Two of our friends who've recently been to Morocco frequent this restaurant and suggested we go there, knowing we're also keen on Moroccan cuisine after our 2016 trip there. Arriving before six, we were seated immediately and ordered within mere minutes due to the quintessentially concise menu (and the fact that our friends had tried everything on it). The ambiance is wonderful; its soft colors and textures imbue one with relaxation. For starters, we selected the Flavors of Morocco appetizer. It was excellent, but a bit blander than expected. For mains, I ordered the Chicken Tagine; my wife went with the vegetarian version. The Chicken Tagine was unbelievably tender and moist, with subtle seasoning--quite the opposite of what I experienced in Morocco. My wife absolutely loved her Vegetarian Berber Tagine. Our repeat customer friends each had the Candied Chicken Tagine, their favorite. Three out of four of us opted for the Coffee and Sweets selection, comprising three mini-Napoleons. Only one really piqued my palate; the other two were both very sweet. Next time I'll get the Date and Walnut cake, which was spectacular. It's also big enough for sharing.

Cute Moroccan and French cafe! Croissants both sweet and savory served in the front as well as macaroons. Seating area in the back. We got the savory flakey croissant with ham and eggs- would recommend!

Very pretty ambiance. Fresh flowers on all tables, and with today's weather in the high 70s, the outside patio seating was a dream come true. Owner and staff is friendly and chatty. However we were quite underwhelmed by the food. We got the Moroccan eggs, Lemon chicken sandwich, Lavender latte, Hot chocolate and the Date Walnut cake. The Moroccan eggs lacked salt and any flavor, pretty much tasted like tomatoes and eggs. The chicken as well as the bread in the Lemon chicken sandwich was the driest I have ever had and it didn't have any flavor to it. My husband had to put the tomato gravy from the eggs onto the sandwich to make it palatable. Hot chocolate barely had any chocolate, it was mildly sweetened which I prefer but it was mostly milk with a hint of chocolate. I hate wasting food but the Date walnut cake was so dry that we could barely eat it after maybe forcing 50% of it down our throats. I am not sure what went wrong - was it a bad day or maybe we ordered the wrong items because all the other reviews are glowing and seem like most people enjoy the food here. How I wish my experience was better but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Edit: The owner was sweet enough to reach out and explain some issues they encountered in the kitchen today. I just want put a disclaimer that every restaurant has good and bad days. My review is just a personal opinion based on my experience today. What I can do is request everyone reading this to not let their decision to dine here be influenced by it. I hope to come back and try their food again.

Sofi Corner Cafe offers a warm and inviting ambiance that beautifully blends French and Moroccan influences. The quaint cafe features yellow velvet booths, mosaic-tiled tables, and a cozy outdoor patio decorated with fresh flowers, creating an atmosphere that's both intimate and vibrant . This is an order and pay at the counter and have things delivered to your table. We sat in the outdoor patio, benefited by a low humidity, 70 degree , breezy day and it was heavenly! Moroccan eggs are beautifully done. The Croque Monsieur is delightful and the Dubai chocolate croissant is decadent beyond belief. Really great place. Easily the cleanest restroom for sure, bonus.

The food was delicious and the place itself is gorgeous. We went with a group of 4 and everyone loved what they got. How it works is that you order at the counter and sit down with your number. We had a little blunder where they kept bringing us out the wrong dish, but the owner/manager was very kind and compensated us with a dessert.

I visited with a group of four on Saturday brunch, and the spot lives up to its name as one of the most aesthetic sites in the Gayborhood! You enter from one side to order, then it's a seat-yourself process afterwards in its indoor space. The menu itself has great variety, from pastries and sandwiches to salads and notable French-Moroccan inspired dishes. My order was the Croque Monsieur, which was accompanied by a side salad. I thought my dish was delicious, but felt the prices were on the higher end for the portion size. Their pastries were tasty and I think are more worth the purchase if you're looking for a quicker, small bite. The only setback about our experience was that we weren't told our Parisian bread basket included an almond croissant, which was unfortunate since one of our friends had a nut allergy. The menu listed a butter croissant, and we were told we couldn't substitute and had to order a new pastry, which was a letdown. I think being able to share what's included would be very helpful in advance, since my friend did ask about nut content in the other dishes. Overall, Sofi Corner Cafe makes for a great conversational and brunch spot with an ideal aesthetic. However, expect to run a bit higher on the budget if you're planning for coffee and a full dish.

Wonderful spot we visited for brunch on a Saturday. The inside is well decorated and cozy. Service is friendly and fantastic. You can order and pay at the counter, grab a number and have a seat at a table when it becomes available. The food is brought to you when ready. There is a good selection of food including vegetarian and gluten free options if desired. I tried the feta spinach croissant which was fresh, flaky and hot. People were also having tea and miniature pastries which looked delectable. I'll definitely be back to try more another time.

Moroccan food meets Philadelphia. This cozy yet delicious restaurant is a must try! We've been eyeing f it up for the past 2 weeks and every time we walk by it's packed! After about a 30 minute wait, we were able to get a table for 2! We had items off of the lunch menu and they were so good! The meat was deliciously seasoned and covered in a rich sauce. We also had a pot of mint tea and it was the perfect way to end our meal!

Charming little cafe with excellent food. We had the Moroccan eggs for breakfast, served with a fresh baguette and a side salad.Only one person working as chef and waiter makes it a little slower than optimal but it still was a very good experience.

food: 4/5 - the food we selected were great. Loved the morrocan egg; great texture and enough portion for sharable. - Croque Madame - can def taste the butteriness of the toast. The cheese and ham gave a perfect compliment. Just wished they gave more ham -moroccan mint tea - not cup of tea, no pun intended. It's a good experience to try tho. They have self serve honey/sugar for you to add on. Service: 5/5 - good. The front desk person were knowledgeable and able to provide a few recommendations. Ambiance: 6/5 - absolutely love it. The colors, decor, and furnitures all go together.

We came here on a Saturday night and I just want to start off by praising the staff that evening, they were very attentive and made us feel welcomed. The food was delicious but the portions were very small for the price. The one app combo had one scoop of each eggplants salad and regular salad. Few bites of veggies for $19. We got the lamb couscous, fish tajine and lamb tajine, they were all good but again, $30 plus for a dish is a bit much. Additionally, the place was VERY cold, we kept our jackets on while dining which isn't ideal. Overall it was a good experience.

Second time here and feel like it got better. I have only been here at off hours so I imagine it can get really crowded during peak times and it is only a small space, especially when cold and can't sit outside. Honestly some of the most tasty food I have had in the area.

The lamb itself needed to be trimmed quite a bit, though it was quite tender and had good flavor. The bed of veggies below were a bit bland compared to the apple cider saffron broth that was mentioned on the menu. Both salmon dishes that others at my table got said they were good. The sashimi itself was underwhelming, but the wasabi, ginger, and seaweed added much needed flavor. I also tried the salad, which included sweet beets that weren't mentioned on the menu. The description said roasted, but I couldn't taste that at all. If anything, it tasted more like sweet and pickled flavor. I ordered the Ciuppin next. The server warned me it would be spicy, but it arrived almost completely bland. I had to ask for extra black pepper just to get some flavor. The mussels and shrimp were very good, but the pasta / sauce ratio was off. There wasn't nearly enough sauce to coat the pasta, which left the dish lacking flavor. From the photo, it looks like the sauce would cover everything, but once you start mixing it, you realize it doesn't go far at all. Then I ordered the warm apple cobbler for dessert. I was expecting something baked and comforting. Instead I received uncooked oats mixed with cooked apples and a scoop of ice cream on top. Why is this called warm apple cobbler on the menu? And why didn't they explain in the description that this contains uncooked oats in every bite? I was so disappointed because I don't eat oats and certainly would not have ordered this if I would have known. It resembles a breakfast granola bar rather than a cobbler. It felt lazy and misleading. I paid for my meal using my phone. After I left a tip and completed the transaction, the server told me, "We usually don't accept anything less than 18%," and pointed out that what I left was much lower than what they expect. Then she walked away without another word. Even though the menu clearly states that only applies to parties of six or more. I was dining alone. Tips are earned, and honestly, the food wasn't that good, especially not after being served a trail mix dessert pretending to be cobbler. I was surprised she questioned the amount I chose to leave for a solo meal, especially after everything was already processed. I shouldn't have left anything at all. Tipping is optional, and the experience just didn't earn more. From the outside, it doesn't look like much; in fact, it looks like a bit of a dive from outside. But when you walk in, you are transported. The design of the restaurant is so special - community tables, pillows, tapestries, waterfall features, tiles, and belly dancing. The food was a little inconsistent. We shared many dishes: Bastilla (baked layers of filo dough, eggs, chicken, almonds, sprinkled with cinnamon and powdered sugar); hummus (chickpeas, tahini, crushed garlic, lemon juice, sprinkled with paprika and olive oil, served with pita bread); Spanakopita; salad trio (eggplant salad, cucumber and tomato salad, and carrot salad); lamb tagine (stew of lamb, onions, and roasted peppers topped with honey and served with rice); Moroccan chicken with harissa cumin sauce; mujaddara (cracked bulgur wheat cooked with lentils and caramelized onions); and mint tea. I wish they didn't serve bottled waters, and the food was mostly good but not the most consistent. Our mujaddara wasn't served with the yogurt sauce listed on the menu, and the lamb with the tagine was incredibly fatty, making some of it inedible. The mint tea was really really really sweet - like syrup! I also wish the bastilla had a little less powdered sugar (I like on the dish, but it was A LOT of powdered sugar), and it was quite dry. But the eggplant salad, carrot salad, hummus, and mujaddara (even without the yogurt sauce) were great. I would happily have eaten just those dishes. They were busy - it's a popular place - but service was also a challenge. It took us almost a half hour to get the check and pay. I had to ask for the bill twice and then it still took a while to get it, for it to get picked up, and for it to come back to us. It's pretty bad if I'm considering walking up to the bar to get the check and pay. I loved the ambiance and the character. I loved that you can't tell how amazing it's going to be inside when you see the outside of the building - it's a surprise for sure. I knew I could only enjoy a little knibble of each of the delicious salads that were initial placed on the table. I think I ate all the twice-cooked eggplant. It was so good! The hummus is honestly the best I've ever had, and the laffa bread is such a yummy accompaniment. I had to stop myself from eating too much! I tried the Phyllo-wrapped Haloumi. It was ok, but I liked my dad's Freekeh Arancini better. The Pomegranate Lamb Shoulder is the reason I had to pace myself. This is also one of my favorite lamb dishes that I've ever had. The greens are a nice accomaniment. I didn't care for the crispy rice, and it was the only thing I didn't like. I got the Pecan Konafe for dessert and it was like an exotic pecan pie. Love this! The second I knew I was visiting Philly, I set a reminder on my phone to vie for a reservation. We got a 9:30pm reservation, which was late for my usual dining habits but absolutely no question worth the extra few hours to build up and appetite and anticipate going to such a renowned restaurant. We were met with a beautiful dining room and kind, passionate people at Zahav, especially our bartenders, who made our experience a true EVENT, describing each dish to us even as we were making decisions on the tasting menu, and vouching for the fact that we MUST try the halloumi, which ended up being my favorite dish! Wow, the care that is put into the craft of this food is unreal. Zahav is a true celebration of cuisine. We started with the laffa bread being served straight out of the fire with accompaniments which were absolute flavor bombs, especially the eggplant and pickled cabbage. The bread was warm, soft, and so flavorful in itself but made even better by the hummus-tehina, which was perhaps the smoothest I've ever had. The Pomegranate Lamb Shoulder fell right off the bone, and the Amba-braised Greens and Crispy Persian Rice were side dishes that felt like main events in themselves -- the crispiness of the rice perfectly complemented the pomegranate sauce of the lamb. This was the perfect celebration dinner, and Zahav quickly made it to the top of my list of places that live up to their hype and go above and beyond in the kindness realm.
