Highly recommend making a point to snag a reservation to dine at Emmett! Lovely welcome from entry to exit--appreciate the small foyer before you enter the dining room, which is the first floor of a standard Philly row home scattered with small tables and anchored by a bar. Enjoyed every course of our tasting menu, though there were a few must-reorder-next-time dishes: First: - Sesame Madeleines (baharat butter, peach jam) - I would have been happy with a bucket of these beside me. If I lived in the neighborhood, I could see myself doing what we saw another table do (i.e., come in for a drink and these madeleines and then continue with the evening). - Rye Tartlet (wagyu, horseradish, smoked mustard) - What a terrific little bite (or two, if you're me). Love the crunch of the tartlet shell and the balance of the flavors. - Chili Cured Tuna (pepperoni, banana pepper, hawaii cracker) - Lovely little zing of heat. - Fried Oyster Toast (focaccia, preserved lemon aioli, pickled celery) - Fried oyster, 'nuff said. - Lamb Kibbeh (sumac labneh, pickled pear) Second: - Sweet Potato Al Ha'esh (smoked raisin, urfa labneh, bulgur, fig) - Would love to be able to make sweet potatoes like this! Especially terrific with the sweeter figs. - Chestnut Cappelletti (braised rabbit, beech mushrooms, sunchoke) - Incredibly rich and delicious. Third: - Sea Bass (tomatillo harissa, celery root baba, stuffed cabbage, Maryland crab) - The sea bass was perfectly deboned and crispy and I adore crab! - Aged Ribeye (fingerlings, smoked beef fat hollandaise, matzo onion ring) - Solid plate with some fantastic onion rings. Fourth: - Date Cake (turkish coffee caramel, candied pistachio) - Not too sweet, but highly caffeinated. I couldn't not try it (tried to only eat the inside), but as one who can't have caffeine after 11AM anymore, it did keep me up all night.

Emmett is one of those spots that immediately makes you feel welcome, where the staff is warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly without being overbearing. From start to finish, the service matched the quality of the food: thoughtful, polished, and memorable. The Rye Tartlets were a great starter! The standout of the night for me was the Carrot and Fig dish, unexpectedly bright and balanced, with just the right mix of earthy and sweet. The Short Rib Borek Pie was comforting and rich, with tender meat wrapped in crisp layers that made it impossible to stop eating. The Parisian Gnocchi was pillowy and indulgent, almost melting with every bite, while the Lamb Loin was beautifully cooked and perfectly tender with deep flavor that really tied the whole meal together. Emmett feels both elevated and inviting, a place where you can celebrate something special but also just enjoy a night of incredible food and hospitality. Philadelphia is lucky to have it, and I'll definitely be back soon.

How was everything just right? I mean everything. The vibes were upscale but not pretentious. It felt welcoming right away. The food was perfect. You seriously cannot go wrong with anything. The service was incredible. I can't wait to go back to be honest. This might have been one of my favorite spots this year. You need to go right now. Log off and make a reservation.

An unbelieveable meal from start to finish, one of the best meals I have had in a very long time. The entire experience was memorable. From the space, to the staff, to the food, to the cocktails. Every single staff member we encountered was so friendly and on the ball. Always had an eye on water levels, resetting table in between courses, cleaning table in between. This was such a treat. The food and bar program are next level. The tasting menu is an absolute must when visiting Emmett. The portions are great, you won't leave hungry. And all of the food was out of this world. The menu is flavorful and eclectic. A harmonious blend of unique flavors and textures. Menu highlights for me: rye tartlet, smoked jonah crab, the sujuk cappalletti (hands down the best thing I put in my mouth all night), lamb loin, date cake and the grilled sourdough soft serve which was part of the blood orange curd. I ordered a cocktail, Bourbon Beets Battlestar Galactica. So good. I cannot wait to return!!

This replaced primarily plant based and i love right by so i had to check it out. Same vibe as before and layout. The only gripe i had was with the damn octopus dish. Delicious but why are you charging me 22$ for three embarrassing pieces of octopus, straight robbery To be honest, everything was really good, i forgot to take pictures at the beginning haha Best madelines ive ever had but also the only ones ive had were from costco. The butter or duck fat used made it really rich and decadent Overall the food is phenomenal and oir server was great as well

Incredible experience. I did the tasting menu and everything was incredible! The flavors and preparation are truley a higher caliber than the price tag. All the different sauces, flavors, perfectly paired textures. Fantastic execution. The service was great and waitress was friendly yet professional. Loved the whole experience! The only concern i had was speed of dinning. If you do the tasting menu its 8 courses. The 5 appetizers came out way too fast. I couldnt finish one before the next came. My table got a little overwhelmed with all the plates and i felt rushed. Then when it was time for mains it took forever. Food and service amazing but timing could use some work. Over all great food though! Must try! Ambiance was nice, small place but comfortable and intimate. Very relaxing time!

Emmett has a nice cozy vibe with friendly staff throughout. I opted for the $140 tasting menu which was definitely very good value for the price -- I was absolutely STUFFED by the time I arrived at the dessert course, which I had to pack to-go. I did do the add-on tagliolini course which was delicious, but I wish it was substituted for another course rather than an additional course. I haven't been this full in a while, which definitely puts you in a weird position... you always want to get bang for your buck and lots of food for what you pay, but for this kind of experience with so many courses, it would've been more enjoyable if portions were smaller so that I could've enjoyed each different course with a little bit more excitement, rather then feeling like I was about to pass out. Good flavors and an all around good meal with quality food. Aside from the tagliolini add-on, nothing really stood out too crazy. Just all good quality courses.

cozy vibey restaurant in fishtown, i've been waiting to check out this new philly restaurant! while i think that this place is solid, i don't think it lives up to the hype. the appetizers were honestly quite mediocre, the entrees were definitely the highlights. for our appetizers, we ordered the rye tartlets, the scallop crudo, and the stuffed squash blossom. out of the three, i enjoyed the scallop crudo the most, but there are definitely better scallop crudos in philly. the entrees, however, were good. my parents and i shared the agnolotti, the aged duck, and the ribeye. the meats were cooked perfectly. we opted to add foie to the duck which was decadent and flavorful. the entrees were fairly large as well, we had leftovers for the next day. we ended the night with the date cake which i was unimpressed by. my dad did enjoy it though, it's a solid option for a caramel lover. service was good, our waitress was attentive and friendly. our waitress originally suggested that we order an additional dish and we took her suggestion by adding the agnolotti -- but the portions were definitely substantial and we did not need an additional dish. the worst part were the bathrooms... they were disgusting. i walked in to find the toilet seat and floor tinkled over -- it was giving dive bar bathroom. overall, emmett was a good experience but for the price point, there are definitely better options.

Everything about Emmett was absolutely amazing. The servers were attentive and knowledgeable, the cocktails were innovative, and the food was delicious. We opted to do the a la carte menu because it was too difficult to choose just one of the second courses, and this was definitely the right move! We had the perfect amount of food and left feeling satisfied without breaking the bank by any means. The sesame madeleines were definitely a favorite. Seemingly simple, the rhubarb jam and vasudevan butter elevated this dish to the next level. Then add on the caviar and wow! The wagyu rye tartlet with smoked mustard was another favorite. I can't wait to be back and try even more dishes!

Everything about Emmett was incredible. Celebrated a birthday with a party of 6 and everything from start to finish was exceptional INCLUDING Pennsylvania only wine selections such as Galen Glen sparkling Gruner and Pray Tell Orange Popsicle (yes. seriously!). Marisa (the GM) was simply charming and the plentiful wait staff was perfectly attentive and friendly led by Veronica T. Cocktails (also PA-based spirits) were crazy inventive. We had the tasting menu at $120 per head. This dining was like a NYC or Paris experience but right here in Philly/Fishtown. The whole menu was a highlight but the strip sirloin main was the crown jewel. The location is a corner storefront that has been beautifully converted with an open kitchen and a sit down bar area. We had an early (5:30) reservation and were seated right away. At first we thought 5:30 was too early but in the end the meal took about 3+ hours so we needed the time. Honestly can't wait to go back and to recommend Emmett to everyone.

10/10 experience. This place is on a Main Street in northern liberties but you would hardly know it. On the corner of Hancock and girard, the door is tucked under an awning and the sign is hidden if you're coming from Frankford ave side. We walked right past it! When you walk in the vibe is cozy and intimate. The staff were all extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I had a little sticker shock when first pursuing the menu but let me tell you it was all worth the price tag. We decided to forgo the tasting menu in a bold attempt to save money but we ordered the most expensive things on the menu!! But they are pricey for a reason - amazing flavor profiles that are well balanced, hefty portions (especially on that rib eye dish), and truly things I'd never had before. We were all raving about the restaurant choice and I have to thank my husband for the recommendation. My favorite dish was the charred corn angliotti (pasta) and the chicken liver mouse (served with mini waffles)!! The pasta was creamy and bright, not too heavy, and like pillowy pockets of corn. The uni pasta sauce was so delicious but I learned I don't like uni so I wouldn't get it again because it was so expensive. I'd get two of that charred corn pasta though. Also I was so impressed with the mocktail menu. I can't wait to come back here. It was a great meal and I highly recommend.

Dessert- forgot to photo first but too good to miss the chance.

Focus on dessert and cocktails, with maybe a few small plates. That's our recommendation after doing the tasting menu Saturday night. The food is flavorful but uneven, with some dishes too heavily sauced and few that render real memories. The date cake and blood orange soft serve are outstanding, however, and we will be back for more. We were also very impressed by the cocktail using beet juice and one that's a twist on a dirty martini. Very kind service though a bit inattentive at times.

I knew I could only enjoy a little knibble of each of the delicious salads that were initial placed on the table. I think I ate all the twice-cooked eggplant. It was so good! The hummus is honestly the best I've ever had, and the laffa bread is such a yummy accompaniment. I had to stop myself from eating too much! I tried the Phyllo-wrapped Haloumi. It was ok, but I liked my dad's Freekeh Arancini better. The Pomegranate Lamb Shoulder is the reason I had to pace myself. This is also one of my favorite lamb dishes that I've ever had. The greens are a nice accomaniment. I didn't care for the crispy rice, and it was the only thing I didn't like. I got the Pecan Konafe for dessert and it was like an exotic pecan pie. Love this! The second I knew I was visiting Philly, I set a reminder on my phone to vie for a reservation. We got a 9:30pm reservation, which was late for my usual dining habits but absolutely no question worth the extra few hours to build up and appetite and anticipate going to such a renowned restaurant. We were met with a beautiful dining room and kind, passionate people at Zahav, especially our bartenders, who made our experience a true EVENT, describing each dish to us even as we were making decisions on the tasting menu, and vouching for the fact that we MUST try the halloumi, which ended up being my favorite dish! Wow, the care that is put into the craft of this food is unreal. Zahav is a true celebration of cuisine. We started with the laffa bread being served straight out of the fire with accompaniments which were absolute flavor bombs, especially the eggplant and pickled cabbage. The bread was warm, soft, and so flavorful in itself but made even better by the hummus-tehina, which was perhaps the smoothest I've ever had. The Pomegranate Lamb Shoulder fell right off the bone, and the Amba-braised Greens and Crispy Persian Rice were side dishes that felt like main events in themselves -- the crispiness of the rice perfectly complemented the pomegranate sauce of the lamb. This was the perfect celebration dinner, and Zahav quickly made it to the top of my list of places that live up to their hype and go above and beyond in the kindness realm.

Almyra - I happened to walk by it a few weeks ago, I didn't know it was there. I thought, 'looks very nice, I'll have to try it'. The restaurant, which features 'modern Greek' is part of the Estia Group, which includes 7 restaurants - 3 of which are in Philly (Estia and Pietro's are the other two). I went for dinner this evening on a Wednesday, and there was a good crowd - the restaurant is quite large, and it's decorated beautifully. I started with three of the Spreads - Smoked Eggplant, Beet, and Hummus. It was wonderful trying these 3 - I spread them on the pita and crispy rice crackers - and tried them separately - spoonful by spoonful, to really taste the differences. The Edamame Hummus has a unique flavor and texture with tahini and garlic. The Beet features roasted beets blended with labneh and garlic and topped with pistachio and feta. The Smoked Eggplant with peppers and balsamic rounds out the 3 with a deep, smoky flavor and a soft, smooth texture. I always look for 'classic' Spanakopita these days, but rarely find it. The dish at Almyra was labeled 'Spanakopita Manti' - I asked my server, what that was. She said it was a favorite of hers, a fried 'flower shaped' pastry filled with blended spinach and feta, served with tzatziki and leeks. I ordered them and they were heavenly - lightly battered, crispy fried 'flowers', with a creamy spinach center, that tasted exactly like spanakopita should. I dipped every bite in the creamy tzatziki and thoroughly enjoyed the appetizer! While pork is the most popular meat in Greece, lamb is a dish served on special occasions and holidays. I 'discovered' lamb in Greece, as I hadn't ordered it that often when I would go out to eat....specifically the lamb chop. Almyra has a great lamb chop! It's seared on the grill - and I do mean seared - the deep char definitely adds to the flavor. The 3 large chops are Australian lamb, herb marinated for days highlighting the flavor of the meat. They are seasoned with sea salt, cracked pepper and olive oil for a tender finish. I like my meat pink inside - not red or rare. Cooking lamb chops medium to medium well is no small feat, yet the meat was cooked exactly the way I liked. They were tender and very juicy. These chops may have been some of the thickest I've had - and I made the 'mistake' of trying to eat them with a fork and knife. Wrong! If you order chops, you 'MUST PICK THEM UP' and eat them! What a difference!! The meat just came right off the bone and it enhanced both the texture and flavor! I'm not sure why eating them off the bone was so different, but I can't emphasize it enough - and, it's a lot more fun! Part of the treat when you order ribs are the 'layered potato fries' you get with them! These aren't your ordinary fries, in fact, they're really not fries - they are little potato masterpieces! The fries are prepared by thinly slicing potatoes and layering them to create a multi layered texture that rocks! They are truly a savory, rich side dish to the lamb chops! After such an epic dinner, I had to order dessert, and the Olive Oil cake immediately caught my eye. It was a two layered cake with a creamy custard like center and a citrus orange topping. It was light and moist, accompanied by a scoop of vanilla gelato resting on a bed of ground pistachio nuts! It was delicious and a wonderful ending to a great meal!

We went for a happy hour. Server was great and food was honestly well executed minus the…read morespanikopita which though inventive tasted like bad spinach artichoke wantons. Why 1 star? Fine to have a dress code. Fine to enforce it. Not fine to not have staff communicate. We were at a family happy hour and my wife choses to wear a head covering for religious reasons. They asked her politely to remove and she explained. All good. They then came back three times and several times pointed at our table. The last time the bouncer scoffed when we explained. Not cool.
