bigger pieces in general than what we're received at bonchon & chi mc lately. We ordered half soy garlic and half spicy. The spicy was spicy so that was good and the soy garlic was savory and not too salty!! The skin is less "puffy" than bonchon or chi mc from my observations and more flat but I prefer it this way because you really don't need too much fried skin. I like that they also weren't super oily... Sometimes when I have bonchon it's so saucy and oily it makes my fingers pruney by the time we're done eating loll. It also came with a side of pickled daikon. We had 4 drumsticks left over and they actually toasted quite nicely for lunch the next day. With appetizers, drinks, and XL order of chicken our total came to about $65, which is about $21 per person. We were thrilled with the price because at bonchon we would be paying around $25-30 a person with just an XL order and alcohol, no apps. My boyfriend actually prefers this place over bonchon for taste & price but we think we'll keep Chi mc in our rotation cause it's a classic. My only wishes are that it is closer to where we live!!! I really hate giving negative reviews, but the food I got here was just not good, and I genuinely don't understand the current 4-star average rating. I grew up eating plenty of korean food and was confused when 70% or more of the bibimbap's vegetables consisted of raw lettuce, raw cabbage, and raw kale instead of something like the usual stir-fried spinach, bean sprouts, cucumbers, carrots, etc. There was some stir-fried zucchini that was fine, but there were so many raw vegetables in the overall dish that it tasted more like a salad than a rice dish with stir-fried vegetables. I also didn't get any sesame oil (only the red sauce with gochujang) in my takeout container, so I had to add that myself. I don't actually mind raw vegetables with rice and bibimbap sauce if it's done well, but I only really see that in hwedupbap (raw fish with raw vegetables, rice, and bibimbap sauce). I've had bibimbap from probably 20-30 korean restaurants in my life and never experienced one that had 70% raw vegetables. The spicy chicken that was added to the bibimbap was also a bit strange - the spicy sauce on it almost seemed like it was added to the chicken after it was cooked (or very late in the cooking process). I feel like spicy chicken usually has more flavor embedded into the meat itself while the spicy sauce for this chicken sort of sat on the outside of the meat only. My friend's gamjatang had little meat and 50% as much flavor as the gamjatangs I've had at other restaurants. Abbae Soondae in Chantilly has really solid gamjatang if you want to taste a super, super solid gamjatang. Lastly, I know I'm being somewhat of a food purist with this statement, but I just do not think raw spinach belongs in japanese ramen. I really can't imagine any sort of ramen soup base where raw spinach improves the ramen. I know the korean food selection in South Ridge is pretty sparse, but I'd highly recommend trying the korean restaurants in Chantilly and Centreville to get a taste of solid korean food. read more

We trekked out 45 minutes (we live in Fairfax Station, VA) to check out the new Chicken and Beer place everyone was talking about (We love our Korean Chicken and Beer). We got the large order of wings (20 wings for $24)--half soy garlic, half spicy. The wings had a "bonchon" taste and feel. They are HUGE. 3 of us could NOT finish all of it. The sweet potato fries are BOMB and the Sapporo draft beer is SO GOOD (way better than ChiMc in Centereville--horrible draft beer). Unfortunately, the service was not up to par. First, they seemed understaffed. I had to get up and get more condiments, napkins, and the check. We were never checked on. It's also very hard to flag down a waiter. After ordering a pitcher of beer, chicken, and French fries we were going to order other food (i.e yukgaejang)...just to try. But it was too hard to flag the waiter and it seemed like it would take forever...so we just went up and asked for the check. It was empty when we came around 6:30pm on a Friday night--maybe 2 other parties ( 1 family of 4 and 1 couple).It started picking up around 7:30-8pm. They seemed to have a lot of to go orders. People also seemed to be ordering other foods such as udon or stir fry dishes rather than the chicken. All in all, I'm sad to say...but I don't think we'll make the trek out here again for this. Great service but the dishes fell flat, and some were overpriced. Went here with the family for lunch. We ordered the boneless chicken (mild) to split, and I had the the bulgogi burger. One thing I think they did that's unique is offer 3 levels of heat (none, medium, hot), as opposed to the other korean fried chicken joints out there that offer 2 options: flavorful or burn your tongue off. The 3 levels is definitely a step forward. The breading was crisp and crunchy just like you'd expect; however, the sauce was VERY sweet. It tastes a bit like a sweet thai chili sauce with strong hints of cinnamon. I can see some people loving it, but it just wasn't to our taste. I should have asked, but I'm wondering if this was not their soy garlic sauce. With a different sauce, this dish could have been a completely different experience. As for the bulgogi burger, it was pretty underwhelming for $12. Flavors were good, but it was quite small. The meat was some combination of hamburger patty and bulgogi. The bun was dry and didn't really add flavor. The pineapple was a nice touch, and tasted fine. Overall, the burger itself was unremarkable. The fries very pretty good as well: crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. In spit of the meh experience, we'll still be back in the hopes that we'll find better value and flavors on the menu.
