    Greek Salad with gyro meat
    Dee F.

Lovely decor and very comfortable seating. Friendly staff. The food was sooooo incredibly flavorFULL! FRESH ingredients. The Greek salad (one with gyro meat one with souvlaki) skipped the lettuce (great idea!) and was chockablock full of fresh ripe tomatoes, cucumber, green peppers (nice thinly sliced), olives, feta and protein of choice. Hummus was dreamy. Tsatziki was heavy on the cucumber flavor which was good. Calamari was fried with a light touch. The meat tray as an app was divine!

I didn't know or realize this was here until I was going to lunch with someone and they suggested this place. It's in the spot where "Fare" used to be, so I didn't realize it switched. But glad she suggested coming here as I got to try a new place in the neighborhood. Got there right before noon on a Monday, so had my pick for seating options. By the time we left, the places has filled up a bit more. The place has a clean, bright airy feel with lighting that would probably give a sleek, modern bar vibe. Our server was good - friendly, sweet demeanor, attentive. We ordered our own things, but kind of ended up sharing a couple of the items. I wasn't super hungry, so I just ordered the Hummus spread which came with pita and the Calamari with a ginger ale. My friend got the Chicken Platter and Spanakopita. We both didn't expect the platter to have as much food as it did for the lunch menu - it was a hefty serving! So I ended up eating some to help her out lol. Everything was pretty good taste wise and good portion sizes, as mentioned before. I would come here again to try some other options and see if they have a happy hour given the nice vibe of the bar area.

This is complicated. The server is sweet, and the restaurant is exceptionally clean. (When a couple left their booth, the server completely disinfected it.) The spanakopita was delicious, but that wasn't phyllo dough, and they definitely deep fried this treat. I asked the server if the rice was plain. She said yes. When it arrived, it was filled with broth and carrots, etc. The rice was also underdone. I ordered tea, and then had to wait until she came back so I could ask for sugar....(Usually, in other restaurants, servers automatically bring the sugar with the tea.) It's a great location and a great neighborhood. I don't want to give a bad review, but the food was what it was.

The chicken pita sandwich was very good. It had a nice sauce and was a decent size, so filling. The restaurant wasn't crowded in the afternoon but I was probably there between lunch and dinner. The place is near the Eastern State Penitentiary in Fairmount. The decor is modern and there is a beautiful bar. Would be curious to see what it's like at night.

Ios has been on my radar since completing its renovation. Last night, I finally got to check them out with a friend and I have to say that I'm hooked. Being tucked right in the middle of Fairmount, I love that Ios is conveniently located next to many walkable spots nearby, including Eastern State Penitentiary, Fairmount Flavors, and many boutique shops and bars where you can continue your journey after your dining affairs. As for the restaurant itself, there are ample seating options to choose from, both inside and outside of the jawn. The interior decor is warm, classy and inviting, which makes it a great place for a get-together with friends and dates alike. Upon entering, we were promptly assisted in finding our table. We opted for the bar seating as the restaurant was pretty popping with people last night. Our lovely waitress/hostess didn't take long to tend to us, and she's attentive at making sure we had our orders taken and that our drinks were refilled periodically. For food, we ordered grilled octopus, truffle fries, and beef and lamb gyro platter. Everything was delectable, and we both especially loved the truffle fries. The beef and lamb platter was served in a big tray filled with delicious assemble-it-yourself style gyro parts, and I loved every bite of it. I didn't get to try the grilled octopus, but my friend loved it. Overall, it was a lovely dining experience and I'd love to go there again soon.

    Chicken Souvlaki with French Fries

My friends and I were looking for food late on a Friday night. We walked in and asked when their kitchen closed and the guy said technically 10pm but told us to sit down anyways, and that it wasn't a problem. We got the halloumi, spanakopita, octopus, calamari, and a chicken souvlaki platter. Everything was amazing, but the halloumi and octopus definitely stood out. After we ordered I fooled it and realized the restaurant actually closed at 10pm, not just the kitchen, and I was shocked they let us in + that the place was still busy with people eating and chatting! We never felt rushed and the meal and vibes were perfect. Highly recommend

We came here for dessert, drinks and their live music (bouzoukia). We ordered the portokalopita and ekmek kataifi which were both amazing! The servers were super nice and we danced all night!!

LOVE this Greek place! Been a regular here as well live so close to it; very hard to resist. We love the food, the variety of items, very fresh ingredients, relaxed but upscale atmosphere, and very friendly service. This place is a must to visit!

Calamari, kafteri-spicy feta dip, and the iOS chips
    Chloe M.

What a nice time. It is truly gorgeous in here the decor is . Got some appetizers with my friend who was eating healthy-ish (booo) but still was delicious. We shared the spicy feta dish, calamari (E wish I got the grilled instead it looks phenomenal), and the iOS chips (zucchini chips). They make a strong drink as well and our server was really sweet. I've gotta make it back for dinner and get some grilled meats asap.

Ios Restobar, located at 2028 Fairmount Ave in Philadelphia, offers a delightful Greek dining experience in the heart of the Fairmount and Art Museum districts. Management decided to close down their restaurant by the name of Fare. They revamped the interior and the menu to focus on serving modern Greek cuisine. The menu features a variety of Greek dishes, including chicken souvlaki, politiki salad (so very delicious!), tiri saganaki, lemon potatoes, Greek fries with feta, gyro, and grilled octopus, all prepared to perfection. A menu favorite that they kept when this restaurant was called Fare are the hand cut truffle fries with chipotle aioli 10/10! Patrons would have been upset if they didn't bring this menu item to their new concept restobar. For those seeking a modern Greek culinary experience in Philadelphia, Ios Restobar is a must-visit destination.

    Chicken gyro platter

As a first timer at Ios Restobar, I am VERY impressed. The portions are large, the service is friendly, and the bar is stunning. My table ordered the hummus, chicken gyro platter, spanakopita, and fried calamari... all were a hit! It was also very affordable- all previously mentioned and two sodas ran me $69. I will definitely be back again.

Street parking can be challenging. After 6pm loading zone areas by the hardware store are good. Pork souvlaki, Gyro, and octopus were all suitablbly grilled and had color. Salad and hummus apps were all good. Pita was soft and fresh. Added to my list for Greek-Mediterranean.

Family and friends came here after a Christmas Concert at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter…read moreand Paul. We had great food and conversation. My family and I were last to arrive. It took a while for the waitstaff to get drink/appetizer orders to us once placed, but I think our large party was the issue and there was only minimal staff at the bar. My Greek Island Iced Tea was meh along with the Greek Cosmopolitan my wife got. The Greek beer and wines were nice to experience. At our table, there were many different dishes. The waitress advised they were out of one item on the vegetarian menu. My dad and his wife picked out others and did you know that a true Greek salad doesn't have lettuce? Our waitress told us that and my dad said that was true when they visited Greece. So they must know what's up! My family and I shared a combo cold appetizer which was several spreads (some spicy!) on pita of which we had to order more of. Only one of the spreads did we absolutely hate. They called it caviar but it was mayo in consistency and looks. The hummus was nice, tzatziki was loved, and the garlic potato was SUPER garlic. My main dish of octopus was quite nice and I wished was a bit larger. Octopus with lettuce tomato and onion in oil. Tasty. My wife and kid had lamb shank and lamb roast. Both were delicious and tender. My friends got the cheese on fire tableside and a lot of calamari which was also well liked. Our waitress was wonderful and on top of things. She was able to split the check three ways and got well deserved tips. The restaurant itself is a little cramped as it's in a former residence, but you can get around. If you're in the mood for Greek food, I don't think you'll go wrong at Zorba's Taverna. $180 including tax and tip for three adults. Two cocktails, a beer, tea, combo appetizer, three mains, and a dessert to go.

The restaurant immediately stands out with its beautiful design and modern atmosphere. It's one of those places that's incredibly Instagram-worthy, and throughout the evening we noticed plenty of people taking photos both inside and outside the restaurant. Everything was clean, stylish, and thoughtfully designed, making it a great setting for a special occasion. Overall Ratings Atmosphere - 5/5 Service - 5/5 Food - 5/5 Parking - Street Parking Atmosphere - The restaurant is beautifully decorated with a modern and upscale feel. Every detail seems carefully thought out, from the lighting to the overall design of the space. It's easy to see why so many people stop to take pictures here. The restaurant was spotless and created a great atmosphere for celebrating with friends and family. Service - Service was excellent throughout the evening. Our waitress was personable, friendly, and attentive without being intrusive. The staff did a great job making sure our group was taken care of, and everything flowed smoothly despite the size of our party. What We Ordered - -Wagyu Dumplings - Filled with feta, onion, and lemon mint yogurt. Very good, rich and flavorful with a nice balance from the yogurt. -Crispy Rice - Topped with tuna, avocado, and olive. Also very good, with great texture contrast and fresh flavors. -The Spreads - Served with fresh pita bread and spiced rice crackers. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfect for sharing. -Shrimp Kadaifi - Very good. Crispy, flavorful, and a great starter. -Charred Octopus - A must-order dish. Extremely tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. -Lamb Ribs - Another standout item. The meat was incredibly tender and practically melted in your mouth. -Filet Mignon Kebab - Very good. Tender, well seasoned, and cooked perfectly. -Chilean Sea Bass - Flaky, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. -Lamb Chops - Cooked perfectly medium rare and paired with amazing layered potato fries. Easily one of the best dishes of the night and another must-order item. -Braised Short Rib - Served with dill bao buns and pickled onions. The short rib was rich, tender, and paired really well with the light acidity from the pickled onions and the soft bao buns. -Chicken - Served with basmati rice and packed with great flavor. Final Thoughts - This was an outstanding dining experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was beautiful, the service was excellent, and every dish we ordered was delicious. It's not often that an entire table agrees on so many menu items, but Almyra delivered across the board. We would absolutely return again, and I would highly recommend it for special occasions, celebrations, or anyone looking for a memorable meal.

I had the opportunity to visit Greece for the first time a few years ago, and while I always liked…read moreGreek/Mediterranean food, the trip 'heightened my senses', and I now seek out the food I enjoyed so much during my visit. Almyra - I happened to walk by it a few weeks ago, I didn't know it was there. I thought, 'looks very nice, I'll have to try it'. The restaurant, which features 'modern Greek' is part of the Estia Group, which includes 7 restaurants - 3 of which are in Philly (Estia and Pietro's are the other two). I went for dinner this evening on a Wednesday, and there was a good crowd - the restaurant is quite large, and it's decorated beautifully. I started with three of the Spreads - Smoked Eggplant, Beet, and Hummus. It was wonderful trying these 3 - I spread them on the pita and crispy rice crackers - and tried them separately - spoonful by spoonful, to really taste the differences. The Edamame Hummus has a unique flavor and texture with tahini and garlic. The Beet features roasted beets blended with labneh and garlic and topped with pistachio and feta. The Smoked Eggplant with peppers and balsamic rounds out the 3 with a deep, smoky flavor and a soft, smooth texture. I always look for 'classic' Spanakopita these days, but rarely find it. The dish at Almyra was labeled 'Spanakopita Manti' - I asked my server, what that was. She said it was a favorite of hers, a fried 'flower shaped' pastry filled with blended spinach and feta, served with tzatziki and leeks. I ordered them and they were heavenly - lightly battered, crispy fried 'flowers', with a creamy spinach center, that tasted exactly like spanakopita should. I dipped every bite in the creamy tzatziki and thoroughly enjoyed the appetizer! While pork is the most popular meat in Greece, lamb is a dish served on special occasions and holidays. I 'discovered' lamb in Greece, as I hadn't ordered it that often when I would go out to eat....specifically the lamb chop. Almyra has a great lamb chop! It's seared on the grill - and I do mean seared - the deep char definitely adds to the flavor. The 3 large chops are Australian lamb, herb marinated for days highlighting the flavor of the meat. They are seasoned with sea salt, cracked pepper and olive oil for a tender finish. I like my meat pink inside - not red or rare. Cooking lamb chops medium to medium well is no small feat, yet the meat was cooked exactly the way I liked. They were tender and very juicy. These chops may have been some of the thickest I've had - and I made the 'mistake' of trying to eat them with a fork and knife. Wrong! If you order chops, you 'MUST PICK THEM UP' and eat them! What a difference!! The meat just came right off the bone and it enhanced both the texture and flavor! I'm not sure why eating them off the bone was so different, but I can't emphasize it enough - and, it's a lot more fun! Part of the treat when you order ribs are the 'layered potato fries' you get with them! These aren't your ordinary fries, in fact, they're really not fries - they are little potato masterpieces! The fries are prepared by thinly slicing potatoes and layering them to create a multi layered texture that rocks! They are truly a savory, rich side dish to the lamb chops! After such an epic dinner, I had to order dessert, and the Olive Oil cake immediately caught my eye. It was a two layered cake with a creamy custard like center and a citrus orange topping. It was light and moist, accompanied by a scoop of vanilla gelato resting on a bed of ground pistachio nuts! It was delicious and a wonderful ending to a great meal!

Merion Park Labneh: this labneh is thicker than other restaurants which I really like actually. the photo I insert may be deceiving, as it looks chunky. rest assured, it's absolutely smooth, just a thicker consistency than most labnehs. the spices on it are so so good. I think this is a must get along with a hummus. me and my sister are vegetarian, we share a hummus and a labneh and are decently full after those. we also snack on some small plates for the table (fries and olives) and leave full. Israeli Pickles and Olives: comes with two ramekins filled with varying sized pickles, not pitted olives, and some tiny yellow peppers I *think* are either pepper-chinos or at the very least taste similar. they also come with a small ramekin for the olive pits. The yellow peppers are very spicy, but I loved them. the olives are green, and i'd consider them friendly olives for those who are particular around olives. pickles were great as expected. French Fries: easy order for the table. portion is large and I think $8 is a steal for the quantity and quality. comes with a yummy ketchup my sister loves (she is considered a ketchup hater). COCONUT MALABI: I did not know what to expect. and honestly, first bite I was a bit confused by the texture, but by the end, I really liked it. its a thick pudding consistency, smooth, has a decent bounce to it, not too sweet at all, subtle coconut flavor. has a strawberry (I think) jam situation on top with some sort of crunchy thing. will be getting that again for sure. we had three people split this and it was enough. would consider getting two for four people though. service was quick, efficient, and kind. love the atmosphere. it has a sort of lively fun vibe to it. also we were in and out pretty quick without being rushed at all which is nice. just efficient.
