Hoping this restaurant has longevity / success / expansion- the chef seems very humble and deserves it. We ordered and he told us it'd take 15 minutes. You can hear he sets a timer for the pasta and I heard him blend up the sauce for the next customer. It was two tables inside and 2 outside with 2-3 chairs each. On a summer day it's nicer to sit outside cuz inside is pretty hot. But outside there's no covered porch so u might be in the sun. Great portions, food is not heavy, pasta was amazing. He'll ask you if u want it cooked Al dente or soft, ask if Parmesan on top is ok. same questions he asks each customer. He gets a lot of call ins/delivery orders. This small hidden gem popped up on Yelp when we were looking for a spot for lunch last Friday. When I asked the gentleman at the counter if the pasta in his cases were made on location, he confirmed. After hearing this, my husband proceeded to order the Rosa pasta with a side of chicken. I had ordered out from a cafe across the lot and we reconvened at one of the two circular outdoor tables outside Solo. After taking a bite of pasta Rosa, I have to say, I had entree envy! It was delicious! Creamy, balanced and seasoned just right! When I bit into the fettuccine it had a slight chew to it which made me believe that it recently made. While I did think the portion was a tad small for the price but the flavor of the sauce was phenomenal! In fact, I scraped the box with a fork just so I could get every last bit! A few notes: No bathrooms. Three bench seats inside. Two simple tables outside with patio chairs. This is a takeout joint. There are a few counter seats if you do want to eat there, which I did because I was stopping to eat on my way to work, but it's not particularly comfortable because the place is so small. The pasta was very good though. I had maccheroni pasta in norma sauce. It wasn't quite as expected because the picture I saw online showed the ricotta dolloped on top of the pasta, but it was served already mixed into the sauce. Very tasty though, if a little salty. The sauce tasted freshly made and I liked the roasted eggplant pieces on top rather than mixed into the sauce. The pasta was very good. You can specify if you like it al dente or soft. I hade mine al dente, and it was nice and tender. There was just one worker there and it seemed like they were keeping busy with delivery orders, but my pasta was ready in a very timely manner for being cooked to order. read more

Here is a pasta paradise for me!!!! I love their freshly homemade pasta soooo much! No joke! You gotta come here and try it yourself. I came here twice. I didn't take pictures the first time. I did the second time and I am posting them here. You can see the restaurant is very small inside and they have a couple of tables and chairs outside the restaurant. The name of the restaurant is called "Solo" Pasta. It really runs it by one staff! Solo! The only server here made the pasta by using the pasta machine. Different sauces were cooked and ready to serve the customers. I ordered chicken fettuccini and bolognese spaghetti that were recommended by the server here. Both the pasta fettuccini and spaghetti themselves were SOOOOO GOOD already! The texture was chewy and I could taste how fresh the pasta was. It was very different from the dry pasta that I bought from supermarkets! The pasta plus sauces and cheese as well as meat made the dishes SOOO PERFECT!! It's so addicted!!! I would like to buy more and eat more but I was soooo full already. I would definitely come back here and try other dishes. I highly recommend others to come try the pasta. I actually really enjoyed my pasta from solo pasta and would definitely go back. I never find myself ordering pasta in as I always feel you can just make this yourself at home but I've had it twice now and genuinely enjoy it and you get a big portion!! Bad reviews can hurt a business but hopefully this review will help it. CONCEPT: Pick a sauce, Pick a Pasta, mend the two and serve. Easy, quick pasta. How bad can you mess it up? Apparently, pretty bad. My problem with it was that when I got home to eat my takeout, the three orders that my family and I expected to enjoy were not properly prepared. I thought they would have cooked the pasta then added it to a pan and slowly incorporated the sauce and some pasta water with Parmesan in order to coat all the pasta and create a rich sauce. Instead. The pasta was cooked, sauce added over top in a container, and the extra toppings made it nowhere near the bottom. Does this place even know how to marry pasta and sauce? Could've been the specific cook that night. I went on 2/16 at 11pm. read more

What a fantastic hole in the wall! Definitely takes it to another level. Good, affordable pasta, is hard to find in Vancouver, but this place certainly satisfies all my pasta cravings. I have to travel to the other side of town, but it's worth the gas. I've tried the rose and bolognese sauces so far, and my favourite is the latter. There was plenty of sauce, and I even ended up with extra after the noodles were gone. You know it's tasty when even my mother, who doesn't care for pasta, likes it. Out of curiosity and for research purposes, I may have to try all the sauces. I'm a light eater, so I could make 2-3 meals out of one serving. Definitely a good deal for me. The berry panna cotta is nice too and the tiramisu sounds yummy, so I'll try it the next time. Since it's reasonably priced, extra toppings are fun to add. I always add mushrooms, and you get a lot! It comes piping hot and it's hard not to dig into it right away. There's two little tables outside to sit if you can't wait to get home to eat it. PS Don't wear white when eating. my friend and i stopped here for lunch after a long day of travelling, and this is easily some of the best pasta i've ever had. i'm a total pasta fiend, and have been looking for a new go-to place and this is definitely it. the service is incredible, they are so sweet and generous, and while it is small, it is so cozy and the outdoor patio is perfect. 10/10, beautiful and wonderful all around, highly recommend read more

It was a good cheap pasta place with splendid flavour and taste. Got the rosa and the bolognese. Both of the sauce were good but the rosa in my opinion is better. For $10 for the amount it was very worth it. I eat a lot but i couldnt finish mine so kept it for my next meal. For the price and the taste, this place is very recommended for some pasta! My boyfriend and I recently ordered from this take out pasta place. What a fantastic little spot! Sadly there's little space inside to stand (and one wants that space with Covid even wearing a mask) but awesomely one can determine what one wants by peeping in the window at the menu. I ordered the fresh macchini (long penne style) and my boyfriend the fettuccini. I ordered the Quattro cheese and my boyfriend the tomato sauce mixture with kalamata olives as a topping. These pastas were made fresh and it tastes like it! We loved and devoured our dinners at home and will certainly be ordering again. Perhaps they'll consider adding spicy chorizo? ;) read more

Excellent, authentic pasta at an affordable price point. The focus here is on the actual pasta and sauce. Quattro Formaggio tasted like an upscale mac and cheese. Delicious. Fruit de Mer had good flavor. For $13.95 though, it's a good deal. Spaghetti Bolognese was my favorite. There's nothing quite like truly freshly made, freshly cooked spaghetti. The texture of the noodle was amazing. However, even after just 20 minutes, the noodles become too soft after soaking in the sauce. So, try to eat it soon. I'm looking forward to trying the other sauces and pastas. I've had similar pasta for twice the cost in Vancouver. Portion size was good. I liked the chinese takeout style paper boxes. Very sensible. No indoor seating. There are some seats outside, but no covering for the rain. You can also find them on SkiptheDishes and UberEats. Extremely happy that a fresh pasta Italian place opened in Marpole. Something to accompany Gigi Biln, the beloved italian cafe. Solo Pasta reminds me of pasta I got when I was in Italy - in a little paper box that you can eat on the go. Service is always very friendly here, and the pasta is reasonably priced. Pesto conchiglie (big shell) with fried onions on top is P and I's go to pick up dishes. We have also tried their pomodoro (vegetarian tomato sauce) which was fine, and their seafood one ( fruitti de mare) which was fine as well. Salmon cream was really delicious as well but extremely oily. The only thing about the pasta here is that with the oil based sauces, the pastas are extremely oily - Tasty, but definitely rolling in oil. But for a little treat once in a while, it's fantastic. We also absolutely adore their tiramisu, it's ... perfect. Super coffee drenched and fluffy and everything a tiramisu should be. read more

This place used to be amazing but now it's a disaster. They don't write down anything so naturally they mess up orders all the time. One member of the staff is very rude and doesn't seem to give a damn. DO NOT go here if you have any dietary restrictions. Ended up eating meat for the first time in years (vegetarian) because they served me bolognaise when I asked for rosa. They insisted they confirmed bolognaise but had not confirmed any part of my order, which I thought was strange. Had to come all the way back to get the right pasta and my stomach was so messed up by that point I couldn't even eat it. I emailed management and never got a reply. This place is an absolute disaster and should be avoided at all costs. read more

I am so impressed! I got the alfredo and the bolognese pasta. Both were perfectly al dente and so flavorful. The sauce coated the pasta really well and the portions are quite big despite the small looking container. I also got the tiramisu and it was perfection. I highly recommend this place. read more

I picked up my orders in person. The first time I ordered Fettuccine Alfredo it was surprizingly good for such a tiny operation. I was impressed. Great for the neighbourhood and repeat business from me. The so disappointing second time was inedible - way too salty, I tried cutting the dish with other pasta but no, it was garbage time. I called and they were going to tell the manager who was not there. They did not ask for my contact information. If I try them again, I will ask to taste my order before they pack it. I should leave one star as they were nice and food fairly fast as well. I gave three stars because of the first order which was so good. read more
