It's worth the wait. My friends and I stood in line for the first seating (about 45 mins). We went the last week of November in 2024. The food and service were excellent. Took us right back to Italy. Definitely stop by if you have the time to wait or like I've observed from others, they put their name down for the next seating.

I lined up outside the restaurant full of anticipation 45 minutes prior to opening with sky high expectations. Yet, somehow, I underestimated the caliber of quality in both the food and service. I went with the tasting of 4 pastas and each and every dish delivered. The orecchiette was the SINGLE BEST PASTA I've had in my entire life. The sweet and mildly acidic sauce, the toothiness of the al dente shells - it was culinary heaven. I conveyed my delight to my waitress and not too long after was gifted a 5th pasta on the house! I exchanged a dorky thumbs up w/ the dude prepping the pastas - wholesome moment ngl. The music was choice, the vibes were immaculate, the food was 10/10 with some 12/10 moments sprinkled in, and the staff was attentive and went the extra mile. So, so grateful to have found this spot on a quick visit to Vancouver - it was the culinary highlight above St. Lawrence and Savio Volpe. Run, don't walk!!

Ah! I waited to too long to try this place but I am glad we finally came here 2 weeks ago. Their pasta is seriously al dente and actually would put all the other al dente pasta out to shame. We had the tasting menu. 4 pasta, all amazing and a starter plus dessert. It was overall a great experience. Look forward to coming back soon.

food: comes up top when it comes to satisfying food experiences I have had in van. And I have had a lot of these experiences. Out of respect for the establishment, will keep the special menu secret. I do have a hand script. That takes me to the next section Service: friendly staff, feels like home, they are not shy to ask how they doing and how the patrons are feeling, rest assured, we feel magnificent Ambiance: be prepared to wait, before coming on into the restaurant, by set, the restaurant can host two services per night, the pace of service is synchronized across tables, so no one is left out

We got the tasting menu and this was definitely some of the best pasta I've had in my life. It was fresh, perfectly al dente, and coated in really delicious sauces. The appetizers and dessert were also outstanding. However, the portion sizes were quite small; we both left feeling hungry and had to get a pizza after. All dishes pictured were shared except for the ravioli. It's worth knowing this going in - I read the other reviews and assumed each picture was for an individual. Nevertheless, the quality was outstanding but I'm not sure I'll be back as regardless of how good it tastes, it's a lot of money to pay to leave hungry.

Despite having to line up before they open, whenever someone asks where my favourite pasta is in Vancouver, I always think of Oca. We have done the tasting menu in the past, and have also ordered a la carte, everything I've tried here is delicious and never disappoints. The servers are knowledgeable in their menu and their wines, and the ambiance here is definitely cute for a date night or a small group dinner. Can't wait to be back!

I love this restaurant. We have the set menu, with several courses, plated to share between two. I loved every single dish, great flavors and beautifully presented. Service was great, and restaurant is small and intimate. For the number of courses I think it was good value, and worth it for the quality of food.

The restaurant is located next to a fire station, sushi takeout and indoor bike gym. You can park in the underground pay lot shared between a hotel and public. The restaurant interior is pleasant and inviting, like dining in a rustic mansion. Restrooms are located on the upper level. The service was great and food was excellent overall - just one minor ding. Overall 4 stars. 1. Absolutely share the Octopus Mosaic, a carpaccio-preparation of paper-thin octopus fused together like chain mail armor, and bursting with flavor from the limoncello dressing. High protein and low carb too (5 stars) 2. Romaine salad was fresh and had light dressing with a quail egg snuck underneath. (4 stars) 3. No kid's menu here but they do offer half-sized entree portions with modifications. We got the rigatoni with butter parmesan and our son eventually ate half of it. He was probably still full from lunch. 4. The lobster-prosciutto stuffed chicken breast was skin-on and cooked perfectly. Very hearty dish, with veggies and gnocchi to add some carbs for balance. 5. Wife got the Branzino filet in Veloute sauce. Fish was cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. The minor ding is that a few hours after dinner my wife was getting super thirsty. It was either dehydration or maybe there was more sodium than expected. Vietnamese fish sauce has a similar effect on her. Anyways, it was an excellent dish when we ate it. Also, they had this awesome beet puree on the side which our son loved. He eventually ate some of my chicken when slathered with the beet puree. Kids and their quirky appetites...

We started with the mussels ($28) and tomatoes ($38) as appetizers, and both were very good and a great way to start the meal. For our entrées, three of us ordered the Veal Scallopine ($39 each / $117 total), including myself, and I thought it was excellent. My colleagues who ordered it felt the same way. Our table also had the Ravioli di Dauphine ($35), Risotto Bianco ($21), and Apple & Endive Salad ($23). One person in our group unfortunately did not care for their meal, which is really the only reason I'm giving Italian Kitchen four stars rather than five. We also had a Pasta Feature ($38) during the meal. For drinks, we had a Coke ($6), Old Fashioned ($17), a bottle of Antinori "Le Mortelle Botrosecco" Cabernet ($95), three Stanley Park Lagers ($27 total), and an Americano ($5.50). We finished with dessert, including the Dessert Feature (complimentary) and Cheesecake ($14). The desserts were very good and made for a nice ending to the evening. Just as importantly, the service was excellent throughout the entire dinner. Our server was attentive and professional, and we were very well taken care of. Our subtotal for five people was $428.50 CAD, and the total after taxes was $464.04 CAD before gratuity. Overall, I thought Italian Kitchen was very good. With the exception of the one meal that didn't hit the mark for one of our fellow diners, we had a very positive experience. I particularly enjoyed the veal scallopine and would definitely order it again. I would certainly return to Italian Kitchen on a future trip to Vancouver.

I sat inside and the felt like I was in a cozy Italian cafe. Light music, warm lighting, immaculate vibes. The service is incredible. The two servers on tonight made sure that our glass of water was full throughout the meal. Now the food. THE FOOD. Started off with the sourdough bread and an order of meatballs. The sourdough was hot and soft but held its shape when dipping into olive oil and vinegar or when using to scoop sauce off a plate. The meatballs were tender and fresh. There was a bit of a wait between the appetizers and entrees (this is NOT a detriment, just bear with me), and when we got our pastas, they were the freshest I've had in a long time. The sign in front of the restaurant advertised fresh pasta and did NOT disappoint. We ordered the pesto dish with chicken and the gnocchi with chicken and both dishes were INCREDIBLE!! Absolutely blew us away. Finished off the meal with a lemoncello shot and it went down so smooth, I wouldn't have realized it had alcohol in it if I didn't know that beforehand. Gastown lured us in, but when we return, it will be for Robba Da Matti.

We absolutely loved their house-made pasta during that visit, so we knew we had to return and explore more of the menu. Ambiance - 4/5 One of the things we appreciate most about this restaurant is the outdoor seating. On a beautiful day, it's a wonderful place to enjoy a meal, especially if you're dining with a dog. Being able to relax outside with our pup made for a very enjoyable experience. Service - 3/5 Service was friendly, but not quite as attentive as during our previous visit. Our server was pleasant, though there were a few missed opportunities to enhance the experience. For example, we weren't informed that alcohol could not be served in the outdoor dining area until after we had already started looking at the drink menu while we were in the middle of dining. Food - 4/5 The highlight of this restaurant continues to be its house-made pasta. The texture is wonderfully chewy and perfectly cooked, giving each dish a freshness that's difficult to find elsewhere. This visit, we tried the mushroom tagliatelle with truffle rosé sauce. While the description sounded incredible, the dish didn't quite live up to our expectations. It was enjoyable, but we still preferred the bolognese from our previous visit and cacio e pepe from this visit, both of which showcased the pasta more effectively. We also ordered the gnocchi, which was well prepared and satisfying to certain extent, but it didn't surpass our favorite one from San Francisco. The pesto sauce was just okay. If we order the gnocchi again, we'd likely try it with a tomato-based sauce instead. Overall Value - 4/5 This restaurant offers excellent value, particularly for pasta lovers. The quality of the house-made pasta alone makes it worth a visit, and there are still several dishes on the menu we're eager to try. We're already looking forward to returning and exploring more of what the kitchen has to offer.

When I arrived, I was told that I hadn't booked an outdoor table and that I would have to wait if I wanted to be seated with my dog. What made the situation especially frustrating was that there were several tables available. There were three four-person tables occupied by only two people each, and they had literally just sat down and still had their menus. I asked if it would be possible to separate one of the tables, but the host immediately said no because they were "eating dinner." They clearly hadn't started their meal yet. She even mentioned that the tables would normally be separated, but that it was "too late" to do it now. Unfortunately, I was in a rush and couldn't wait, so I had to leave without dining. What disappointed me most wasn't just the seating issue, but the host's attitude. Her facial expressions and tone were dismissive and made me feel like I was being unreasonable for simply asking a question. Overall, it was a really disappointing and disrespectful experience. Good customer service is about trying to find solutions, not making guests feel unwelcome. Based on this experience, I won't be returning and won't be recommending Tavola to my friends.
