Don't no where to start went on a Friday night place was packed but I had reservations so we did not have to wait. The place is always very lively and fun My date and I had the all you can eat parade of meat oh my god I willl be full for days My brother and his date had a salad and split a pellea more than enough for both of them The food was fresh and they did not rush us A great place to go for parties or just a fun time stuffing your face

Came to Solar Do Minho for the first time for a late lunch/early dinner at 3pm on Saturday. It was pretty much empty until later on around 5pm. They had valet parking, and there is some street parking. Street parking might be a little difficult when it is busy. I did not see what the other side looked like, but the tables were all able to see the cooks cooking the meat, and the seating area was not so big. My table ordered a few dishes including ribs, churrasco mixto, fix, and soup. 3 of us also got the rodizio. It took about 40 minutes for the food to come out. Overall the food was good and came in big portions. The chips that came with the fish were a bit soggy. The rodizio included a large variety, which we did see all of the options until more people started coming in after us. The rodizio came with fries, rice, and a fried banana. Every cut of meat was flavorful and tender. The only tough one was the filet mignon, and the chicken was dry. It was interesting that they asked each of how we would like our meat to be cooked (I ordered medium), despite it all coming out only how one person asked (my brother asked for it medium rare). I was okay with how it was cooked, but I did not see a point in asking everyone individually if we were all going to get the same ones. When we're paying it was a bit awkward because the waiter insisted that we "lost" the 4th check, but we counted and made sure before we handed it to him.

It's been a while since I came here. Everyone enjoyed their meal. My Gambas were ok. Nothing spectacular. But the fish plates , the othered kept raving about it. Our server was very attentive and had our to go order ready when we left. It wasn't crowded yet for a Sunday.

Came here for lunch with friends and ordered: Paella Valenciana, Octopus with Olive Oil (Polvo a Feira), Skirt Steak (Entranha), Fillet of Flounder, Churrasco Misto. The highlight of the place was the skirt steak. It was amazing, cooked properly, and juicy. The presentation was superb as well. All the portion were big and we had leftover for a party of 4. The ambiance was superb and they allowed and accommodated us having a lovely dog as one of our companions. I'd say amazing service Street parking might be limited but shouldnt stop you from checking out this place and enjoying its food offering. One thing that I disagree on this place is that it didnt allow Rodizio and Picanha to be shared. Perhaps we should come another time and everyone order these dishes...

We have been here twice in two weeks, and we absolutely love it. Three of us get Rodizio and three of us get regular meals. Now let me say that the service is amazing, we have had Larissa both times and she is always happy and ready to help. She is very quick. The Rodizio is prepared specifically for your table and what we really like is that they don't just bring it out fast, they bring it out when your entire party has their food as well. So everyone eats together! The restaurant is nice, well lit, and a full filled atmosphere. I highly recommend! We will be back soon. For reference my 9 year old loves Rodizio never had shrimp before, ate shrimp here for the first time, ate a chicken heart, and everything is full of flavor. Larissa is amazing, and quick to give recommendations. Our party last night who didn't get Rodizio, had pork chops, chicken stew and steak. 100/10 recommend!

Service and venue very nice. Food meh for the price. Ordered the cod fish solar Do Minh which is a giant piece of cod fish deep fried and the. Smothered in red sauce and bell peppers. The sauce excellent. The fish stayed in the deep frier too long and turned to leather. Great concept not great execution.

We hit Solar Do Minho last night for my 50th birthday and they did not disappoint. Luckily we got there just in time as we did not have reservations and it got crowded very quickly. This is at 7pm on a Thursday evening. We started with a pitcher of sangria. It was very well made and the amount they give you seemed bottomless. The pitcher is huge. My wife and I never have a problem taking care of a pitcher of sangria and this just seemed to never stop flowing. For an appetizer, we got the calamari. Excellent with a little spicy marinara sauce on the side. Myself, my wife and our older son got the Rodizio which came with white rice, black beans and yellow rice with red beans. They just keep coming around. Steaks, chicken, turkey wrapped in bacon, Lamb, ribs, sausage. You won't leave hungry. Our youngest got the filet mignon which they finish off on a Portuguese tile at the table with butter and of course for his sides, he opted for a double Order of fries. It looked excellent and very tender and being that he ate it all, it must've been good. For dessert, I went with the dulce de leche and a cappuccino with a shot of 43. How else could you end the night?

Excellent food! My favorites were the pasta with seafood in a white sauce, and the picanha. The paella with seafood and sausage was good too. Octopus appetizer was tender. Skirt steak on the tile was interesting! Order it rare-medium rare as they will keep cooking on the tile. Portions are huge!

Is there a bathroom in your downstairs seating area?

Yes

Would I need a reservation during the week?

Hello! We always recommend reservations! Please call 973-844-0500. Thank you

Is it BYOB?

They have a full bar. Pretty great selection too.

Is this reservation only? I went around 11:30 and it was closed but it said open till 2 am?

It's not but if you go without one during prime time you could wait good 45 min. I have found its best to just make a reservation in advance.

We were seated quickly and our server Hugo promptly came over to take our order and was very attentive all night. We started with the Crab meat stuffed portobello, which was terrific. Would have liked it without the creamy cheese on top (not sure what kind it was)... but only because as much as I LOVE cheese... it loves me too much back. ;-) My wife was going for the Mariscada in green sauce, but after she asked "what's your favorite?" Hugo said she should try a Seafood special with rice that was enormous, served in a very nice Le Creuset style pot. (Lobster, shrimp, with and without heads, clams, calamari, mussels in an excellent sauce.) I ordered the roasted short ribs (slow roasted with potatoes and broccoli rabe) that also was huge. I'll be finishing that up today! We had to try their Pastel da Nata, a Portuguese signature dessert that we enjoyed almost every day in Portugal. This is a tavern, so no BYO. Oh, and I suggest you come early. Almost no one around 5:30 - 6, but by the time we left, it was getting really busy. Looking for an excuse to stop in again soon.

For us, this restaurant is a nice alternative to traveling into the Ironbound section of Newark (…read morewhich we love, BTW) and has a loyal following from what I've gathered hearing about this place for many years. For us, a bit of a hit-and-miss experience: steak very good, paella - not as good. Given that both types of dishes are staples at Portuguese restaurants , we were a bit surprised. Worth another visit? Yes - want to try their other paella to learn if maybe this was just a fluke experience tonight.

I immediately brought the issue to the waiter's attention, yet no one from management came over to speak with me or apologize for what happened. What was even more disappointing was that I was not offered another meal or given the opportunity to order something else. When a customer is served food that is clearly unacceptable, I would expect management to take the situation seriously, check on the customer, apologize, and make an effort to correct it. Unfortunately, none of that happened. The food itself was bad enough, but the lack of concern and customer service afterward made the experience even worse. I expected much more from this restaurant.

They had a wide variety of food, all ranging from beef, pork, chicken, seafood, and some vegetarian options. They had an extensive wine menu, and my boyfriend joyfully enjoyed a glass of wine. I got the brazilian fried chicken, which was extremely flavorful, and i was surprised there wasn't any breading on the chicken as typical fried chicken does. I much preferred the no-breading style, which I think is the Brazilian way. I would have preferred a boneless dish, as there were quite a few pieces with bones, and it was pretty oily at the bottom of the dish. It came with two very large sides, and totaled around $25. 100% would recommend this dish, but I do think at a lower price point, this could make do with just one side, instead of two, as the main dish was quite large enough to fill me up. My favorite part of this meal was the garlic butter bread that they provide for free. It comes out extremely fresh with lots of chopped up garlic, which is my favorite part of garlic bread. It was a great way to start the dinner off. The service was great and the waiters were extremely attentive. They regularly checked up on how we felt about the food and filled up our drinks. The restaurant was pretty empty while we were dining, but the space was laid out very nicely and the decor was beautiful. Would come again if it wasn't so far!

But you go to a restaurant for the food. And my food was a 2 with the wind behind it. I had the Chicken Extremena, which is chicken filets with onions, red peppers, potatoes and Spanish sausage. Yes, all those ingredients were in the dish. It was too salty although it did have a bit of a kick. All in all, the ingredients didn't blend well, it sort of seemed like they were thrown together and doused in a generic . A friend had the Veal Corunesa, which is veal and mushrooms sauteed in brandy sauce. She stated that a fine piece of veal was cut into little pieces, overcooked and swimming in brandy sauce. Now, the people who ordered the pan fried filet of fish and the pork chops had good meals. But the chef should be able to do something other than panfry and broil. Last point, I had a chocolate brownie with walnuts and vanilla ice cream for dessert. I am know for my proclivity to eat anything chocolate. I took a bite of a dry brownie and ate the vanilla ice cream. I heard the tiramisu was good. But I didn't have the tiramisa. Service was prompt, surroundings pleasant. So here's the deal. The quality of the food was too erratic to be three stars. The entertainment was very pleasant, so averaging a 4 + 2 equals 3. I have no desire to go back and try again. There are so many good Spanish restaurants in Essex County even outside of the Ironbound that going here for a dinner just seems to be a waste.

I had the Mini-Quibe de Carne e Queijo (Beef Kibbeh) for an appetizer. How the Chef managed to get the spice to meat tenderness ratio so perfectly, I'll never know but will always be grateful for. I tried the Cajá juice and loved it! My (huge) entree, the Estrogonofe (Chicken Stroganoff), was recommended to me by my server, who I trust with all food recommendations now because WOW.
