ROMAINE SALAD dill, feta, crispy phyllo
    Alexis B.

I had dinner at Almyra this past weekend at the end of a day in Philadelphia, and I really enjoyed my meal. I'll be honest, I'm always a little suspicious of places that have vines of fake flowers or selfie setups. I've been to too many restaurants that are more style than substance, restaurants that focus on decor and vibes and being a scene and lose focus on food and service. Almyra definitely has created a vibe. There are faux bougainvillea vines that make you think of Greek isles. And there is a large mirror for selfies are you walk in. There's fun music. Like I said, it's a vibe. But the food and service were still very good, and that makes all the difference. When solo dining, sometimes I'll over order a bit so that I can try more things and enjoy the leftovers at home, so I ordered one dish from their mezze, one from their raw dishes, and one from their salads. My mezze - wagyu dumplings - was delicious. The filling was delicious and the yogurt was a perfect accompaniment. My raw dish - Lavraki (sea bass) ceviche with tomato, feta, and gigante beans - was great; it was bright and acidic (loads of lemon) and interesting (I'd never had a ceviche like it - being more familiar with Latin and Central American ceviches - feta and gigantes!). My salad - romaine with dill, feta, and crispy phyllo - was also good, simple but bright and delicious. I sadly didn't have room for dessert (after all, much of my salad and two dumplings were in a to go container already), but I had a cappuccino to end my meal. Three good courses, good service, and vibes? A meal I enjoyed and wouldn't mind repeating.

What a vibe! This place was really nice. Sometimes I am hesitant of big spots like this, but I found the food, drinks, service, and vibes to be great. I was there in a group of 6 girls and we had a lot of fun. The vibe does lean slightly more lively without being too crazy. The octopus we had was unreal. I was obsessed. Would definitely return!!

came back after a few years and ... it's changed from a 4/5 to a 2/5 experience for me. upon entering the restaurant, my friend was told to take off his hat since there's a dress code (he was not asked politely either) and everyone was dressed CASUAL. PSA: just no hats i guess. waitress was nice and recommended some drinks, which personally were too sweet for us. for apps we ordered some spreads which were okay, app was an octopus which came out in an abundance and tasted like prior frozen octopus. entree kebabs would not recommend for the price ($25/$33), but was decent. overall, for this price, you can 100% find something better quality. would i come back? maybe someday years from now to give it another chance, but not for the near future.

Almyra in Center City Philadelphia is absolutely breathtaking from the moment you walk in. The space is stunning, elegant, and romantic without feeling overdone. It immediately sets the tone for an elevated yet welcoming dining experience and honestly feels perfect for a date night or special occasion. We started with cocktails, and they alone were worth the visit. The Fotia cocktail, made with tequila, blood orange, and jalapeño, was incredibly tasty with the perfect balance of heat and citrus. I ordered the Pathos with vodka, passion fruit, honey, and lemon, and I would genuinely go back just for that drink alone. It was that good. For appetizers, our amazing server gave us some excellent recommendations, and they did not disappoint. The charred octopus was tender and flavorful, and the lamb ribs were phenomenal. Both dishes completely set the tone for the rest of the meal and let us know we were in for something special. Before our main courses, we also ordered the romaine salad. It was good, but it felt like it could use a little more of something to really make it stand out. Still enjoyable, just not as memorable as everything else. For our mains, we ordered the Chilean sea bass and the lamb chops with basmati rice and mixed vegetables. Both were absolutely amazing. The sea bass was cooked perfectly, and the lamb chops were flavorful and beautifully paired with the sides. From the cocktails to the ambiance, the service, and most importantly the food, this was hands down one of the best date nights I've had in Philly. Almyra has easily become one of my favorite restaurants in the city, and I can't wait to go back.

Tasty yummmmmm in a fun atmosphere. Like a taverna on one of the numerous islands in the Aegean Sea. Upscale without attitude. Happy Hour at the bar is packed. Every appetizer we shared was enough to whet the palate. Dining tables are close together so it's easy to converse with others OR within your own party. Wait staff work together as a Team. Reservations are a must‼ Opaaaaaaaaa‼‼

Beautiful modern interior with cool music vibes, made our evening dinner even more awesome. Our server was Kevin S. and he was excellent throughout the meal. We were here on the early dinner (6pm) on a weeknight so it was not crowded when we arrived. But, definitely filled up as the night went on. We began with the 3 spread mezza plate which was excellent. Next was the Cretan Village Salad which we split, and that too was perfect. Entrees were the Lamb Chops and the Short Rib dinners. I could not ask for better on either of these dishes. Lamb cooked perfectly as requested. And the short rib just pulled apart beautifully and had a great juicy flavor. We were both very very happy with all aspects of this evening a Almyra.

Honestly the experience here was so good that I'm struggling to come up with the words to describe it. Walking in, you're immediately greeted with an atmosphere that provides comfort and glamor at the same time. The inside of the restaraunt is absolutely gorgeous! They do have a dress code on certain days (check their website for more details) so be sure to pay attention to that! We visited on a Monday evening around 7 o'clock and did not have a reservation, but were promptly greeted and seated. Our waiter was very kind and attentive. The food was amazing! We started our meal with the tuna crispy rice and charred octopus, which were both very fresh and delicious. We also split the romaine salad which was as herby and refreshing. The lamb chops were to die for; succulent and perfectly cooked. The mousse dessert was also tasty! I highly recommend a trip to Almyra, you won't regret it! Pro tip: parking is a bit dicey, but the walk from the surrounding hotels isn't bad at all!

Been celebrating my birthday all week and my mother and I decided to end things off here. First time for us both. Been seeing this place all over the internet so I was personally excited to try. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful it almost feels like a time capsule to Santorini. The restaurant has sand colors, and vibrant florals with beautiful seating and bar area. They hooked this place up, you'll definitely get some great photos! Be mindful the restaurant does have a dress code but is pretty lax from what I could see. Service was so up and down I'm not going to lie. Our server was a little off and just lost in the sauce; but the food came out quickly so I can appreciate that. The grilled cheese app to me tasted like a burnt sharp Asiago cheese or something.. wasn't a fan. The shrimp app comes with 3 shrimp--Could've gave us at least 4-5 but delicious nonetheless and I thought the sauce went well with it. The branzino was the star of the show for me--Grilled to perfection and had a nice lemon sauce on top. My mom had the lamb chops which she said were okay, a little tough but okay. And the greens were tasty but the tomato feta orzo wasn't what I was going for... I was thinking more of a cold anti pasta ordeal but this tastes like spaghetti with melted feta on top.. strange. Would love to give this place another try considering I have an idea of a few things now but they gotta get the service together because our server was in the twilight zone. Anyways... thanks Almyra!

This review is for happy hour only! This place is very beautifully decorated and there is a strict dress code (dress to impress!) We were sat and the corner high top table behind the massive and beautiful bar. At 5pm the bar was packed with people getting their happy hour on. We tried a variety of happy hour food items from the crispy tuna rice (pretty good flavors! was a bit greasy), salmon kebobs (flavorful but mine was a bit overcooked), crab wonton (would have preferred more of a crab flavor was overpowered by dill), lamb rib (good flavors), Saganaki (flaming cheese! fun but expected more flavor) and the 3 spreads (Santorini fava with saffron and crispy capers, the whipped feta with jalapeño and radish and edamame hummus with tahini and garlic confit - all of them are fantastic) I also tried two happy hour drinks the drink of the day (which was a gin gimlet) soooo good and a daquiri (pineapple and rum doesnt get much better than that!). I would love to come back and take others to happy hour. A fun place to meet up with great company for fantastic food/drink :)

The service was impeccable. Everyone was so welcoming. I felt special, The restaurant was clean and the decor was nice. Almyra's has been on my high list of restaurants to try on the East coast. I am a fan of anything Mediterranean inspired and I'm glad I had the opportunity to try it and I'm looking forward to my next visit. The humus sampler was delicious. I will try to recreate this. It included the edamame, beet and smoked egg plant humus. So delicious. The beet was my favorite and I haven't ever enjoyed beet until now. I ordered and tried the wagyu dumplings which were also very good. My entree I had the Lavraki which had lemon, capers and Horta on the side. I added the potato's and these were so delicious. All of the food was everything! They have perfected deliciousness across every item I had from the menu. I enjoyed the mild and subtle sweetness of the fish. It's not often that I eat fish, so I had to try this. For my cocktail I enjoyed the Rum sparkling strawberry moet. Very good. A must try. I highly recommend Almyra's.

Birthday dinner with my favorite person my daughter so we tried Almyra our first time. Place is gorgeous and beautifully decorated, very welcoming. We were seated right away, we did have reservations, and was notified twice.. once to confirm and update on dress code, second was an update our reservation was in 30 mins. The waiter took our drink & food orders. The appetizers came quickly. I can't even remember the names of the items but we had a flaming fried cheese which was good if you ate it before it got too charred on the bottom. Also had the fried shrimp which was excellent along with the dill sauce. For my entree I ordered the lamb chops with potato stacks. The lamb was a little fatty and not as tender as I would have like but I'm thinking it's due to the thickness of the cut. Good flavor though. I did enjoy my rosemary lemonade great choice recommended by the waiter. Really enjoyed our time here and will definitely go back to try more options !

I recommend sharing multiple menu items!

Truly a five star dinner and experience! My family and I came here with a 5:30 pm reservation before catching a show down the street. We were seated quickly and took in the beautiful atmosphere of the restaurant that completely took you away from the city outside. The restaurant is a little dark, but the lights provided on the table are bright without taking up too much space. Our server started out with water and asking if we had any allergies. My dad ordered some drinks based off of the servers recommendations and loved both of them. We went into the dinner expecting to be sharing a lot of menu items, and I definitely recommend trying this strategy as well when coming to Almyra! To start we chose 3 spreads: Smoked Eggplant, Edamame Hummus, and Beet. All the spreads were delicious, each of us having different favorites. Our server also came by with more pita bread to help us finish off the spreads. Next, we ordered the Chilean Sea Bass, two kebabs (filet mignon and shrimp), and two sides (grilled vegetables and layered potato fries). Everything was brought out at once, which I appreciated, and looked beautiful. We all loved every single bite and had no complaints. The biggest shock to all of us was how much we loved the Horta that came with the sea bass. I am a big vegetable lover, so when I pointed this out my family thought I was just being me, but after they tasted it too they were scraping more onto their plate. Finally, we finished with the Budino, which was perfect. Our server, aware of our time limit to catch our show, made sure we time to pay and enjoy our dessert efficiently. We could not have asked for a better experience at Almyra. Just after our first bites of food we knew this first visit would not be our last!

It took a while for the waitstaff to get drink/appetizer orders to us once placed, but I think our large party was the issue and there was only minimal staff at the bar. My Greek Island Iced Tea was meh along with the Greek Cosmopolitan my wife got. The Greek beer and wines were nice to experience. At our table, there were many different dishes. The waitress advised they were out of one item on the vegetarian menu. My dad and his wife picked out others and did you know that a true Greek salad doesn't have lettuce? Our waitress told us that and my dad said that was true when they visited Greece. So they must know what's up! My family and I shared a combo cold appetizer which was several spreads (some spicy!) on pita of which we had to order more of. Only one of the spreads did we absolutely hate. They called it caviar but it was mayo in consistency and looks. The hummus was nice, tzatziki was loved, and the garlic potato was SUPER garlic. My main dish of octopus was quite nice and I wished was a bit larger. Octopus with lettuce tomato and onion in oil. Tasty. My wife and kid had lamb shank and lamb roast. Both were delicious and tender. My friends got the cheese on fire tableside and a lot of calamari which was also well liked. Our waitress was wonderful and on top of things. She was able to split the check three ways and got well deserved tips. The restaurant itself is a little cramped as it's in a former residence, but you can get around. If you're in the mood for Greek food, I don't think you'll go wrong at Zorba's Taverna. $180 including tax and tip for three adults. Two cocktails, a beer, tea, combo appetizer, three mains, and a dessert to go.

The sashimi itself was underwhelming, but the wasabi, ginger, and seaweed added much needed flavor. I also tried the salad, which included sweet beets that weren't mentioned on the menu. The description said roasted, but I couldn't taste that at all. If anything, it tasted more like sweet and pickled flavor. I ordered the Ciuppin next. The server warned me it would be spicy, but it arrived almost completely bland. I had to ask for extra black pepper just to get some flavor. The mussels and shrimp were very good, but the pasta / sauce ratio was off. There wasn't nearly enough sauce to coat the pasta, which left the dish lacking flavor. From the photo, it looks like the sauce would cover everything, but once you start mixing it, you realize it doesn't go far at all. Then I ordered the warm apple cobbler for dessert. I was expecting something baked and comforting. Instead I received uncooked oats mixed with cooked apples and a scoop of ice cream on top. Why is this called warm apple cobbler on the menu? And why didn't they explain in the description that this contains uncooked oats in every bite? I was so disappointed because I don't eat oats and certainly would not have ordered this if I would have known. It resembles a breakfast granola bar rather than a cobbler. It felt lazy and misleading. I paid for my meal using my phone. After I left a tip and completed the transaction, the server told me, "We usually don't accept anything less than 18%," and pointed out that what I left was much lower than what they expect. Then she walked away without another word. Even though the menu clearly states that only applies to parties of six or more. I was dining alone. Tips are earned, and honestly, the food wasn't that good, especially not after being served a trail mix dessert pretending to be cobbler. I was surprised she questioned the amount I chose to leave for a solo meal, especially after everything was already processed. I shouldn't have left anything at all. Tipping is optional, and the experience just didn't earn more.
