Our friends made a reservation for a birthday dinner here. Love the decor and the ambiance of this cozy spot. Everyone was friendly and attentive. Service was great. Food was phenomenal. We started with cocktails and mocktails. 3 of us selected the prix fix menu. The tuna pasteles were flavorful, dipping sauce was yummy. Our table ordered Grilled Branzino, Mixed Suya Brochettes and the Haricot Sauté. We asked for some homemade hot sauce- which is and so good! Everyone loved their selections. We had one of each of the desserts- house fruit salad, banana flambés & carmelized pineapple. We raved to our friends about our experience and they're heading there next week to try it. Wow, some of the best food that I've had in a long time. Stopped in for dinner one day since I was in the area. I can not recommend this place enough, I will be telling everyone to go here. The chicken wings are outstanding, the main course of meat skewers and sides were also delicious. A great meal at Chateau Rouge! My first time there, but looking forward to coming back. Its is a small and cozy space, comfortably decorated and - special kudos to them - appropriate music level for dinnertime conversation and enough lighting to read the menu! We had the price fix menu (which unknown to us was actually discounted $10 for Black History Month) that includes an app, main, 2 sides, and desert. The turnovers were popular apps, and grilled skewers and Yassa chicken mains were delicious. I recommend the caramelized pineapple for desert - unusual and delicious. Service was excellent. I thought that for the food, service and ambience it was a great value, even more so considering that it is BYOB. All around really nice evening! read more

My boyfriend and I stumbled onto this gem for a date night, and it did not disappoint! The food was phenomenal, and the service was out of this world. We spoke with both the owner and chef, who were extremely attentive and kind! I also loved the interior decor. The vibes are very cozy, and you can tell the staff put a lot of care into curating a good experience for the customers. As for the food, my boyfriend said "it's one of the best meals he's had in Philly." The suya wings were definitely the standout dish. We also got yassa chicken, the misole, and banane flambé, all of which were great. I really like plantains, and the misole was cooked so well. Overall a great find! read more

Our first time here, it's a very small restaurant with music playing a bar great atmosphere, beautiful face carvings on the wall and the dinner was spectacular. I like everything about this place it's beautifully decorated. The service is excellent and the food is unique and flavorful. When I entered, I was immediately greeted and seated. I had my choice of tables. Once seated, the owner and Chef both came out to say hello and went over suggestions. I ordered the tasting menu, it was well worth the price. The wings have great flavor and texture The dipping sauce was fabulous. It's a great value when you have the tasting menu, but if purchased as an appetizer it's overpriced for the amount of wings you receive. (I wings to go). But don't let that discourage you. The Yassa chicken had a good flavor however, it should fall off the bone and it did not. It was not as tender as it should've been it did not live up to my expectations or past experience elsewhere. I also had the ratatouille vegetables, they were absolutely divine, the yams were too stringy, but had a nice flavor. For dessert I had banana flambee it was plated nicely and delicious. Had a wonderful meal at family-owned and run, BYOB Château Rouge! Currently offering prix fixe meals, our 4-top was excited to try almost every dish offered. Some of our favorites were: - Tuna Pastel (flaky pastry filled with tuna and spices, served with dipping sauce)--not fishy and also the dipping sauce was the favorite of the night! - Suya Wings (6 grilled wings marinated in Cameroonian Suya seasoning) - Misole (golden crispy plantain slices, lightly salted)--why do our homemade plantains never turn out like this?! - BH "Beignet Haricot" (tender red beans simmered in tomato sauce with garlic and herbs, served with rice)--incredibly delicious and comforting. - Yassa Poulet (chicken sauteed with onions and fresh lemon juice, served with Dijon mustard sauce)--loved the accompanying veggies! - House fruit salad--the pureed passion fruit was divine! This relatively new local BYOB place looked great, reviews are all positive, so I went with a friend, who happened to notice the small print on the bottom of the menu saying that there was a $10 corkage fee. I confirmed that with a server, and my friend and I moved on to a different BYOB resto that didn't have a corkage fee -- most do not, especially if no wine is being sold by the restaurant! Anyway, I might try take out sometime. read more

We had my husband's birthday dinner at Chateau Rouge, and had an excellent experience. There were a total of 12 of us, and we dined on the beautiful outdoor patio. The staff was exceptional, and made sure that we were taken care of throughout the entire meal. Special shout out to the owner, Jeanette, who was just so incredibly pleasant, and ensured that our experience was top notch. The food itself was amazing; a unique blend of French and African flavors, that was just absolutely delicious. A happy accident! Went searching for Moroccan food and Chateau Rouge came up. Menu looked delicious and it was. Highly recommend the prix fixe menu. Perfect portions and a nice balance of choices. The owner, Jeannette, came out to greet us and told us about the idea behind the restaurant: a blending of Cameroonian and French cuisine. Delightful!
